Our air conditioner went out during Easter weekend and AC Express saved the day. It's worth noting it was a hot weekend and we didn't have many options. We called them on Saturday morning and they promptly arrived about 2 hours later. I was given two options with respect to the approach on the Heat Pump issue. Because this was a hefty repair and I wanted to give it some thought, I informed them I need to think about it before making a final decision. They were super accommodating and understood it was a difficult choice. After two hours of doing some research and getting a second opinion from a different company (who confirmed everything AC Express said verbatim), I called them back and they installed a new heat pump on Easter Sunday at 8am. Five years later and I've found yet another reason I'll never be using this company again. The reason I had called them out for the service I needed on my heater for my original review was that they'd replaced one of two old failing HVAC units for me, which I thought they had done a good job of (up until last weekend). I was doing some work on the electrical panel that happens to contain the circuit for the unit AC Express installed for me. Out of curiosity, I looked at the tag on the unit they installed to see how much overhead I had on the circuit, and found out it has a maximum overcurrent protection rating of 30 A, but when AC Express installed it they left it on the old 40 A circuit the previous unit was running on. Note, this isn't the maximum power draw of the unit; 30 A is the manufacturer stated load at which the breaker feeding the system should cut off power in order to make sure that if has gone wrong with the wiring inside the unit, it doesn't draw so much power that it catches fire. I was already working on that panel, so swapping out the 40 A breakers for a set of 30s was not too far out of my way, but I was pretty angry to learn that when I paid AC Express thousands of dollars to install this unit, they failed to make sure the circuit they put it on was properly sized for the safe operation of the system. read more

Found out that their staff deceived me about whether my A/C system was still under warranty. My system was failing, and I was in a rush, BUT I knew it hadn't been that long. I explicitly asked since they'd sold me the failed system. I wrote down the name of the guy who said it was not under warranty. It WAS under warranty, but instead of helping me claim on it, they sold me an *entirely new system* for thousands of dollars. I only discovered this when I came across the old paperwork. When I approached them about the problem I got a distinctive "that wasn't our fault" vibe rather than a "let's fix this" attitude. So I called for a simple AC condensation line clog. All it needed was as imple air pressure blow out. Instead, they insisted they needed to cut the whole line and clean the entire coil. Needless to say, this was not needed and another company did the simple unclog job for way cheaper than this company. They just want to run up the bill. read more

Well, it started out good but... They put in a brand new system about 3-4 years ago and we've had problems ever since. I've had to call other a/c companies because they stopped returning our calls, and I called many many times. One time in particular, the last time they sent someone out, the word "bypass" was used when fixing the main board. This morning I have no heat just like last year. These guys are not reliable and I would've been better off having someone else replace my system. read more

Since AC Express "fixed" my heating and cooling system, it will intermittently just stop working during the hottest and coldest parts of the year. It's currently 52° inside my house with the thermostat set to 65° and the heater just won't kick on. This has happened many times since AC Express came to work on my system. Before they came to look at my AC, the circuit breaker was not tripping. After they left, the external unit (condenser) now trips the circuit breaker. And of course the tech gave me an estimate that recommended replacing the entire condenser unit and all the refrigerant, rather than just replacing the compressor and topping off the refrigerant. Also, the estimate is not properly itemized to show the cost of parts and labor, which is of course to hide the inflation of the parts cost. And the icing on the cake, the tech didn't replace the screws on the access panel so i had to hunt around to find them, and with the unit in the attic he just left the access panel off, and i also heard him rip some duct tape off. These guys have an amazing response time, they were the most reasonably priced of all the people we talked to, and they fixed the issue REALLY quickly. This is Texas, and having an AC working in the summer is no joke. So thankful they were available same day to come out and give us an estimate, and next day (mostly because we were deciding who we wanted to go with) to come fix everything. They were helped us install a programmable thermostat that we had lying around but were too nervous to put in ourselves. My AC went out during the hottest day of July and you can imagine in Texas you cannot be without AC for more than 30 mins. I called AC Express and Erick came out to look at my unit. He was very informative on what my unit needed and so honest with everything. He went out of his way to stay late to make sure I had AC for me and my 2 pets Pixi and Salem. My unit was up and running that same night and I was able to sleep comfortable. AC Express came to my home on Saturday evening to perform an AC Maintenance Check up after I had used another AC company from Round Rock and paid them Mucho Money only to have my AC unit over flow to continue dripping. When Hubert showed up from AC Express and flushed the system and did his maintenance exam I was shocked to find out there would be no charge. He must have worked on my unit for an 1.5 hours and no charge. This was A-1 service and I signed up for their three year plan Maintenance Plan where they come out twice a year. UPDATE 9/13/2016 I knew it was to good to be true, had AC Express come out Friday 09/09/2016 they quotes us a fee which we accepted and said they would be out first thing :am on Tuesday morning and they still have not showed up. Also after speaking with Chad one owner he quoted me a phone fee which was about $400.00 cheaper than owner Michael we agreed to a fee and no one showed up. No phone call except for me calling to find out why the technician has not shown up and why no phone call. No good business, we'll see if they show up today if not I certainly would not recommend this company to anyone It really sucks because the first visit was a pleasant experience....... very unprofessional company in my eyes. 9/17/2016 update Wow the company sent a letter apologizing for the service we did not get and for how we were treated. They also gave us a check back for our groupon price and then something huge happened. They offered 1 year worth of services on labor and parts for our current ac unit for free. I never ever expected anything and something as generous as that . I am very impressed with the amazing follow up they gave us and are serious about their business. I've been a customer since 2012 and they have been great. They came in with a VERY affordable bid in respect the the big names in Austin who also bid. The install went perfectly. Within minutes after they left the other AC was not cooling, called them as I thought they might have caused the problem when installing the new compressor. They were here in 10 minutes. The problem turned out to be a plugged drain line .. having nothing to do with their install of the other unit. I offered to pay for the repair and they refused. I've had them out a few times since then and they have been very professional. I will continue to sing their praise. Freddy came by today to do a no charge inspection and gave me a few suggestions .. none of which required a repair. Great company with great people!! read more

