Two words - Predatory Pricing. Do not call them. They charge $150 just to come to your place and then will give you an estimate for the work plus the cost of materials (The most minor repair will end up costing $300). Learnt my lesson and the next time I went with another electrician/plumber service (Appleton). They charge $29 flat fee for diagnosis and then give an estimate to fix the problem. Including everything (diagnosis and repair) I paid $120 which proved to be the right decision. Avoid this company. read more

I'm very torn about this review. I really really want to give a better rating for this business but there's one thing that's changed in the past year or so since I had them out last and I can't get beyond it. With regard to the work they did for me about 18 months ago, I couldn't have been more satisified....Rob talked to me, respected my interest in learning about how things worked in my home, checked things out in our new home, and was a true professional. Since then - this company has started charging customers $39 just to even come estimate a job. If you agree to use them, then that fee is rolled into and put towards the job itself. If not, you're charged $39 and get nothing in return. I've spoken to them several times in the past few days essentially begging to give them a decent sized job (wiring a brand new deck and pool area). I explained how satisfied I was with their previous work, and telling them that if they are even in the ballpark of another quote I've gotten (which I am not confident in) - that they would be awarded the work. No matter what, they still won't waive the trip fee. I certainly get the fact that they are out some costs if they travel out to locations to estimate work and aren't ultimately selected to perform the work. What this trip fee tells me is that they are not confident that they are price competitive and need to be sure that they're earning something each and every minute. From the other reviews on here - it seems like they do good work - but be forewarned - having them even come look at your job will cost you something. This trip fee gives them the power to determine whether they want to work with you or do your job and still earn something - hence if they didn't want my business, they'd just put forth some outrageous estimate and still earn $39. In every business I've ever been a part of - you have to invest in obtaining new business. Marketing, Advertising, Proposal Writing, Relationship Building etc....those costs are all built in to the revenue model. I'm not sure how giving up over $1000 over $39 makes any kind of business sense, but hey - it's how they believe they have to operate now and people should know that in advance. It flat out sucks that I now have to go find a new electrician. read more

We had Absolute Electric come out to our home to fix an outdoor, underground wire that we accidentally damaged. Absolute came out to our home at the time promised. Their work was very professional and they fixed our issue quickly and efficiently which is important since the quote they gave us for their work was an hourly rate. It was a meticulous job and they were done in just a bit over an hour. Very pleased with their work and very good rates, no hidden fees or nothing of the sort. Absolute Electric quoted $650 over the phone to replace one attic fan . I made an appointment for an onsite estimate at the a cost of $39 to avoid surprises when they show up to do the work. Two people showed up for the estimate on August 13th. One of them was clearly an apprentice or a new employee in training. They spent 10 minutes in the attic and went back to their van. After over 20 minutes in the van, both came back to give me a bill for 169 dollars. Apparently they charged me 130 dollars for troubleshooting in addition to the agreed $39 for the estimate. I never asked for troubleshooting or authorized it. One hundred and thirty dollars to go up in the attic to look at the fans is pretty steep. I have 5 fans in my attic; way too many for a typical Northern Virginia colonial built in 1995. The builder did not put electrical connections for one of the fans and the second one had cut wires to indicate that it should not be reconnected. Absolute Electric troubleshooters did not let me know about these; it looked like their $130 troubleshooting missed it. My best guess (and another electricians) is that the builder wanted only three fans in the attic. Absolute's two men team suggested replacing all five fans at $650 a piece with additional surcharge for each fan due to steep roof. My roof is not steep at all. Troubleshooting a fan to see whether it works does not require even a multi meter according to another electrician who gave me an estimate with reasonable terms for free. I talked to "The Service Manager" at Absolute to let him know that I just asked for a written estimate not for the troubleshooting; that did not go well. I had these people to install light fixtures twice before the August 13th appointment. I wont call them again. read more

