The employees are lovely individuals. They are polite and helpful. But every time I've gone in, and I've had to interact with a manager or an assistant manager they have been rude and unhelpful. They also under staff this location consistently. Almost every time I've gone in there hasn't been enough employees to help the customers that are in the store which means long wait times. This will be my last time going to the Edgewater Ace Hardware. It's very disappointing because this is my closest Ace to my house and for the last three decades of my life, Ace has been my go to and has been extremely helpful. But each Ace Hardware is individually owned so I will be going to a different Ace from now on. Do not waste your time. Just go to a different location. read more

Impressed!! I don't have much experience with Ace Hardware stores, other than the one in my neighborhood. Mine is a much smaller, nostalgic store. I feel like I am shopping in the 1950's when I go there. This store is different, very different. First, its a very large and spacious store. You can get lost shopping here. Second, there are some interesting and highly convenient sections. You can get key copies made on the cheap. Also, there is a freakin' post office inside. Drop your mail off while you shop! I love this store. They have everything I need around the house, in my neighborhood, for decent prices. I got a really cute bird-feeder there and some seed for a good deal. There is also a post office, which is super convenient. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and best of all, THE CANDY. This store has one of the greatest selections of candies in the area. I've never seen the brand "Wiley Wallaby" licorice before, and now I come here just to try all the different amazing flavors. I highly recommend the licorice allsorts. I have to stop myself from eating them all! Also, the garden section is excellent, and I'm very excited to plant my seeds this week. Great store. read more

Poor customer service. I stood in the paint studio section waiting to get some paint mixed up for me. There was no one attending the booth when I came up to get my paint color mixed. Im standing at the booth writing this review. I've been waiting here since 4:57 and it's now 5:19pm. I've asked for help from the cashier's desk and they've assured me that someone will be coming and that was 10 minutes ago. Where are the staff????? The staff at the location in Jewell Ave. in Lakewood are very attentive, responsive and great with customer service. Not sure what is going on at this location. **Update...an employee walked up while I was sitting on the floor (as I got tired of waiting) and he said that he was away at lunch. Okay, I understand that people have a lunch break, but shouldn't someone be covering for him? Or maybe have a "be back in 25 mins" sign so that customers know that they'll be waiting? read more

I generally go out of my way to patronise locally owned and operated businesses, so I like Ace over the other DIY stores... Well, usually, that is. But this morning was another issue entirely; never have I been so rudely treated. I will not be returning. The woman at the till, when I walked up to the till this morning to pay for something I had stepped outside to pick-up after the nice gentleman helped me locate something that I needed and informed me that the other thing I needed was outside, I was rudely informed that 'there is a queue.' I looked at the empty queue except for the gentleman just entering the queue behind me. I would not have been so offended except that this same woman had just yesterday refused to serve me when I came to the front of the queue when somebody walked into the store and directly up to her till. After telling me three times that there was a queue, and refusing to even hand me the items that had been left at her till two minutes later, I smiled, said "Thank you, I will not be needing this any longer," placed the item I had come in with on the counter, and, wishing her a nice day, walked out, got into my car and pulled away. I would have let this go, except for the fact that as I was pulling out of the lot, two employees of the store came to the door yelling at me and showing me their middle fingers. By the time I got to the front of the store, a third employee had joined me and was yelling at me that there was no need for my behaviour. I opened my window and explained that there was no reason for their cashier to be so rude to me either. I then closed the window and drove off. Had it only been that I was being treated rudely by the cashier, I could have probably let this go and not felt the need to leave thus scathing review, but the other employees who came out to insult me for not wanting to endure the rude behaviour to which I was subjected was just beyond the pale. I shall not be returning to patronize this store again. read more