We just had AC express come out today. The secondary AC drain was dripping quite a bit, all down the side of our house. AC express came out and blew out both drains and fixed the issue... FOR FREE! We did buy a new AC unit from them in April, they were reasonably priced then and had great service but it's pretty rare for a company to make a house call to fix something for no charge. read more

I will always be a customer of AC Express for as long as they are in business and as long as I own my house. I purchased a H/AC system from Acorn Electrical back in 2011 and AC Express bought Acorn after the owner retired this year. I was not aware of this so when I called the number I had for Acorn, AC Express answered my call. The man who took the call took 5 minutes to listen about my problem with the heating system and he advised me how to self-service the system myself and save paying for a service call. As I discovered after 20 minutes, I was not very good at fixing the problem so I called them back and he said he would send a service tech out to the house. They arrived on time, took 15 minutes checking my system, fixing what I screwed and put everything back together. When I asked about the bill for the service visit they said it was a free maintenance inspection since I'm a customer. That really impressed me because I would have gladly paid $$$ for the service call and they could have easily persuaded me into paying for unnecessary work. This is the integrity we need for all service companies and I hope all HVAC companies will emulate AC Express when it comes to customer service. read more

They showed up at the scheduled time and called me to let me know they were on the way. luckily the board was still under warranty and the labor cost were very reasonable. AC Express finally arrived at our home after cancelling three times prior to this visit. The technician showed up and we told him what the issues were and showed him where the attic was. He said he would come down and talk to us once he had checked over our system and checked the air flow in the master bedroom. I looked up and observed the attic light go out and went to sit in the living room, expecting him to come down and talk to my husband and myself. I waited a good five minutes and then started up the stairs to see what was taking him so long. When I got to the top of the stairs, I heard a drawer in the master bedroom open(or shut) and I walked into our room to see the technician going through my husband's night stand drawer. When I asked him what exactly he was looking for, he apologized and said he 'didn't know why' he was going through our things. He was instructed to empty out his pockets and tool bag, and although we didn't find anything of ours on him, since when is it the job of an AC technician to go through personal items in a customer's home?!! He was then escorted out of our home. I asked my husband for the phone number of the company and he dialed it for me and spoke to "Michael" and said "my wife would like to talk to you". I asked him for his name and title at the company, to which he responded that he is the owner. I explained to him what had happened with one of his employees and he said "ok". When I asked him if that was ALL he had to say, he said 'well, I just got off the phone with our technician and to be honest, I can see both sides'. To which I replied "Since when are there two sides to someone going through our personal things without our knowledge?" He offered to come over and talk to me about this situation, but that still has not happened, and it has been two weeks since this incident. I asked Michael if he did background checks on his employees and whether or not they are bonded. He assured me that they do background checks on ALL of their employees, not that I believe much 'michael' has to say now or in the future. My husband and I run our own company, and if we treated customers like we've been treated by this company, we would be out of business. This is no way to run a business. We will never use this company again, and we will continue to let others know about our experience with this company. read more

