This place is gorgeous! The decor is elegant, cozy, and rustic, making it the perfect spot for brunch. I got the salmon eggs Benedict, and it was solid. I also ordered the raspberry lychee bellini, which I didn't like. The flavors just didn't pair well together.
I really think that ABC Kitchen is one of the most special restaurants in Manhattan. Attached to ABC Home, ABC Kitchen is beyond gorgeous inside. Rustic, romantic, cozy and almost ethereal. We came with my one year old, and they had high chairs. I have to say the menu is well suited for toddlers. Ample toasts menu - she enjoyed the squash and crab toast. And let me tell you..... the squash toast is DELICIOUS. We also had a carrot and avocado salad with fresh market greens, grilled whole artichoke, burger, shrimp and grits, salmon, and finished with a caramel corn sundae. I will stand by this: ABC Kitchen is the BEST same day reservation you can get in the city. Incredible ambiance, incredible food, my favorite Jean-Georges restaurant.
The first thing I noticed about ABC Kitchen was its décor. It was beautiful, refined and rustic all at once. I also noticed the large display of fresh vegetables and fruits near the open kitchen, indicating the usage of fresh ingredients. And yes! The food is fresh as everything is made with local, organic ingredients, and you can certainly taste the difference. I ordered the akaushi cheeseburger, stacked with creamy herbed mayonnaise, and pickled jalapeños, and served alongside crispy fries. I have to say this is probably one of the best burgers I have tried. It was cooked exactly to my liking, and incredibly juicy. The jalapenos added a mild heat and the cheese that gave it a savory flavor. And the sesame bun was amazing. I would definitely come back for this burger.
This spot is great for large parties as they know how to take care of a bigger party. The service is great and the food that comes out is equally delicious. So many great options to choose from that you can't go wrong. The thuna toast and grilled salmon were all great'! The chocolate cake is decadent in the best ways.
My friends were visiting from Japan and I wanted to introduce original "NYC" atmosphere restaurant. It was perfect gesture because that day was SO hot and simply we wanted to eat something light, something fresh. We took advantage of restaurant week menu and it was perfect! Every dish was so refreshing and my friends were very pleased.
Everything tastes delicious. Wait staffs are friendly. However the vibe is a bit too loud for me. Maybe I am too old for the scene!
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, great service. From previous brunch reviews and the menu, it wasn't clear what we would order. My husband and I shared the frittata, kale salad and a side of bacon. We also ordered a dutch baby pancake, which came toward the end of the meal but ended up being a great little dessert (we asked for fresh plates and silverware). Other than probably preferring our own coffee carafe because we always had to hunt down the servers for more coffee, service was very friendly.
Pros: easy to get reservations, great for large parties, spacious Cons: service and food were very mediocre We tried the majority of the appetizers and pastas with a group of 8. Burger and fried chicken were fine, as was much everything else. The singular "star" on the food menu was the crab toast.
I've always loved the decor of ABC Kitchen. The open design carries a bit of rustic design with bit of modern feel to it. Staff are all very friendly. A lot of vegan/vegetarian options that diners can add protein to. Portions are a good size enough to share. We enjoyed a nice lunch eating a couple of vegan dishes and a couple of regular dishes. The place wasn't very crowded today so we didn't have any issues hearing each other, but I can imagine in a crowded environment the background noise would be significant. Overall, enjoyed our meal here and is a good option for vegans/vegetarians.
