On the 13th of July I ordered carpet , padding and installation from the Hampton store. I was notified by Romanoff Renovations the next morning that they would be the installers. I looked up the reviews on Yelp. They received horrible reviews. I visited Home Depot exactly 25 hours after the initial order and tried to cancel citing bad reviews and the padding I had chosen was not correct. I wanted to buy the carpet only. I was told I could not purchase the carpet, the store has to have installation with the carpet to purchase. I have my own installer, but that did not matter. The gentleman, Tony, said the carpet was in route, after only 25 hours and I would have to pay a restocking fee. I disputed this and asked to speak with a manager. I was told the manager was on vacation, but the assistant manager was available. Tony disappeared for 10 minutes to speak with someone. He came back and within 5 minutes disappeared again. When he returned I was told the manager had worked on the issue but I still had to pay the restocking fee. Tony escourted me to customer service where I was given the original fee minus 230.00. I will never visit Home Depot again and will tell all my friends of the incident. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I feel as if Home Depot is only after money to the detriment of the customer. We purchased a entry door, storm door had them both installed by their contractors and found dings in both. When customer service was contacted we were told they could give a $100 discount on a on a $1700 order . We were not satisfied with that offer and ask to speak with a manager another supervisor called back ans abruptly said thats all they could do take it or leave it. Sooo after years of being a loyal customer we're going to leave it and cancel our ALL dealings with a store that doesn't have the customers concern as a priority. Mind you its only been 2 weeks and the order is under a warranty. Shame on Homedepot to treat a valued customer in this manner. read more

I'm a former customer, your store/company hired a sub contractor to install my storm and home door. They didn't do the job correctly, didn't replace old wood, didn't used enough braille nail, better if they used screws and this would be an issue. My storm door after just two short years came off in my arms! FRAME AND ALL! My wife is very frail, she is a breast cancer survivor! If that door would have fallen on her! This would be another conversation. I didn't ask for much, I just want my door installed properly. I've paid for a service, TWICE! So I'm not going to pay for your incompetence again. Since you blew me off and yes I know it's past the quote, installation warranty. But I didn't think my door and frame would fall off. To start, I cancelled my kitchen renovation. Also the tankless water heater is cancelled. If you can't get my door right, I surely won't trust you with my family's comfort and safety. At least 15 or more years of buying your products and services. I'm done. I may not mean much to you as a customer. But this is now my mission to make sure EVERYONE IS PRIVY TO THIS LACK OF GIVING A CRAP ABOUT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I paid $2100 for a riding lawnmower. It was to be delivered between 6AM and 8PM on labor day. Someone canceled my order and I was not notified. Apparently any employee can arbitrarily and anonymously cancel a customer paid for order with no way to determine who canceled it and why it was canceled. I was on the phone for a good hour getting passed around to customer service reps that were of no use at all. The Hampton VIrginia store has nobody that can even spell customer service. So, they kept my money and my lawnmower. I have made an appointment with an attorney in my effort to resolve this corruption. When I asked to talk to a manager my request was refused. They have my phone number and my email. There was no correspondence from Home Depot to indicate a problem with my order or the delivery. There is a Lowes a few blocks down the street, I'll be spending my money there in the future. read more

They always have what I need and there seems to always be helpful staff available whenever needed. Self checkouts are always open and available but you can alway goto a cashier if you choose to. read more

Employee ran out of the place and accused me & my friend of stealing despite us just being rang by the register for the carpet we bought. Assistance by staff for large, bulky items is minimal. Unfriendly staff overall. Always in stock however which is a plus. read more

I recently had a terrible experience at Home Depot regarding installing doors at my house. It has been OVER A YEAR and my doors have still not been installed. I ordered doors in Dec 2021. They were scheduled to be installed April 2022. I was told in April they did not have an installer on their staff. I tried contacting them numerous times by phone. Most times my calls were unanswered. In-person, they could not find a record of my order. They gave me short, unhelpful answers. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by this experience, and will be hesitant to shop at Home Depot in the future due to the poor service and the fact that my doors are still sitting in my garage. I would not recommend this store to anyone based on the poor and delayed service. I am currently contacting headquarters. I would select ZERO STARS if possible. read more

