Rat infestation!! manager says it's not his fault. It's my fault because I had car soap and bleach in my unit. Stated he knew about the rats prior to our move in. Public storage staff... have all been unhelpful customer services were unhelpful. Third party insurance covered only 250$ and I'm unable to be reimbursed because they closed the account without consent. I lost 45% of my belongings using this negligent company. public storage says well you stored hazardous chemical.... what does that have to do with rats at your property? DO NOT KEEP STUFF HERE! I made reservations for Dec. 10th. I received several emails and text messages and it's posted on their office door that they close at 5pm. I arrived around 4pm maybe a little sooner and nobody was there to show my identification to so I could gain access. I called and left several messages including one earlier that day to confirm I would be there before 5pm. Nobody called me back. I had a uhaul full of things I needed the unit for and I ended up having to keep the truck longer costing me MORE money. I downloaded the app and set up online access and was sent a code, but the code didn't work and the machine said to see management. I assume because they needed to verify my ID at the office with manager like I was instructed to do. This morning the ride manager called me back and I told him I no longer needed the unit and I'd like a refund.He said he'd take care of it and hung up without giving me any more information. 2 minutes later my bank text me asking if I had verified a charge for $19.99. He was supposed to refund my $49.99 not charge more. The bank didn't pay the fee and now I have to go to get another card. I reached out to Public Storage via chat and the lady told me too bad I signed a lease so I have to pay the one time service fee. This is a bunch of crap! I followed my end of the deal and these people stole from me and I want my money back. They have made my moving experience extra stressful and super expensive not having my uhaul back on time. Do NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. Extra space storage is good pricing, it's clean and safe and there are no complaints of RATS and rat feces in the units. read more

this place was terrible. the rent started under 200 and in a year was over 300 per month. most of our belongings were either ruined completely or heavily damaged by a rat infestation. They have bait stations outside of the units but you will see that inside the units the rats run wild. mattresses and box spring completely ruined. all of the boxes were chewed open and the clothes inside were either chewed apart or were soaked in rat urine. I would have given no stars if it would have let me. I strongly urge anyone considering storage at this facility to look elsewhere for your storage needs- anywhere else- no matter the price- no matter the distance- I am giving the best advice possible- you do not want to use this facility- you should avoid this place like the plague !! Rats,Mice, Roaches, Ants,Spiders, and that's the least of the problems with this place. the employees are probably by far the most rude, lazy, rediculous, liars, dishonest, and horrible bunch of people. there insurance they pretend you must have is worthless if they cause damage to your items in anyway- your loss not there problem maybe it is a company that gives them a cut from every person that is required to use the company. everything about this place and I mean everything is a horrible horrible joke. I dont have enough space to give more warnings or details I would suggest any other option you have or any other storage company you can find that you take it. The staff has always been friendly on the two occasions I spoke with them (Move in, and pre-Move In). That being said, the place is a dump! I'm pretty sure homeless people live there, at least they're always on site (but I don't care, good for them for finding a roof over their heads), but it's way too sketchy of a place for my wife to ever feel comfortable going alone. That being said, they do have cameras and a gate so I haven't had any concerns about theft. I'm basically renting a closet for what WAS a reasonable price. The reason they're getting a ONE STAR REVIEW today is that they unexpectedly just raised my rates 35% after only 3 months doing business with them. And No, I wasn't in on some "introductory rate" where this was part of the deal, sort of like what you'd expect from Comcast or something. This was worse. Classic, bait & switch. What pisses me off is because the rate so was reasonable when I got it, I inquired "Is this my fixed rate? Or is this an Introductory Price that is going to substantially increase?" I was told, "No, we can't promise prices won't raise, but any raises would 'LIKELY' be modest, as in maybe $5 or so." Whatever. I get it. Inflation is part of life. But this was seriously a 35 PERCENT increase with ONE MONTHS NOTICE. I'll be leaving and telling everyone else I know NOT TO DO BUSINESS HERE. To be fair, this place is still the cheapest in town (and for good reason -- the place is a dump!), but if your pocketbook is your priority and you can get past the smell, then its fine FOR THE SORT TERM. Do not plan on budgeting around them long term because like I said -- 35 PERCENT PRICE INCREASE with One Month's Warning is a pretty crappy way to do business and treat your customers. But maybe seeing as they're operating as an apartment complex for homeless people they're just keeping up with rents? 1/5 Stars, and that 1 is only because the staff was nice and nothings been stolen from me..... yet. read more

