This place is truly an amazing trip back to nostalgia. My husband and I went there to go shopping and bought several records from this place. We had an arm load going back to the car. The owners are truly friendly and amazing and keep this place stocked full of items. they've got jewelry , they've got clothing, they've got music, they've got it all. They also can create buttons for your business and they are not badly priced either. I encourage everyone to visit this place. I guarantee you will not leave without at least one thing. read more

Extremely disappointed. I drove 30 mins and arrived during business hours. There was a sign on the door that they were open but if no one was there to text a specific phone number. I did. Twice. Waited 20 mins between the texts. It's an hour later and still haven't received a reply. I REALLY wanted to go to this store so I got ready earlier than usual on a Saturday. read more

L.A.'s hidden treasure, in beautiful Pasadena, offers the most authentic rock'n'roll experience other mainstream punk stores only try to emulate. You should definitely shop there. Drove a long distance to get here because of the positive reviews and we were looking for a fun place to shop. This place was nothing like I expected. It was dark, with creepy manikins in the windows. I was with my teenage daughters and the vibe made us uncomfortable when we walked in. I wish I hadn't spent the time to drive there. If creepy and dark is what you are looking for, this is the place for you. The owners clearly curate these positive reviews because my last review was removed for "lack of detail". Yelp is full of reviews from fake accounts, so it just ruins the integrity of the platform further if owners systematically remove reviews from authentic users, simply because they don't like what I have to say. read more

Was super excited to check this place out, from the outside it looked very cool and interesting. We walked in and immediately wasn't welcomed in, the worker didn't say a word to be nor my friend. Like a flashback to one of those little shops on Melrose back in the 80s. Lots of crazy clothes, The Cure tshirts and David Bowie. Very cool hidden Pasadena gem for those 80s punk and KROQ aficionados out there. A little pricey for some things but may be worth it to some for the cool factor and nostalgia. read more

This is a cool little spot hidden under a couple of big trees on Colorado blvd.Easy to miss if one doesn't drive slow.There is parking in the neighborhood or in the plaza up the street.Love the cool selection of punk ,ska,rock and alternative.But most of all I like the rare and old Skool high energy disco.The prices are fair and the owners are really down to earth.They carry posters,CDs ,jewelry and other really cool Knick knacks. This little shop of horrors harkens back to a time when Siouxsie ruled and Peter Murphy Wasn't a meth head. It's like stepping back into a shop on Melrose circa 1987. Love it. Veronica, the proprietor, has curated a lovely little assortment of alternative wonder. She's awesome! It's a snack sized portion of all things that made going to Melrose great. I live a hop, skip, and a stones throw away from this place and I rarely get to visit. It's an amazing little shop located right on Colorado Boulevard. I've been here a couple of times, and am so enticed by all the trinkets and fun gear! I even purchased my lucky Misfits pens I use from here. Unfortunately, lost the pens, but gives me a great excuse to return again! :) They have the BEST t-shirt collection EVER. I'd hate to even compare it to Hot Topic, but MeowMeows collection is unmatched! I had to run out the store to keep myself from going in debt. I want EVERYTHING in here. Definitely a shop that's more my speed. read more

I ALWAYS come here for super cool vintage pieces to add to my work wardrobe! I find it challenging to add statement pieces to my everyday attire for work (hairdresser outfits that still have some jazz to it) so I come here and scope out the racks every now and then. Clothing here is well taken care of. They are precleaned. They sell unique stickers to deck out your car or laptop. Highly recommend Meowmeowz if you wanna add culture to your closet. read more

I'd heard of this place for some time but hadn't been able to come in since I'm a bit far. But tonight I went in and was very surprised by how unique it is. As a huge fan of The Cure, I couldn't believe that they had original concert t shirts! This is definitely a place I would visit more often if I was closer, and fortunately for me, I have business in Pasadena more often than before so I will be able to make a pit stop. I ended up buying a Damned t shirt and Motörhead record. Lots of rarities to check out. read more

Even Chandler loves to rock her custom Meowmeowz denim vest! Always nice to come in and visit even if it's just for a hello. Just because this is where all the cool cats are at doesn't mean they don't like to also be greeted by their other furry friends. Love this store. Heat variety of cool stuff from cheap and affordable to I gotta save up for that. But definitely a one of a kind gem in Pasadena. 11/10 would recommend. read more

Established in 2001.

On August 25, 2001 Meowmeowz opened up it's virtual doors online on eBay. But it was always a dream of owner Veronika Sorrow to open up a real brick and mortar store some day...and now here it is: a dream made a reality! On October 10, 2009, Meowmeowz opened it's big black, spray painted doors to the public and has been rockin' ever since. In September of 2010, the shop excitedly relocated to the artist's district of East Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, sharing the strip with legendary Poobah's Records, the Colorado Bar, Guitar Center, Zephyr Coffee House and indie antique shops and tattoo parlors. Meet the Business Owner: Veronika S.

