This is an excellent neighborhood hardware store. Every time I enter I'm immediately greeted by the cashiers and then get 5-star level concierge level service by the store helpers. If I have a long list of supplies to get, they divide and conquer for me, helping locate everything I need and taking care of other services (like key fob battery replacement) at the same time. I went into the paint department, picked up the roller cover, and needed a plumbing clamp in and out in less than 10 minutes. I stopped in at my local Ace Hardware today for the first time. I was in need of a paint match, and outdoor timers for Christmas lights. The gentleman in paint was super helpful and friendly. He took the time to understand my needs, and helped me get the right paint, sheen and color to match what I have. While I was waiting on my custom paint, a woman assisted me in finding the 6 outlet outdoor light timers. She thought they were all gone after the holiday season, but after some research she found them. While she was looking, another gentleman asked if I needed assistance. It was so nice to have people ready and willing to help, which is something you don't always find at the large hardware stores. Upon checking out, I noticed they had a Christmas Vacation inflatable outdoor decoration that was 50% off. It looked like the display was the last one, but the same woman who helped me locate the timers found one in it's box. I failed to get her name, and the gentleman's name in paint, but both provided absolutely STELLAR customer service. Whenever I visit these small hardware shops, I'm reminded that I need to visit them for all my home repair needs. I will most definitely be back! read more

I stopped in for aspen pads for my swamp cooler. I needed (4) 28x34 pads. Not only did they not have any the right size. They didn't have a complete set of 4 pads of any size. Your indifferent employee said it's a supply problem. Always a handy lame excuse. I ordered a set from Amazon. They never seem to have a supply problem and I didn't have to deal with an indifferent employee. Next time I probably just go to Amazon first and save my self the time and effort. read more

Very knowledgeable paint counter staff. Very friendly and helpful. Doc even opened a can of stain for me so I could verify the color. They have all the basics for home maintenance. Sure they are a bit more expensive than big box, but here I don't have to chase down an employee for 5 minutes just to be told "I don't know" or given incorrect info. Ace employees are available and friendly 95% of the time Not sure why this location has a lower rating than others. My guess is because of the Westwoods customer base. A great central location for the west Arvada area since the nearest Home Depot is about 15 to 20 minutes away. Its quick and easy to come find something here and the staff is extremely helpful. Ace is a small store so they don't so they don't have a large variety in products. However they do have something for just about anything. I can find paint, school supplies, home improvement, gardening, camping, fishing, sports, outside improvement, grilling and kitchen needs and more. Ace can be a bit pricey with the smaller stock, but I love coming here. I even find help with gathering materials for my science experiments for my class. They tend to get more of in season materials so right now gardening and grilling is much more stocked. Even my daughter likes coming here because they have feee popcorn for her to munch on while we shop. It is by far a home depot and you wont fins materials here to do a massive project. However, it is a great place to come to get small or few items especially in the area when a trip to the bigger stores would take a long time. read more

Really friendly neighborhood store! I'm house sitting, and the garage door remote didn't work. I wasn't able to open the remote to identify what type of battery it needed. I took it to the service desk at Ace, and Jonathan not only opened it for me but also replaced the battery and, at my request, showed me how to do it so I could handle it next time. Because he was spending extra time on my request, he radioed for additional help so the customer behind me didn't have to wait, which seemed particularly professional. Also, the gentleman sitting at the front of the store who asks how they can help and then directs you towards the correct aisle must have encyclopedic knowledge of the store. "Where could I find compressed air?" "Aisle 28 on the left side at the bottom." That's some Google maps-level precisión. I will be a return customer for sure! read more