very rude, unprofessional, make up rules and policies to fit there mood, violate there own policies, my units have been broke in by other customers and non customers as well and I was charged a fee for a new lock to secure my unit after being broke into only to learn they never relocked my unit after the break in. i also buy units at auction and have watched the employees enter the units and look through the boxes or stored goods before taking pics for the auction. I have watched employees remove goods from units prior to auctions. I have been a customer as well as an auction buyer for many years only because lack of other options. climate control- nope secure- nope friendly- nope this company cares nothing about you or the security of your goods do not let the friendliness prior to leasing a space fool you. you will have no control over the safety of your goods at the facility and if they allow your goods to be at risk or if they damage your goods well that's your fault as you entered In the contract with them. I have rat droppings all throughout my unit as well as property damaged by rats I have killed cockroach bugs in there hallways. I can continue on with the things I have learned about this company through my years of needing storage but I think I've shared enough to warn you about your storage security and cleanliness at this company that if you decide to store your property with this company you are taking a big risk read more

Would NEVER use Public Storage again, especially this one in Hillsboro. Besides it being dirty and in poor shape the people that work in the office are unprofessional and unable to do their job. I rented a space for 2 months while my new house was being built. My account was paid thru the end of Sept. I moved out the on 9/29 and let the office know that I moved out. A few weeks later I received a bill that I owed another months rent. I called the office and was told they would get the issue fixed. Instead they sent my acct to a collection agency. I am now trying to get the acct fixed and the district manager is not returning my phone calls after multiple tries. read more

Easy access, clean, and simple storage operation. I did everything online, and locks and keys were contactless upon move-in. I had a short stay but enjoyable. My properties were safe the entire time, and ending my lease was simple as well. Thank you public storage. read more

They force you to insure the storage. They keep raising the rent. Started at $198 a month it's now $270 a month. The day I moved in there a was a random kid riding around on a bike in the secured section of the property. This makes me think it's not really that secure so is my extorted insurance coverage being wasted or is it a complete necessity because of the lack of security? read more

Have never had a problem with our storage unit. The customer service people have been prompt to call me back and helpful when we needed to move to a larger unit. Always cheerful and friendly, they make it easy to deal with them. Cindy has been a blessing. Will continue to use them in the future. read more

It's not obvious, but the $1 first month deal is not on most units. You don't discover this until you sign up. Like most self storage there is a $22 Admin fee to begin, and it seems mandatory insurance, $11/mo for $3,000 coverage, which comes to $132/yr, which is more than I'm use to paying for an entire apt and $50,000 coverage. I doubt it would be easy to make a claim. So before you book, get the real price so you can make comparisons. read more

I parked my Toyota 4Runner here, anticipating it would be for one year.It's been six plus years and the vehicle was waiting for me yesterday, safe and (almost) sound. Naturally the battery was dead as a doornail and the tires were a mite low, but the only other problems were the paper wasp nests in the door channels, and the blackberry vine ends where someone had clearly taken the time to try to clear them away. And moss was trying to repaint it green on the north side. But other than the living plants and insects that thought it looked like home, there was no damage and nothing missing. I rented a space 5 months ago, always paid on time, and now they want to raise my rent from $118 to $131/month. They are also advertising the same exact size units for $96/month plus required insurance. When I rented, I asked how often they usually increase the rates and was told "typically once a year". Rachel was very helpful when I was inquiring and signing up for the unit however, when I questioned my rent increase was told she would check with their district manager, and they would probably honor my current rate, I never heard back. I inquired again today and was told that the new higher rate would apply the beginning of next month. BYE BYE Public Storage read more

Needing a storage unit the first place I naturally would turn is Public Storage. Over the years it was the place my parents always used. This was the first time I used a storage for myself and the first time at this location. I was happy with the $1 move in special that I saw online. I only wish they would state on the website that you have to buy insurance and a lock and pay a $24 admin fee when you fill out your reservation. I was under the impression it would really be only $1 move in. After my reservation a man from this location called me to verify and that is when I found out about the other costs. I believe it may have been Mark? He was very nice and explained the other costs. Still $56 for the first month is not bad. I was a bit disappointed that I needed to buy a PS storage lock at $19.99 when I saw regular locks on other units. I ended up only needing the unit for two weeks. The staff was wonderful and very polite. I only dealt with one member in person however which I believe his name was Mark. He was very nice and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this location. read more
