Ok. Here goes.... Sorry to burst your bubble ya'll BUT this is NOT Greek food. Not slightly close. Not at all. I am 100% Greek and was so thrilled to find a "greek" restaurant in the area while visiting. The menu looked great, avgolemono (egg lemon) soup, xoriatiki (Greek village) salad, gyros, saganaki (flaming cheese), my mouth was watering, I couldn't wait to dig in. First came the cheese, the prep was wrong, the show was wrong, the taste so wrong. Then came my soup.... I think I was eating chicken noodle soup with carrots. There was NO egg, NO lemon, the soup is called EGG LEMON soup. I couldn't stop laughing the entire time there, only because the reviews on this place are so unbelievable. I cannot believe this place was voted best in central Texas and received a 4.5 outta 5 stars. If any of y'all leave Killeen and head to a big city like New York or Chicago, please do yourselves the favor and dine at an Authentic Greek restaurant. Oh and for dinner I had a gyros plate. You're supposed to eat gyros with tomatoes and onions and fries. I got none of that. Just tzatziki and rice. I wanted so bad to throw on an apron and head to the kitchen to help these people out because my God, it was all wrong. read more

My family is Greek so I grew up eating homemade Greek food. It's hard to find a good authentic Greek meal sometimes...but Acropolis is wonderful and I will definitely be coming back. The waitress was very sweet and took great care of us. read more

The moment you walk in, you are pleasantly greeted with the most amazing aromas of authentic Greek cuisine. With a deep breath, if I closed my eyes, I could imagine for a moment, being in Greece. If you love Greek food, you are in for a real treat. If you've never tried Greek food, this is definitely the place to try a new experience. We've been living in TX for over 5 years and this is the best Greek food we've had, hands down. Stopped in for take-out lunch yesterday, spur of the moment. We picked up the gyro/soup combo. The gyro was perfect. The lemon/chicken/orzo soup was so flavorful! Hummus - Yummy! Pita like this, you just can't get anywhere else around. Baklava - until I tasted Acropolis', my Mom's was the best I've ever had but dare I say, they have her beat on this one. I know it was made fresh that morning. I'm always partial local, family owned restaurants where you see the owner cooking and supervising operations. Here, you just get the feeling that the family's heart and soul goes into every dish. Every ingredient is fresh. Every recipe is authentic and served with pride. Excellent quality at a very fair price. Can't wait to go back and dine in to try more of their menu. The owner said they are getting their liquor license soon. Acropolis is sure to be our new go-to restaurant. Home made meals that I couldn't possibly dream of making at home! read more

I have to say the food was amazing! It was my first time eating Greek food and I'm in love now! I got the meat patties, there is a Greek name for it but sadly I forgot what it was, but when I got it I was expecting bland meat patties with tomato sauce but I was surprised at what it tasted like! The meat was soft and broke apart very easily and it tasted amazing! Nothing like bland tomato sauce. I will be going back very soon! Absolutely amazing! Also our server spoke Greek and I thought that was pretty cool since I love the Greek language. read more

Yum! This is a wonderful little gem in a great and easily accessible location. The food was wonderful, and the place was sparkling clean! The waitstaff was attentive and helpful. We especially liked the roasted cauliflower, which was really something special (and I usually won't eat cauliflower). We topped off our healthy meal with some baklava. Yum! This place was amazing, we stopped in for lunch, I had been craving some falafel for weeks. I was struggling to even find a place that served it around here, and low and behold we checked out Acropolis. We tried the 4 dip sampler, which was really good, and the falafel did not disappoint, I only wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have had more! read more

The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The Mediterranean wrap is beyond delicious. The menu doesn't have a huge variety, but I have yet to try anything I haven't loved. read more

The hummus is great. I enjoy coming here, I try to save it for special nights with my husband because its a great date place. But I have taken my young kids here. because it is family friendly. Its can be casual or dress up for a date night. Its great. Everytime I eat here I ordered something different an its always good. My husband loves the food to. I do agree, they need to give you more of that white sauce but Im sure if they loaded that white sauce on your plate the presentation wouldnt be as nice. Maybe Ill just have to ask for extra next time. read more

Food is great , very authentic, the staff however... Not the best, my buddy and I ate here recently, and it was so delicious, only to be mildly ruined by the staff, not all that friendly, and when we asked "what's really good" we got "it depend on what you want" and a blank stare as a response... Form the food, to the service, it was an amazing experience! I have traveled the world, had Mediterranean cuisine in every country in that region, and this resembles traditional Greek fare more than any other "Greek" restaurant in this area. read more

My husband and I came here the other day and loved everything about this place. The food is amazing, the service is great, and the atmosphere inside is very relaxed and welcoming. My wife and I recently returned from a vacation in Greece, where we had some really great food. That experience prompted us to give Acropolis a try. The food was ok; it didn't have the seasoning we expected, but it was ok. The service was uneven. Our salads arrived about 2 minutes before the entrees, which is a pain. Do I eat the chilled salad or go for the hot entree? Or vice versa? I will likely give them another try, though. read more

Ordered for pick up. Food was ready when I arrived and the cashier was very friendly. Ordered the gyro plate. It comes with a good portion of meat and the meat was tasty. The cons were the sides. I chose potatoes and cauliflower. The potatoes were really thick and hard with a lack of seasoning. The cauliflower just didn't taste good to me. Maybe if I would've chosen other sides my experience would've been better. read more

I ate dinner here the other day with a friend. The food was good overall. The staff is friendly as well. But nothing that really stood out about this place though. When you first enter, on the left looks like they almost had a buffet line that deal set up. It was just kind of odd to see it laid out this way. I may try this one more time to give it a fair shake.
