I am very confused by the good reviews here and would love to know what happened on the unlucky day I booked Green Movers for. I had the WORST moving experience of my life with this company. The people they sent were NOT trained, professional movers at all. TLDR: showed up 4 hours late, damaged multiple pieces of furniture and my brand new floors, were extremely slow (7 hours for a 500sq ft 1 bedroom move 2 miles away), demanding, and inappropriate. Took a smoke break at least once every hour while on the clock. They broke my building's elevator, got stuck in it for 1 hour (charged me for the time). FINISHED at 2 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING. Horrendous. Upon booking, I was told they'd be out of my building no problem by 5pm, as that was an HOA rule. They were supposed to arrive between 1-3pm and when I hadn't heard anything by 2pm I called and was told they're still at least 2 hours away... 4pm rolls around.. nothing. I tried calling and got no response. At 4:45 a mover calls me, complaining that he got called in on his day off, and he's on his way. An HOUR later he shows up at 5:45pm, 45 minutes after they were supposed to have been out of my building. WHO wants to BEGIN a move at 5:45pm?? Covid/Omnicron was peaking and the movers showed up with no masks and refused to wear them after I asked. They claimed "breathing was hard" and they couldn't do the job in a mask. I moved the previous year during covid and my movers had no issue with masks, and were about 3x as fast. I asked several times throughout the night as I was getting more and more uncomfortable. One of the movers, JB, would come extremely close to me, breathing and coughing in my face. I stayed in an N95 the entire time and was appalled they refused to do so. The movers took about 10 smoke breaks throughout the night, on the clock. Maybe all the chain smoking is why "breathing is hard" in masks?!?! I have a handmade, fragile piece of art that I explained over and over and over it was to be handled with care. Hours later, I was on my balcony looking down at the movers, wondering why they hadn't come back up, and they were taking a smoke break (one of MANY) and the piece of art was partly leaning against the truck in a super sloppy way. Seconds later, I watched it crash to the ground. Heartbreaking. They were not apologetic. They left tons of pieces of furniture damaged, scratched the brand new floors in my new apartment, and were not at all apologetic. One of the movers claimed it was his "first day on the job" and was carrying my stuff around like it was garbage. These were NOT trained, professional movers at all. My outdoor daybed was less than a year old and is destroyed - every piece of it is beyond repair (photos attached). The move took over 7 hours and ended at 2am. That is not an appropriate time to be moving things in a building where the walls are thin and apartments are close together. I moved from Los Angeles last year and it took 5 hours, including the 2 hour drive time. When the move finally ended and I had to sign paperwork, JB had a phone that apparently wasn't his, he couldn't get into, and we sat outside my building for 15 minutes while he tried to unlock this phone. He would not show me what exactly I was signing, stating he didn't know how to use the phone. I did not feel comfortable to argue, being alone with these creepy men at 2am outside my new residence. They were holding the elevator in my move-out building and got it stuck. One of the movers got stuck in there, adding 45 minutes to the clock that I paid for. I lived in that building for a year and the elevator never had any issues. The technician who came out to fix it that night said it was because they were holding it open. One of the movers (JB), twice came out of the bathroom with his pants completely unbuttoned, underwear very visible. This is extremely unprofessional and gross, and made me very uncomfortable as a solo woman with him and another man in my apartment. I was not comfortable being alone with them in the late hours of the night in my home but had no other choice. I would never ever go near this company again. They are horrifically unprofessional and I have no idea where they find their "movers." I would have done the entire move myself with a friend over using these guys again. They gave me a laughable $150 back, when the move cost close to 1k because of the lazy "movers" they sent. My move from Los Angeles to San Diego cost less. This company is horrific and I hope they are shut down by this time next year. read more

This was by far the best moving experience I've had. The movers were on time, professional, efficient, and didn't waste any time. They got me moved in from three different pickup locations and totally unloaded at my new place in exactly 3 hours. They were careful with my belongings and the buildings when moving in/out. Contact with the business office was easy and efficient as well. What I love is that they don't charge any fees... the hourly price is the only thing you pay. With other companies I was constantly worried about drive time fees, gas fees, etc complicating my total; but Green Movers is obviously able to do everything they need, at a great rate, without added fees. Great Experience! To be honest, I do not really trust people with my personal items but I had a friend recommend Green Movers to me. The guys that helped me move my stuff were great! Communication was great with explaining how the process would go. They were very careful with my stuff. I've always been the move-yourself type, but this time pregnancy, an apartment on the third floor, and the heat of July were enough to convince me that hiring movers was worth a couple hundred bucks that I'd rather spend on almost anything else. And O-M-G am I glad I did. For those of you who've never ponied up the money for professionals, believe me when I say they'll change