Re-opened! Having a get together with our dear English Teacher at Miya for lunch and noticed a bright colorful shop opening up across the street. So strolled over while waiting for the restaurant to open. Walking up, the storefront window was full of smartly designed t-shirts and Altadena inspired items, very cute stuff throughout the store. Since, I don't have a cute bone in my body, grabbed a friend and told her she needed another shirt in her rotation. She got her camp inspired tshirt, I got both a cloth tote bag for the farmer's market and a refrigerator magnet with Altadena inspired logos for my Teacher and it was money well spent. Great quality material and lovely design; really inexpensive for the 3 items. This is a great community store, nice place to pick up gifts for friends. Super adorable and beautifullyrics decorated vintage inspired shop. I drove by and had to stop. The store was closing in 10 minutes but the nice woman working there did not make me feel rushed. Into vintage? This is it! While I'm not too into vintage clothing, they have really cute dresses, accessories, and home decor. All of the clothes are brand new (not second hand). I like this shop for their cardigans. My favorite cardigan that I own is from this shop, and they have all colors of the rainbow of the same style. The shop recently went through a full remodel, and it looks GREAT! Every dressing room is themed from a different era, they expanded the floor, and put in a cool disco ball. The cutest boutique ever! If you want unique pieces with great colors and great fabrics go here. The fitting rooms all have themes. My favorite is the tiki lounge. This store is absolutely fabulous! It's my new favorite go-to shop for clothes, shoes, jewelry, and gifts!! Not only are the clothes gorgeous and wide-ranging within a vintage-yet-hip vibe, but the environment of the shop itself is so charming and clearly decorated with love and care. I prefer going in store physically to try on clothes before purchasing because you never know. Its not easy finding good vintage at physical store locations, so a retro clothing store *meaning brand new clothes that are based in vintage styles* are the next best thing. I believe there was a location in a Burbank mall, but this seems to be the only store now. The store presentation & layout is lovely, so initially I was excited, even though I had mixed feelings when I first browsed their website. As I browsed through, the prices vary greatly as it depends on the vendor, & seems higher than when it was in Burbank. Some prices are reasonable $35 for a sweater but then a thin blouse that looks like it came from a Goth swapmeet will be $44. This store is a mixed bag- a blend of 50's rockabilly, some Hot Topic, Halloween Store, and Forever 21. Many of the retro dresses have juvenile, kitschy prints, and the material tends to be a bit stiff; might wear when going out, but not necessarily at your day job. Sidecca isn't unique in this regard as many of the retro clothing stores online & on Magnolia St in Burbank seem to offer the same. Lots of flouncy circle skirts that aren't flattering unless one's hips are small / narrow. There were some cute items, but a lot of it fit awkwardly, or the quality felt off. I might add, that like Forever 21, they only do Exchanges or store credit within 30 days, no refunds. Background music was 1980s top 40, which didn't seem to go with the somewhat 50's Halloween rockabilly retro theme. Customer service is brisk & rudimentary, neither friendly nor rude. I suggest looking at their website & IG to see if it's for you. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit, but likely not going to drive out of my way anytime soon. Alas, the search for a reasonably priced retro clothing continues. read more

Sidecca is such a fun store with a huge variety of retro clothing, shoes, accessories, and quirky gift items! If something catches your eye, go inside and have a look around. I was intrigued by the store for years but didn't venture inside until last year when my best friend and I decided to check it out after lunch at Millie's (which is right around the corner from Sidecca). My friend and I had a great time trying on so many beautiful dresses! It's so refreshing to score outfits that are well made, quirky, and unique. Also, the dressing rooms are clean and adorable. Sidecca went above and beyond when over the holidays a gift I bought for someone was misplaced amongst the madness of opening Christmas gifts and having mounds of wrapping paper strewn everywhere. I wanted to surprise my friend with cute La Croix earrings but we couldn't find her gift anywhere. I emailed Sidecca and they responded quickly saying they could order the earrings. The store is adorable, they have wonderful items. Their in-store size offerings for clothing is disappointing. I walked in, excited to shop and get a few new clothes, and left with just some accessories because nothing in the store that I like (and I liked a LOT) came in my size. I know some of the brands they carry have larger sizes online but its rare to find a 2X let alone a 3x or higher in store based off my visit. I won't be returning sadly, will go to Unique Vintage in Burbank as they carry bigger sizes in store for big women to try on. read more
