Kevin, Kelly, and Noah with Able Movers have completed two moves for me and real estate clients of mine, and they have been amazing! Their prices are super fair and they get the job done with no fuss and no hassle. In the first move, they came to the rescue after another moving company failed to show up. They were able to move a 2000 square-foot home with almost no notice in just a couple of hours. They were fast, ultra professional, and really well organized. Bonus: they could not be nicer or more friendly. In the second move, which they just completed for me personally, they transported a clawfoot tub to my home and moved a piano from the first floor to the second floor. These were both tough jobs. They did it quickly, professionally, and even a little bit under budget. I cannot recommend the company highly enough. If I could give them 10 stars instead of 5, I would. On 1/28/22 I hired Able Moving to do a 2 hour job 2 man crew to move 5 items, one of which was a china cabinet. Tebo, the lead mover didn't use the ratchet to tie down the cabinet properly, he stacked the chairs in front of the cabinet. They loaded the truck, I provided 2 ratchets and a toddler mattress to place in front of the cabinet to save the glass to the cabinet. Because the chairs were hampering the view of the placement of the mattress I unfortunately didn't see that he place the mattress on the bottom were the drawers are to the cabinet not the glass. Needless to say, the ratchet was not used properly to secure the cabinet, the mattress was useless to where it was placed and having the chairs directly in front of the glass instead of turning the cabinet around... all of the glass except for one panel broke. See picture below. Additionally, because I had a stand up piano, they wanted to charge me an extra $100. Mike Jackson, the owner would not provide a quote until I met Tebo. Note: I got the referral by Uhaul (moving labor) and didn't see anything about an extra charge for pianos. Nonetheless, transparency works better for me...After working for about 20 minutes, Tebo was on his phone for 45 minutes. Since I was on a time crunch I got annoyed. The other worker gave me his phone to talk to Mike about Tebo. When me and the other finished loading the truck Tebo said he was done and wasn't going to help me unload the truck. I contacted Kevin 6 weeks in advance to schedule a 3-man crew for a residential move. 5 days prior to the move I proactively called Kevin to ensure that everything was lined up and ready for our scheduled move, which he confirmed. Our move was to start at 9:00 a.m., by 9:15am I contacted Kevin to inquire on the ETA of the crew. I was then advised that he had some staffing issues and was running behind schedule with a no definitive timeframe as to when movers would arrive. At 11:00 am a crew finally arrived but it was a 2-man crew and not the 3 that I had scheduled nor was I ever informed that I would only get 2 people. 2 hours into the move a 3rd guy finally showed up which was fortunate as one of the two inital movers didn't have the strength to carry our couch out of the house. The crew was friendly, took general care with the handling of our items and ultimately saved our backs but they are not professional movers. They left handprints all over our freshly painted walls and handrails, reassembled our bed askew where the storage drawers below won't open without full reassembly, and took 8 hours to move a 1500sqft home (no appliances). My daughter arranged for Able Movers to move her from the room she has been renting in her college town to an apartment in Portland. She was quoted a price and given the a time window of 1-5pm on a Thursday. She only hired movers because she broke her arm and needed the help getting her very few belongings (a full size bed, one night stand, an Ikea desk, a chair and some boxes). On the day of the move, she was prepared well before the 1pm window started. The day went on, she contacted them after hearing nothing or getting and eta and when she finally did, she was told at 4pm that they had been stuck on the another job and it would be another 3-4 hours. Her landlord had set up showings of the room starting at 6:30pm given the timeframe with the movers. This led to some discomfort and my daughter then figured it would be somewhere between 7 and 8pm. At 8pm, she called again (the owner should have kept in communication with her, not vice versa) and was told they were still stuck on the other job and it would be a couple more hours at least. The movers eventually showed up at 10:30 pm. Her move was completed including the 40 minute drive time by 12:15pm. The 2 guys themselves were nice, but given that it was a cash job, that they left both copies of the receipt with her, broke a mirror without taking any money off, notifying the boss, etc., it's left me with the impression these 2 guys took this job after a previous job only because the boss told them it would be an easy move for a quick buck. She is young and just graduated from college. She did not know how to navigate movers and trusted the owner at his word. He did not meet expectations and I do not trust his business practices. I would steer clear, especially if this is the first moving company you are looking to use ever in your life. read more

