I had a very disappointing experience at Hidden Lakes Ace Hardware Store around 1:00 PM on 2/16/2026. I walked in, said hello, and was immediately stopped by the woman at the front because I was carrying my laptop backpack and shopping bags from the Walmart next door. Before I could even browse, she abruptly told me I would have to leave my bag at the front of the store. The interaction felt accusatory and uncomfortable, as if I was being treated like a criminal for simply walking in with personal belongings. I initially thought she might be offering a cart to help lighten the load, but instead I was asked to leave my property unattended. I politely declined. I would never feel comfortable leaving my laptop, wallet, and personal items at the front of a store. As a result, I decided to purchase my potting soil and chicken feed from Walmart instead. Unfortunately, what could have been my first time shopping here will now be my last. Making customers feel suspected or unwelcome is not good for business. I doubt anyone would appreciate being asked to leave their purse, cash, and laptop unattended at the front of a hardware store. Customer service and first impressions matter, and this experience fell far short of what I would expect. read more

I try to support local businesses anywhere I can but unfortunately my recent experience has changed that after going here multiple times/ week. I pulled the trigger on buying a stihl chainsaw with issues and no resolve. Purchased online and picked up the next day in the store. Just the saw. They forgot to give me the accompanying tools and manual. Got home and the chain was backwards with a loose bar nut. Easy fix myself and I even called the store to make sure other saws looked good so no future buyers get hurt. Let's not forget that the store never started it or looked it over before giving it to me per policy. Just bring it back if you have any issues, I was told by the manger Jeff. So I use it on a few 4" limbs and it does ok. 30 minutes later it's cutting off and bogging down. I'm not a novice to saws but couldn't get it working right. So I take Jeff on his word and bring it back 2 hrs after pickup and Jeff basically said nothing we can do since it's used with a rather rude tone and didn't even try to remedy the issue. I could warranty it but the owner won't be here until later this week maybe. I left. I wasn't too keen on my rude interactions with ACE or how I was up the creek without a paddle with a defective saw and near no help from the store. The owner reached out to me to take a look but honestly I don't want to step back into the store. Stihl basically said dang that's messed up how you were dealt with and is helping me out since the store won't. Hope no in the future gets hurt with their recklessness. read more

The welcome sign doesn't work. The left side entry door doesn't work. The propane tanks dont work so you can't refill those here. The propane button hasn't worked in over a year. On top of that the employees also don't work. A bunch of teenage girls running the store, nobody knows where anything is and the store is literally TRASHED, boxes everywhere, just a nasty little store. Just a general ACE. Not the selection of Home Depot or Lowes, but the staff are knowledgeable. Think that's why a lot of people prefer ACE over the "larger guys." All the things you need. Plus a post office meter in back. Can take some time to call someone to the counter (post office.) They'll also restring window frames and other small odd jobs. Nice store. read more

Ever since they moved to 72nd store. customer service is at an all time high staff don't know where things are and when they find where the items go and they are out but tell you I think we have them in the back and tell you BUT I DON'T have time to go look for them. I bought a hose from this ace hardware and it lasted all of five minutes. The hose blew up and had a 3 inch slit in the bottom of it. I had this hose bringing water to my pressure washer. I talked to the manager Arturo and he said the problem was it wasn't a pressure rated hose, anyone with any amount of experience with a pressure washer would know the hose that brings the water to it doesn't need to be pressure rated. This house was obviously defective. When I brought it back they charge me a 20% restocking fee. They did mention they had the right to refuse any return! Regardless of what the store policy was. I would never shop at this Ace Hardware again. if you don't want to get hosed, I would suggest using another store. read more

I love this place! I came in for a new sprinkler head, everything was well-organized, the signage is always easy to follow and I was in and out in under 5 minutes! It's well-lit, clean and easy to navigate! I was greeted by two separate employees and on my way up to check out a gentleman stopped his conversation with another employee to ensure I'd found everything I needed! When I told him "yes I did, thank you!" He said "okay, well you have a great rest of your day!" The hospitality here is great! I'll definitely be back to this location! read more

This is one of my favorite stores. All the staff is very knowledgeable about where everything is in the store. They almost always have what I need. Even though it's an Ace it has a mom and pop feeling. It also has a small post office in the back of store. They also have propane. read more

