I'm a former contractor, moved to Denver area in retirement. i still manage to find a lot of…read more projects to do, and usually boulder Lumber is my first stop. i love specialty places, and nowadays, what with the home Depots and Lowes plants crabbing the act, dedicated lumber yards with great hardware--nails and screws sold by the bag in bulk, per weight--is a real blessing. i had found the help a bit uneven, but usually quite good and most comfortable in dealing with knowledgeable builders and tradesmen--which may be offputting to some. They carry portable power tools, glues, and stains, that sort of thing, and standard building fir as well as interesting dimensions of woods like redwood and hickory. For me, this place is a comfortable, old-fashioned oasis with quality woods and service. Keep it up, men!

I love Extras Building Materials for doors, and hinges. I have been coming here for years because I…read morehave been renovating my house. The doors are very reasonable and you can get pre-hung or just doors. Today (12/24/19), I bought a hollow interior door for my basement bathroom and it was $15 + tax!! How can you beat that price??? It was a 30" primed door that I painted white and I would have to drill the hole for the doorknob and route the side out for the hinges, but that's not a big deal. The more common door widths already have the doorknob holes and hinges pre-drilled. The staff here is so nice and always so helpful. One time, I came needing cabinet pulls for my kitchen cabinets. I wasn't sure which length I had so the manager let me take 1 of each length home and said she'd see me tomorrow. Like who does that?? Of course, I came back the next day and bought the amount I needed in the correct length. Extras also sells tile, laminate flooring, windows, bathtubs, toilets, but unfortunately, I don't need those items. This is definitely the best kept DIY secret in Denver!!

Great for one off windows, doors, any kind of wood trim. They also have sets and one offs for kitchen/bath cabinets and some flooring.