I will never refer or use this company again. On the morning of the move, 8 minutes before they should have arrived, the driver called and said that they had a "sleepy head" and were going to be late. 2 Hours later, they arrived without masks. The white box truck had graffiti on it. They did not apologize for being so late. Very unprofessional. I asked to speak to a manager/owner to see what they could do for the inconvenience. The driver, Kevin, got his keys and said, "we just won't help you move." He thought that I was not able to pay the full amount of $250 to move 1 item, 5 miles away. He said, "find someone else. I'm sick of dealing with people like you." Customer service was terrible. I will NEVER use these movers again. read more

After I paid my deposit I received no confirmation or response. After calling 3 times the day I had paid the deposit for and getting no answer my roommates fiancé stepped in and called off his phone. They answered his call and when he asked if they were still coming they "weren't sure they'd make it" and 20 minutes later canceled all together without refunding the deposit. All in all a very stressful experience and waste of time. I'd suggest using another company, just to avoid the headache and hassle altogether. read more

Incapable movers... we initially gave specific directions for packing and properly placing a pinball machine. After requesting nothing be placed on the machine, they stacked many boxes of top of it. When we realized what had happened; we were given attitude for them to unpack and repack items. We were charged for two hours of repetitive labor. They then proceeded to have a misogynistic attitude acting as if we did not know what we were protecting. They proceeded to state, "The customer is not always right." "What would happen if every customer got what they wanted?" Their incompetence cost an over $1000 moving bill which they charged a deposit and did not credit toward the final bill. When we requested a refund of the deposit from the final bill they proceeded to state that the amount paid was not what was requested and we must have tipped them prior to services rendered. This is the biggest incompetence of business ownership and moving service. Do not use this group. Follow up: Damaged mattress due to them loading improperly into mattress protector and then sliding bare mattress on moving truck floor. Same issue with couch and chair. Pinball machine has a crease on frame due to weight initially placed on machine; after requesting them not to do so. read more

I wish I would have read the yelp reviews first. I rarely write bad reviews but these cretins deserve to be put out of business. I made a reservation with Kevin two weeks ago and gave a $150 deposit. I received several text message confirmations for our loading date of June 24, 2021 in the past two weeks. I even called and spoke with Kevin two days ago but it sounded like I woke him up at 9 am on a Tuesday. He assured me they would be at my house to load our moving trucks. On the day of the move (today) they did not show up and would not return calls, text messages or emails. We are supposed to drive to Idaho in two days. I have initiated a dispute with my bank for a refund. This is a product of government paying people to stay home. read more