First, I love Ace Hardware as a franchise. You can't beat the service and prices are decent. It was my favorite store in the late Paradise CA before the town burned down, and we spent literally 10's of thousands of dollars there over the 38 years we lived in Paradise. They would NEVER have done what the owner and management of this store did, no way no how, and that is why that store in Paradise was the 9th highest volume store in the US despite the town only having 30K people living there to access it. We took my wife's 2015 Subaru Forester to the store to buy a replacement key fob for it for $199 + tax a few weeks ago, ordered one and when it came in last week we took it in for programming. Someone named Josh took on the task. After fumbling around for some time he was obviously perplexed by what was happening and summoned Tony, who may be the store manager I'm not sure. My wife left the scene at that point to do some shopping next door, and when she returned a few minutes later the car had been moved to the back of the store for access to electricity. When they were done my wife got in the car and noticed several warning lights presented on the dash which are not normally there: a check engine light, a hill-start control light fault, an X-mode light that should not be on, and the cruise control was stuck in the on position. In a nutshell this car had zero electrical problems of any kind until Ace connected their programming device to the car's electronics. She challenged them as to this and they offered no solutions and my wife left w/ her car not knowing what to make of the sudden appearance of warning lights which did not turn off. So we called them back, said we needed this resolved. They offered no solution, and Tony claimed the entire event was 'coincidental' and their store takes no responsibility for what transpired. We asked to have the store owner call us, which he did in a few days. Subaru charged us $87 to fix the problem that was on no uncertain terms caused by this Ace Hardware's 'programming' of their key fob. The owner told me today the best he would do is refund our initial charge for the fob, and we eat the repair bill from Subaru. Oh, and the Ace fob does not work, despite their programming and Subaru's repair. It's possible somehow the repair done at Subaru killed the programming but we have no way to know since we never even had a chance to test the newly programmed fob--we were focused on resolving the sudden appearance of multiple warning lights in a car that has never had any electrical problems and is a fairly low mileage car. After hearing this decision by owner, Tim, to not pay for repair of the damage caused by their staff in attempting to program the key fob I can appreciate where Tony the manager got his 'customer service' cues from. Tony is the guy who immediately excused Ace from any responsibility in this claiming the appearance of warning lights was 'coincidental', not caused by their handiwork, even though it occurred immediately upon completion of their programming operation. Tim, this is penny-wise and pound foolish. We are regular patrons of Ace and we will continue to be, but we will never use this store again even though it is closest to us, and I will go out of my way to share this story w/ everyone I can in casual chat, and online via social media as well. I guarantee you Tim over the coming months and years you will lose way more money than the $87 you are shirking over this. read more

Tim, Tony and the staff here are awesome. Always find what I need and usually more. I had my garage floor cracking do to our wonderful Colorado Highway chemicals. Took some pictures to show Tim and the staff and they put me on to one of his sales assistants and walked thru the entire Epoxy floor painting. The tips given really helped out. Now I have the best looking garage floor in my community. This summer I needed screens made for my garage - gave them the measurements and within a week picked them up and they fit perfectly. My Dad and I came in today to get a few things. He specifically asked where the discount stain was, that he had seen it a few days earlier, he just couldn't remember where it was. The older gentleman helping us said "i don't know, but here's the regular priced stain on this aisle". So lo and behold, we finally found it without anyone's help. It's great when employees are offering to help, but I would expect them to know what they are talking about, especially if you have specific questions. No offense, but guys in high school or right out of high school aren't going to know which paint stain is better than others, just my opinion. read more

I love ace but this is by far the worst store in the area. The associates are not as knowledgeable as other stores and are difficult to find a lot of times. The selection isn't as good as other stores and they aren't as accommodating as other locations. Always friendly and helpful staff. My daughter loves it when we come when they serve popcorn. The main reason I go to this hardware store is mainly due to the fact that they are the closest location to my residence, but it is nice to know that the staff is friendly and helpful when trying to grab some items in a hurried situation (or without having to take too long looking for items that one needs). One might not find things cheaper here than at the mega-hardware stores, but a lot of the time I find it comparable. read more

