I headed straight for the tool section, where Jude helped me track down the exact drill bits I needed. Both Jude and Nathan were excellent--helpful, patient, and friendly. The product selection is solid, but what really stood out is the level of customer service. It's rare these days to find retail staff who go above and beyond, and these two certainly did (even humoring me as I reminisced about my own time working in retail). As a funny side note, I even got the chance to chase after a customer and his dog after he accidentally left a dog bone behind at the counter. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough to return it--maybe he'll return for his purchase! All in all, great selection, great service, and a team that makes shopping here a genuinely positive experience.

And if you live in south Boulder (I don't) there is a real convenience factor here. But sometimes you need alternative choices on merchandise, or quick in and out convenience if you are in this shopping center for some of their local treasures like Sweet Cow or Lucky's or Neptune or Kim & Jakes or Pharmaca and you think of something else and this store will save you a separate trip. I saw something on their outdoor display area when I was leaving Lucky's and went in to check it out. It was what I had thought about to solve a yard problem, it was on sale and worked out well. The owner was there, he's had the store for about 10 years he said and I thought it was greatly improved since it's days in the 80s and 90s as Rad Hardware.

These guys have made a customer for life! I bought a very expensive pellet grill/smoker from them…read moreback in Dec '22 and had a lot of problems with flare-ups. Anytime the grill went over 350, if there was any grease it would light on fire, which made it pretty useless as a grill. I worked with the manufacturer for months on this issue and they ended up being mostly unhelpful. I had resigned myself to the fact that I had an expensive piece of equipment that was defective and only going to perform 50% of the function it was intended for. It never occurred to me that Ace would be willing to replace the grill for me after 6 months. Fortunately it did occur to my wife and she asked them the last time we were in. The wonderful person working the grill section, June, said she didn't know for sure, but she took my information down and said she'd have someone call me back. I pretty much put it out of mind and didn't expect a callback but the next day Veronda, the department manager, called me and apologized for the experience and said they would be happy to replace the grill! I just had to bring in the old one. STILL not wanting to get my hopes up I loaded the grill into my truck the next day and took it to Ace. David helped me pick out my new grill, process the return, pay the difference, and to top it all off...setup the FREE build and Delivery for my new grill. He and a few of the great team over at Ace helped me get the old grill off my truck, I drove away, and I had a beautiful, AND WORKING, grill sitting on my deck in two days. This level of customer service has exceeded all my expectations and has restored my faith in hardware stores. Corny but absolutely true. Thank you Ace!! I am going to eat my amazing smoked burgers now.

I have never been out to the Erie Store of Lowe's. I rarely find needs of big box stores for…read morehardware needs though when I do, Lowe's has always been my favorite. Since the Lowe's I used for decades was closed during the pandemic and never reopened , the company seems to have used the opportunity to retain Boulder County shoppers but locate a new much larger version in a newly developing area of housing. We needed to replace some garden mini fencing to contain our native low water plants from last year that were flopping into the public sidewalk which ended up getting trampled by pedestrian and canine adventures who the could not resist stepping into the gardens and trampling even more plants. We found exactly what we were looking for, at a good price too. We may even go back for more to replace the original section we put in decades ago with a less sturdy version from the old Lowe's nearer to Boulder. It was a nice drive out to this store and even though we only used the garden center we would consider the other departments when similar reasons to leave Boulder aria again. Staff were immediately available to help and the ample parking lot was refreshing.

I walked from the front to the back, from garden shop to paint department. Nobody. At one point I started calling "hello, anybody here", just to be weird. Nope, not even crickets. Tried the front desk and the poor lady stuck there said that everybody was at lunch but will be "right back". I am not making this up but I can see how you would think I am. Finally found a guy who showed me where it was, checked my own self out and was on my way half an hour later. Just to make it worse, the spray nozzle was broken off so I will need to make another trip to return it.
