This place is a rip off and they make sure to keep your money, I paid an extra $11.00 per switch that I needed and the guy at the checkout stamped my receipt saying no exchanges or returns, and sure enough the switch didn't work, I found out that they are like Verizon stores some of the ace hardware stores are owned individually and this is one so he over charges and won't help you if there is anything wrong with the item he sold you even tho it's not a clearance item they are regular items. I have shopped at this ace more than a few times, but today the worker up there was pretty rude to me. I have dealt with him on many occasions so I don't know if he was having a bad day and it doesn't matter because I will never shop at there again. This was my 1st time back since having a bad stroke so my words are slow and over articulated so idk if he was annoy about that but he treating me like I was a bother to him. He didn't even look at the picture of the gas fitting i needed and handed me the wrong one. When I told him it wasn't right he told me next time know the right size and walked off. I have been there twice and wasted too much time. Both occasions were similar in that when trying to check out, it's been impossible. 1st time there was an issue with the person in front of me due to their reward #, and today because a gift card didn't work. These things happen so why not have another checker help the other people instead 3+ for 1 customer. I love hardware stores. Specifically I tend to love smaller stores. Big box is nice. But the hole in the wall hardware stores always give me the feels. I'll also preface this with I grew up working at an ACE hardware. Ace typically maintains that small store feel, with knowledgeable employees... well this is a shameful opposite. Boy.. this ace is a joke. I have attempted 3 times now to come here for projects and I have been disappointed every. Single. Time. This store has sold me a returned staple gun that was jammed when I got it. Thankfully they did accept the return This store has been out of stock of white light switches and I have told them 2 times. 6 month ago... And to top it off... I came in to get a dimmer switch.. They have only dimmers that have been RETURNED.. taped shut.. and so OLD that the clear plastic has YELLOWED... I brought this up to the employee and he said "oh you can't get these anymore" Which is a lie. A bold faced lie. Straight to my face. I just purchased a brand new one at Home Depot. I needed a second one and didn't want to drive as far. So I came to ace. I TOLD him don't lie to me. And he looked down and said you can't get this anymore again. Which... actually now that I think of it is true. Lutron has updated their packaging so technically this antique isn't sold anymore. There is newer product. Don't freakin lie to customers. Don't sell used and returned old product at full price.. I'm bummed. I won't come back here. Absolutely shameful. read more

My dad went to Ace Hardware this morning. He was wearing a long red shirt, his hair was a bit messy because it was his day off from work and he had been working in the garden this morning. Anyways, he went to Ace and someone kindly asked if he needed assistance, and he said he was looking. Then someone comes again and asked him if he was looking to buy something, and he responded he was looking, and the guy basically told ok, you can leave, with an attitude. My dad felt terrible and he left. He said he doesn't plan to return there. He felt discriminated against because he was looking and probably judged by the way he was dressed. Ace hardware - please train your staff to better approach customers. I usually prefer going to ace rather than the 2 other big stores, but the employees at this ace are a joke. Reading the other reviews confirms I am not alone in this opinion and that their attitude towards potential customers has been going on for well over 5 years now. This was the second time in about a week where I was treated like this. After the first time I was irritated but gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought they just had a crappy day or whatever, I get it. Upon my second return I entered the store and was immediately profiled with multiple employees staring me down and 1 following behind me watching my every move. Im a young white guy wearing a beanie and a sweatshirt and have never stolen anything in my freaking life. I despise thieves to the fullest. I absolutely hate that I even have to say the type of person I am because that doesn't freaking matter at all and if I were any different it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever. I hate saying that but I'm just painting the scenario and how ridiculous it is just because I wear a beanie and sweatshirt I'm immediately profiled. Anyways, I walk down a few isles while being peppered with questions of what I'm doing here and what am I looking for and that didn't last a minute before realizing that this is the second trip to this store where this has happened that I just turned around and got confrontational with the guy following me and asking what the F**** is going on here. I was in no