The not so helpful place. Had a question about a key. Guy walks out to check his phone and ignore me. I was looking to have my key blanks cut. Older guy was rude in telling me they wouldn't do it. Without even looking at my key he tells me they probably don't have the tool. Tells me to talk to his assistant store manager. "Manger" hides in the back to tell me the can't or won't do it. Which is fine but have the decency to speak to me and at least look at my key. Only my second time in but won't be back. read more

As a local handyman I am always running in and out of hardware stores all over the west side. I went in to this Ace on 64th with a small list of supplies I needed for a couple jobs. First off the two different sales people that tried to help me were anything but helpful, neither could actually answer any of my questions. Then I had a list of 6 items I needed and they didn't have any of them. These aren't specialty item, just standard item most of which they carrie but didn't have in stock. Items like screws, pipe coupler and vacuum that was advertised but out of stock and no rain check. Also as a Benjamin Moore retailer they don't even carry any of the B.M. deck products. I won't be wasting my time going here again, even if I do have several Ace reward dollars for this store I couldn't use on this trip. read more

I have mixed feeling about this hardware store. Sometimes they have what I need, other times they do not. Today they had exactly what I was looking for. However, one item was Ace's brand. I'm not sure about the quality. I needed 9 volt batteries and I also needed some round ( a bit unusual size) compact fluorescent lights for my closet. (This was the Ace brand item). I was greeted almost excessively from three different sales people in about five minutes. I do not generally go here first, because I can usually find the same item sometimes MUCH cheaper at another store. However, I have to use more gas to go to the other stores. All and all, the sales people were helpful and friendly and I did find what I was looking for, so I'm passing them with okay. Still room for improvement with availability (not only Ace brand items) and pricing. read more

The other day I went into Ace to pick up some jack chain. The young man helped me pick out the right chain and even cut it to length for me. That was all I needed so I went to the cashier to pay. The total was only $7 so I decided to pay with a Visa use anywhere gift card. As I handed the lady the card, she told me that they do not accept those types of cards at this store because the store gets charged $25 each time they swipe one. She was nice and asked if I could pay with something else. I didn't have any cash on me and I didn't want to put $7 onto a credit card so I told her no and walked out. I have shopped at this Ace once every couple weeks since it opened. I have never had any problems before. This store has the highest prices I have every seen. I ended up buying jack chain that was twice the size and double the length for less than $6 at Lowes. The lady at the Lowes in Arvada said they will take any Visa gift card because they are just like cash. I cant wait until the day Lowes or Home Depot decides to build out in West Arvada. If you need a part and need it fast, drive a couple miles east to D&G Hardware, they much better service and cheaper prices. read more

There are some particularly harsh reviews on here that condemn an entire operation over very particular scenarios. I do not find them fare or accurate. This Ace has continued over the last year plus to be convenient, generally knowledgeable and always friendly when me or my wife need something for our ongoing home projects. And my neighbors agree. You won't find that access to knowledge or as quick an attempt to help at the bigger and further away competitors. All in all I also find most of their pricing in line with the market. My local neighborhood Ace store is the best. Not once have I entered the store and someone not greeted me or asked if I needed help with anything. I frequent the store quite a bit, mostly for paint supplies and paint, and each time the staff has been friendly, helpful and informative. I am willing to spend a bit more for extra attentive service, location, and available products, which Ace has each time I go in. I have needed my window screens re-screened, sprinkler parts, door parts, cleaning products, tons of paint supplies, gardening and lawn supplies, and popcorn for the kids! Second time coming here and people not having a clue what they are doing. This time I called and asked if they cut mirrors. The girl that answered the phone didn't know and said she would ask so I was placed on hold. Then came back on the phone and said yes they did cut mirrors. I made the drive here and I got to the store and asked where I bring my mirror to get cut. They then said that they don't cut mirrors. So I wasted my time with these idiots again. Ace sucks. Overpriced for stuff and usually don't have a good selection. And their staff is clueless. I still had to purchase other items but will be bringing my business to Home Depot which is twice as far away but at least I know what I'll be getting. Ace is not the helpful place. read more
