I visited the Ace Hardware near Standley Lake for the first time recently, and while the staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, my overall experience was disappointing. Before going in, I called ahead to check if they had kiddie pools in stock. The employee on the phone was great--she took the time to physically check and confirmed they had several available, which I really appreciated. When I arrived, I worked with the Assistant Manager, Vanessa. She was polite and walked me outside to where the pools were stored. Unfortunately, this is where things started to fall apart. The pools were stacked haphazardly in the back corner of the lot, completely uncovered and sitting in direct Colorado sun. As a result, every single pool I saw was warped, dented, and misshapen from heat exposure. Vanessa had to climb over pallets to reach them and pulled one out from underneath a stack. The plastic was visibly bent in multiple places. I asked if there was any possibility of a discount due to the condition, and she quickly said, "we don't do that." When I pointed out the warping and explained my concern, she said discounts are only given if there are holes--but also admitted she couldn't guarantee there weren't any holes because of the condition of the pools. That was frustrating. It felt like there was no real effort to acknowledge the issue or offer any kind of reasonable solution, even though the product clearly wasn't in good shape. I ended up buying the pool because I needed it, but I left feeling taken advantage of. While the employees were kind, the way the products were stored and the lack of flexibility in handling an obvious quality issue didn't sit right with me. Personally, I wouldn't return. I'd recommend driving a little further to Murdoch's, where you can find similar items and (in my experience) better product quality and overall value. Update: After leaving this review, I was contacted by the general manager, who took the situation seriously and issued a full refund while allowing me to keep the item. I really appreciate the follow-through and effort to make it right. This response felt much more in line with the customer service I expect from Ace. read more

Standley Shore Ace Hardware is one of the best hardware stores and Ace stores I shop at regularly in Westminster. The staff is of all ages and everyone is always helpful and greet you when you walk in. I really like that they carry Craftsman brand items. They make keys, sharpen mower blades ( can take a couple weeks in peak season), re-screen doors and sell paint & supplies. I also like that they open at 7am six days a week. As a bonus sometimes got free popcorn . 2 thumbs up for sure. read more

He went from brain dumping, to googling, to chasing me around the store simply to offer a better solution and I couldn't thank him enough as he helped check a couple boxes when I intended to simply get a convenience item. This is... was my go to Ace Hardware in the area around Arvada. This store usually has a decent selection. They have a pretty high turnover of employees though and they range from pretty good to actually not so good in customer service. I've had minor problems here before but they usually were resolved satisfactorily but not always. Well tonight I went in to pick up some round steel stock for a project. I found the pieces I needed and decided to go with the cheaper unfinished rather than plated steel. The 3/4" rod was plainly marked $12.99 for 36" and $8.99 for the 1/2" plain. It rang up over $30 and so I asked what the prices were. The employee told me it was $18.99 for the 3/4" rod. I told him how it was marked and he told me I must've looked at the wrong bin. Wrenching for 50 years and knowing how things are done I told him I know it was the right bin and the difference in price between the plated @$16.99 and the plain rod $12.99. He told me that it didn't matter what it was marked it's $18.99. He sent a young man back to check the price. I asked the cashier to check the price of the plated rod but then decided to go look for myself. The younger man changed the price sticker on the bin and told me that it indeed was marked $12.99. I grabbed the plated rod and went to the register and paid $16.99 for the more expensive rod and will never go back to this location again. It is no longer worth the slight convenience of being a block or two closer. read more

I came to this Ace hardware in hopes of getting a defective craftsman ratchet warrantied, having worked at Sears and another Ace hardware location and having another tool warrantied just last week at another location, I know how the warranty works and as long as you have the tool and the part numbers match they should have no issue replacing it but I was told that I needed to have a receipt and have bought the tool here originally which is not how the craftsman lifetime warranty works. I will never be shopping at this location. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My husband had a Craftsman tool that needed to be replaced. I took it to this Ace since ours was already closed for the evening (64th and McIntyre, which is a great store). I picked up the exact duplicate of the tool I needed to replace. The girl at the register asked where the original tool was purchased, I said it was probably Sears long ago. She said she needed to ask her manager if she could do the exchange. She then walked outside for a few minutes and then came back in to use the phone to call her 'manager'named Kelly. Apparently Kelly said it couldn't be exchanged since it wasn't purchased at that location. I proceeded to tell the cashier that I have NEVER encountered an issue replacing Craftsman tools prior. She could care less and I could care less that this location will never get my business. read more

I would be remiss if I didn't sing the praises of the salespeople and management at this store. I was in the market for a new grill. I called to verify that they'd deliver for free as I don't have a big enough car and I can't do it alone. I walked in several days later and when I told them what I needed, they remembered my phone call. This afternoon the manager, Kelly, and his son brought my brand-new grill, already built, to my place, delivered it, showed me the basics, and could not have been nicer, more polite, friendly, and helpful. I can share that Home Depot wanted $80 to deliver the same outdoor grill, so this decision was a slam dunk. They're accommodating, respectful, and genuinely happy to be of service anytime in the future. Thank you all so much! I will be returning! read more