Home Depot is amazing! Stocking all of your home improvement, kitchen/bathroom fixtures, lighting, paints, tools, the list goes on but I'm sure you get the point. This location store offers same-day delivery and installation services. They also have a do-it-yourself workshops that's recommended for beginners, which I found amazing. They offer a cash back or store credit here for any damaged goods on their return policy. I feel the target market is a notable difference between this store and the other branches I've been to. This Home Depot welcomes a more do-it-yourself crowd. The other's give more professionals approach - like it's meant for contractors and plumbers. Either way Home Depot offers great prices and the staff here are both super knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Two stars for the two employees that were super helpful. John and Yuri. I was told 30 days and on day 31 cabinets were still not at the store I was told they'd be there overnight I was told if they'd be there in the morning and nothing. Mind you I had coordinated with contractors. That's when they answered the phone. I called The following Monday at 6:15 AM at 7:30 AM at 9 AM at 11 AM and no one answered. I use the app to contact someone and they also had issues contacting the store. Finally the online support was able to contact someone and they located my cabinets in the store. I received no notification that they were there at that point. A few hours later I was notified that they would be at the store in three days. . . Really. I went to the store and John helped me and confirmed that they were there and they were ready to be picked up and recommended that I have the contractors come in the morning. Contractors installing cabinets and guess what we're missing a piece. Contractors go back to Home Depot and they're told everything was picked up. Waste of time and money. And again no one picks up the phone. I get in contact with online customer service and they said a manager would get back to me in two days. Did they . . . Nooooo. So I bought 1 too many cabinet. The manager rang me up, I had talk to the cabinet people twice and no one said they were special order therefore not refundable when purchased in store. Again the manager was horrible. It was in the small print apparently. Honestly just because we don't have a Lowes near by I ordered from HD. I already had a bad experience from them a couple of years back with my appliances and returned everything. Did I mention two cabinets were damaged. . . I don't own a home but I do paint and make resin furniture so I pretty much have started to become a regular here. The people are always super helpful and they are very knowable. I've been here twice since the pandemic started and each time the staff has been helpful and helped me load my car, etc. However, I've also noticed that there are always patrons who aren't wearing masks at all. This is the only business I've been to where that is true and it happened both times I was there. I do not feel safe and will not be shopping again until either masks are worn or the pandemic is over. I've been to Lowe's too and not seen a single person without a mask. read more

I was super excited to get new flooring as my first major project on my home. That excitement has turn to pure frustration and questioning if I would ever be back to this location or Home Depot whatsoever. While my husband and I were looking for floors we had gotten help in the first 5 minutes which is where this one and only star comes from. However, once we purchased everything and set everything up and get our floors measured out is when it all started going down hill. The guy who was helping us at the flooring department was nice and informative. And assured us that while we would be paying installation it included ripping of our existing floors and what not. Once we got our measurements we were given our total and was told that some "special product" that we needed was being delivered. Not once did they ask if they wanted to deliver to our home so we assumed that it was getting delivered to the store so the contractor would pick it up and get started. The estimated time for the thing to arrive were 1 week. 3 weeks go by and no call nor update. My husband and I decided to call to see what was going on. Half the time the associates we were talking to had no idea what order we were talking about and after a while of feeling we were being played with especially after the fact that we had already paid for the product I told the associate to cancel the order and give me corporate's number. Now I know it's not the associate's fault but Home Depot seems to be a little unorganized. After I said that the associate informed me that I would not be getting back 30% of our purchase if the items had already shipped to the store....... and what went from it should be in in 2 weeks all of a sudden it was gonna be in in a matter of a day. The product finally arrives and we get n I call from the contractor and the contractor hasn't received anything from Home Depot. Afterwards, in their order notes it had nothing about ripping our floors up and hauling it away or delivery. So now I'm confused. $700 later we fixed the problem and Home Depot was going to deliver. The day of delivery which was today I had to take the day off from work since they didn't give my husband an estimated time. All they said was they will be there between 8am and 8pm... great. So I waited, and waited and waited some more. We finally call Home Depot at 8. I guess I've called so much that they recognize our number and told us before we can get our name out that they know who we are and they were gonna call back. Which was weird but okay. They call back and said they attempted to deliver at 2pm. Mind you I was stuck in the house ALL DAY. No once came to our door, no one called. And they try to assure us that someone did go out and try to deliver. Now everything is getting pushed back, and I'm missing more work days because of the inconvenience. As a well known business I think this is absolutely unacceptable and unorganized. Thinking about going to Lowe's for my next project. read more

