But on day one, while I was looking over the saws and doing my research in the store, at least half a dozen associates came over to check on me and make sure I was doing OK. I've been in many other larger hardware stores and the staff never approaches you, not even one time. But both days at this hardware store, the staff was incredibly helpful. On the second day, when I made the purchase, the associate named Aaron provided tremendous assistance. He was incredibly knowledgeable and did an amazing job walking me through the product features, registration of the saw, and he gave me so many helpful tips. He informed on the aspects of the operation of chainsaws in general that I wasn't even aware of, after more than a decade of owning and using chainsaws. I couldn't see how a hardware store could possibly have a better qualified staff member. It is truly refreshing to see someone so competent and passionate about their work. Stellar service like this is invaluable and very hard to find these days!

On the 13th of July I ordered carpet , padding and installation from the Hampton store. I was…read morenotified by Romanoff Renovations the next morning that they would be the installers. I looked up the reviews on Yelp. They received horrible reviews. I visited Home Depot exactly 25 hours after the initial order and tried to cancel citing bad reviews and the padding I had chosen was not correct. I wanted to buy the carpet only. I was told I could not purchase the carpet, the store has to have installation with the carpet to purchase. I have my own installer, but that did not matter. The gentleman, Tony, said the carpet was in route, after only 25 hours and I would have to pay a restocking fee. I disputed this and asked to speak with a manager. I was told the manager was on vacation, but the assistant manager was available. Tony disappeared for 10 minutes to speak with someone. He came back and within 5 minutes disappeared again. When he returned I was told the manager had worked on the issue but I still had to pay the restocking fee. Tony escourted me to customer service where I was given the original fee minus 230.00. I will never visit Home Depot again and will tell all my friends of the incident. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I feel as if Home Depot is only after money to the detriment of the customer. I gave the store two stars because a nice man who works in the paint department showed me the employee who works in plumbing. I approached her and she ignored me and as I asked her if she worked in plumbing she responded with what I thought was "I'm not here." On the inside I figured I just misunderstood her. Wrong. I asked again and said I only had a quick question. She then emphatically said "I'm not here. I'm OFF." Fooled me because I was thinking "uh then why are you here WORKING?" She said again she was off so I set the item causing my aforementioned question on a shelf. She then realized I was leaving and mumbling to myself that I was going to write this missive about the experience. Check. I like to patronize small businesses rather than box stores. But my shopping trip to the box store was no less satisfying than the time spent at Ace today. After all my expectations are that I will need to know what I want at the box store. I probably will not step into the Ace again, and my advice to Ace's management would be to periodically check on your team and consider someone who wants to be service minded.