Well I'll have to say I love having a hardware store close to home. Unfortunately my experience mirrors that or Janet V.. Can't handle a simple return. I realize your store is a franchise but your staff training fails to take that into consideration. If I can't return an ACE brand, new in the package, tool at your location, even for a gift card, then I should just shop at another location, or Home Depot. I recently went to ACE to get a furnace filter for my home and found it without help because the layout of the shop is so intuitive. Why would anyone want to pay more to get lost and ignored in a Home Depot or Walmart? The ACE near my home is well staffed with knowledgeable employees that are always eager to help me with my home improvement projects. I am so glad that this Ace is at 100th and Wadsworth. It's a great location, easily accessible and the selection is great. The Ace staff is always eager to please. After going there many, many times, I cannot think of one thing to say other than I have had a good experience each and every time from the staff when I visited. There are some negative reviews about the staff in other postings here. Let me say that I'd rather be asked if I need help so I can politely say that I'd just like to browse. I have been in some of the Big Box hardware\builder supply stores where I literally had to chase down someone to assist. Which is worse? to be asked if you need anything attentively or having to put on your running shoes to get help? I'll take the former, thank you. The staff is Knowledgeable helpful when needed I don't have to run all over the place to find someone. I love the fact you can get a pint of paint for 5.00 and get that off the price of a gallon paint so really it's a free sample, not to mention ask them about (mistake paint) I have bought gallon paint for 5.00 used it to paint inside of garage. The store is kept clean and well organized, there are other ace stores closer, but it is the people there that I come back. Besides KC would not have it any other way. read more

I stopped by the Ace Hardware Store earlier this morning and got one of the worst customer service in a long time. I'm disappointed and will not be coming back for future purchases. I've been to this location a few times before, and never had a problem. The associate, Mel, was extremely rude, condescending, and very unhelpful. I asked Mel if the store does price matching, he asked me for the price that I saw on Sears.com. Then, as soon as I said the price of the product , he said "okay, see you later!" Basically, in other words, kicking me out of the store. I am in shock that this type of service is offered at your store. I understand that he may have had a bad day, but it definitely ruined my day as well and my whole experience at your store. I asked their advice on a simple plumbing part and I can say that the recommendation useful (not speculative general salesmanship). It's more expensive and has a much smaller selection of stuff but usually u can find an option that works and they are very nice and helpful. Store is small in comparison to Home Depot and Lowe's but that's just how all Ace hardwares are set up. I just can't express how good they are at helping and not being too helpful and annoying like best buy. Would give 5 stars if prices went down but I doubt they ever will. So this place is close to my house and I try and go here always first. Until today. I had to go to the bathroom really bad then I was going to buy the painting supplies I needed. Go to bathrooms they are locked walk to front to get the key. Girl says someone will come unlock it I wait nothing this was an emergency. Due to there policy on bathrooms I won't be able to go back in. Basically is a way to keep customers from using there bathrooms. read more

There is a good reason for close parking and stocked shelves; people know better than to shop Ace Hardware. I bought a Craftsman Heavy Duty Leaf Vacuum and within 15 minutes of use, it was broke. We brought it back to the store and told that it would take a few days for the Manager to be in the store to make a decision which turned out to be tough luck. We will never ever EVER shop Ace Hardware again. We learned the hard way. Went to Sears for assistance and was told that had we made the purchase at a Sears Store they would have replaced it immediately. We are now stuck driving around town to find a place to repair it. Shame on you Standley Shores Ace Hardware!! Never again! Finally after 4 hours found a place to repair the POS and even though it is under warranty (15 minutes usage!!), we had to pay $30.00 so far to repair it. I don't usually do reviews, but I do read them. However, I want to acknowledge a guy I met in this Ace Hardware Store in Westminster by King Soopers - Dan. It started off terrible! I came in and this gal with grey hair met me. Incredibly rude, treated me like a 5 year old then blew me off (Rhoda?). I was pissed. Then this older guy came up and asked me if I was ok. I unloaded on him and he just listened. Then he said "give me a chance to turn this around for you". He asked some questions, found me what I needed and was incredibly pleasant. I had my Pearl hat on, he knew it was drums and as we were talking music he showed me how to fix the wammy bar on my sons Strat by replacing the spring in the back (guitars have springs?). He said anything else and I jokingly said winning lottery numbers, a new car and fix my computer and make it run faster - he asked some questions and told me how to fix my computer (still waiting on the car and numbers). Where do you find these guys? Anyway, I went from never shopping there again to buying 100 bucks worth of stuff. Great experience, tell Dan Chris says hi. read more

I went to Ace Hardware at 100th and Wadsworth Pkwy. I have never been treated so poorly by a person in customer service as I was today. Let alone the owner KELLY. They are showing high reviews because he has his family and friends write them in. Who also work and are paid by Kelly. I went into the store with a return I had the receipt and the product in it's original package unopened. Kelly said the product was used. Which it 100% was not. I had actually brought my used one in with me and the new one I wanted to return that I purchased the day before at his store. There was a total difference between the new one and the old one I brought into his store. He accused me of lying. He would not return my product or work with me in any form. I have never been so offended. My feelings were so hurt...I was in tears with the way Kelly spoke to me. That he would accuse me of lying. I left the product and receipt at his store and walked out. Kelly himself would never allow himself to be treated the way he treated me. I can not even express in words on how hurt I am by his actions. I spoke to this at our neighborhood association meeting. Many other people had mentioned many issues with this store location as well. Another story was from a man. He went to return a product he paid cash for for a like item in a different size. Kelly's daughter was working and she would not exchange it. It's sad as a business owner myself that there are people in business who think it is okay to treat a customer that way. When it is us who pay his bills. That's okay...Karma will take care of this. He will be out of business...just a matter of time. read more
