Red carpet treatment at the new house
    Matt H.

From start to finish, Oregon Trail Moving exceeded our expectations. We called the week before to request an estimate, and the woman who helped on the phone gave us great information on what to expect, how to prepare, etc. We are a 7-person family plus pets, plenty of furniture, and a piano, so this was a pretty big move. Plus, the old house had a terrible basement with not-up-to-code stairs, a loft bedroom, and while we had boxes packed we needed a lot of help getting tables and beds taken apart. We used 3 movers (Chad, Chris S, and John G). They showed up early and immediately walked through the house with me to understand my expectations and needs. It took NO TIME to get all the boxes loaded into our truck. By lunch, the truck was basically finished save for a few odds/ends that my wife and I found. Once at the new house, we were given the (literal) red carpet treatment. We were so touched by the care they took in getting our important items placed just right. We didn't even have to lift a finger to set any furniture up. Because the move was so large, we had to go back for a second trip, but again, the guys' attitudes and work ethic were above-and-beyond, and we were completely moved within about 10 hours of starting. I don't want to move again, but if I do I will reach out to Oregon Trail Moving as my first and only choice. Moving is a very expensive process - but let me be clear, the spend that we made with them was THE BEST use of our money all year. HIGHLY recommend!

Two relocubes unloaded in under 2 hours by a 3 person crew.

I am a repeat customer from last year. The crew: Leo, Austin and Julian. Texted me before arrival and showed up on time and wearing masks. They were fast courteous and professional. I took the time to read the email that was sent Co firming my appointment and noticed the instructions about stacking your boxes chest high with heaviest on bottom, the crew seemed to appreciate that! You will to add it believe it helped us get both Relocubes loaded in three hours flat, including multiple trips down the elevator. The prices are competitive and the service is excellent. Don't hesitate to book with OTM!

OK these guys SAVED us!! I mean, absolutely incredible. we just moved across the country and hubs and I have been trying to empty a dang POD for two months! ....we were stymied trying to carry stuff down steep basement stairs + heavy lifting. We're in our 50s & our friends are old and creaky like us...so we called these guys, spoke to incredibly helpful Jennifer, and - done! 3 dudes showed up the next morning and had the entire thing carefully emptied, delivered downstairs to the basement - in about an hour and a half. what we couldn't do in 2 months, they did in like an hour, with smiles and great attitudes. Wow!! unbelievably fast, strong, and still smiling?! amazing service. can't wait for another opportunity to hire this team. don't hesitate. they rock and ps, I didn't find a better price anywhere.

Edit: I was extremely kind and understanding to not only these employees but also Nick, who texted me last night. I literally said to them "I'm sorry but we've decided that respectfully we need to ask you to leave. Thank you for your help." I thanked Nick yesterday for not charging me. He then got mad at me because I wouldn't remove this review. I told him I couldn't do so with integrity as my review is my honest experience. I was in the truck all evening until midnight reorganizing their "free labor." I have videos and pictures of all of the mess that was created. I will happily add a picture of my receipt of the $500 I paid for last minute movers as well as our narrow street that I spent 15 minutes attempting to park the uhaul in the driveway of (this coming from someone who's been driving these for 13 years). I will also post my conversation with Nick. The other company I used were excellent and I'll be leaving their company 5 stars like I've left for many companies over the years. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with movers. We had to ask them to leave. Two out of shape men (no problem, I'm out of shape too but don't be a mover if you are) showed up an hour and 15 minutes late to our move. They were supposed to arrive at 2. They called at 2:30 and said they'd be there in a half hour. They showed up at 3:15. That would have been fine but these men were extremely slow. I've hired professional movers at least 5 times now and never seen anyone go this slowly. One guy was just standing in the uhaul for literally 30 minutes "organizing" things without moving anything. The other was on the phone with his girlfriend for 20 minutes while very slowly wrapping furniture. One of them knocked a bin down the stairs, breaking the bin and spilling the contents everywhere. The other ran into the wall with our nightstand and left a large dent. They left our fabric couch on its side out in the driveway on the pavement. In the two and a half hours we had them here they filled less than half the uhaul with bins in the most unorganized manner I've ever seen. They didn't move ANY of our large items - bed, frame, dresser, accent chair, loveseat, etc. They attempted to load the sofa on its side on one of my nice quilts that they threw on the ground even though I had an extra moving blanket available upstairs which I told them about. We asked them to leave. It was that bad. Now I get to pay $500 for last minute movers to come in the morning to REPACK the uhaul and actually more our large items. And now we're late for our cross country move. Terrible experience.

I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. in the end this guy ruined my 2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.

So along with sq-ft…read moreof the apartment, I provided a detailed inventory of all the large items, and an estimate of cu-ft in boxed sundry. I also gave them photos and suggestions for off-street parking. On moving day, they arrived 40 min late and had no information about the parking situation (+15 min for moving the moving truck). Either the estimator or dispatch listed me as a single room rather than top-to-bottom 1,000 SF apartment. They only booked a 2-person team for 4 hours (needed to be double), and nowhere near enough packing materials to finish the job. Between the late start and fixing all the problems, we burned 2 hours before even getting started. The guys were complaining TO ME that they wouldn't be paid overtime. Their preferred time-saving method was to simply empty kitchen drawers (including sharps) into huge boxes that also had paper lantern floor lamps, decorative pillows, and random stuff from my office (lamps were trashed). There were only 2 closets; both had gotten the floors cleared, but no one bothered with the overhead shelves. Due to limited space on the truck, I had to make other arrangements to move my couch, 2 living room chairs, and my bed. Once we got to the new place, they ignored the room labels and simply piled everything I own in the middle of living rm/kitchen. Instead of using the rest of my weekend to unpack, it took me TWO WEEKS to dig out, distribute, and get stuff put away. I made several trips back to my old apartment to clean out the closets and rescue other stuff that I discovered. I paid another $900 to have those last 4 pieces of furniture carted out and donated. Hire these idiots at your peril.