your thoughts about moving forever. They reduce both the physical and mental stress of moving by at least 90%, which to me is worth at least double what they charge. If you're on the fence about hiring movers, HIRE THEM. Once I'd made the decision to hire professional movers, I pretty much spammed the moving world for price quotes. Because if there's anything I hate more than moving, it's overpaying for a service that I know I could do myself. Green Movers was just another company I sent an email to for a price quote. I didn't specifically seek them out in any way. In fact, I would venture to say that I was even a little turned off by them in the beginning because I assumed that the "green" in Green Movers was some sort of environmentally friendly truck that would jack up my moving cost. Anyway, because of my slightly obsessive price research, I can confidently assure you that Green Movers IS NOT the cheapest option out there. In fact, it's not even in the bottom 3. If you're looking for dirt cheap, they ain't it. Nor are they the most expensive. They rest somewhere closer to the lower middle. So why did I choose them? Professionalism, upfront costs, and yelp reviews. There were a few companies that responded to my explicit request to email me a price quote with a phone call, which annoyed me. There were a few companies that advertised hourly rates, but then hit you with set-up fees like truck rental or fuel surcharge. And to be honest, the cheap companies kind of scared me... there's usually a reason things are that cheap, you know? Green Movers wraps all their operating expenses into one, easy to understand fee: an hourly rate. Wonderfully simple. They also represent themselves well with extremely professional communication, which made me a whole lot more comfortable signing up to have them move my most prized possessions. And the Yelp reviews for the most part appeared positive... so I was sold. On the day of the move, the two movers arrived 15 minutes early and started work immediately (but didn't charge us for those 15 extra minutes, I might add). They were friendly, but didn't waste time socializing on our dime. They were quick, efficient, and very careful with our things. There were no complaints about carrying our heavy boxes and awkward furniture up four flights of stairs. The price was $90 per hour for two movers. When I was booking, they advised me to book three movers, but if you're willing to do a little work yourself, two movers is totally sufficient. They were done in less than 4 hours. I've moved every year for the past 8 years, and this is the easiest time of it I've ever had. I HIGHLY recommend Green Movers and will absolutely use them again on my next move. read more

I found Green Movers through a recommendation from a friend. I hired them to fully pack and move my house, and then when I procrastinated on going through my storage shed, I ended up hiring them again to pack and move the shed's contents. I closed my photography studio at the beginning of COVID, and there was just a heap of stuff piled in there from that. They were efficient, nonjudgmental, and helped me get everything safely transported. They even did a great job of keeping the studio stuff together, my camping stuff together, etc. Everything arrived safely and while my new place presented some logistical challenges for delivery, they took it in stride and were a pleasure to work with. read more

I called them and set up a time when they could move my stuff down. There wasn't any miscommunication and they were ready to get to work. We set up a time and they showed up early in the morning. They helped me move my one bedroom apartment from Carlsbad to San Diego and were super efficient and careful with my stuff. They were on time, friendly and quick. I would have given five stars until this happened. We had the movers booked for sat 3-10. They were on time and friendly. They handled our furniture with care. We finished at the 2 1/2 Mark. They have a 3 hour minimum which we were happy to pay. The main guy handed me my receipt and said here is your total and just add the tip. I thought to myself ok, isn't it really up to me to give a tip? I gave them a $40 tip which i had planned if we came in under the three hour mark. The same guy says to me "one more $20 for tip" There was no thank you for your business, or thanks for the tip, just a blunt statement that he wanted more for the tip. I found this completely unprofessional. Even after i gave him the tip money he didn't even say thank you For 2 1/2 hours work I felt it was a fair tip. He obviously didn't. It's too bad because their work was good but asking for more on the tip and not even saying thank you was not cool. So if you use these guys remember that they will tell you what you should be tipping. We won't use them again. read more

If zero stars was possible I give them ZERO stars. I scheduled the move a week in advance. On the morning of the move on 9:15 they called me and told me that their truck is having issues and they will be there at 11:00. At 11:00 they called me and told me that the truck will be there at 12:00. I could feel that something is wrong so I told the office lady that I am ok with doing my move the next morning but they assured me that the truck will be there. Same story happened and they rold me that the truck will be there no later than 2:00pm. Finally at 4:00pm their truck showed up. The crew told me that the truck never had any issues! So the office guys were NOT TELLING ME THE TRUTH. They were working somewhere else. At 4:30pm customer service manager were telling me that I only have 2 options refunding my deposit or rescheduling for 3 days later. This company is A joke. My daughter didn't eat anything all day long because I was not able to leave the house, I was waiting for them. We have boxes everything and we didn't have anything available to prepare food. I even couldn't order food because I was on the phone with them all they long. I will not recommend this company at all. I will take them to court. read more