Terrible customer service 3rd time in a row. These people don't give a $%@# about any of their customers. The sales clerk was incredibly rude when the card reader didn't work. After reading other reviews, I learned this is a known problem since January and it's September! Not only did they tell me to pay cash, they didn't apologized or said thank you. In fact, they didn't say anything to me on all three visits, yet the card reader failed and caused a 5 minute delay each time. I'm done with Ace forever. read more

Checkout staff not very friendly, I walked in and there was no line so I walked right up to the register. The only service person at checkout was talking with someone (not an customer). When she stopped talking she told me I needed to go through the line but there had been no line when I walked up. So effectively she put me after a man who had walked up after me. When I went up to her for the second time, I explained what at happened and she said, "You are fine." Not, "I'm sorry," or, "thanks for explaining," or anything like that. Most of the Ace Hardware stores let me down on just about every visit these days. This one let me down today. I have been a plumber for ahout 20 years. I used to be able to count on Ace to find most faucet repair parts. Not anymore. This particular Ace couldn't even have the Price Pfister faucet seats that i needed. Price Pfister faucet seats are the most common faucet seats around. I could not find the Price Pfister faucet seats here. Shame on you Ace! read more

There is not always time to go to Home Depot when you only need one or two things. These guys have one of everything, even if it's not as cheap. Skip the traffic, skip the crowds, skip the lines. If you need one 2x4 or a handful of screws support your local Ace Hardware this place is awesome. And they refill propane by the pound which is cheaper and easier than King Soopers every time. read more

I almost never write good reviews for corporate chain stores, and the reason is simple- they are so well recognized, giving them a good review doesn't matter, they are able to squash the local independent stores whether they are reviewed or not (I will, however, write a scathing review when necessary). This review, however, is an exception to the rule... I'm used to being ignored wen i walk into stores, especially hardware stores, where everything is so vast and cavernous and overwhelming with the massive displays that it is too easy for the customer service folks to scurry away like so many cockroaches in the beam of a flashlight. It was a little startling, then, for me to walk into this particular Ace Hardware and be greeted by 4-5 employees, all of whom were honestly waiting for someone to help. Maybe it was because they were so bored, who knows, but it was nice to be able to take my pick of customer service agents, have them help me find what I need, and only what I need, and get me back out the door within 7 minutes. That absolutely never happens at Mega Super Big Block Depot Mart, and I rest comfortable guaranteeing that it never will. Which is why I will end up going back to this Ace Hardware when the need arises. ==== btw- i don't mean to give the impression that all Ace's are like this- the stores where I used to live were just as bad, customer service-wise, as the big guys. Ace is right around the corner from my house. It's your basic hardware store with one fantastic addition - a tiny post office in the back that's open until 6 pm. You'll find everything you'd normally find at a hardware store and then some here. They have an interesting collection of kitchen utensils back in the middle aisle. The prices are reasonable and we always have friendly service here. The cashier always greets me as soon as I walk in, even if she's waiting on someone else. read more

Stopped by here to try and pick up an infra-red thermometer, problem is.....nobody in the place seemed to know what that was, so they couldn't tell us whether they had any or not and instead just kept going in circles between cooking thermometers and patio thermometers. This ACE is a great example of how a hardware store should be. It is very well stocked and organized especially with the limited real estate they have. The staff are top notch when it comes to knowledge, customer service and friendliness. They are also equipped with a post office which makes it very convenient to ship seeing that there are no other post offices or shipping centers in the area. Also to correct the previous reviewer this ACE as for most of them in Colorado is privately owned and operated. So ACE hardware's may vary store to store. read more

My vacuum cleaner belt broke on 4th of July evening, just before company arrived. Bummer. Everybody was closed, of course, so I sucked it up and went down on the morning of the 5th to buy a new one (Saturday). They don't open 'til 8 and I arrived at about 7. While I was standing there reading the sign and searching my phone for options, the manager showed up. He not only told me the hours, he let me in, I bought the belt, and the problem was done. After going to Home Depot with a Disneyland line to get in and Lowes that was quick to say aisle 21 & too busy to offer any direction. I am thankful for this Ace hardware store, to save me absolute time and confidence in customer service. Would give 6 stars if I could. Highly recommend this store. Bad Management I had an issue with a product that I bought at this store. The manager (owner?) told me that I didn't follow the instructions for the product. I asked him to show me the instructions that I didn't follow and he refused. The faulty product also damaged other tools of mine. The owner refused to consider any compensation for my damaged products. I would recommend driving the extra 10 minutes to Home Depot or Loew's. Or anywhere else. read more

