But one thing I can count on at Ace Hardware is helpful, friendly customer service. Yesterday I was working on my toilet and I needed some parts (screws and bolts). Being a normal customer of Lowes, I was thinking to myself, "Where in the hell in that store can I find them and who is going to help me?" One thing I can't get at these mega-hardware stores is available customer service. Praise be to God I thought of Ace Hardware which is right up the street from my house. I was greeted right away, from the time I walked in till the time I left. I don't know the employees name, but he ask if he could help, went to a screw measuring board, and lead me to the correct screws and bolts I needed. It fit like a charm on my toilet. When I checked out, they were friendly and quick. I really love going to this Ace Hardware. Oh, by the way, this particular location is not in Williamsburg but in Hampton Virginia. A couple issues came up with one of the odd shaped windows and one of the appliance installers but Lowe's customer service impressed us by rectifying it immediately and professionally. That surprised us since so many stores and contractors lately just disappear or make you go through a lot of rigamarole to get decent customer service these days...but Lowe's was on it immediately and fixed the items right away. Further, we had a lot of work done, so just to have a couple subcontractor matters have to be addressed and be quickly rectified was extremely impressive. We are happy we went with Lowe's and anyway their prices were much better than other companies we interviewed and came with better products and warranties. They also gave us zero interest compared to the high rate loans others were trying to charge us. I recommend at least get a quote from Lowes before deciding on a job or product. Good luck regardless because it is a contractor jungle out there.

The instructor Larry White blamed Johnstone Supply and Johnstone Supply refuses to call me back or deal with the matter. In December, Mr. White DID offer to give me my money back but I told him I wanted to test. He suggested that I call back in February which I did. This time he said he retired and told me to call Johnstone. Obviously with all of the information together, I have no idea who to believe but I lost $196.20, and the receipt I have says Johnstone Supply.

Today we visited for the mermaid festival- Anderson's itself is a wonderful visit. It has various…read moreoptions for gifts, as well as beautiful greenhouse. It even has an awesome place to grab food and coffee. The festival though one thing rubbed me the wrong way and sadly made me not want to bring my business to andersons again. While at the festival, they had a bounce house for the kiddos- it was a big hit, only downfall was the slide area the kids were literally landing on hard asphalt on their behinds, when I brought it up to the young man he tried his hardest to resolve the problem, they brought little quilts, once again sadly it didn't help the problem. I watched three other kids land hard on their behinds, and the last one a little boy landed and knocked the wind out of himself. After that my friend and I went up to whom I'd assume was the event runner (young lady in blue) and she seemed worried and said she'd try to find something else, there was another gal next to her, when the young gentleman asked if he should close down the house (which he should have kids were getting hurt) she replied "no keep it up, we did all we could" and walked away. I'm appalled that she did not care whatsoever that children were getting hurt. Taking the house down would have not interrupted the event whatsoever but she thought jeopardizing children's well being was fine. Absolutely unprofessional.