From the person who answered the phone to the two men who unloaded my things, everyone was very pleasant and easy to work with. They unloaded my stuff in a reasonable amount of time. I contacted Green Movers a few weeks ago about hiring them to move my sister from her apartment Downtown, in to her new house in Del Mar. I spoke to Adam on the phone and set up the appointment. Adam was really helpful and personable, as we ironed out the details. The movers showed up about ten minutes early on the day of the move, and got right to work. They were very careful, and wrapped up the furniture and loose items in plastic wrap as if it was their own. This was the most important part to my sister, as she has several fragile items, and vintage furniture. It took what seemed like no time at all for them to move everything out of the apartment, and they were on their way to the new house. Once there, everything was moved in without incident, and in one piece. This was the first time I hired movers, as I usually try and do it myself, and I don't know if I will ever do it myself again. This was my first experience hiring movers, but I had such a terrible moving experience last time I decided to give this a shot. I chose Green Movers based on all of the great Yelp reviews and they were totally accurate! I had 2 movers who arrived at 7:45am, my scheduled time was 8:00am. They came in to evaluate and come up with a plan of attack. They began working right away and all I had to do was sit on my couch on the curb and watch them move all of my stuff out. I was moving 5 blocks away but have a ton of furniture. They ended up getting the entire move done by 10:30am (2.5 hours!). I was moving my bedroom/ living/ and dining room. I paid for the minimum 3 hours and gave them each a $40 tip for being so awesome. My movers worked non-stop and were fantastic. I will definitely be recommending Green Movers to anyone who asks. What can I say!! These guy's are the best moving company i have ever used. I booked them to move my mother in law who is retired. We had them booked for a 2 pm move on a Sat, and they actually called and asked if they could be there earlier as they were finishing up on an earlier job. That was great news, especially for my mother in law who worries about everything. They showed up an hour early and started loading the truck right away, No messing around. I really wanted to give Green Movers a great rating. But even after a few days of cooling off and reevaluating I just can't. I've never given anybody a negative review on Yelp. It's a lot more fun telling people how great a business is but it's important when someone fails to deliver the type of service you expect to pass that information along as well. Originally I thought I'd write an extremely detailed account of what happened on our moving day but that would have been more for purposes of venting. Reviews where someone does that don't interest me. It usually just means someone got mad and they want to cause a business as much damage as possible. That is not my intent. Actually, what I'm really trying for here is to help people keep from making the same mistake I did. First, let me say that if you have a textbook cookie cutter type move and don't have any special things you care about Green Movers is probably as good as anybody you can find. Our problem was that we have a bunch of old antique furniture and my work stuff that needs to be moved a certain way and on top of that it was a long distance move. Things seemed to be going ok until we arrived at our destination. The movers arrived before we did and as soon as we got there all we heard was how wrong and impossible things were. It was a difficult situation. No doubt. But moving is stressful enough without the guys you're PAYING to move you freaking out. They went on and on and on about it until I finally had to call the owner of the company. They showed a total lack of professionalism. Something I really didn't like was that after calling and leaving two messages the owner called his movers before he called me. I'm the client. I should come first. If I hadn't called the owner to get him to settle his people down I really feel the situation could have gotten ugly. But he did get them to pull themselves together and with my wife's and my help we finished the move. To make the long story short: The top of one of our bedside tables was pulled almost off. Real movers don't pick up furniture by the top like that. The piece is so old the top was held on by square nails. Now one of the nails is missing. I called Adam the owner about it and he said he would have his people look for it but I haven't heard back. I told the movers not to move my work bench without removing the drawers which they did do when they loaded the truck but somehow they thought they didn't have to do it when they unloaded. Actually they were just lame about it and didn't want to take the extra 15 minutes to do it the way I told them to. It was a long day to be sure. I think it could have taken them 10 hours to move us if they had behaved like professional movers. In their defense they had estimated it would take 10 to 12 hours. It took 13 hours not because it was such bad circumstances but because they just couldn't handle the situation. There are a number of other issues but I'm not going to bore you with my venting (remember?). In conclusion: Don't use these movers if you think there might be difficult circumstances. They can't handle it. They did credit us one hour off our bill and I did tip both movers. They did work hard and deserved it. However, I shouldn't have to call the owner of the company on moving day to enlist his help to get our move completed. read more

