This is More than 2 guys and a truck. This is 2 guys w skills to pack and do an AMAZING job at it. We had a 15' truck scheduled w UHAUL but found out they only had 10' left. got a huge discount and worried we would need to make 2 trips but Randall and his guy were able to NICELY and PERFECTLY pack out 10' to the rim. My wife and I contacted Randall after several friends recommended August Movers based on their own recent experience. Randall kept in touch up until the big day and Dan and Amy showed up promptly, as promised, and got right to work on hauling our furniture and appliances and other bulky items out to the 26' truck we had rented. Both are very hard workers and I could hardly get them to stop long enough to take a short break and get a drink and something to eat! Amy is a super woman. She carried stuff that made my back ache just watching her. I have never seen any man work harder than she did that day. The way she and Dan strategically filled the truck was quite impressive, too. Not one thing was damaged and the extra care and thoughtfulness were greatly appreciated. Ok weirdest conversation ever. I had left a message about help to unload a U-haul truck. They Called back promptly BUT when I asked if they bring materials to protect wood floors he acted like he never heard or thought about investing some money to protect his customers home. He also said unless absolutely necessary they don't bring boxes in with a appliance dolly. So they aren't expensive when you consider hourly rate but considering they carry each box in boy are you going to get a huge bill later. Why In the world does this company risk customers homes and their own backs because they are to cheap to invest a few bucks into floor protection? I highly recommend the August Movers! In a nutshell they were professional, considerate, capable, skilled, friendly and efficient - and I thought their rates were very reasonable. We had the team come and move our couch to our garage and move our basement items to another room in preparation for some repairs. SO happy with this move! Our couch was large and heavy and I was concerned about how it could be removed without damaging the house and our porch. They have a 2-hour minimum so we had them help us clear some large items from our basement as well. Randall and Amy were extremely careful and thoughtful (e.g., they moved the inside items first to avoid going outside and dirtying our floors). They made sure everything was placed correctly and even didn't mind our overly friendly dog who wanted to "help." Their professional and calm demeanor put me at ease - they moved swiftly but I never felt we were being rushed. Overall a really excellent experience, and we would use them again for sure! read more

I flew to Virginia to meet up with my son, who had already loaded up a 26' rental truck. We then started our long trek to Hillsboro, Oregon. We broke down a couple of times so we were running behind schedule and extremely exhausted. I called August Movers from Rock Springs Wyoming and set up a time for them to meet us the next day in Hillsboro. The next day at the scheduled time, the workers showed up and were started unloading immediately. It had started to rain and they did everything they could to protect my son's belongings. They finished the truck in about 1.5 hours. They worked hard, were very pleasant, and friendly. I paid the workers the 2 hour minimum but they continued to offer to help since they emptied the truck so quick. I informed them that we were good and thanked them for their help and they subsequently left. About 20 minutes later, I went out to the rental truck to clean it up, when I noticed they had swept out the truck and folded all the blankets. This was after they had already been paid. We were extremely pleased with their service and I highly recommend them! read more

I've now used August Movers for a third time, this past weekend and they exceeded themselves once more. Randall, Amy and the rest of the crew (we used four movers) were prompt, professional, careful, very reasonably priced, FAST, and just great! We moved a four-bedroom house with a 24' U-Haul, and they managed to fully load the truck, unload it *and* go back for a smaller, second load, in UNDER SIX HOURS! Randall is a "load whisperer," a wizard, or something. I watched the crew carry stuff out of the house, and every time I looked in the truck, there was still room. They were efficient, friendly (even joking with my 20-month old son), and careful with everything. Amy is a sweetheart, supportive, and STRONG. They made the move easy, happily working with our requests when we wanted some things put different places, and did just a phenomenal job. They made what should have been a stressful (and could have been a nightmare) day as much a pleasure as it could possibly have been. If you are doing a local move, call August Movers. End of story. I could write a very long review full of praises for Amy and Randall, but to get my point across quickly, I will boil it down to my top three reasons to hire them. 1- These are experienced movers. They know what they're doing and how to protect your stuff. Amy and Randall aren't college students looking for a summer job--They're legit. Not to mention they seem to have an endless amount of energy and strength and were still working hard and quickly past the 5th hour (!) of moving me across town. 2- Their rates are very reasonable. Even though I had to rent/drive my own truck, I ended up saving a couple of hundred dollars than what I would have spent at some of the other moving companies I looked at. 3- They're nice, Portland-y people. I don't often give 5 stars so when I do, you can bet it was for superior service or excellent value. In the case of August Movers, it was both. I had originally planned on using another moving company but was having problems reaching them. By the time I finally heard about Randall and Amy I was worried that they would be completely booked. Fortunately Randall called me back the same day and we were able to schedule the move on the exact date I was hoping for. We discussed the number of hours needed, the price, what they provide, etc. Very, very informative. The day before the move, I got a text reminding me they were coming. They arrived right on time and after a quick tour and explanation of what was going into the POD, they took a moment to cuddle up with my kitty and then immediately went to work. I have always been proud of being a strong woman but watching Amy work...well, my jaw was on the ground several times. She took charge of moving almost everything from the house, down 3 steps, across the yard and to the POD while Randall worked his Tetris magic packing it as full as possible. It was quite shocking how much we were able to get inside the thing. They had that entire POD packed in exactly 3 hours! I am so thankful I wasn't able to reach the original movers I was going to use and discovered August Movers instead. I will definitely be calling them back when I have to unload that POD. read more

