I recently went to this Ace to buy some steel from their metals rack. I found it nearly empty, with nothing I could use. When I asked an employee how often it was re-stocked, they shrugged and said, "I dunno" and pointed me to the manager. Really?? Okay... The manager said he was too busy to help me, a paying customer. When I asked if there was someone else who wasn't too busy to help a customer, this "manager" did the same shrug and "I don't know" AND THEN TURNED AWAY FROM ME. His name badge said Andy or Andrew. Unreal! Like a Twilight Zone episode! Never in my life have I experienced retail staff as rude and incompetent as this. I could see why he was "too busy to help me" though, since the store was torn apart and seemed to be getting renovated while they were open - it was a huge mess with junk all over the floor in the aisles, and trip hazards everywhere. This Ace location has always been great to me. The employees are friendly and helpful. If I flag down a worker on the floor who can't help me, that worker will bring me to someone that can. They seem to always have what I need in stock, especially specific nuts and bolts. Pricing is very fair too. Love having this Ace in my neighborhood. read more

This ACE is not in my neighborhood, but I drive extra miles to shop here. All of the employees are so nice and helpful. They ALWAYS go out of their way to help, and the store has plenty of employees, unlike Home Depot and Lowes. Whoever orders the products is very thoughtful and smart. I appreciate finding stuff I need that I didn't realize I needed. Free popcorn and dog treats are the cherry on top. Today I had a great experience with employee Aaron. This place has the best customer service. I am not handy and know nothing about hardware. Whenever I go in, I ask any employee for what I'm looking for and they find it for me. When Wayfair shipped me table parts and no hardware, I brought in the instruction manual and a sales associate helped me find every piece of hardware I needed to build the table. One time I went in for screws for a new drivers license, and the sales associate came out and tested them on my car to make sure they fit (the standard plastic ones were not working with my new license plate). This is technically the closest hardware store to my house, which is probably why I keep going here despite consistently bad experiences. I'm hoping this most recent experience will keep me away indefinitely. 100% of the times I have bought something at this store, I have later had to drive back to return it. That's not hyperbole. Their selection is terrible, so you will find yourself settling for some alternative that inevitably does not work. The knowledge of the store employees is also close to nil (not to say many aren't well intentioned), and often times the service can only be described as inattentive and apathetic. Mother's Day weekend, notoriously the busiest garden weekend in Colorado, particularly along the Front Range, and with one exception, I had the absolute worst service and worst experience at this Ace Hardware location. I have to say, this weekend's experience was not unusaul, as I have been to this Ace location before, and it is nearly impossible to find helpful, knowledgeable, or resourceful employees. I went to the across the street location to pick out the compost and soil I needed for my projects and not a single person staffed there, of which three showed up in the yard and subsequently left, never to return was able to provide normal, routine assistance. It is a very simple task to write down what the customer wants and provide it to them so that they can take it inside the store and PAY! Two of the three suggested I just bring my vehicle around to load up and then leave. I literally watched three "customers" load up soil/compost materials into their vehicles and leave without paying. So, I guess if you like to steal your garden supplies, this is the store for you! The third individual- a teenaged, oversized ape of a human being- seemed so entirely clueless about his job/role/duties there I had to question whether this Ace location is hiring the mentally disabled (which, ok, good for them and society) but was utterly and entirely useless. What was abundantly clear to me was: 1) the store was woefully understaffed for what is known as a busy weekend; 2) the management provides little to no training for its employees or supervision of its employees; 3) the management had absolutely no control or semblance of authority over its employees working in the remote garden area; 4) the management provided no clear direction to employees working in the remote garden area; 5) this store does not prioritize customer relations, customer satisfaction, or even customer assistance. I will never return to this Ace location, but again, I encourage others looking for a "steal" to make haste, they are literally giving the stuff away and the management doesn't seem to care in the least. read more

I love this place. When I first moved here, one of the guys who worked here helped me buy everything I needed to refurbish a dresser. From sanding recommendations to stain. Now I'm doing a bunch of yard work and Jennifer, who has a landscaping background helped me. Super good prices here, friendly service, and close by. Well, Chris (the day Manager perhaps?) was not very helpful or customer friendly. I went to buy some house paint. Had a great chat with the worker behind the paint counter. I picked up some caulking (sitting in a tub clearly marked $2.59) and went to the cash register. The cashier scanned it and it came up as $6.99. I went and checked the price and grabbed another tube in case the SKU / barcode wasn't scanning correctly. Again, it rang up for $6.99. "Chris" was called, I told him I grabbed it from a bin clearly marked $6.99 and I could go show him where I found it. His reply, "Ok, but do you mind getting in the back of the line?" So rather than being concerned that he had a bunch of product displayed in a wrongly priced bin, he was more concerned with me holding up the line. So rather than assisting a long time customer (I have been going to that ACE since it opened years ago) he was more concerned with me holding up the line. Chris, don't worry about me holding up your line. I won't step foot in your ACE again. I went to Guiry's at 2950 W. 44th (next to Starbucks on Federal) and bought a can of Benjamin Moore paint - ACE's highest quality paint- for $5 less than the can I was going to buy at ACE. Oh- and their caulk, the same one that you had priced for $6.99, was $2.14. Make your drive 3 minutes longer and save money and receive better customer service. Go to Guiry's. read more

