The team who packed and stored our items for our military move was excellent! They packed our 1 bedroom apartment in about an hour and were careful with our items. If I could give zero stars, I would. Crosstown Movers showed a complete lack of integrity during our military pack-out. They intentionally falsified condition codes on more than 15 pages of inventory documentation. This was a deliberate attempt to prevent us from filing damage claims once our items arrived. We bought most of our furniture brand new in July 2024, and the movers picked it up in May 2025--less than a year later. There was no damage, no stains, no wear, yet Crosstown Movers listed multiple codes claiming otherwise. This was not a mistake. It was deception. After 24 years of my husband serving this country, this was his final pack-out. It is infuriating and sad that a company trusted to handle military families' belongings would commit such fraudulent acts. We will be filing an Inspector General complaint and documenting this with every available agency. I strongly advise military members and families to avoid this company. They are dishonest, careless, and absolutely not worthy of the trust placed in them. read more

We had Dave, Mario and Jason in November to pack out our home and they were absolutely amazing. Our home took two days to pack out and unlike other movers we've had previously, they actually cared and thought ahead about my family. Having a young child and no bed isn't the most fun. They specifically left us our master room bed so we had somewhere to sleep for the night before our cross country trip, the next night. I cannot express how that helped for our transition. We've had movers for the last 10 years and were treated very much just as "another house" like a number if you'd say. These guys were top tier, fast and friendly. Quick, friendly, and professional! We move a lot, this was the fastest and most painless experience so far.

They were hired by the Military to do our pack out. We're missing several things. They took 6 professional moving blankets, I assume they thought they were theirs, but now we're out those. Missing two garden flag holders, they broke 2 industrial sized tubs that are $95 a piece. They threw bocce balls on top of a lamp. We loved this, they actually bent a curtain rod to make it fit in the box. Good help is hard to find these days. Edited to say- Across town movers did in fact pick up our goods and store them. They also packed them which is where some of the items were damaged. Not disputing the fact some items were damaged by other movers. However, if you read my review clearly I only commented on the things I could prove Across Town Movers damaged. Unless Mary is saying someone else threw bocce balls on a lamp, and someone else broke a curtain rod to make it fit the box. Someone else unwrapped items in OUR packing blankets and took them. Show me all the documents you'd like, it does NOT change the FACT your company BROKE and damaged items during PACKING. Own it. Just apologize. I'm getting money for the claim either way. read more

In the military and have done over a dozen moves. Would say this was the worst moving company I've ever worked with. The folks who did the packing were unprofessional and tried to rush through the job. They used my kids artwork as packing paper. Forgot to pack a drawer and cabinet and when I told them they missed it, they acted like I was forcing them to do their job. They were too cheap to use moving labels on my furniture but instead used office labels that are terrible to peel off. A piece of furniture showed up with a huge gouge in it and it was like pulling teeth to get them to reimburse me. Would not recommend this place to anyone until they figure out how to control their quality and train their employees to be professional movers. read more

They refused to pack until my guy friends, Thao & Chris, showed up. 2. They broke a dining room chair 3. Some items were going to storage and some to the new place. I have so much to say about this company but I will stick to the facts. They broke my favorite frame and do not want to pay for it. They even sent an appraiser to look at it and now are claiming there is no proof the frame is double-sided glass and are telling us we will have to pretty much sue them if we want the money. Well your appraiser can tell you if it is or not, as he came to look at it. This is just ridiculous. Let's not even talk about costumer service. The woman who we are dealing with (Mary) is the worst person for the job, she needs a lot of costumer service training and email etiquette. read more

A co-worker recently used Across Town Movers so decided to for my move from San Marcos to Oceanside. From the call early on moving day from Eric letting me know when he expected to arrive, i knew i was in good hands. I said i was excited to get started and Eric said "we're excited to help you with your move". When he got there (during the expected timeframe), he went over the paperwork and he and his team (Dave and Alexis) got started. They worked hard and expertly fit 21 years worth of my stuff in the truck. No breaks until they took a much deserved lunch break on the drive over to unload. We were assigned this company for our HHG (mil move), if it weren't for the time sensitive move I would have fired them. Half of our kitchen was not packed and left behind. We are missing boxes of our belongings, our gym gear that is work over $3k is scratched, and our dry household supplies are nowhere to be found. I am DISGUSTED with the packing services. WHO PUTS DIRTY SHOES ON TOP OF CLEAN CLOTHES?! To top it all of, during a pandemic and there being no social distancing rules followed! We don't know the people from Adam, vise versa. When a rep emailed to follow up on the move and received a response in regards to our experience, never did she respond to the poor service and dissatisfaction that was expressed in my response. To conclude; this experience has pushed me to never wanting to hire a packing company again, I will pack myself. read more

