Years later, my experience with this company still has me angry. They took advantage of a situation and a person with a disability, did an appalling lack of proper packing including a sledge hammer floating in a box with a pizza stone and several thousand dollars of audio equipment scratched and on some cases broken. We had an unexpected - and very short - notice of a large furniture delivery to a new home. This also meant that some of the existing (large) furniture need to be removed and/or moved to other locations within the house- which was 2 stories with lots of stairs/stairwells to navigate. The house was ALSO located in Govt. Camp. Jon and his guys at Willamette Express really saved the day for us. His 2 guys worked non-stop once they arrived on site, were really careful with everything and even stayed a little later than we had initially given them timeframe-wise to help us finish the work we were trying to get done that day. ***Update*** Spencer of Willamette Express replied to my review 5 months after my move. He states that I would have been compensated for my wasted time. This is the same thing he promised after a phone call with him right after my move, but never followed through. He also states that more time and consideration is needed if you have any nice furniture. So if you have any nice furniture involved in your move, I guess your cost may be $500 more than the estimate. This company proves to not care about you or your belongings, but instead has figured out ways to scheme you for more money. Their quotes are going to be MUCH lower than your total cost at the end so please find a different moving company that is more ethical, fair and honest! *** These guys are SLOW and SHADY!!!! They will give you a really low quote to get you to choose them, then they will work REALLY slowly and make multiple trips to extend the time. Please please please go with another company!!!! Willamette Express helped us move our mom twice. They were more than capable communicators, always returned our calls timely, were thourough and patient answering our questions and providing information. We packed most of my mom's stuff ourselves and Willamette Exp provided boxes and packing materials so that we could get that piece done. The items they packed for us came out of the boxes as they went in - all in one piece. The crew and truck arrived and finished as scheduled on moving day, were conscientious, courteous, and patient with our questions and concerns. We also stored furniture and household items at Willamette Exp's warehouse. All of our things were secure and in a warehouse that is climate controlled, well-organized, and very clean. Their warehouseman, Richard, is a gem and the master of making sure you get out efficiently - we would have trialed-and-errored our way to two more trips if he hadn't assisted. There's a charge for his services, but was worth every penny for us because we are able to empty our space before the end of the month. We had several interactions with Jon (the president) - his concern and respect for his clients is reflected throughout how he runs his business. 5 stars, these guys are awesome, use them! read more

This company talks a good game, but does not deliver. They will send a crew of 3, 1 of which will be a temp that tells you that they are never going to do this again. They will track mud into your residence, they will damage your deck. They won't move all of your items as agreed previously and paid for. They charge you a percentage (additional) to pay by credit card. If you try and rectify the situation, Colleen will "tell the owner" about your concerns but nothing will get done. Spencer Scott will not respond to your correspondence. They will take the money, do a half ass job (which is complimentary) and not take any responsibility for their actions for damages caused or time lost. I simply cannot say enough good things about this company! We sold our 4 bedroom , three bath home in February 2019 and had been living in an apartment until our new home was ready. The new house is finally done! Our move yesterday included removing everything from our apartment, a stop at my sister's house to pick up a heavy desk and a final stop to pick up at a storage facility. We had done our own packing and had rented a 26 foot UHaul; however, needed the muscles and experience of Willamette Express to adequately pack the truck. Our team of two from Willamette Express provided us AMAZING service! They were polite, respectful and worked their tails off!!! We were delighted at how well everything was packed in the truck....they exceeded our expectations in the amount of items they were able to get in that truck! I've moved a couple times, even from California to Oregon. BUT I've never had the type of EXCELLENT experience. I've worked in a exhibit trading show warehouse with Union guys, so I've seen how they packed, and move things around. These guys who work for Willamette were AMAZING! I recommend not only for your buck as all the quotes I received there #1 on prices and people say you pay what you get for well, in this case I saved money and it was a quick smooth move. I almost never write reviews, negative or otherwise. Sometimes a company gives me an experience that is so far out of the norm that it deserves a review. After my experience with this company, I felt compelled to share. I scheduled my move for a Saturday, about 3 weeks before the expected move date. The morning of the move, I was contacted to let me know that 5 people had called out and it was unlikely they would have availability that day to complete my move. This was understandable as life happens. Scott who was the dispatcher had let me know that the owner should be reaching out to contact me that day. I requested a move for the following day and they said that they would contact me in the morning to let me know, and that I should expect a crew between 7:30AM-9AM. At 9:02AM I was texted to let me know that the same situation has occurred and I would not be getting a crew and that Monday they would have more support to work on getting me moved and that they would contact me. I called around 10AM Monday as I had not been contacted and requested an update on my move being scheduled. I was told the person who handles residential moves had stepped out of the office and would return shortly at which time they would call me back. It's 10:37AM on Tuesday and I was not called back. This company is extremely unprofessional. I should have been given service Sunday and someone else should have been cancelled since I was cancelled on previously. I should have been called Monday AM to work out with me when they could get me moved. I should have been called back after calling. No follow through by the people who work there. No contact from the owner. No effort at all to showing me they wanted my business. I was treated as disposable. read more