Nestled in the ritzy Manhattan Flatiron District, ABC Kitchen is the brainchild of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and executive chef Ayaka Guido, specializing in local, fresh ingredients cooked with the perfect balances of spice, acidity, and Asian touches. The restaurant exterior presents a modest and understated façade: its entrance, subtly integrated into the ground floor of the ABC Carpet & Home building, features large windows that offer glimpses into the inviting interior. The unassuming exterior leads into a space full of rustic charm and quiet, contemporary elegance. The interior showcases reclaimed wooden beams, whitewashed brick walls, and vintage-inspired furnishings, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our party of four made a last-minute reservation for 7:30pm thirty minutes in advance during the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend - at that time, the restaurant was around ¾ full, so we were immediately led to our table. The menu is short and simple, highlighting seasonal produce with thoughtful flavors. The pacing of our meal was perfect: upon ordering our appetizers arrived within ten minutes, and our entrees about fifteen minutes after that, and we never felt rushed. We began with their Sour Cream and Onion Pull-Apart Bread ($19), which is pillowy-soft rolls that nostalgically resemble an upscale version of the Pringles flavor: there's a richness from the herbed oil, as well as a tang from the sour cream, and the herbal labneh dip on the side provides a lovely earthy richness to the dish. We also ordered their Wood Roasted Whole Artichoke ($20), which is a crispy, charred whole artichoke slathered in garlic, parsley, lemon, and oil. This was actually a bit greasier than we thought it would be, with very little actual artichoke "meat", but it was an interesting take on the vegetable that we had never seen before, and the garlic-parsley combination was surprisingly addictive. For entrees, one member of our party opted for the Farro Risotto ($29), which consisted of toothsome, slow-cooked farro with a smoky creme fraiche, earthy black trumpet mushrooms, roasted sugar snap peas, and preserved lemon. Even without a protein, the combination of earthy, bitter, rich, and acidic flavors in the dish paired with contrasting textures lent it a unique quality that I've never seen before. Another member went with the Grass Fed Cheeseburger ($32), which was a large 6-8oz succulent beef patty cooked to a perfect medium rare, served with an herbed mayonnaise, pickled jalapenos, and crispy hand-cut fries. Again, the chefs have really mastered the art of pairing flavors together to craft the perfect bite, although we found the fries a bit too thin-cut for our liking. The Spinach Pizza ($26) was New York style pizza with an extremely thin and crispy crust, topped with spinach, tangy goat cheese, and a lovely blend of herbs. It came pre-sliced into 8 pieces, and was perfect as an entree for one or a shared dish for the table. Lastly, as I had a lighter appetite that night, I went with the Five Spiced Beet & Celery Salad ($24), which consisted of two different types of earthy, slightly sweet beets (pink and red), whipped goat cheese, and herbaceous shiso leaves (which lend a flavor akin to a blend of mint and basil). While the portion was a bit small, this was perhaps one of the most unique beet salads I've ever tasted, and I didn't feel it was overwhelmed by too much oil and vinegar, as some beet salads are. In summary, our meal at ABC Kitchen was a lovely departure from some of the heavier meals I'd had on my trip, with a great farm-to-table ethos and grounding in environmental consciousness. While this was certainly pricey, especially given the portion sizes, I could really taste the thoughtfulness, intentionality, and ingredient quality in each dish, and the service was eager to provide us with their expertise. I will certainly be back to sample some of their seasonal dishes when autumn rolls around!
It's restaurant week (rw) now and we decided to stop by for lunch (the rw lunch menu consists of 2 courses - apps and entrees). Our appetizers (fluke sashimi, lentil soup), entrees (salmon, chicken) and dessert (pavlova) were prepared with great care and were all tasty. It was evident that the entire staff takes pride in its work. Bottom line, the food and service were excellent.
The campanelle was light and refreshing, not too heavy. Mushroom pizza was delicious with the yolk in the middle - the crust was thin and chewy. We came here on a Wednesday after work and it was so lively around 6-7pm. Great place to grab dinner in an intimate environment. The food was delicious, service was great.