I needed two pianos moved--one from my sister's house to mine across Portland, and the other one just into my garage. After a tiny bit of phone tag, I found that it was much easier to reach Randall by text. Once we began texting, things moved quickly. They were able to fit me in with about two days' notice. They arrived right on time and quickly did exactly the job they said they'd do. I'm absolutely amazed by their physical strength--Randall and Amy are ridiculously strong! They made quick work of the whole job, and it could not have gone smoother. The only disadvantage was having to get a UHaul truck myself since they don't have a truck, but I was happy to do that since I'm sure it's what helps keep the costs down. Disclaimer: We hired August Movers a few years ago. They may have new staff at this point, they may not. One man's name was Randall, who was great to work with. The other guy was the hasty one, and I don't remember his name. Sometimes Randall had to correct/over-direct the other guy when loading/unloading the truck. Maybe he was new? They were definitely moving along fast (to not milk the hourly rate), which I appreciated. Too many moving companies with an hourly rate will drag their feet and move too slowly. But I think they were a bit too hasty: they dented our dining table. Probably the piece of furniture we are most sad about damaging. It's a pretty big gouge right on the table top. They acknowledged it and apologized, but didn't offer any sort of compensation. They also scratched the floors of our new house when moving the couch in. Granted, it was very heavy and bulky. We only noticed this after they left. I just felt that we should have had a better experience with a 5-star rated company. I'm tempted to leave 1 star, because that more accurately represents our experience due to the unrepairable dent on our table and deep scratches on the floor. However, I'd hate to damage the reputation of a local business by a one-off experience. read more

Randall and Amy were a-mazing! They made our entire move possible. We had two relo-cubes for our move and were very much behind schedule when they arrived. In short time they swooped in and saved the day. Both cubes were packed flawlessly and with great care. We soon ran out of room and had to order a third cube, but they couldn't deliver until the next day (when we were already going to be gone). Randall and Amy came back the next day and took care of packing the entire third pod on their own, and even removed the kayak rack from the wall for me. We put a lot of trust in them to take care of things while we were already a day's drive away and they did not disappoint. The third cube arrived perfectly packed and they had even disassembled furniture in such a way that it was easy to find the hardware, etc. Talk about life savers! They truly care about what they do, and have a fantastic helpful attitude. This move was highly stressful for us, and they provided us with the good cheer and muscle that helped us get through. Last month we moved from New Hampshire to Vancouver, WA. We rented a 26' Penske truck and drove ourselves across the country. We decided to hire movers to help us unload the truck on this end; to minimize the time we disrupted our neighbors, and because we knew we'd be exhausted from the journey. They showed up on time, immediately introduced themselves, and got to work. The entire truck was unloaded in less than two hours. AND they arranged our furniture so we wouldn't have to move it again. Their attention to detail was impeccable... not a single ding in the walls despite carrying large furniture up a narrow staircase to the second floor bedrooms. (Had we done it ourselves, there would have been many dings, I'm sure.) Honestly, they were some of the nicest people I've ever met and their prices were beyond reasonable.
