They have the best Queso dip I've ever had!!! ALL-TIME FAVORITE! Everything I have had is very good and made to order. It takes a few minutes through the drive through, but wort it! DONT GO HERE!!!! My boyfriend and I went look for some adobado tacos, a chorizo torta, and a sopes. First I ordered my tacos and was IMMEDIATELY told to come to the window. My boyfriend was still reading the menu and was completely rushed! I pulled up to the window were I had to finish my order at the window and because there were no sopes, my boyfriend couldn't go back and read the menu. I asked for a large horchata which was ALMOST FORGOTTEN had I not asked. The torta had no flavor, there was barely any salsa, I asked for no pico de gallo on my tacos and they put it anyways !! A little more "South O" than your usual North O Mexican fare. It's not as American as Taco Johns or Taco Bell, but doesn't have all the offerings of meats (al pastor, cheek, head meat etc) that you would easily find cruising down 24th street. It's got an amazingly fast drive thru, and it opens till 10 on weeknights. I personally love the chimichanga, bc fried burrito is basically my middle name. I've been eating here for months now. They constantly forget to leave the guacamole out of orders when we ask very clearly and multiple times to leave guacamole out. This place is open 24 hours and they're legendary for fulfilling late night snack runs and satisfying the most vicious Mexican food craving. The prices are great and the food... well, let me tell you how good the food is. I live in San Antonio, TX, the TexMex capital of the universe. My daughters attend college in Omaha. When I visit them, I purchase several burritos at Abelardo's, I freeze them in my daughters' freezer, throw them in a cooler covered in ice, and drive back to Texas. Are you hearing what I'm saying? I import burritos to Texas from Omaha. I know it sounds absurd, but it's true, and if you try them you'll understand. Taco Tuesday is popular. Toppings fresh. They need to drain the meat better. The tacos are either wet and soggy or greasy immediately.

I love this and the other Abelardos location for both late night and breakfast burrito action. Something about their hot sauce... mmm. It's nothing fancy, that's for sure. But compared to most other fast food options, far superior, if you're into things like flour tortilla's fresh off the grill wrapped around well cooked meat and melted cheese made fresh right when you order it. The taco's are traditional style (the cute one-hand ones), so for me the burrito and drive-through are king. read more

I am going to give them 3 stars for relatively large portions, but overall I would not return. The décor is "old Taco Bell" location. I ordered chips and guac and a #18; both came out at the same time; defeating the purpose of the chips "app". Both also came out in To-go containers. They seem to be setup for a drive thru, rather than dining traffic. Ordered a large drink, but once food was ready; was handed a bottle and told that the lines are frozen and fountain drinks are not available. Was there a price difference? Who knows. I asked and was given a blank look. The asada was finely diced typical cheap Mex joint quality; so expected. The guac was a watery mess. I can understand slivering that saucy crap inside a burrito: nice and hidden. Putting it on top of nachos and charging me $4.50; not so much! If Chipotle, Moe's and Qdoba can do it; an authentic place has no excuse. I am familiar with the concept and if you need a late night greasy fix; worth a stop. Alvarado's is probably the best fast food Mexican you can find in Omaha. They have a huge menu, and the prices are great. They make their own guacamole and hot sauces. For vegetarian options, Alvarado's has a few items. My favorite thus far, are the cheese enchilada and chips with fresh salsa and guacamole. Has not been as good the last two times I've gone, usually get beef burrito combo and the last two times the beef lacks seasoning and has had a questionable texture including something hard that I bit down on, did not find what it was but was kind of turned off so that ended my meal. The exterior is getting rougher as well, I'm sorry but duck tape and wire should not be long term fixes for your drive through speaker. If you don't make an investment on the building exterior would you make an investment on a cooler or fryer If was not working? Sadly because of the exterior I don't know.