I don't recommend anyone use Willamette Express. We hired them to pack and store our household goods and it was by far the worst experience I have had with a moving company. A two pack and pickup turned into three days at almost double the cost we were quoted. We had a different team every day with only the last team being a professional crew. The first day was four high school students that didn't bring enough packing material or boxes, worked extremely slow, and took multiple breaks to smoke weed in their truck. They didn't lay down any mats to protect our floors or put any padding on any walls to protect them from damage nor did they properly wrap our furniture which resulted in both of our couches requiring professional cleaning. When our household goods were transferred to the carrier that would ship them a new patio umbrella we had purchased prior to moving was not included. I called Willamette the day our stuff was delivered and Colleen was able to track down our patio umbrella in their warehouse and that's where it stayed. I called every few days for an update and everyday I received a different excuse as to why they hadn't shipped me my umbrella and after two weeks my patience ran out and I asked to speak to someone from management and was told they were at lunch at 3pm. I called 30 minutes later and spoke to the owner who minimized my complaint and was told to look forward to the solution. The owner stated they would either ship me my patio umbrella or reimburse me for the cost of it. Another 4 days went by without any contact, when I called I was told they would send a check to replace it (still waiting for a call back to tell me when the check would be sent and how much it would be for) Throughout the process I have been blamed for them not including all my goods, not once have they taken responsibility for their mistakes. They said I should've noticed it wasn't included during transfer. They said I dropped it off at the warehouse at a later date which why it wasn't with the rest of my stuff (untrue). They said they couldn't ship it because they as a moving company couldn't find a driver. They said they couldn't ship it FedEx because they (a moving company) coudn't find a truck to drop it off. Never once did they call or email me to update, I had to initiate all of the conversations and beg them for a resolution that wasn't "forget about your expensive patio umbrella". read more

Willamette Express are the people you want moving your office and apartment. They are honest, reliable and beyond easy to coordinate with for business or personal moves. Dave Jackson was my sales rep in both instances, and each time the crew was professional, quick, and took all my concerns into consideration. For this last move I was especially pleased with the crew leader Scotty. He did a fantastic job getting all the guys working fast and in sync. I also had a slight miscommunication with them about hauling away some extra furniture, and when I called the next day to ask for help, they gave me a reasonable price on coming back for a little extra work. read more

Similar to other recent reviews, we found this company to be super shady! We moved in September 2018 to a temporary residence during a remodel with the intention to move back to our permanent residence. Knowing this, the "Sales person" Spencer Scott instilled feelings of confidence when he came to quote the job. But we too were bait and switched with the final cost being more than double what we were quoted! And to boot, when they broke our TV beyond repair and damaged our baby-grand piano, they were wholly unapologetic and gave us a whopping $345 for our troubles! Spencer didn't even return my calls - what kind of a sales person is that?!? Knowing that we would be turning around and moving again in a year, this was extra foolish! I am researching other movers for our return move now - sure as heck not letting these guys touch my stuff again! read more

Post move I was informed that 4% was added to my bill for using a charge card. I was not informed of this at the time I signed for charges. Willamette Express is far from a reputable moving company. After carefully tracking the time the movers spent in the course of the move, I was charged an additional hour for their lunch and refueling the truck. Their claim of a 1-hour commute(for which I am charged the regular moving rate) from their site to my home to begin the move was also questionable as typical driving time is less than 20 minutes. I have called the company's office no less than 6 times in an attempt to get a refund for the incorrect charges. It is now more than 2 months after the move and I have not received a just due refund. Another family member engaged their moving services only to find that the packed truck and movers were missing for more than 2 hours in the course of the move. The dispatcher was not able to reach them during this time period. read more

Over the past few years I have had to move not just me but my father as well. Some of those moves were a bit complicated. Before finding Willamette Express I had the unfortunate luck of using other movers (Big Al's and All My Sons). The other guys just didn't do a great job. They forgot to bring wardrobe boxes, they got lost, they rushed through one of the moves like they were on speed and they were surly. They packed kitchen stuff with bathroom stuff (yuck!!) That's just some of it. And then I found Willamette Express Moving. Wow! What a difference! The same guys would show up on my different moves so I got to know them and they were friendly and could communicate easily with me. And they were so sweet to my dad who was in his mid 90s at that time. Most of the guys have been working at Willamette Express Moving for quite some time. To me, that speaks very highly of a company. But what sets Willamette Express Moving apart from the others is the owner, Jon Calvin. If something goes wrong that is legitimately their fault, Jon will make it right. One time their truck had an issue with the lift so they knocked off an hour from the bill. They are good at what they do, they treat the customer with respect and they are honest. read more