I don't have an issue with the employees at the store however I do have an issue with the Home Depot site. When go to the site they let you pick a date and time you can schedule a home consultation for a install. Well I scheduled one for new doors for this past Saturday at 7:30am. Within the hour on Thursday I received a call from an employee at Home Depot confirming my appointment and to collect the $30 fee for someone to come out and take measurements. On Saturday at 9:45am I called HD to find out where the consultation was since he or she was 2 hrs late. I was told (after I paid of course ) that they don't come out that early in the morning. That someone would call me by Monday to schedule my home consultation. Well it's Tuesday and still no call so I'm demanding my refund today it's total BS that the stores and Corp don't communicate and for that the customer is inconvenienced. read more

GO TO LOWES!!!! The only reason I am giving this a 1 star is because the hourly employees were so apologetic. I went to Home Depot and had an appointment with a lady to help make my kitchen cabinets. (My wife and I just bought a house that we are renovating) My wife and I told her what we wanted and she drew up a sketch and an appraisal. We ordered the cabinets and waited a month to get them. Once They were all in I had to take 4 trips to transfer the cabinets to my home. On my final run I brought my wife, with her car to help. As we were loading them, my wife told me that they were the wrong ones. We went back into the store to notify someone. The front desk called the manager and he came upfront to talk to us. He then proceeded to tell us that he would have to take several hours to make a new order for the cabinets we originally wanted. (His tone and demeanor was very rude and short) he then proceeded to tell us he would call us when he's done. My wife and I left and heading home... I forgot I needed something so I went back to Home Depot, walked in the store and realized that the manager was not working on my kitchen that he told me he was going to. Also never received a phone call like he said he was going to that night once he was supposed to be done. Now I still have no kitchen! And!! The guy who was supposed to install my cabinets, due to the delay cannot see me for another 3 months!!! read more

This particular store is the worst! No such thing as customer service. Always have a bad experience when I go to this store. We waited for assistance in the lighting department for one hour and asked three separate employees for assistance. Not one employees made the call to help us. One employee was too busy with his phone. One employee just gave us lip service and made us wait without ever giving assistance or calling someone else. One just disappeared. PATHETIC! We left after one hour without ever getting any help. Never going back to this store EVER. We'll see if it's just this store or Home Depot in general. My husband and I went there yesterday to purchase a new patio set. The website said there were four in the store available so we attempted to find the person working in the patio section. After numerous attempts with different people trying to find someone to help us, we were finally told that someone wasn't coming and we should just order it online!!! We came to the store in order to buy it, assemble it, and use it immediately. Not wait a week to get it. Very frustrated with the lack of helpfulness that was shown. Also our first time at The Home Depot. We don't normally shop there but found something we liked and for a deal. But after that we will not shop there again. We did buy the patio set online because I really loved it but money is better spent at a competitor's store( not naming names) where we are respected and helped every time. read more