MeowMeowz is proud to be woman-owned! This shop has been my pride and joy since I opened its doors in 2009. Only 3 people, including myself, run the shop: my best friend (Sal) and husband (Adriel)...we are the only friendly faces behind the counter in this treasure trove of nostalgic wonder. I've always been an entrepreneur of sorts since I was a teen. I used to book bands and run fun all ages dance events in the 90's thru 2014. I am also a musician and artist. It's a 100% fair trade shop which made me love it even more. I purchased a beautiful purple wind chime and a cute greeting card for my husband. There was a mishap on the card (another card was stuck behind it - same exact card but I didn't need 2, just 1)! The cashier and I both didn't notice when I was inside the shop. She wrapped up my wind chime and bagged the card (now discovered to be two). When I got home, I phoned them right away when I saw the other card was stuck to it! I explained what happened and asked to pay for the mishap! Gigi was extremely helpful in figuring out how I could do so and thanked me for my honesty. I'm just glad we could sort it out! So just be aware if you pick up a greeting card to check another card isn't stuck to it! The pricing of items: very fair! presentation of the overall store: very good! customer service: great! Here you can find a wide variety of hand-crafted goods. And there is quite a myriad of objects on display. There are a large number of hand-woven bags, rugs and tapestries for use or display (or both). One wall is almost entirely devoted to jewelry. And there's a very large collection of pottery, including bowls, dishes and coffee mugs. This place is an excellent place to shop for those who are intrigued by foreign cultures. And the prices are extremely reasonable. And besides for being reasonable, you can find nice pieces in the under ten dollar range, well into the one hundred and fifty or more. There really is something for any budget. I was greeted when I entered the store and asked if I needed help...but was not asked every five minutes (something that I see as a major plus). Check out was a breeze with the clerk on duty. I will definitely come again.

I had to whip out my phone because why would a store be closed on a Tuesday at a day and time of normal operating hours? Another family with a little girl asked if we came to see the store and I said yes. She said they posted on their Instagram they were closed and were also saddened they couldn't go inside. I get that things happen but we live 1.5 hours away and made a dr specialist appt nearby and made sure to stop here specifically since we were finally close. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is. I don't go on social media to make sure a business is open that day. I *did* check their website and they were supposed to be open. From what we saw the first time around (picked over items) and what we could see through the glass the second time, we won't ever be coming back for a third time. The store is small, not a huge selection, but a higher price point for the same items found elsewhere. I told my daughter if she saw anything through the glass then I would just google it and buy it online for her. I would much rather support small businesses but it makes it hard when they don't really seem to value their customers. As I said, this store is quite small and doesn't have anything we wanted that we couldn't buy elsewhere. I wish they were better stocked the first time and had more employees to actually run the business during their supposed operating hours, but this just left my daughter devastated and me frustrated and angry the second time. Many people who shop in Old Town Pasadena focus on the stores easily accessible from the main street, Colorado. However, some of the shops off the main drag, such as the ones on Holly Street, are unique and fascinating. The two Retreats do share merchandise in common. You will find a bevy of delightful greeting cards, jewelry and candles at both. However, I would strongly encourage you to visit both shops, because each has some items that you won't find at the other location. It was at this shop that I first saw the owner's, Diane, artwork on display. She's made a significant collection of gorgeous, shimmering mandalas. I remember the first time I saw them a couple year ago and I was quite impressed. Since then, you will see more of her mandalas at both Retreat locations, as well as some of the pieces that evolved from her work with these pieces of sacred geometry. Like the other Retreat, this is an excellent gift shop. My stationary drawer is positively overflowing with cards I've bough here. I love shopping at Retreat because I always find something, small or large, that's just right for a friend of mine. Whenever I look through the cards that I've found here I get excited for the right time to send a particular card to a particular friend or family member. It is very easy to find something for any budget. I've found so many fun trinkets, amusing coasters and clever devices to have around the house. And all of these things were around twenty dollars or less. The jewelry, of course, is going to be a bit more pricey, but I feel you are definitely paying for quality. The staff on duty have always been nothing but helpful and friendly. I always enjoy chatting with whoever is minding the store at the moment. Definitely recommend.

They gave other colored options just in case the green and yellow was unavailable. After I got off the phone, they let me know the price (about $71) which needed to be paid before they can put the order in. I venmoed the money over and received a photo of the lei the day before graduation. I let her know that I will be in the morning of the graduation to pick it up and everything went smoothly! My honey and I came in to purchase a boutonniere for his 50th birthday celebration. From the moment we walked in, the energy felt off. I immediately noticed there was no clear explanation of the process -- I had to ask questions just to understand how things worked. Despite that, I gave very clear and specific instructions: a red rose, wrapped with black trim, gold-sprayed leaves, and baby's breath. On the day of pickup, I called to confirm the order was ready and was met with rudeness over the phone. When I arrived and saw the boutonniere, I was completely disappointed -- there was no baby's breath. When I asked about it, I was told, "Oh, I didn't put it. I thought what I added looked more elegant." Imagine paying for something and having someone change your order based on their personal preference. That is unacceptable. I had to firmly express my concerns and insist that it be corrected to match what we originally discussed and ordered. While I waited for it to be fixed, it was frustrating to say the least. Instead of baby's breath, she added small yellow flowers that would have completely clashed with his suit and the color theme of his party. Thank goodness this was not our wedding day -- the outcome could have been an absolute disaster. I'm sharing this so others are aware: double-check your order before leaving. Unfortunately, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this business.

I have been to meowmeowz a few times and I never know what I'm going to find there, whether it's something I've been looking for or even something random and interesting that I wasn't expecting. The owner of the store is friendly and usually knows what I'm talking about when I'm looking for some old rock or punk memorabilia and she's was willing to buy some of my old collectibles as well. We stopped by while heading over to zyphers and on that particular night they had a crowd gathered for an indoor concert. While my friend and I were a little shy to enter as we werent as punked out as the rest of the crowd, we were actually welcomed in and able to enjoy the music.