way going to get physical or looking to get physical I just was so uncomfortable I had to know what was going on. He tells me he's making sure I'm not stealing anything. I freaking lost it, I've never stolen anything in my life. A few other things were said but whatever its irrelevant except I did come to find out it was because I was in fact wearing a beanie and sweatshirt. Great way to treat potential customers!! There are so many other ways to prevent losses, you should look into how other stores do it cause your method of loss prevention has directly lead to you loosing more money from customers leaving and never coming back than the amount from actually stolen items! I went in for a few small items to make some repairs around the house. I found what I needed (I looked online before heading over). I liked the fact that I could go into a small shop and find what I needed fairly easily--a couple of rolling latches for a cabinet and a sliding door pull. These items were not available in any of the big box stores so I was happy to find them here. It was also nice to walk in without feeling overwhelmed by a big crowded store. I am disheartened to hear so many complaints about the way customers were treated at this location. It definitely affects how I feel about the place and whether to return; however during my visit there were two Hispanic employees who did not bother me at all or make me feel out of place. In fact helpful and let me take my time to look around. Maybe it was because the owner wasn't there but I had a good experience. I recommend looking online first for what you want but if you want an alternative to a big store then I suggest trying this place. read more

First, let me tell you that I've read the prior reviews that criticize this Ace Hardware store as being racist, rude, obnoxious, etc, etc. I have never experienced any of these things. But I have experienced a very direct (understand that being "direct" is not the same as being rude) clerk who would not honor the prices you see online. THAT is my ONLY concern with this store. In an era where 'brick and mortar" stores are competing against real online competitors, you would expect them to at least honor the prices shown on their website. NOT this Ace Hardware store. I was in a bind relative to time and needed a 100' rubber garden hose. I looked online and found that Ace had just the hose I needed for $59, a very good price for such a hose. But when I went to this Ace the price shown on its shelf was $89 !!!! ESSENTIALLY A 50% DIFFERENCE !! I was certain it was miss-marked. But when I asked the check out clerk to check the price he said "oh, that's the online price that you only get when you order it online and wait about a week to have it delivered to the store ... where you would pay the lower price". Like I said, he was DIRECT but not rude. I asked if there was a manager there that would approve the price listed online and he said "sorry, that's our store policy and I don't set the rules". So I bought the hose for $89. But when I got back home I checked the online listing and found that there was no such warning of a potential price difference. I then search the web and found that many (not all) of the Ace Hardware stores will honor the price. But apparently not this one. So I kept the $89 hose but developed a work-around for its intended use so as to use my Costco $25 100' one. I returned that $89 one to that Ace Hardware store for a refund. But this is probably the biggest case of price gouging I have ever witnessed. It is my hope that you be aware of this and do a couple things: 1. DO GO ONLINE and look at the Ace Hardware site. I find that for a relatively small store they have a lot of products that other brick and mortar stores no longer stock. For instance, they have specialty "Black Box" gopher traps that are the best in the world as well as specialty toilet repair parts that are very difficult to find. 2. PRINT out a copy of the online price off their site. 3. CALL the local Ace Hardware store BEFORE you go to it and ask them what their price for is ... and if it differs from the price you see on THEIR website if they will match that price. If not, call other Ace Hardware stores until you find one that will. 4. IF you can wait the week for a purchase off their online site and convenience or a time dependency is not an issue, order it online and get both the product at the price your deserve. I'm certain this Ace Hardware store thinks it will make more money by playing games against its own online pricing vs that which they charge for it in the store. But if my MBA is worth anything, they will "disturb off" many potential customers (like me and probably you). And in the process, those customers will buy the product but wait a week or two before returning it and actually cost their store both a fair profit and customer esteem. All that said, Ace Hardware stores many times sell products that you can't find conveniently elsewhere and are well worth the additional expense (like that gopher trap). The ONLY reason I am rating them a "3" rather than a "5" is because of this store's price-gouging bait-and-switch strategy vs their own online price. This store is not racist and they are very helpful. And after I returned that hose I casually walked around the store updating my understanding of the products they sell ... and was only asked if there was something else I wanted. PS I will attach JPGs of the hose I wanted as well as an online expose from "The Crazy Coupon Lady" relative to Ace Hardware matching online vs in-store prices. PPS I consider a YELP 3 Star Review as just OK ... NOT A-OK. read more

