Everyone but this guy was double the price and longer wait time to arrive at Kakaako along Ala Moana Blvd. He had the best rate way under $100, and he was immediately available -- within 10minute arrival! I was lucky. Later on, a neighbor was locked out and I recommended him but he was out of town, unfortunately for her. I would still recommend this guy for plan A if you are in Kakaako or nearby areas -- bookmark on yelp. Always keep a plan B too. 5 years ago, I lost my spare car keys. I called Jason after reading about about him on yelp. He didn't disappoint. Today I needed a key (lost again) program my remote and as a bonus asked him if he can repair my door lock cylinder. (The thief didn't get in.) The keys and remotes are no problem, but the lock cylinder was more of a challenge. I must say, you have to have a lotta patience, strong back and legs and good eyes. (Small hands help). The working space is small and you have to turn and twist your hands to get to the screws and clip hidden by the door frame. I called this business out of desperation. My blond girlfriend purchased a used Lexus ct200h from a less than reputable dealer that refused to provide her with a spare keyless fob. If you have ever lost one, or had to replace one, you know that it is a costly and at best inconvenient procedure. I puchased a blank aftermarket replacement on EBay, but no one, including Lexus was really interested in programming the key. The only Lexus dealer in Hawaii even said that if I had puchased a factory part from them, it would have a different story; an understatement if there ever was one. In my hurried state to grab the million things out of my car and get into my office, I did what I always do: threw my car key into my gym bag and took my office keys out. I think my case is up there as far as worst situations that require a locksmith. I have a Honda Civic and lost my key (with the fob), so I needed another one programmed and didn't have one readily available to copy, although I did have one INSIDE MY CAR. Pretty great forward thinking on my part. Jason and his wife pulled up to my apartment about 30 minutes after my first call with them, and after another 30 minutes of trying to break into my street-parked car using what looked like unfolded metal hangers and sphygmomanometers--which we almost got to work by the way!--Jason decided it was time to just make a key. He had to call someone else to get him a key code for my car, which is why I think he preferred to try to get in himself. He told me I didn't need to wait around anymore, and after a quick nap and a vivid dream about me as a little boy in my garage sitting in the driver's seat of my pop pop's old Nissan pretending to drive, Jason called and just said, "Come here" without telling me if I was going to keep dreaming for the rest of my days. But I have parents, so when he was being secretive about something that I really wanted, I knew deep down that he had produced. The rest is pretty obvious given the 5 stars. I should say that I provided two of my own aftermarket blank keys, which helped drive down the already low price he was offering, so I ended up paying something like half of what I would have with other companies. And he didn't need to tow my car. He asked if I knew the FCC ID numbers for the blanks I got, but I had no idea. It didn't appear to slow him down, but I think there was a possibility the keys wouldn't have worked. He's an honest, hard-working dude, and I'm glad I chose him. I might get another key copied with him and "accidentally" lock my car with all four inside just so we can go on this roller coaster ride together one more time.