This is an excellent Ace hardware store. They have almost everything you could want, and the price is only a bit more than similar items from Home Depot of Lowes. Because it is in the neighborhood, it is easy to walk to or bike to, so I often will go here for items I find I suddenly need. Parking is easy, because they have their own lot. This hardware store is in a convenient location which is probably the only reason I ever go there. They are horrible, the workers don't know where things are in the store to start. Maybe they hired some new people because of Covid - that's excusable. What isn't excusable is taking 5 weeks to replace a screen. Brought 2 window screens there to get replaced and rebuilt with exact measurements. They didn't call me when they were ready, after they said it takes 5-7 days. 10 days later I finally call and they say oh ya they're ready we just didn't call you. I get my screens, they're the wrong size of course. Go back, tell them to fix it, go get "fixed" screen, still the wrong size. Then my roommate tried picking up for a 3rd time, they tried to charge him and were extremely rude! I'll be going to Home Depot from now on. read more

As new renters to the house, we have found that we needed to do a lot to make it a comfortable environment for us. This means some improvement projects and a lot of trips to hardware stores. The very nice staff at Ace Hardware has guided us the entire way multiple times we've gone. At times we just bring the instructions of a piece of furniture and explain what we think we need and we walk out with a reasonably priced perfect piece of hardware. The staff are consistently helpful and understanding of new renters who don't have much knowledge of what they need. It really does feel like your neighborhood hardware store. Previously, we had gone to Home Depot and were extremely disappointed about getting such a runaround when asking for help, so do not plan to return there and plan to continue to use Ace for all of our needs. read more

I'll come in with exact pictures of what I need, or an example of the broken thing I need to replace, and they either don't have it or recommend something that doesn't work. They didn't even have normal dry wall anchors the last time I went in, and the person working there didn't know what paper bags for lawn clippings were. Love this place! Definitely has a neighborhood "mom and pop" feel. I went simply for bolts for my license plates, and the guy helping me actually took 30 minutes out of his day to help me get a stripped bolt out of the bumper (it had been super glued in so it took forever to get out). He then installed my plates without me even asking. I doubt this is in his job description, necessarily, to do installs of any sort, and this going "above and beyond" mentality is super important to me as a customer, and as someone who runs a bar and has high expectations for good "service".... CHRIS was the associate who helped me. Super nice, super friendly and helpful. If you ever need anything, ask for him and hopefully he is there! You want above and beyond service? David Garcia is the BEST! I bought a replacement deadbolt for my door. I unscrewed the screws in the faceplate of the old lock but for the life of me, could not get it off. Thinking I must be missing something and didn't want to damage my door trying to rip the lock off, I called Ace hoping someone could give me some insight to this apparent black art of removing an old lock. I spoke to David in hardware who asked me to text photos to him. He couldn't see anything unusual with the pix. But he says he's about go on his lunch break and he would be willing to stop by and change the lock for me as long as I am comfortable with it. He does a lot of handy jobs on the side and would be more than happy to take a look. I was thrilled and TOTALLY comfortable with him coming by. I mean he's an Ace employee. I felt as comfortable as any other vetted contractor. And way safer than getting into some Uber drivers' car! Long story short, he looked at the lock, figured out why it wasn't coming off. Bada bing, bada boom, removed the lock, replaced it with the new one and was done in about 15 minutes. Of course I paid him for his time (money VERY well spent). I'm in the store all the time and everyone has always been super nice and helpful. Some maybe a little more crusty but they're always helpful. This store is lucky to have such nice and helpful people such as David. I'm a loyal customer for sure! read more

I went into the store today (July 1) to buy a new grill. I had the chance to meet Kelly, who spent 40 minutes with me sharing the benefits of each charcoal grill, in addition, to the options I should consider for grilling. I ended up with the perfect grill (for less money) with a much better value due to the additional options. She even provided the charcoal and lighter that she uses at home. I went in to Ace Hardware with a water hose I'd purchased a few months back that had a tear near the top nozzle. I read online that the policy for that particular hose was a 30 day money back guarantee. I did NOT have a receipt. I was apprehensive to take it back, but took it with me as I also planned to purchase some flowers and soil also. They were AMAZING and replaced the broker hose with very little question.