5 star service that I wish I could rate as a 10 star. The workers here are extremely helpful and will go the extra mile to make sure you get everything you need, no matter what. Case in point is when I bought a Traeger from here, the store rep, Jeff, walked me through all of the different types of smokers available and spent the time to answer my questions and make sure I got the right one. Soon after my Traeger was delivered, the paint began to bubble and chip on the front barrel and despite multiple calls with Traeger, they would not send any replacement and blamed it on user error and not faulty paint. Jeff was extremely helpful and along with Tanisha, talked with their own Traeger contacts and were able to get a new Traeger delivered. It was delivered perfectly and promptly by Tyler who provided comforting words that this was something he'd also never seen in his multiple years of service handling Traegers. Overall, 10/10 experience and the Edgewater Ace will always have my business. read more

There are two reasons to visit this Ace: 1) you need something for barbecuing. Literally the biggest department in the store. 2) you need hardware. Their hardware department is the largest of any Ace I've seen in this area. That's it. If you need anything else- plumbing, tools, electrical, you can count on only one thing: half the shelves and pegs will be empty. I've never seen anything like this at any other Ace. None of the other Ace Hardware stores seem to have the stocking problems this one does. They all source out of the same warehouse - I asked. I have no idea what's going on with their remarkable lack of stock - I should have taken photos - if I ever bother going back, I will - but I'm pretty sure we can all blame the manager and/or the owner for not firing the manager. Staff at Edgewater is more helpful than most of the staff at the Highlands store, these days, for what it's worth. read more

Team members and night time Mangment had little experience and understanding of what I was talking about despite me providing very good details and pictures of the items they had in stock online. Every time I go to this Ace Hardware I wonder why I didn't drive four more minutes to go to the one at 26th and Kipling. There could barely be two more divergent experiences of what should ostensibly be pretty much the same business. I went in here the other day and needed to buy some wire by the foot. I went back to where it was, and couldn't find anything to cut it with. There was no employee to be found to help, so I grabbed the spool of wire and headed to the service counter. After standing there five minutes I eventually realized no one was coming to help there either. I went to the aisle with snippers, grabbed some, measured and cut the wire, made a note of the sku number and price, then returned the reel and headed to the register. There was a 10 minute line at the registers because only one was open. I could not determine where in the world any employees were in this store. When I got to the register, the sku rang up a price that was 50 cents more per foot than the price tag on the reel said. I was so tired of being in this poorly run store by that time that I didn't even have the heart to argue. Just straight up let them rip me off. To contrast, the following day I needed hardware, plumbing stuff, and a paint scraper and went to Ace at 26th and Kipling. Three separate employees helped or offered to help in each specific section. When I went to leave I walked directly to the register, paid the correct price, and left. Everyone was super nice and helpful, as they are every time I've been in there. I think Edgewater Ace has seen the last of me, not sure why to give it two stars instead of one. I guess because they actually do have the stuff you need, if you can find it completely on your own. read more

I just had the most amazing experience at this store! I went in because I needed to attach new license plates to an old collector car. Jeff, one of the managers of the store, not only helped me figure out an approach to attached the plates, but made 3 trips with me out to the car to make sure it worked and then brought tools and actually attached the plates to the car for me. I have not seen this level of service in a very long time! It was so far above and beyond that they've made a loyal customer out of me for sure. read more