I had no say in who the movers would be primarily because of how fast we needed to pull off the move and Across Town movers were the ones available. While these guys weren't the worst, they certainly weren't the best and I'd say sub-par. The good news is it looks like they are the only ones I have heard of that don't charge a 3 hour work time minimum. I was willing to pay for the 3 hours if they had actually taken any direction I gave them. When it was clear they didn't listen, I just stood back and said, "whatever". 2 guys came, a young guy who did virtually nothing while things were being loaded unless it absolutely took more than one person (I think after the initial survey, I only saw him help with the sofa and a heavy book case). He left everything to the older guy who complained every step of the way. "Aaawe man, I have to do that now?" was his frequent comment when I pointed out things that need to be loaded. And because the other guy just stood back at the truck texting and calling (in his defense it sounded like he was talking to other moving teams) other people, I can't even fault the older guy too much. When we got to the new location they both worked as more of a team, but took no direction at all and everything seemed okay, but now a few weeks later I am seeing scratches on furniture now that I am digging out of the mess. read more

Move was late Feb, 2019. The military assigns movers to you, so I did not choose them, but if you are conducting a military move, request a new company. They were clearly rushed (showed up late, under-manned; said they were in an accident) and it shows in the condition my house hold goods arrived. I am missing several tools, a toolkit, an expensive table, and all of the hardware for our TV and furniture. To be clear: they took apart all the furniture they possibly could (despite it not being necessary and over my objections once or twice) and lost all the parts to put it back together. The feet of the couch, TV power cable, TV mount parts, all the nuts and bolts for the bed frame, tables, book shelves, dresser, wheels to the BBQ, everything. Some of these parts cannot be replaced. On top of that many things were shoved into boxes that didn't need to be and are now broken (posters, a knife I almost cut myself on). They literally ripped apart an IKEA dresser...its in pieces now and a complete loss. They even tried to blame the parts box missing on us ("they took it") according to the driver that delivered our goods at destination. Maybe this experience isn't typical, but is it worth the risk? Pick another company. read more

The property office on base used this company to move us. I am disappointed and disgusted with how my furniture looked when we got them on Friday. The movers showed up NOT wearing any masks. I have a medically fragile daughter which is unacceptable. After seeing the condition of my items I immediately called the office to let them know that my items were damaged. I am still waiting for an email from the manager with instructions on the next step moving forward on how to put in a claim for these damages. My husband already contacted the property office on base and we will provide them with videos and pictures. My new Samsung touch screen fridge has scratches and dents all over it. The doors were not protected with anything. They were tossed into the containers that they store them in. My sofa, dining room set all look like they had them sitting in a dirty ass area. The chairs were not rapped with anything to protect them. The movers clearly didn't care about our items and it shows. All the parts to our beds, entertainment system, washer, and dryer were tossed into papers and placed into random boxes without ANY proper labeling. My family and are opening up boxes just to find the parts to these items. This is absolutely the WORSE packaging I have seen. It is extremely frustrating opening up boxes and things are not labeled. When I asked the guys who dropped our furniture off if they will put the beds back together because they were the ones that pulled them down, I was told they don't do that. Not even the washer and dryers were placed in their right spot nor did they hook them up. I will NOT recommend this company and I hope the military stop using them to move service members. The worst packers ever! We've had numerous military moves and this was by far the worst packing job we've ever had. I don't know how they did it, but managed to pack items from different rooms into the same box. An example is that I have stuff from my living room in boxes with items from the garage. Everything is labeled "office". Empty soda cans and plastic bottles that the movers drank from and empty packing tape holder (cardboard center) were also thrown into numerous boxes. We are still trying to sort things out and find items that go together. I haven't found my hair dryer or hooks for my shower curtain, but yet have all the other stuff from my bathroom unpacked. They used zero wardrobe boxes, everything was stuffed into flatter, rectangular boxes. They also removed the legs from everything (dining table/benches) and I still can't find legs to a bench because they didn't put it with the seat of the bench, it's very baffling. Parts are missing to put things together, several items broken including some sentimental military plaques, hole punched in the back or our wine bar, lamp shade thrown in box with no wrapping, it's ripped and bent. I can go on and on. Oh and they didn't use the normal small colored labels you get with major moving companies for invoicing the property, they used a simple (bigger) white label you get from an office store and it is impossible to get off of the furniture. We will be contacting the Navy Household Goods to let them know how bad they are. I'd stay far away from this company. Edited to add: I see other reviews from military members and I sincerely hope the military ceases to use them. This is not anything they can blame on the actual movers, this was all done at the pack out. Our movers did not unload any of our boxes. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. We had several issues but I will be brief. They delayed and dragged out the move to prolong and add additional expense. When they arrived they were very efficient and loaded fall of the truck within two hours. However when they noted the time it was as if they shifted into slow motion. It took 14 hours and should have been 10. Also told us that they were bonded and insured so we choose to have them pack for us. We have several valuable fragile items and would not have chosen this option had they not mad it clear they were insured. When they arrived they assured us that the insurance was excellent and had us execute a contract. They not only broke over $600 in glass items, they also broke two pieces of framed art and the leg on an Art Deco table, which they attempted to disguise by taping the damaged piece. Our move was mid June and we have been attempting to get them to honor the insurance ever since. Today we received an email saying we didn't opt in for the insurance. What a scam. We will be filing in small claims and disputing the credit card. Don't get caught in the same trap. read more