#1 - The customer service is amazing. There is always an employee watching the front door in order to immediately greet and direct incoming customers. They're always welcoming and friendly. For them, a question is never too big or too small, they will give you their undivided attention. #2 - They have a post office in here! Did you know that? I love that I don't have to drive 15 mins to my post office in order to send packages, buy mailing supplies, get stamps, etc.. It's all right here. To reaffirm point #1 - I've heard employees notify the post office section that I had entered the building with a package to send. By the time I made it to the post office counter, and employee was there waiting to help me. I appreciate them taking that initiative. #3 - They have some amazing sales here from time to time. My husband and I are also apart of their rewards program. You can receive coupons in the mail and email notifications about current sales. The missing star? Well, sometimes they just don't have in stock what I can find at bigger chain stores. But, I will always try here first. If my hunt for something specific is successful here, then I can feel that my money has gone towards a store that deserves it. read more

This is place is great. So refreshing to have a place to go that is not the size of an airplane hangar, and you dont even have to try and find an employee to get help. I was literally asked about 4 times if I needed help within 10 minutes of being in the store. Great customer service, very refreshing. The prices are a little higher than the airplane hangar so I downgraded to four stars. A few days after my first visit, I found out they have a REAL usps post office in the back, bam back to five stars! Please don't tell anyone about the post office, as both times I've gone there hasn't been a line. read more

This Ace hardware is always clean and the employees are helpful. They have a good selection of "urgent need" household repair items. Some of their nuts/bolts/screws aren't the best quality/grade. However since the location is conveniently located, it's worth a try, the nearest Home Depot is 15 minutes away. read more

This past week I went in to ask if they had something to clean the black gunk off the faceplate on my iron. The guy helping me wasn't sure of the right product so he suggested I bring my iron in. When I did, he offered to clean it off for me while I ran errands. When I got back I had a squeaky clean iron (for free) and a recommendation for an effective product. Placed a $300 order for wire fencing to be shipped to the store. Since it was supposed to be shipped to the store there was no tracking number for me to follow up on. It took Ace Hardware over a week to send me an email that my order was cancelled with no explanation. After calling to find out what happened, all they could tell me was that they were out of stock. No solutions. Just that I was not going to get my fencing. What a joke! read more

I am AMAZED buy the service I received today. I walked in and was immediately greeted. I wish I grabbed this guy's name because he was more than awesome. I asked for a set of keys to be made, and a small screw driver, just to remove a battery cover on an alarm clock. He showed me something that he owned personally, a small screw driver with multiple bits stored in the handle. Perfect for my needs. When he couldn't find it, he literally GAVE me his own. I was so shocked by this. Couldn't believe how nice he was, and on top of that, he made my keys within minutes. I think I spent a total of 5 minutes in that store, and because of him, it will be the only hardware store I go too from now on. read more

The best part about this store is the seasonal area is awesome. I can always pick up a gift or trinket while shopping for paint or rakes etc. It's nice to have a back up for Home Depot, and it is close and convenient. While they don't always have what you are looking for hardware wise, due to the limited space compared to a Home Depot type store, the friendly Ace staff make up for it. read more

Ace really is the helpful hardware place! The staff is always willing to answer questions and give advice. I went in this morning to purchase a metric socket for my socket set. Rick was helping me and saw that they didn't have the size I needed. I told him I was just trying to get something inexpensive that I could use to put license plates on my vehicle. Rick told me I didn't need to purchase anything because he was happy to put the license plates on for me. Can't get much better service than that!!!!! This place is as good as it gets! Great service, hospitality, and very good selection of products. Super helpful at the back counter/workshop. Also, very convenient compared to the larger businesses such as Loews, and Home Depot. My wife even feels comfortable showing them a "thing a ma jig" and comes home with the right replacement. read more

This was my favorite hardware store. They had things I used and that the neighborhood asked them to stock. Also, they had a post office substation which was one of the main reasons to go here. The prices were a little higher than say Home Depot, but they had some items the box stores didn't and it was much easier to get help. Things changed starting a few months ago.They moved out the PO ( replaced that area with what looks like either an office or some kind of storage - in either case, nit an area that services the customer's need) and many of the long time employees seem to have left. The area is smaller, since they moved out of part of the storefront next to them, and the selection of items is much smaller ( small parts have been reduced, etc.). I will be going to the Stanley lakes store near 100th and Wadsworth- just wish they were closer and had a post office, but I won't reward the 64th store for poor planning and service. read more
