I SO WANT to give this place 5-stars! PLEASE, PLEASE friends NEVER drop off your used goods to Goodwill or Salvation Army...there are numerous reasons if you do not already know. So, I have been taking my items here and loving it. They support this lovely organization https://hovinghome.org/ AND I have seen with my OWN eyes the inside of this home for women and all of the used clothing they have to choose from...it is wonderful! So??? Why only 3-stars? They just limited their DONATION HOURS...punishing folks for donating and making it TERRIBLY inconvenient. DON'T punish the people that donate to you!!! If you need to cut back on staff or hours...do so, but don't cut back on your donors. I already drive 7-miles to drop off my goods and I have been happy to do so. BUT NOW, you limit the hours? I am a working gal and cannot get there in such a tight window...ugh! I feel dismissed and will find another great place to donate that offers hours to SERVE the folks that support them. Thank-you while it lasted....

This is not your hoity-toity, ladies-who-do-lunch kind of thrift shop. This is a place where you might see folks who are down and out, a bit on the fringe, or just plain bargain hunters like me! There's a young man who works here who wears a tutu! The funky girl behind the counter has tattoos. You get the idea...that being said, you can find some cool deals here if you know what to look for. I've purchased Disney VHS tapes for $0.99 (yes, I have a VHS player that still works!). I found a Disney Fantasia hat for $5.99 (probably retailed for $45). If you know your designer labels, you can find treasure amongst the less desirable stuff...I found a Hugo Boss sweater for $5.99, a Hurley tshirt for $1.99 and my greatest deal yet...a Liz Claiborne long red pure SILK suit jacket for $9.99 (unworn, tags on, retailed for $228!!!) Anytime I'm in the neighborhood, I am definitely going to stop by. Added incentive: Carmela Ice Cream is just across the street... Yelp Challenge 2019: 12/100

I'll always prefer a thrift store that requires some digging and a discerning eye over one that's highly curated, mostly because of the prices (but also because of the thrill). ACTS is really small but packs a punch for sure. Shop here for home and kitchen stuff, holiday decorations, and decor. If you're crafty, definitely check out their craft supply section--it isn't huge, but I found some real gems there. The clothes section was just okay and they didn't have much in the way of furniture (or at least didn't while I was there), so I'd look elsewhere if you're in the market for those things. They had a section of special stuff (think juicers, blenders, sound equipment) behind the front desk. I didn't look too closely or inquire about prices, but worth perusing for sure. I left with a cool vase, some spoons, and some craft tools and was given a 50% off coupon for a visit the following week. I'd say the only downsides to this place are parking and the fact that it can get a little crowded. I'll probably avoid all thrift stores on the weekends (kind of a best practice for all the time, but especially during COVID. ACTS shares a lot with 7 Eleven and there weren't any spots available when I visited, but I was able to find something across the street on Washington.

1/2 off on blue tags this week!!!

Friendly staff. Decent prices. Would love to see the book of Acts in action at burning items that are completely demonic.

No you may drop off your donation anytime the store is open. Staff will be happy to help you unload your car if you have a large donation.

Tone R. In the business bio states ACTS takes E waste donations yet when I tried donating E cables and old batteries I was told they only accept what is seen in the store for sale which was mainly clothes items and household items.