I recently moved from San Diego to Scottsdale and contacted 3 moving companies for bids. Eric from Across Town Movers came out gave me a bid suggested using a team to move out because of the building I was in he dropped off boxes, paper and tape coached me on how to pack certain things. Game on the move out was great not so much as a scratch on the wall. The guys were super great to work with and helped ease what can be a challenging event. Fast forward delivery day it was 111 in Scottsdale and the guys arrived and in short order we were unloaded. They put the furniture back together there was absolutely no damage and again this team was so kind and thoughtful. I would highly recommend Across Town Movers for your next move. These guys are certified pros! We have used them twice now and this most recent move we dealt with Jordan who was prompt and professional from start to finish. His team works quick and are incredibly friendly and helpful which helps ease the pain and headache of moving in general. They showed up with absolutely everything we needed from mattress bags to extra step ladders, brooms, tape, boxes, straps, etc. Our stuff filled their 25ft truck to the gills and had the entire move out and unload process done in less than 5 hours! Couches, 6ft tall storage units, a stand up piano, gigantic bunk beds, couches - everything moved WITHOUT A SINGLE SCRATCH, DING OR DENT in no time. Highly recommend this crew! read more

Hands down the worst pack job in the 20 years my husband was in the military. Not only was one of the packers rude. Assuming I didn't understand him speaking in Spanish. Absolute racist. But I didn't say a word, just kept listening for fear they'd screw up our move. Now that we're unpacking...what a joke! There were even items packed with no labels. Stuff shoved into our deep freezer but not mentioned on the list. Then parts just everywhere for our bicycles with not a tag in sight for anything. Hopefully we have every piece. Who knows? It's been quite a scavenger hunt to find things. Pieces to our entertainment center have been found in multiple boxes. Still missing one piece. Hopefully it'll turn up. Also, we had the locking bolts to our front load washing machine in place. Simply asked them to make sure they were in good enough. When we went to hook it up, no bolts in sight. We ended up finding them packed up in a parts box. Who does that????? Here's to hoping it works! Maybe raise the bar a little on who you hire in the future. read more

This company literally did not show up on our moving day. What. A. Nightmare. They were supposed to arrive between 8-10am. I got a call at 10:05am that they were having "issues" and wouldn't be able to make it. I panicked, as we had no other options! They called back a while later and said "ok, two of our guys can come, they are on their way from San Marcos and will be there in 30 min". That was a bold-faced lie. 1 hour later I called back and the operator, Mary, said they weren't coming. So we wasted another few hours waiting on this second let down! I desperately called around all day, in tears, trying to find someone else to move us. We had no option but to be out that afternoon. Route 66 movers came through as my heroes. I have 3 small children and they got us in so that my kids could go to bed before midnight in actual beds. Across Town Movers- you let us down in the worst possible way. You made, what should have been an exciting day for me and my family, a horribly stressful one. I tried calling Trisdan that day and, of course, no answer. Cliff was "on vacation" and was no help either. You should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