Can't say much that you wouldn't already guess, this isn't a large Ace location but they should have at least one option for your job at hand. Most everyone knows what they want or need before they go in these days, but if you're not a seasoned DIY repair person and want to shoot an idea or get help with something, some of the larger stores can be daunting or unfortunately not familiar with home repair. While not every employee is a licensed carpenter, I find more often than not when I'm in an Ace location anywhere, I can usually find someone who has experience with what I'm about to tackle and will share that insider tip that could save you a step or a trip back. I've purchased some larger items at this store and have experience with the return service, honored exactly what they promised, exchange was painless and by the book. Why anyone would go to Home Depot when this place exists is beyond me! I freaking love this place. Every time I go in, I am greeted right away by the most knowledgeable and helpful staff members. They literally walk me through the store and show me where every piece of my project is located. Beyond that, they explain the best ways to approach my project! The customer service here is unmatched. They are all amazing, but Jeff really kicks it to the next level. He knows me by name and asks me how my previous projects turned out. Seriously this place is a godsend. I have never been great at fixing things up myself, but I truly feel that with their help I could do anything! A couple of weeks ago I was it was late and they weren't open so I had to go to Home Depot. The difference was stunning. At Ace, I am greeted with friendly and helpful workers, eager to assist me. At Home Depot, I have to search for an employee. When I finally find one, they usually don't know what I am talking about or where to find it. I leave Home Depot feeling nervous about what I bought. When you ask for a propane refill associates makes you bring heavy propane take from your car to right outside of the store. Then asks you to take back to propane "wall" then states he will leave it at the wall. What horrible customer service. Maybe next time I should just fill it myself? I feel queasy when I have to go somewhere like Home Depot. The overhead floodlights, the high isles, the smell of sawdust...I don't like it. Even the lure of men walking around in tool belts and carrying heavy objects can't cheer me up. So, I was happy to learn an Ace hardware was in my neighborhood. I was even happier to receive amazing service on a Sunday morning. I needed to pick up a few items and get some keys made, and though there were only two guys in the store they were running back and forth and radioing each other to make sure I could find everything I needed. While the idea of free food at a place that sells things like toilet seat lids, doesn't exactly whip me into a frenzy...they do give you free popcorn and BBQ free hot dogs outside on days when it is nice. read more

Only a few times have they not stocked the items I need, and considering my wierd and esoteric needs in the hardware department, that isn't unusual. One star because the post office in here is a scam. I took a package to the regular post office on Depew and it was $4.50 for 4 day shipping. The package weighed 13.3 ounces. Unfortunately I forgot my wallet so had to cancel the shipping. The next day I went to this Ace since it's next to my work. They wanted $7.65 for 7 day service and claimed my package weighed 1 pound 4 ounces. It was just 12 ounces of coffee in a paper envelope! Their scales are so messed up and they charge more than the regular post office. I took it back to the post office on Depew and guess what? $4.50 for 4 day shipping and it still weighed 13.3 ounces. read more

We know the workers by name and they have an excellent off-hand knowledge of how to use the products we have purchased. Recently my husband purchased a Traeger grill and they assembled and delivered it for free. Jeff, the employee who delivered it, also has the same model. This is a good hardware store. Better service than I've received at the other name brand hardware stores and most certainly better than Target/Wal-Mart. They are a bit pricey on *some* items, but nothing too crazy. I did an all out price comparison assault between the internet pricing and Ace Hardware on about 50 items I needed for a project I was doing. ACE (and their 20% off sale) won about 50% of the time when stacked up against Amazon and the like, even when considering tax. Pleasantly surprised with the service I received from this Ace Hardware. When I was doing said price comparison, one of the employees took it upon themselves to be our personal assistant for 45 minutes. Folks are always friendly and helpful when I go here. I even placed a special order (with free ship to store) with no issues. My specially ordered products arrived on the very day they were promised. Overall a good spot. I'll be back. read more

Sometimes they have exactly what I need, and great customer service. Yet sometimes you can't find help, and when you do it's not the usually friendly service I've come to except from Ace. Sadly I was in there the other day and the person helping me, knew little of what she was talking about. To her credit she did try to help to the best of her ability. She should have had someone from that department help me in the first place though. I ended up going to Home Depot down Colfax and Teller. They had everything I needed, and the person helping me knew everything about what I needed. Ace is great if you need a quick easy to get items in my opinion. read more

I've gone here several times since moving to the area. They have an extensive selection. The boyfriend usually ends up finding something he didn't even know he needed (like how I am at Target). The staff is helpful too. I usually have to track someone down for help, but once I find someone, they're great. Plenty of parking and right by King Soopers, so you can knock out more than one errand at once. read more

Don't go here if you need to ship anything!! Even though their sign says they close at 6, it's a lie. I've been coming here for the last 6 months and the post office closes early every time.