Recently my husband and I recently hired Willamette Express M & S to move from one house to another. We had never hired movers before. What a great decision we made. From the first point of contact with Colleen in the office, to the arrival of Larry and Jose on moving day, the process was smooth. Colleen even called me the day before to confirm. We started out being satisfied with this company even though there were some signs early on that they weren't used to moving higher-end household goods....for example, they had no plans to protect an antique sofa upholstered in velvet (no covers/no shrink-wrap) until I saw how they were handling the piece and made a stink about it. They also underestimated the amount of packing that needed to be done which ultimately had some disastrous results for us because they were still packing as furniture and boxes were being loaded, thus distracting us from effectively supervising what was going on. We had specifically instructed them not to pack any of our artwork (Willamette Express has admitted that this had been made clear to them). Because our move was to a house only five miles away, we had moved all of the artwork ourselves; however, there were a few remaining pieces that we hadn't gotten to. Thus, it was a very unpleasant discovery during the unpacking process the next week to find that they had packed a fragile sculpture fashioned out of a walrus tusk (an investment piece purchased by us in 2004 for $2900) in a box along with items from our powder room (toilet plunger, cleaning supplies and two hand towels). The medium-size box was not labeled Fragile, but identified as "bath towels, paper, misc., and the sculpture had been laid on top simply separated from the rest by a single sheet of paper. Needless to say, given the labeling, opening this box wasn't high on the unpacking priority list. We submitted a claim asking for the depreciated value of this sculpture due to the damage which, of course, can be repaired, but will always detract from its re-sale value. Their response: a check for $6.00 (which we returned to them) based on the estimated weight of the sculpture. Willamette's management totally disregarded their failure to comply with our instructions not to touch any artwork and accepted no responsibility for this lapse. We realize that our move may have involved more than your average local moves. And, that's what we want anyone who is considering Willamette to know. If you have treasured items, this is NOT the company to select for your move. Their salespeople will tell you otherwise, but know that they can't be expected to follow even the most explicit instructions. And, if there is a problem, they will wiggle out of it. We have relocated several times and know that there is no perfect moving company or moving experience....damage happens. However, none has ever walked away from their responsibility like Willamette. read more

This company moved a new owner into a townhome community in Beaverton recently and the driver of the van severely damaged one of the trees adjacent to the home. A neighbor witnessed this and took photos and even spoke to the driver who admitted causing the damage. The tree branches were ripped off the tree adjacent to the street and walkway so the HOA had to have someone inspect quickly to ensure there were no immediate safety hazards. When the HOA contacted the company they were extremely rude, the manager admitted that his driver informed him of the issue and yet the manager disputed that they were responsible for the inspection and pruning costs. The photos and an estimate for the pruning and inspection were sent to Willamette Express for review and payment, they have ignored the emails and do not return calls. Terrible business practice because we have 15 other homes for sale which means 15 potential customers they could solicit. Owners talk to each other so I doubt they would be recommended at this point. Is this how they handle an incident with a customer they are moving? I would be it is! read more

We used this company to move from the Portland area to Oregon City. We had rec'd a flyer in the mail. For a two bedroom house the flyer shows 350.00-475.00, our bill was almost 900.00! Much more than we were expecting. We were not a packed as needed as not all boxes had the top taped down. My husband did not prep the headboard so I told him that he needed to get in there and handle it as we were being charged over 90.00 an hour. He had words with the 'head mover' and the mover proceeded to take the next 15min on the phone to the office complaining. He was the best worker. His helper, looked like he was picked up on the way to our house. Not much helpor knowledge in moving. When the head mover would say something, or call the 2nd mover would come out of the truck empty handed, or would return to the truck to get something emply handed. We had several pieces of furniture dropped. One rolled from the top of the ramp clear to the bottom. All dropped from the same man. They were concerned with this as it was one of three items that they never unwrapped themselves. read more

I have used Willamette Express to move my office which went off without a problem in 2013. I then had them move me when I downsized to a 900 sq. foot apartment in 2015 across town. They were efficient, professional and very organized and took 5 hours total. (paid by the hour) I then moved the exact same amount of stuff to a different apartment in the same building in 2016 and they were much less efficient and took 2 hours longer than moving across town. I had the good fortune to purchase a home and had them move me from the apartment on 16th street to a house on 52nd with the exact same amount of belongings. They were slow, inefficient, would not lock off the elevator, dropped and broke a table, put our bed together wrong and took 11.5 hours to move the exact same amount of belongs. (they are paid by the hour and the driver told me he had another job he did not want to go to) They were nice and pleasant but soooo slow. I called Willamette Express office to discuss the length of time, cost of the move and the broken table. They were too busy with a really big project and we were simply not important enough. It has now been 2 weeks and there has been no call back, no report on our broken table, no explanation of why the move took 2 x as long or any communication. I made a big mistake using this company this time and will never use them again. Use them at your own risk. read more