I would give Across Town Movers a "Minus 10" stars if I could!!!! We moved from Carlsbad to Nevada and what a nightmare with this company. After letting the Owner and both his son's, who both work for the company know that one of there employees stole my wife's wedding ring out of her purse that was in our luggage in the master bath room. They had all the employees that worked that day take a lie detector test and one of the guys "Failed Miserably" My wife had this ring for 26 years...I talked to the owner personally and let him know we let the police know as well. We filled out all the paper work and got a case number... The owner said they would pay for the ring if the Carlsbad Police could not get the ring back!!! After a couple of months of talking to both the police as well as the owner we filed a claim with across town movers, as the owner told us to do. When he found out that his insurance company would not pay because they only cover moved goods and not some thing that was stolen by his employees he said that he would not cover the ring and to sew him if I felt the need to do that... They also arrived Two and a half hours late and as well misjudged the amount of goods we had so they had to call another truck that took an hour of lost time!!! Extremely unprofessional and not helpful at all! I am military and had my furniture put in nontemporary storage for less than a year. The movers were fine for the packup and the delivery. However, when I attempted to file a claim (through the company and not the DTS system because my move was not entered in the system) they were incredibly difficult. They informed me that my claim was denied because I would not allow them to come look at my damaged furniture when, in fact, I had asked MANY times what they needed from me and done everything that they asked for! They told me to file with the MCO which means that I will only be able to get depriciated value for my claim. (And all of this when THEIR movers documented all of the damage that I was claiming before I signed the final paperwork!). I dread giving them even one star as they surely do not deserve it! Have barely begun unpacking and it's already the worst nightmare move we have ever had! We are a Navy family and this was our 11th move over a 29 year span. Never have we had such an atrocity on our hands. While one might think that a rack of brand-new expensive suits would be hung neatly in a wardrobe container that has a bar across it to hang the suits...think again! Many of my husband's suits and uniforms ended up wadded up into boxes which went into storage for a month in heat and ended up coming out a disastrous wad of garbage!! One would also think that a Sleep Number bed that requires many controls and quite a bit of electrical equipment might be packaged together in the same box, and LABELED appropriately. Nope! Didn't happen! 5 days into unpacking and we have yet to locate the necessary equipment to put our bed together! Clothes dryer...dropped and dented on top and NOT WORKING! As we are unpacking we are noticing many items missing/stolen. And just to add insult to injury the movers begged for tips all day long on delivery day at my house! Being that this move was contracted through the Navy, we had no say on the moving company they selected. In our many moves we have had excellent service from Paul Arpin and Mayflower. If you have a choice make your move with those companies! Oh, by the way.... I'm a Realtor and I will surely caution my clients to NOT use Crosstown Movers! Worst company I have ever dealt with. Please check out my complaint and pictures. An employee of Across Town Movers came to my home to give me a quote; he quoted me in writing $85.00 an hour flat rate for both loading and unloading our belongings and $30.00 to $50.00 a day for storage. He also stated that our belongings would also be safe and secure throughout the entire process. The movers were scheduled to arrive at approximately 8:00 am on Wednesday October 28, 2015. The movers actually arrived at 9:30 am on the same date. The movers loaded our belongings and finished at 1:45 pm, which is 4 hours and 15 minutes of work. They then proceeded to charge us $522.50 for the work, which is way more than the $85.00 per hour quote. When I called to protest the charge the employee started to add on additional charges that were not described in the written quote and after much discussion they agreed to refund $140.00 dollars, which still leaves the price higher than the original written quote of $85.00 per hour. The movers then told us that they would deliver our belongings on Tuesday November 3, 2015 between 8:00 am and 9:00 am; they did not arrive until 1:30 pm. During the unloading process the movers ran one of our belongings into to our home chipping off a large chunk of the stucco. They also put a large scratch in the molding of our doors ways. They bumped the dolly wheel against our door leaving a large black mark on it. They neglected to put anything on our carpet thus tracking in mud from both their feet and the dolly. One of the movers also took a piece of fruit form my neighbor's fruit tree without permission. Another mover also made an unprofessional comment to a member of my family. When the movers opened one of the wooden vaults that was on a flatbed truck they realized that rain water had seeped in from the top of the wooden vault completely soaking our mattress and box spring that are valued at $1999.99. The wooden vault was not covered with a tarp or any sort of waterproofing, and the mattress and box spring were uncovered in the vault. The movers left the mattress in the kitchen so it could air out. They stated they did not want to put it on the carpet because it was soaked with water. They also left their own pads to place it on so it would not get our floors wet. There were several other miscellaneous items that were broke and a lot of our belongings had mud on them. The movers finished and left at 4:15 pm which left 15 minutes before the 3 hour minimum I paid for. I paid $505.00 for the delivery and unload which was the agreed upon price from the written out quote, shortly after the movers left I received an email from an Across town Movers employee stating that I owed an extra $180.00 dollars in hidden charges. I protested the charges and did not pay them. Later upon further inspection of our mattress and box springs, I realized that both were ruined. The box spring was soaked with water and was also discolored. The wood in the box spring had become warped from the water. The mattress was completely soaked with water from top to bottom and still has not dried out over 2 days later. Also, the majority of the mattress is covered with yellow stains from the rain water, and one side of the mattress was caked in mud. I contacted the company to tell them what had happened and they told me to file a claim, which I did. The following day an employee came to look and take pictures of the mattress and box springs. He agreed the mattress and box springs were ruined and stated that it was a pretty cut and dry claim. Shortly after he came to take pictures I received an email from another employee stating I would only receive $120.00 to replace the mattress and box springs valued at $1999.99. I then called to speak to the owner to try and resolve this situation. He said that he would look into to it and get back to me. I have yet to hear from him. read more