After the reviews I've just read, I feel very comfortable pointing out the fact that this place is here to make you feel uncomfortable. My aunt and I walked into Ace hearing Jay use language that probably shouldn't be used with a customer..not only was the language inappropriate.. the whole conversation seemed heated and left us feeling concerned.... Don't even get me started about DARREN... the way he spoke to us was equivalent to someone speaking to a beaten dog (which is disgusting in its own right).. saying "come over here" repeatedly.. in a demeaning tone.. needless to stay, we decided not to purchase the goods we were looking for and will not be visiting that store again. I'm just going to be blunt. If an employee is going to treat you like crap and make you feel like you are bothering them, then why come back to the establishment. Very disappointed with this store. We bought a plumbing kit for a repair we were doing...we were unsure if it was the correct part. "Jay" assured us if ut didn't fit or if it was the wrong one we can return it, if unused. So we bought it, went home...unfortunately it didn't fit. I went back to the store to do the return. An employee (looked like Jay) looked at it and refused to do the return. He told me that i gave him used parts. I told him.. we opened it, to see if it was going to fit/work.. but it wasn't used. I was told I could return at any hardware and the ACE in Bishop was closed when we left. I went in and the gentlemen wouldn't let me return. My husband just returned home from the Ace Hardware in Corona at 6th St & Lincoln. (He stopped going to the Ace Hardware in Norco on Hamner which is 1/2 mile from us as he had numerous bad experiences in the last year and has vowed to never walk through the doors again after nearly 30 yrs of shopping there) I ask him how the store visit went and he said..."The store was clean and organized, the employee directed to what he was looking for and was friendly. He paid and the older Hispanic man at the register actually thanked him for coming in". In this day and age, we don't ask for much, however, this store was a pleasant experience. Thank you Ace! The staff is very helpful and probably more so than the competing stores. Just had two screens replaced/re-done for us - frames, screens, and tabs. They turned out very nice and cost only $20 each, so that was a plus. Nice staff. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because they said the screens would be done either Thursday or Friday and I didn't get a call until Sunday. I didn't think to ask when they closed that day so when I showed up at 7 and found that they had closed at 6...I was disappointed that I made the trip for nothing. They lost the paperwork to my order at the store and if I would've never followed up I would've not known that my order was ready to be picked up. Upon arriving the owner(Indian man) was very rude because I was showing him the email of the receipt on my phone and he wanted it printed out. It's not my responsibility to have the paperwork that they should've had. Just all together a very bad experience. First let me tell you the prices are high, i bought an insecticide ( for 15 dollars) with a faulty leaky sprayer causing the stuff to leak in my car. when i came back in before i could say anything he said we don't give refunds only exchanges. I said well that's what i came in for was an exchange. So he sent someone to get the product and when he gave it to me i asked.,,,are you saying if there was not anymore you wouldn't refund me and he said no because we don't give refunds.Even though i bought it a few minutes ago and the sprayer doesnt work? This should be posted somewhere. Because Ace is independently franchised that little Indian guy at the register is probably the owner and you as a customer have no recourse. Today I walked into the Ace Hardware store located in Corona (1124 W 6th St, Corona, CA 92882) and was harassed and stereotyped by one of your employees. As I walked into the store an older Indian gentlemen who said his name was Jim refused to let me proceed to shop for my work supplies he told me "coffee was not allowed in the store". So I went outside finished my coffee and proceeded to re-enter the store and the gentlemen once again harassed me and told me I wasn't allowed to shop in the store because I had a hooded sweatshirt on. I shop at this store weekly for supplies I need for work. I have always come in dressed in a hoodie because of the early morning cold weather, so I do not catch a cold or flu. I have never been insulted and harassed by an employee in any store before today, this man was very disrespectful.