Kevin & Jeff did a professional and quick job after they arrived. However, I wish they could be more punctual. Their boss told me they would be at my home around 1pm to 4pm, which was a big range of time in my opinon(didn't like it). They called me when they started heading my home.However, it took longer than I expected. They did call me to notify me that they were running late though. We needed a piano delivered to our home. This was by far the heaviest piece of furniture that I have ever attempted to relocate. Loved the Intel discount! These guys helped us move our 16 foot truck into our third floor apartment, and went into "beast mode" when the time came to haul our king size tempurpedic bed up the stairs. Unpacking our truck took a mere 1.5 hours with two people, when the jokers who packed the truck in the first place took more than double the time with three people! They were very careful with our stuff, caused no damage, and joked around with us and made it fun. The prices were absolutely reasonable. I have used these Able twice in the past and loved them. Recommended them quite a few times. My most recent move in October was a terrible experience. Many items were scratched or slightly damaged, but not enough to file a claim. My bed was reassembled incorrectly, with some screws dangling, some stripped, and some just missing. Someone walked away knowing this. Just one example of the lack of professionalism. The crew lacked conscientious leadership. When I was looking for a company to move our household, I looked online at consumer reviews and called a couple of companies based upon their positive reviews. I ended up calling Able Movers. Kevin, the owner, was very nice and came out to the house to write an estimate. I discussed with Kevin that I was choosing his company based upon his reviews and that I would always try and solve an issue with a company before writing a negative review. Kevin stated he appreciated that and his customer service was very important to him. After he gave me the estimate, I tried to book the moving date, which was 6 weeks out. I wanted to book 4 men and 2 trucks. There were snafu's with the booking, which was done for the wrong date, but we eventually got it worked out. Kevin assured me that there would be 4 men and 2 trucks there at 8:30 in the morning. On Monday Morning, 10 minutes before they were supposed to show up, I got a call from one of Kevin's employees stating that they were just leaving the shop and would be 40 minutes. He also stated that one of the employees was having transportation issues and we would only have 3 men and one truck. I immediately called Kevin and he did not answer his phone. I then called Kevin back a second time and he did not answer. I left a voicemail asking him to call me as soon as possible, I alerted him to the issues and mentioned I was stressed out over the issues and needed to discuss the issues with him. Kevin never called back. Not that day and not any day, even though he knew there were multiple issues with the move. He did however make phone calls to his employees throughout the day. When the movers arrived, they showed up in a Uhaul. I asked why they could not get a second truck, which I had ordered, especially since they were using a Uhaul. The lead person stated that two of the guys did not have licenses. He stated they would have to make 2 trips if necessary. I told him that I was not okay with paying for the extra drive time for two trips. The lead guy called Kevin and Kevin said I would have to pay for the drive time for a return trip. Kevin did not talk to me and again, did not return my call. I did notice that the guys were working very hard when they started and the loading went quick and smoothly for the most part. Two of the movers were so very cool, polite and super hard workers. I really appreciated them and they are the only reason I rated this move as high as I did. Without them, the experience would have been a 1 star event. I noticed one guy was being rough with some of the furniture and scratched up the wood floor in one room, and banged something into the wall in another room. In the middle of the loading, the 4th guy called and said he could make it after all. They told him to pick up a truck, then later told him to come without another truck. I told them I would not pay for a 4th guy if they only had one truck, so they ended up telling him to grab a truck after all (from Uhaul) and he did not show up until 11:45. We had to wait for 45 minutes for him after the first truck was loaded. When the fourth guy showed up, he seemed nice enough, but did not seem real experienced at moving other people. When the second truck was loaded, we all left at the same time. It took me 25 minutes and them 50 minutes. I asked if they got lost and they said no. When they unloaded the trucks, it went slower than the load and a couple of the guys were making inefficient trips. The 2 nice guys were still working hard. Walls and banisters got scratched up, which I know happens, however I was pretty upset that they put a runner on the stairs, but not in the entry way. The same guy that damaged the floor in the other house set the dryer down on the bamboo floors and slid it around on the floor, damaging multiple planks of bamboo. I asked for another runner which they provided. I mentioned the damaged floors. The lead guy offered no options to compensate. Another funny thing is that the lead guy needed my phone to call Kevin. I believe his died. I told him Kevin would not answer. Kevin did not. I then told him to text Kevin and tell him it was him, which he did. Kevin then accepted his call, so I know he was available. To see that my calls were being ignored, when I chose to spend over $1000 on his company shows the lack of customer service this company has. When the bill was settled, they did subtract $25 an hour for the time we had 2 trucks, due to the issues, however Kevin still did not contact me. Regardless of all of the issues, I tipped the guys 15%. I then waited a week and a half to see if Kevin was going to contact me to try and talk through the issues and maybe even offer to repair my floors. Kevin never called. I would never, ever use this company again or recommend them to anyone. This was a very disappointing experience, which I will be forever reminded of when I look at my bamboo floors. read more

These guys are the best of the best. We used them 2 years ago to move into our house from a uhaul truck. Since then they've been hired by my family to move my grandma and my parents. We just used them again to move from our house to an apartment. Since we have a 6 month old we decided to have them pack us too. They did an amazing job. They packed our entire house so quickly we had time to relax for my husband's birthday. Everything made it safe and sound. Their packing skills are awesome, but as movers go, I've never seen anything like it. They got our king size memory foam mattress out of the upstairs, which we didn't think would be possible in our 1920's house. They're friendly, honest, and pretty fun to have around while you're stressed out about moving. I left all of the decisions about how many people were needed to Kevin, I recommend doing this since he is the expert! I would never trust anyone else with our stuff! read more

Horrible experience. I suspect the positive reviews of this company are fake. It was like dealing with thugs. The guy who runs the place forgot he scheduled my move, then tried to get out of doing it the day before. When I explained that I had already made arrangements at my apartment complex and had to be out of my apartment the next day, he reluctantly agreed to do the move between 2:00 - 4:00 on the scheduled day. The guys didn't show up until 5:30. I had the moving bay scheduled for 2 - 4 and couldn't get it after it that. Consequently, there was nowhere to park the truck, and they had to move it 3 times during the move. When I called the office on the day of the move to find out where the guys were, the guy who runs the place told me they might not arrive until 6 or 7! He actually had them do another move before mine! When I told him that was unacceptable, he yelled and swore at me and threatened to cancel the move. I actually felt sorry for the guys when they arrived - they had already done 3 moves that day. However, my feelings of compassion wore off pretty fast after one of them tore the cover off of an upholstered chair and got grease marks all over it, and the other one used the bathroom in my new apartment without asking, then left piss on the floor.
