This restaurant is an amazing find in Harker Heights. This was my second visit and it was better than the first one. Food : We were a group of 4 who visited for a quick working lunch. The appetizer platter was great. We ordered different entrees and I tried the Moussakka. It was very well prepared and came with a soup and salad. The lemon egg soup was not my favorite. I tried to be adventurous but should have stuck to the lentil soup. Do try the rice pudding for dessert. It is sweetened to perfection and will make you want more. Drinks : They do have a bar with some wine and beer options only. We did not order any alcoholic beverages. Service : Our waitress was pleasant and very efficient. She ensured that all her tables were well attended to. Ambience : Located in a strip mall in Harker Heights, the restaurant offers a casual ambience with some Greek music playing in the background. I decided to celebrate my birthday with my family at this location because I loved the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, a far from pleasant experience is what I had. Prior to us going, my husband called and asked if they were able to take a party of ten. The person on the phone confirmed we could be accommodated. Upon me entering the establishment, I noticed that our party was separated. Not like the next table over, but so much so, it was two completely separate dining experiences. When the party left from the table next to ours, my husband went to our server (who took about 20 minutes to bring us water, while the table that she sat while we waited to place our order was greeted with hugs and they promptly got their drinks), to ask if the rest of the family could be seated closer. The owner ran over to my husband to intercept the request and said the rest of our family couldn't sit at that table and then he said very loudly and very rudely, that he was trying to be nice. And walked off. I had seen and heard enough. I told my family that I no longer wanted to spend our hard earned money in an establishment where the owner feels like it is ok to rude. We left without eating and I don't plan on returning. My husband acted on information that was told to him by someone that worked there, but when we get there we are treated like the information was fabricated. He turned my birthday dining experience into a nightmare. We were there for an hour and only got water and had just gotten appetizers during that time. Incredible! one of the best restaurants i've been to in a very long time! My meal was very well prepared and spot mimicking my experience in Greece! Our server was very attentive without being over bearing. And wow, could he sing! there was a birthday while we were there when he sang an a cappella Happy Birthday that gave us goosebumps! The restaurant was well appointed and nicely decorated. The whole place was spotless and well lit. Their wine list is impressive and the menu can meet the pickiest if eaters needs! I have been stationed here for 3 years and I have been to many other Greek restaurants but this is the first time, my gyro has never had feta sauce on the wrap. Maybe this restaurant just does tings differently. The lamb was very good in taste wise. The potatoes were decent. The pink/orange sauce was questionable and had no real taste aside from it tasting like roasted red peppers. I then called to ask why wasn't the feta and tzatziki sauce in the bag and it was stated that the red mystery sauce was both sauces put together huh? ...Sigh! Big Bro told us not to fret since this place also had a lot of good foodies to offer. (Funny enough, I had it bookmarked way before I even flew into the state!) The very first thing I try at a Greek restaurant is their gyro wrap. That is my one make-it-or-break-it deciding factor for any (or no) future visits. Our party of five got seated immediately since we came through way before the lunch hour rush. I had no trouble finding the gyro in the menu, so that's what I went for. There was a good amount of meat and portioned well with the veggies and tzatziki sauce. They were held well by a not-too-thick warm and fluffy pita. Everything just came together oh, so, well with each bite. I was impressed. Service was above par. I can't remember her name, but our server was involved and funny. We liked her immediately. The restaurant was at near capacity within the hour. I'm not sure if that's because the place next door was closed or if they were just that popular. The meat is well seasoned, and the veggies we cooked al dente, which I appreciated. The ambiance is nice it has dim lighting and a rustic feel, great for a date night! Started out with the four dips, which consisted of hummus, roasted pepper hummus, feta dip and tzatziki sauce served with fresh pita bread. Very good, my favorite was the roasted pepper hummus. For my main meal, I ordered the Gyro plate. Mine came with a blend of lamb and beef, served with tzatziki sauce, a Greek salad and roasted potatoes. The meal was delicious. I've been looking for a good place in Texas and found this one. They have just recently updated their inside and it looks fantastic! The bar area is beautiful! We have dined at Acropolis since they originally opened. The food has always been good. They went from large portions to smaller portions over the years. Still, the food had always been delicious. The Tzaganaki was never consisted and was never melted enough through the years. Well, we had stopped going there as much. Last week, we were in the area and decided to stop by. The interior was a little different. Wait a minute! Do they have a new owner? Asked our waitress, she said there is indeed a new owner! The place looks great and more improvements are in the works. Back to the food: Ordered the Tzaganaki. Wow! Melted to perfection right there in front of us! My favorite is the Gyro plate with eggplant. The gyro meat is tender and flavorful. It made me realize that previously, their gyro meat went from fresh, tender and flavorful to ... overcooked. Now? It's better than it was initially, if not better! The eggplant? WOW! Fresh and delicious! It's one of my favorite things and I couldn't stop eating it. So good! read more

Amazing food! The owner (I'm assuming unfortunately I did not catch his name) was very passionate about the food and made a point to stop at every table and see how they enjoyed it. My wife decided to try the tilapia as it being our first time there but also isn't a huge fan of fish. She did not finish the fish but very much enjoyed the sides. The owner and waitress noticed the fish wasn't touched very much and were adamant they take it off the ticket since she didn't finish it. Refusing to take no for an answer they brought us a baklava dessert to make sure we left full and happy. The best customer service I've had in along time. We felt at home with how good the food was, beautiful decor and personable staff. Looked for a place to get a satisfying size lunch, while doing errands & found this on Yelp. From the outside, you'd think it would be a small fast-food sit-down restaurant, but as soon as I opened the doors, it was a huge, nicely decorated, clean place. I had the Mediterranean Gyro. Since it wasn't very busy, food came out quick and taste did not waiver. They also have an alcohol menu, includes wine & beers. My favorite part of this first-time experience was the service. The only reason I don't give five stars is because they were missing some of the minor details. My menu was dirty and sticky.