Let me just tell you why Green Movers are AMAZING!!! It all started in May, when my bosses decided they were going to move from their 2,000sf 2-story condo in downtown San Diego PRIOR to spending 5 months in their summer home in Canada. To summarize and make this as brief as possible, I'll bullet point the move and what we put these poor guys through. *Packed entire condo full of expensive, breakable and large items. *Prepared 2 pallets worth of boxes and furniture for freight shipping to Canada *Moved all items (by the use of only 1 elevator (thanks to stupid downtown HOA rules) to a storage facility in Sorrento Valley *Moved several heavy and large furniture to other tenants within the Condo who had purchased them. *Moved all live garden planters, planter boxes, and (heavy) trees to North County Upon my bosses return this month (Oct), Green Movers came back out and did it all over again in reverse. *Moved all live garden planters, planter boxes and (heavy) trees from North County to La Jolla *Moved items from storage unit in Sorrento Valley and moved to 2 story home in La Jolla *Rearranged and moved furniture in the new house *Took many boxes and furniture items BACK to storage after realizing that we didn't need them in the new home. Whew... I feel like I have been coordinating moves all summer! Can you believe in all of this moving and shuffling items around...we only had one broken drinking glass?!?!? And when we realized that WE forgot to have the movers take a love-seat back to storage, they came out and did it for free!!! These guys are AWESOME!!! Every single one of the crew members on both moving crews were extremely friendly, professional and packed/moved the items with care. I am AMAZED... and breathing a sigh of relief. I called Green Movers a week prior to my move and was able to quickly get everything booked with Michael. Asa and Sergio showed up right on time and did a fantastic job. They were very eager to help me get settled and made sure all of the furniture was exactly where I wanted it. I'm a single female, so moving heavy furniture is tough and I've had movers in the past just slap things wherever, leave them without assembling them, and even break or damage furniture. Not these guys! I would hire them again in a second and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable mover. Three weeks ago I bought a piano, only to watch it destroyed on my front lawn when the ragtag team that the seller had presented as a professional delivery crew rolled up with a 100-year-old, 600 lb. instrument somehow leveraged onto a beat-up pickup truck, which they then proceeded to back over the curb ... only to ask ME if "I had any wood" they could use as a makeshift ramp. The soundboard and bridges cracked, rendering that rare beast, a good-condition antique piano, into a pretty piece of junk. Lesson learned: NEVER let a seller be in charge of delivery, even if they claim it's their business of 40 years. Two weeks ago I found another, albeit smaller piano in excellent condition, and needless to say I was stressing out over the impending delivery. I wanted someone good, but I'm a budget customer. I picked Green Movers because, even just talking to Kevin on the phone, I could tell this guy was on the ball. He reassured me that they had the right vehicle to do the job, the right equipment to transport it to and from the truck, and he displayed an appreciation that a piano is a lot more delicate than, say, an old rubber tire (which I don't think could have survived that last crew's methods any better than my piano did.) They gave me a very reasonable quote for delivery from North County to La Mesa, and were accommodating with my schedule. Kevin and Adam arrived ON TIME at the seller's condo and wasted no time finding the best route through the complex. They put the piano on a strong dolly and navigated it through the halls without touching a thing. Their manner impressed the seller so much that before they even got out the door he had already asked them about moving him next month, and moving his sister out of her place too. The vehicle they brought, which looked to be a repurposed Hertz, was in good repair and had the incline required to get the piano up safely, a big relief after wondering how the hell those other "movers" got my antique piano (may she RIP) up onto a pickup truck with no ramps! Really, it's better I don't know. At my home, they took time to carefully bring the piano down from the truck and up the walk. While they opted to physically lift it up my four front-porch steps, I know they had the equipment and know-how to create a work-around if it had been too heavy. Intelligent, friendly, and efficient. Punctual. Scary Hulk-strength. Great senses of humor. I would not hesitate to hire Green Movers to move anything or anyone. When I win the lottery this year (ha) they will be the ones to coordinate the transition to my mansion. But with this level of service and such great prices, they are destined to become huge. I moved from San Diego to Orange County about 3 weeks ago. I used Green Movers based on Yelp review and at the end of the day they were inexpensive and got the (most of) job done. Three movers including the driver worked hard from morning to mid-afternoon without even taking a lunch break. I appreciated their working hard. However there are three things that bothered me, which may not happen or matter to other people. 1. I indicated I wanted boxing help earlier and also right before the moving date. However, the movers showed up without any boxing materials. My husband asked if their office can send someone to bring boxes but was told "no." He had to run to Lowes to get boxes. When I emailed my contact person for an explanation, he replied that when people ask for packing service, they already have boxing materials in hand so I should have told them I needed boxes, too. He offered to bring the boxes to my house but then it was already after my husband drove to Lowes. 