FRUSTRATING! I called on a Thursday afternoon with a non-working AC and their first available was Monday am 8-10. I was OK with that. Monday at 11, I called their office for a timing update since I had not heard from them. They said the technician was running behind, but should be at my house around Noon. At Noon, I called the office for another update. I was told the tech was still at his FIRST appointment because it took a lot longer than expected and he was still there trying to get their AC in working order. He would be at my house around 1:15. He came at about 2. He told me I was his 6th service call. That just ticked me off. With a little honesty and customer service, I could have managed my time off of work much better. And I might not have reached out to a competitor who is beating their price for every piece of work they quoted me. read more

On April 7, 2015, at my home in Round Rock, TX (Chandler Creek): I had an AC/heat pump unit installed by this company because we had a pleasant experience with Autumn Heating and Cooling. AC Express bought the aforementioned company and I figured this was going to be another enjoyable experience. Approximately one hour after installation, the unit leaked and flooded the ceiling of my garage. This was due to an improperly secured caliper... thing (I don't do this for a living). After several (many, an abundant amount) of calls to their office, AC Express attempted to rectify the situation with their hired handy man, but the repair failed. They (AC Express) wanted us to call a contractor and get a quote. If I'm doing all that, I'm going to sue. So, after many more calls, we're supposed to be getting cut a check. Alison Powell is the "manager." Hubert is the "lead technician." Rubin (spelling? it sounds like the sandwich) was Hubert's helper. Ozwaldo is their hired handyman. Horrible Customer communication. 2 times they came out and 2 times there was no communication to tell me they would be late by several hours. Not everyone has someone home all day to wait. A simple call would be amazing. If I missed my appointment they would have left. When I called 2 hours (4 pm) after the appointment time (12-2 pm) the phone told me Memory Full. The techs were great but I will never use them again because of the office. read more

Not sure if they just changed their name or its completely new ownership from when they were Autumn Heating and Air, but my last couple of experiences with them were sub-par at best. They installed both systems new 5 years ago and have come out for regular checks the first few years. However, after the Rheem labor warranty ended, so did their great customer support. This week, they missed their first appointment so I waited 24 hours (with no AC) for them to come out. They came out, diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate. $1,110 to replace an A-coil that is under warranty. Seemed high so I called around. Average estimate from 3 other companies... $730, all within $20 of each other. I find that very very odd... $400 price difference... from the company that I gave over $10,000 of my business to when I installed them. Had they just been fair at the time of diagnosis, they'd be replacing the coil right now. read more

I have spent thousands of dollars on equipment with AC Express. A few weeks ago, they called me to schedule a maintenance appt. No one showed up in the 2 hour window. I waited another 2 hours. Still no one. I called the company and they said someone would call me in the morning. No one called. I called back and was given attitude by the man who answered the phone. I then spoke to someone else. While he was somewhat more genial, my problem hasn't been solved. I asked to speak to the owner. He is apparently out of the country for several weeks. AWESOME! System went down during one of hottest Texas days. Company in RR used for 16 yrs could not send anyone and would never have installed same day.. AC Express had someone out by 10 am who stated system needed replacement, no surprise as it was 16 yrs old. By 1 pm, Jesus and Noe were here removing old system from 120+ degree attic. They worked till 5 pm in horrific heat, cleaned up and were simply great as was the price. Best service, price and service quality ever! This business was formerly known as Autumn air and ac. We hired them 2 years ago based on a friends recommendation to replace our ac unit. They did a great job for a fair price. When we had ac problems this summer, we called them and found out they were no longer Autumn, they had been purchased and were now ac express. We asked them to come out, hoping that the work needed was still under warranty. That is when the nightmare began. Long story short, the company we once knew was gone, replaced by a group of underhanded, dishonest and incompetent jokers. It took 6 visits and legal threats before the work was completed, and even then the only reason I did not pursue it was to get them out of my house. A few days ago, when the current cold weather arrived, I turned on my heater and it did not work. Since nothing was wrong with our heater when we last used it earlier this year, I assumed ac express was the culprit, since no one else had been up there. I called them and they sent out a tech. He was in the attic for 10 minutes, and came down and quoted me $965 to fix the heater. I told him I needed a second opinion. Then he said he had to go back in the attic to replace a cover or something. Looking back, I should have refused, my guess is he was just covering his tracks. After he left, not 20 minutes later, ac express called me back and said they would be willing to do the work for $300 less than I was quoted. This was a giant red flag to me- why not quote me the correct price to begin with? Anyway, I strongly suggest anyone wanting to hire these guys reconsider. had them come and replaced units costing lots of $$$$$$ and promising us we will get rebates from the city for replacing them. we've tried to call allison and will not call back. now they are saying the city doesnt rebate businesses - this was not what was told to us when purchasing the units. problem 2 - not real quick on returning calls and responding to problem calls. not happy customer at this time read more
