Amazing food! The owner (I'm assuming unfortunately I did not catch his name) was very passionate about the food and made a point to stop at every table and see how they enjoyed it. My wife decided to try the tilapia as it being our first time there but also isn't a huge fan of fish. She did not finish the fish but very much enjoyed the sides. The owner and waitress noticed the fish wasn't touched very much and were adamant they take it off the ticket since she didn't finish it. Refusing to take no for an answer they brought us a baklava dessert to make sure we left full and happy. The best customer service I've had in along time. We felt at home with how good the food was, beautiful decor and personable staff. We have dined at Acropolis since they originally opened. The food has always been good. They went from large portions to smaller portions over the years. Still, the food had always been delicious. The Tzaganaki was never consisted and was never melted enough through the years. Well, we had stopped going there as much. Last week, we were in the area and decided to stop by. The interior was a little different. Wait a minute! Do they have a new owner? Asked our waitress, she said there is indeed a new owner! The place looks great and more improvements are in the works. Back to the food: Ordered the Tzaganaki. Wow! Melted to perfection right there in front of us! My favorite is the Gyro plate with eggplant. The gyro meat is tender and flavorful. It made me realize that previously, their gyro meat went from fresh, tender and flavorful to ... overcooked. Now? It's better than it was initially, if not better! The eggplant? WOW! Looked for a place to get a satisfying size lunch, while doing errands & found this on Yelp. From the outside, you'd think it would be a small fast-food sit-down restaurant, but as soon as I opened the doors, it was a huge, nicely decorated, clean place. I had the Mediterranean Gyro. Since it wasn't very busy, food came out quick and taste did not waiver. They also have an alcohol menu, includes wine & beers. My favorite part of this first-time experience was the service. My family, we normally order food to go. But yesterdays experience made me realize the quality of what the kitchen is putting out potentially for Togo orders is at best subpar. The falafels are so huge, eating them in a gyro makes it nearly impossible, the lettuce used some of it was mushy/gross and the falafels themselves were fried to long they were so super dense instead of fluffy saucer like, it made for a compromised experience. We ordered two felafel gyros and same/same. We also ordered two of the hummus/pita bread apps, and only received in pita per order for $7.99, I am at a loss of words. This review is to give viewers the reality that not every meal you get from this establishment is going to be like the last good experience. Maybe you should rethink ordering Togo, and dine in.... Delicious! My wife and I had the pasta dish with shrimp and it was amazing. The pita bread was yummy too. The only reason I don't give five stars is because they were missing some of the minor details. My menu was dirty and sticky. Had lunch with my bestie today. First visit here. Our server Lauren was great! The food is delicious and came out in a timely manner. I definitely recommend Acropolis. The ambiance has a warm welcoming vibe. There was an incident there, an ambulance was needed for a patron. A lot of the patrons that were having lunch jumped in to assist the patron who was in dire need. The staff was excellent with said patron, there was a soldier also who assisted and held this person I commend every single concerned person who assisted. I pray this patron will be ok. I took a friend here for her birthday dinner. We had seen the reviews and had great expectations. It was pretty bad, all around. First our server, Bethany? I think it was. We get seated and it takes 5-10 minutes before she comes to the table. She brings no menus and simply wants to know what we want to drink. As we have no menu and no idea what they have, I simply ask for coffee. She moans "I'll have to make some, but sure, no problem" As she turns to leave, we ask if we could have menus. "Sure, no problem" Another 5 minutes or so later, my coffee lands in front of me, with not a pack of sugar, milk, or anything. As she turns to leave again, I ask if I could get some cream. "Of course, no problem" Another 5 minutes pass, and she finally comes to ask if we want any appetizers. We try the "crispy calamari". They arrive 5 minutes later, rubber in a shell, without any flavor whatsoever, served with..of course, Tzatziki. She didn't have any small plates....but she'd try to find us some. I said it's ok, don't worry about it. Not going to wait ANOTHER 5 minutes to see her again. Now I LOVE Tzatziki, just not one bit on my $18 worth 8 small rings of calamari. They usually have a lemon/garlic sauce or AT LEAST a tomato sauce. On the second ring, she must have seen my face, she came to ask how it is and I said "Frankly, it's rubber" And I let her take it away. A few minutes later came the main course. I had the Gyro plate. Comes with 2 sides she says. I am confused..it's gyro.....fries maybe? Anyways, I ask for the salad and a side of veggies. Oh man....some dry, sad looking slices of reshaped gyro meat, I suspect it was microwave heated by the texture and taste. No crunch at any edge, NOTHING to go with, but a pita and Tzatziki! If I had not ordered a salad as side dish, I would have had NOTHING at all to add to it. No onions, no tomatoes, no lettuce, no nothing at all. The side salad had TWO sad little pieces of onion. $16 for a pita with some reheated, no crust, ground meat slices gas station style. I ate half of it and just couldn't go any further. The veggies tasted horrible, not sure what spice fell on those. Can't even describe the flavor of that cauliflower. I never got a refill on my coffee. My friend had the lamb, and she said it was ok, bit overcooked, but fine. She's better than I. When she too was DONE eating, our server came to ask if she wanted some more water. Her glass had been empty since she got the meal. She actually asked her at that time, why she would wait to offer her more water until she was DONE with her meal and ready to go. At this time my credit card had been waiting slightly over the edge of the table to be noticed...another 5 minutes or so. We both agreed the waitress was just completely inattentive and a bit rude. Service, D-, food average C- ambiance? I'd have said nice, if it wasn't for the fact that there was a completely out of place Big Screen TV running and when you first walk in it is DARK until your eyes adjust. Everything was a pain, everything had to be asked for. Nothing was offered. Not even napkins to help with the messy sauces. You just get that one black thing that doesn't soak up anything and then gets all gross while you are suppose to reuse it. No information on drinks, an exchange of "do you have..?"