2. While unloading at the new house, one of the movers told me that there were some clothes left at the old house that he saw hanging in the closet. I was dumbfounded and asked him why he didn't bring them. He was like "aren't you going back there?" I moved to a different city. I had no plan to go back to San Diego. I've moved locally and cross country several times. Most recently, I moved from San Diego out of state. I decided to drive my own truck, but I needed labor to load my belongings out of a storage unit and apartment into the truck. The team from Green Movers were fantastic! My schedule changed two or three times in the week leading up to the move, and the Green Movers team were very accommodating. The communication was frequent, clear and always helpful. These guys are so worth it. I have moved about 25 times half with movers half without. Most of the time movers are rude, crude, lazy and break stuff. I have experienced the extreme highs and lows of moving. These guys showed up on time, worked hard, were fast, super polite, super helpful, gentle with my things and the walls. All in all I seriously couldn't be happier. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone. This review is long overdue and after my most recent experience I'm stoked to do it! I first used Green Movers a year ago when moving from my apartment to my new house. I was at the mercy of some contractors whom I had hired to do some renovations, and of course they ran over on budget and over date for completion. I must have had to reschedule 2-3 times for my final move, but the guys were completely cool about it once I explained that I wasn't a flake, my contractors were! Anyway, the move went smoothly. In fact, it was probably the single thing in the whole home buying experience that went off without a hitch. So, Fast-forward a year later and I am attempting to buy a new dining room set from Yliving.com. Their furniture is cool, but their shipping options weren't. We were given a choice of having everything dropped off out on the curb in front of our house during regular business hours (hello, people, we work too!) or paying an extra $400 for "white glove" treatment where they would actually take the stuff into our house. What the....?! Luckily we remembered our great experience with Green Movers. Adam and Kevin worked with us to have the shipment delivered through them for half the price! Thank you guys! When the lame shippers decided to drag their feet on the delivery, Green Movers actually went out of their way to the shippers depot on Miramar and picked up our furniture and brought it right over. This is the first time I've worked with movers who were honest, responsive, on time and stayed within the quoted budget for my move! The movers were very responsive via email and scheduled a date/time that worked for my move-out date. I've moved across 3 states and locally from Orange County to Solana Beach, this move was from Solana Beach to San Diego and it was the first time I had a mover that did not change the rate on me. Green Movers recently moved our 2000 square foot house in East County to a 1250 square foot high-rise in downtown. It was certainly a big undertaking with nice wood furniture, pieces of art, large glass framed photos, and two plasma TVs. The job took two movers ~5 hours total. They hustled and did an excellent job with managing the elevators, parking in the middle of the street downtown, packing and unpacking everything, shrink-wrapping EVERYTHING...they were fast, efficient, polite, and careful with our belongings. We had never hired movers before because I am always too controlling and want to ensure that if anyone is going to accidentally scratch a piece of our furniture, that it is going to be me (for fear that I might kill someone if they did it). This move I had a bad back and with the added complexity of downsizing and moving into a high-rise downtown, we decided to "bite the bullet" and pay for movers. I chose Green Movers based on their Yelp reviews and their fair/honest/ transparent pricing. Again, our move went excellent except one issue...one of our plasmas (luckily the older, smaller 50" one) was cracked somehow during the drive. If you know plasmas, you know you have to be EXTREMELY careful with them (they have glass screens and have to be kept upright to maintain the integrity of their picture). I have to admit, i watched the movers wrap them in blankets and tape and unwrap them. I think it had to have happened in the truck on the drive over, because the movers were very careful. You can't help when things like that happen. Now, normally this is something that I would have of course been pretty upset about, but I have to say that Adam at Green Movers dealt with it in an excellent manner. He was calm, cool, collected, apologetic, and professional. He made it clear in a swift phone call to me that he would right the situation and that he wanted to ensure I was happy. My husband and I thought about it and decided that we would split the cost of the new plasma with him because our other one was close to 5 years old and even though it was working perfectly before, we were going to get a brand new one out of this unfortunate incident. Adam did not hesitate to send me the check for the amount we requested in the mail; I literally had it in hand in two business days. This is what makes a company reputation. Even though that unfortunate accident happened, I felt so strongly that it could not really have been prevented (aside from the City filling in a few potholes that may have been on our route), and we referred them to our friends that used them a week later and also loved them. I honestly couldn't have asked for more out of the situation and am very happy with the response time, oversight, and management of the entire process from start to finish with Green Movers and Adam, in particular.
