I had to move from a third floor walk up apartment into a house and contacted Priestley & Sons. They responded quickly and were able to send someone out to give me an estimate. We went ahead and scheduled our move with a 3 man team. The truck showed up right on time on moving day and the guys went straight to business. They wrapped all the furniture and loaded everything down and into the truck at an astonishing speed, even our 180 lb elliptical. Unloading the truck went just as fast. They finished the job in less time than estimated, and all of our things were delivered undamaged. On top of all that, all 3 guys were friendly and professional. Back in May 2023, I called Priestley and Son's moving and storage for an estimate on a June move. It was a bit high for my budget. These guys went over and beyond to make it affordable and easy for me. They gave me (used but really good) boxes, lots of packing paper and tape, Free of charge. Yes, I had to pack 98% of the stuff myself, but I was already 3/4 of the way done. The guys showed up on time, had a great work ethic, had me moved in a few short hours, nothing broken or missing. BEST MOVERS - hands down. For a variety of reasons, I've moved four times within Portland this year. Four different sets of movers (all highly rated here on YELP) and you'll notice, no repeats. We were boxed (pretty much) and organized ( a bit) and ready for the movers. Zack and Phillip arrived on time.. took a quick tour of the house and wasted no time getting started. They were fast and efficient. We watched them wrap a couch in a minute... they did not talk.. just moved more like a well rehearsed ballet. A coworker of my wife's recommended this company, and I'm glad she did. They were courteous, friendly, and professional - and did a lot of hard work, considering we were downsizing from a townhouse to a 2-BR apartment. Marty and John showed up exactly on time, and immediately got to work after a quick tour. We almost felt guilty having them do all the hard work, but then again, that's why we hired pros! It took about four hours to load the truck, and they accommodated our special request (moving a refrigerator we didn't need to my parents' house) without hesitation, even moving their old one out of the house and into the garage, and hooking up the new one. Then it was on to the new apartment, where they consulted with us about where we wanted everything, and then proceeded to haul all our stuff up three flights of stairs without once complaining. They even set up the beds without being asked. We bought them pizza, and the fifteen minutes they spent eating were taken off the overall bill. I highly recommend these guys for your next move. We were quoted a rate of $117 an hour with a 5-hour minimum, a price I feel is fair - especially given those three flights of stairs I mentioned. Every single move we've had has come in under budget. Damage and loss. That's all I can say about Priestley and Sons. You will lose things that you cherish, and things that you love will be damaged. For example, damaged leather dining room chairs due to taping, and by box of childhood memories never delivered. Okay, right off, I didn't use them to move me, but the seller of my house did. I understand their move went very well. What impressed me enough to write this review is how they handled some damage done during the move. In the process of moving a water pipe was broken with the obvious results. When we showed up to take possession later that day, the pipe was fixed, the restoration company was already underway drying out the carpeting and walls. There was never any concern or excuse made. Chris said he would make it as it was and it would not cost us anything including, if necessary helping us with our move. The house is back to the way it was. I was looking into companies to hire to help with my move from a 1 bedroom apartment into a newly purchased condo/townhome. I had researched a handful of companies, and was getting ready to settle on one in particular when I came across this company being reviewed on Yelp. I scrolled down to read the different comments, and lo and behold, one of my friends had used them back in May. She left a glowing review, so I decided to call them. Man, am I glad I did. First, their customer service representative on the phone was great to deal with, and I was impressed with their charge structure. So many other companies charge for driving time to and from your place, and many charge for a flight of stairs. Priestley & Sons charged for neither. Second, I knew I was going to like them when they were right on time for my move. The two men pulled up in a big red moving truck, which was incredibly clean. Scott and Tony were the guys who then got out and made the magic happen. They were incredibly nice, efficient, and professional, and had the entire move done in less than 2 hours. Nothing broken, everything wrapped and carefully stored on their truck, and delivered with no worrying on my part (I wanted only my furniture moved, my friends and I took care of all my boxes and loose items). There was only a 1 hour minimum move requirement, whereas most companies had a 2, 3, or 4 hour minimum. My final bill was only prorated for the last 45 minutes, so I decided to leave a larger than usual tip as I was really impressed with the move. I needed to move ASAP. I only had two days. I called other places with very high ratings. I usually ended up with leaving a message. I was referred by my landlord to Priestley & Sons. I called them and I was able to talk to a person. He put me on their schedule right away. Robert and Ed came to my Apt on time (even little early). They were fast and gentle. Very efficient and very professional. I've used some movers in the past that were slow, and remember: time=money. They charges from the time they arrive to time they are done which is awesome. I called Priestley and Sons moving on a recommendation by a coworker. When I called, I was told that the company was required by state law to work a minimum of 5 hours for any job starting on a weekend. That is a lie. While moving companies are indeed regulated by state law, there is absolutely no regulation imposed by the state that requires a five hour minimum. This is a company policy, and they don't want to admit that to potential customers, so they lied. Unfortunately for them, I'm a paralegal, capable of reading the laws and regulations, and I caught them out on it. I figured, if they're willing to lie about this, what else are they going to lie about? I don't have time to deal with dishonest companies, and I will not tolerate it. I have no idea whether they're actually good at moving furniture or not because I wouldn't hire them after that. Neither should you. read more

Very friendly, moved stuff quickly, followed me to drop-off, unloaded quickly; total about 2 hrs. 2)Loaded up a 2BD house into a PODS container in 1 hour, including W/D /* If u can afford it, don't use PODS for moving */ They tell u how much they charge, then they provide the service It's that simple. I used Priestly & Sons to move my piano from my condo to my mom's house. They were very good about working with my time schedule and did their best to get it moved on the day that I needed it done. They arrived on time, worked quickly and effectively, and were very friendly. They had to move the piano down 2 flights of stairs from the 3rd floor of my condo and I didn't have any damage to my piano or walls. They only had to move the piano about 1 mile away, but they completed the job in about half hour--much faster than I had expected!