The organization works to assure that public schools are in compliance with state & federal laws regarding sexual orientation& gender identity, and that academic achevement should not be limited by being part of a marginalized social group. Our major program is the "Models of Excellence" scholarship competition for Southern California senior high school students who have advanced LGBT rights." Just as our wise founding forefathers developed checks & balances in the Federal government, society also needs various organizations to monitor public policy to ensure that the rules & laws governing equality under the law is implemented fairly & consistently. Good laws can be formulated by governing agencies, but officials in charge may not always comply & sometimes may be counter-productive & damaging. Project 10 is thus such a counter-balance so that there is compliance & execution of policy that brings a measure of equality & rights to LGBT students . I recently went to a Friends of Project 10 fund raiser at the home of Virginia & Gail, the organizers. It was an eclectic gathering of people of many orientations who were primarily interested in furthering opportunities of leadership & scholarship for LGBT youth. No matter of what stripe, it is our youth who will be the movers & shakers in our future society. It is imperative that we encourage & support their education & initiative so that they will be able to handle & manage the problems in our future society. Without youth being prepared for the eventuality of taking over, our American society will be in a dire position of decline. It is up to us as adults to facilitate support & help this transition. The backyard fund raiser was a good way to interact & network with people from diverse backgrounds & cultures as well as meeting many people (straight & LGBT) representing different organizations that function as the checks & balances needed in a free society. One of the more specialized organizations is the San Gabriel Valley Asian Pacific Islander PFLAG. Its amazing how our internet oriented nation is so full of special interest groups that appeal to such a wide range of needs. My husband and I have been fostering two bunnies from Bunny World Foundation (BWF) for about a year…read morenow. After losing our previous bunny unexpectedly, which totally wrecked us, we found immense comfort and support through this incredible community of rabbit lovers. Lejla, Jane, and the long-time volunteers are exceptionally knowledgeable about bunny care and wellness, and they truly care about every single animal. Bunnies are not "easy" pets, so having a whole community to lean on and ask questions around the clock makes the world of difference. Because of BWF, I've become a much better caretaker in providing a suitable environment, proper diet, and grooming. Fostering Popcorn and Zoe has been such a joy. It's unfortunate that people tend to overlook REWs (Ruby-Eyed Whites) because of their eyes, but Zoe is brilliant! She's a smart girl who has recently started zooming and binkying the second she hears the fridge open up until you set that nice plate of greens down. While she prefers her enclosure, if you step into her space, she'll happily demand pets and treats. Popcorn is a curious guy who explores the house every day as if it's his first time seeing it yet we can completely trust him not to chew on anything! He earned his name from the hilarious midair body shakes during his binkies, witnessing one will absolutely make your day. He is notorious for his afternoon nap flops as well. Zoe is definitely the dominant one, which means Popcorn grooms her every single day. We can always tell when Zoe tries to return the favor because she's... not great at it. Popcorn ends up looking like he just rolled out of bed! Both of them are incredibly well-behaved, used to being groomed, and will happily sit in your lap for hours during a grooming session. Hopefully Popcorn and Zoe can find their perfect forever home where they will have more space to binky and explore! If you are looking to adopt, foster, or support a rescue that truly knows and cares for rabbits, Bunny World Foundation is an amazing option.

I was fortunate to win a ticket from Yelp for Union Station Homeless Services' annual fundraiser…read more My ticket allowed me to participate virtually in the Roarin' 2021 Evening for the Station event and silent auction and also included a boxed meal from Porta Via. Union Station Homeless Services is a nonprofit committed to helping individuals and families facing hunger, poverty, and homelessness in the community by providing the tools and resources they need to rebuild their lives. Last year, during the pandemic, they helped over 1,000 people find homes and employment. The day before the fundraiser I stopped by their office to pick up my boxed meal from Porta Via. Porta Via is a casual Italian market, deli, bakery & restaurant located in Pasadena. My meal consisted of roasted vegetable skewers, orecchiette pesto pasta salad, and mixed greens with feta, cranberries with a light vinaigrette. (Grilled Salmon and Grilled Chicken Kabobs were the other options.) Everything was delicious! This year's Evening for the Station was a hybrid event held virtually and in person. The in-person function was held at the University Club Pasadena. Entertainment for the evening featured performances from the Gerry Rothschild Band and a variety dance show by Todd Elliot Entertainment. Union Station's CEO Anne Miskey told us about all the wonderful work the nonprofit does. Gerry Rothschild mentioned that he also volunteers for Union Station Homeless Services and serves lunches every Thursday. There were some technical difficulties with the live feed but, overall, it was a very enjoyable event. The music was good, the dancers were fantastic, and there were some great items available in the silent auction, which I did bid on. Thank you so much Megan & Yelp for the opportunity to enjoy this experience.

I decided to attend through zoom because we're going through Covid. I was able to pick up a meal the day before. I got the grilled salmon by Porta Via. I was able to listen to music that I don't normally listen to but enjoyed every second of it. There were items being auctioned but I wasn't able to place a bid on anything unfortunately. I really did appreciate every moment of this experience. I remember I used to come to their Holly location and volunteer with my church during Thanksgiving so I was super excited to have won tickets to this event.