Not real happy with Home Depot right now. Went into store last Sat (4-20) ordered and paid for a storm door which was to be delivered and installed. Got an appt for installation, only to get a call back from them saying they don't install on trailers or additions. No one asked us about this when we ordered the door and we didn't know to ask HD about it (I own the trailer and the porch where the door was to be installed was professionally built). So, instead of getting it installed last Wed, they gave us a delivery date of today (Sat, a wk after we had placed our original order). We had arranged for a professional to help us install the door (since we found out after the fact that HD doesn't do trailers) and I stayed home waiting on a door that was to be delivered 12-1pm today. My roommate called HD (multiple times) and was basically given the run around. He was too through with HD! We made a trip from Smithfield to Hampton to this HD store. We didn't bring our receipt with us, so we got nowhere. Meanwhile, the delivery driver leaves a text mesg saying they will deliver the door in app a half hour (THIS IS AFTER MY ROOMATE HAD TOLD THEM HE WANTED A REFUND AND WAS TOLD HE HAD TO COME TO THE STORE). Not to mention that most of our in person contact and also the phone contact wasn't very friendly. We will try to get our refund again on Monday. i bought a honda self propelled lawnmower from homedepot for 500 dollars last year and it ran good i used it 1 time this year and now it will not run at full rpm's and 1 of the front wheels fell off. I called home depot and they said that they do not warranty the lawnmowers and that i had to call the dealer -- this is the worse store i have ever shopped at and WILL NEVER buy anything from them again . i called the honda dealer and they said that i had to take it to a repair shop and pay for the inspection and if its found that it is a manufactor defect i wud be reinburst for the price of the inspection what kind of bussiness is this that they will not warranty a lawnmower that is less than 1 year old . i also WILL NEVER buy a honda product ever again read more

Home Depot is always an exciting place to venture inside. Especially, if you love home improvement and DIY projects the way that I do! Although, the Home Depot in Newport News has this store beat out with no competition, most of the staff is still friendly and eager to ask if you need help with anything. I am guilty, however, of going to the paint section and collecting 1 of every paint sample booklet they have out on their display. It's such a guilty pleasure of mine, I just can't help it! So, just for that I'd say this Home Depot store isn't but so bad at all. It's still a toss up between them and Lowe's with me though. I can't choose which one is my favorite. Home Depot in Hampton, VA feels like home. The customer service there is amazing. When placing online orders, it is always quick and efficient. I have had an exceptional experience with a gentleman that works in the paint department (seen him mostly nights, late 30's or early 40's I believe) who provided much care and concern to get my color perfect. Then when he did get it perfect, he went a step further to make my experience great. A couple of times I have had to go to their competitor, L*wes, also in Hampton, for a specific product. The customer service, speed, and accuracy with online orders did not compare to Home Depot in the slightest (I have had a couple of terrible experiences there). I have truly been spoiled by Home Depot. Then on June 24th, afternoon time, I sent in an individual to pick up an online order for me. The manager who was present and working at the time went completely ABOVE AND BEYOND. There was an issue with an availability of a product (my fault, not Home Depot's) and she exhibited more than amazing customer service. It was so great that I knew I had to give Home Depot a shout-out. I wish I got these individuals names but I hope I provided enough detail to recognize the remarkable and valuable members they have on their team. read more

I was looking for eclipse glasses and long story short one of the workers was neither nice nor helpful.

First. It's a nice store - typically friendly, knowledgeable Home Depot employees. Unfortunately it is located in a questionable part of town and is actually dangerous. I was shopping there at 11 AM when a Black customer muttering how Whites disrespect Blacks threatened to whoop my ass. I was just standing there in the lawn supplies aisle. Being physically threatened in a store is not an amusing experience. I immediately called the police and he ran out. This would never happen at the safer enclave at Patrick Henry. While the Hampton store can do nothing to prevent Black on White violence in its aisles and the management was appropriately concerned, I would shop at another location. read more