They called multiple times throughout the process to communicate, and everyone's customer service skills were incredible. John and Ryan came the first day. Wow, do they really make people like this anymore? Very respectful, patient, and worked very hard. I contacted Absolute Electric on a Monday morning regarding an issue where several outlets were no longer functioning. The gentleman I spoke to was professional, offered to have someone come out that same day and explained their hourly rates up front without my even having to ask. I wasn't able to be available that day and scheduled an appointment for a two hour window two days later. Juan arrived during the scheduled appointment time, quickly diagnosed the source of the problem, explained in a clear manner to this electrical know-nothing what the issue was and what was required to correct it. An hour and fifteen minutes after he arrived, the job was done, the area was cleaned up and I had functioning outlets again. I've used Absolute Electric three times now for an attic fan, for recessed lighting, installation of an outlet in a bathroom and overhead bedroom lighting. I was happy all three jobs. Rob Smith, a serviceman, called ahead of time and showed up at the scheduled time as well completed all work in a timely manner. They are reasonable in price and do a great job. This is the second time I have used Absolute Electric and both times have been great! Last summer I used them to install 2 new ceiling fans in my spare bedrooms. This most recent time I used them to install a new ceiling fan on the middle level of my home and an attic fan. I was scheduled between 7-9am and Juan C and Ryan called 30 mins before and arrived at 7:15 am. After showing them where the work was to be done they went to work. They finished both installs, cleaned up and were on their way by 11am! I couldn't be more pleased. It wasn't even part of there job but they replaced the drywall they had to cut for the fan so that all I needed to do was some small patch work and repaint! I had them come for a tune up for my generator last week.It was working fine when the technician got here.It usually took an hour and cost $150. It took him 2 plus hrs. and cost $350 and now its not working and he couldn't fix it. So now another technician has to come out and try to fix it & I will be charged more.From reading other reviews this seems to happen often. They fixed everything for me! Buyer Beware! If they break it, you buy it! Damage caused by employees will not be resolved. Absolute Electric damaged my car while out on the job. When I called them to resolve the issue, the admitted fault and said that they would do the right thing. They asked me to get them a few quotes for the damage and that we would work together to find a solution. I got two quotes, both just a tad under $500. Once the owners saw that they had caused that much damage, they changed their view on the situation. After initially admitting fault, they said that they were not responsible for damage caused by their employees. Their modest prices are not worth the risk. Absolute Electric made me absolutely happy with the job. No problem whatsoever getting work scheduled several days out at a time that matched my work schedule and was best suited the job (fishing cable from a lower floor into my attic. Note: attics get hot in the summer, and early is better). Tim, the assigned electrician, called ahead to let me know he was on the way and was very get-right-to-the-job after a quick assessment. After a quick 90 minutes or so, he'd made the required drywall cuts and drilled the floor plates in multiple floors and pulled three sections of heavy-gauge coax up multiple floors for me in a wall filled with electrical outlets, switches, etc. Not a job for an amateur (like me). I'm extremely pleased with the work, and he even used drop cloths during the work and vacuumed up when he was complete. The work completely met my expectations, and I'll have no issue calling them again for future electrical projects at our home. Did I mention their hourly labor rate was extremely okay with my wallet? Make sure to mention Yelp, and then give them some rep here on the backside of the job. They're doing it right. read more

I had an electrical issue in the kitchen the morning after Christmas and was in complete panic mode as we were entertaining a house full of out-of-town guests. I turned to Yelp and found Absolute Electric. I really didn't expect to reach anyone so early the morning after a national holiday, but to my surprise Absolute Electric was eager to help. I was amazed with how thoughtful and professional the gentleman (I believe the owner) was on the phone listening to the issues I was facing and then working with me to troubleshoot them. I never felt rushed. He walked me through several options to deal with them sincerely wanting to avoid any cost or impact on our time over the holidays. I honestly thought my husband and I had tried everything, but after working with the gentleman on the phone we were able to find and fix the source of the problem. AE was great! Mike and his helper David arrived right as scheduled and spent time going over the plan/options to install four new recessed lights before jumping into the project. The goal was to maximize light in our eat-in kitchen/family room area creating a uniform look with the existing fixtures and recess lights. We had a great experience with Absolute Electric, particularly Rob. He came out twice to install circuits in the upstairs of our (old, 1940s) home and was so patient with the old house in what turned out to be a challenging job. Our house has old plaster and Rob did a great job of managing my expectations about plaster damage (it wasn't ANY damage at first, until the house started being super complicated with a built-up downstairs wall) and even recommended a company to get it fixed that was out and had it fixed within 1 day! I was impressed in several aspects of my interactions with this company. First, they are very responsive they came when they said they would and sadly this is all to rare when dealing with folks from the trades. I needed an estimate for an EVSE for my new BMW i3 electric car. The owner provided the estimate explained what his people would do then offered an estimate which was very fair from my research. One of our outlets made an odd noise and then when my wife used a different one (which we found out later was connected to the first outlet) a sharp, nasty burning smell started coming out of the wall. I looked for an emergency technician on a Sunday afternoon and Shawn quickly responded (I am still waiting to hear from other companies I contacted) to my call and was at our home in MD an hour later (even with heavy snow). He quickly identified the issue, fixed the wiring, and installed a new outlet. The price was fair given the context and he took the time to carefully explain exactly what was wrong and how he was resolving the problem at each step. He noticed some other, broader, but less urgent issues and unlike other technicians, was not pushy with making a sale. He just politely noted they could come back and do an estimate with the project done in pieces or as a whole as our budget allowed. I found this honesty and directness very refreshing. read more