Stumbled upon this restaurant after exploring the union square farmers market. Beautiful dining space and wonderful staff. We had ordered the burger and the calamari. The burger was like a traditional American burger, didn't think it was spectacular. The calamari although was delicious! read more

ABC Kitchen is a popular brunch spot with delicious food and beautiful decor. The Roast Carrot and Avocado Salad is my absolute favorite, although I haven't had a dish I didn't like here. This time, my friend and I shared: - Roast Carrot and Avocado Salad ($25+) - Black Truffle Pizza ($30+) I'm not a fan of truffle, but the Black Truffle Pizza with fontina cheese and farm egg was so good. My only disappointment was the Organic Young Thai Coconut Water ($10+), which came in a glass, not coconut. It was good, but I wouldn't order it again. It also took a while to get our bill, but we weren't in a rush and had a nice brunch experience overall. Hope to be back again soon! read more
Very cute vibes, featuring a rustic white interior filled with lots of greenery. The place was packed when we arrived, ~9 pm on a Friday night. We started off with drinks. I got the strawberry cocktail and it was super yummy! As for food, I ordered the salmon which was a good portion and very flavorful. Overall very yummy! read more

This is a review for two visits spanning across two years! Happy to say the quality of the restaurant hasn't fallen. It's kind of a standard place we choose with big groups. The decor is beautiful and chic and rustic at the same time. Service is good! Our server kinda pestered us and don't let us have a conversation till we ordered our mains but I guess it's okay. Their best dishes are likely their 1) juices (both red and green juices) 2) whole wheat pizzas - Brussels sprouts one and the truffle ones were exceptionally impressive. 3) crab toast is on the bland side but if you like crab you will like it 4) ABC also does great fries :) The skinny mezcalita and ginger margarita are both great brunch drinks Rest of the Food is good. The chicory chrysanthemum salad is nice The calamari was really flavorful with the dips. Well fried but it wasn't greasy but crispy The baked eggs with pita is a good dish The scrambled eggs with bread and smoked salmon is also pretty great Finally the chocolate lava cake is too sweet for my taste but an indulgent dessert nevertheless The carrot cake unfortunately is unimpressive - it's a good cake don't get me wrong just not the best. You're better off ordering other desserts :) read more

This was a lovely spot for a birthday party. Everything was tasty. We shared an assortment of appetizers and I had one of the pasta dishes "strozzapreti" for the main course. There was a dessert "caramel popcorn sundae" which stood out among the rest. The ambiance is warm and inviting and we never felt rushed. Staff was attentive and friendly. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for a long time with my mother. We share lunch and dinner together through different menu versions throughout the years. But it always maintain a variety of delicious and organic dishes. My recent order was Crab Toast for appetizers along with Black Sea Bass and Black Truffle Pizza as my two main dishes. The space and decor is an extension of the ABC store which is shown throughout the restaurant from the tables, chairs, tableware, chandeliers, etc. The servers and manager of the restaurant are incredible when it comes to service even for walk-ins. This is somewhere I would highly recommend for a quick bite or sip, special occasion since there are long tables for large parties, and overall go-to spot to try their organic dishes read more
I went here for brunch because I've been to some of the other restaurants and I've had great experiences. Unfortunately, this was not one of them. Food: The food was a decent size but tasted pretty average for the prices we were paying. Service: Atrocious. No one came and checked on us and if we tried to flag someone down they acted as if we were causing them inconvenience. Price: Everything was over priced especially considering what we were getting for it. I paid $50 for tea and a pizza. Ambiance: The one positive thing about the restaurant is it's ambiance. It's really cool decor and I love all the different designs. Clearly a lot of though was putting into decorating this restaurant. read more

I don't know how or why I've taken so long to find this gem. All the dishes were so well made. The inside is large and perfect for a group of friends to gather for dinner and drinks. The service could have been a bit better but honestly the food made up for it. The caramel sundae was to die for. Do not skip for dessert!! read more
The space was rustic chic, with hardwood beams, modern farm tables and loved the mix of lighting throughout the restaurant. It was inviting, intimate whole still being spacious enough that you're not sitting on top of your neighbor. I heard it used to be an old furniture store which kinda makes sense. Small plates to share all around. Highlights of the night: 1) crab toast 2) yuzu shrimp 3) sweet corn (seasonal) 4) mushroom pizza - crust was so delicious 5) spinach pasta (not pictured) 6) country pate Since the small bites and mains were so delicious we had to go for the desserts. We tried the molten cake, chocolate cake, panna cotta and carrot cake. To be honest nothing hit home. I was really hoping for me and didn't get it. The molten cake was the most like what you would expect. The chocolate cake - could have been a bit more moist, carrot cake a bit too dense and the panna cotta - not light and airy enough, in my humble opinion. But wouldn't deter me from coming back. Everything else was delicious. read more

The sea bass was incredible! The restaurant was beautiful, but the seating was very tight and it felt and sounded like a cafeteria. We were seated without menus and it took several minutes before our server came to hand us menus. I feel the servers could've been a bit kinder, but there was nothing necessarily negative about our experience. We came for lunch at 1pm and were surprised to get a brunch menu, but I'm guessing that's normal for this restaurant. The quality of the food was exceptional and tasted like it was prepared with love and care. My partner asked for her burger medium well and it came medium, but she still enjoyed it. Over all, it was a good experience that could've been amazing with better service. read more

Come here just for the pizza alone. Their truffle mushroom, cheese, and egg pizza is easily one of the best tasting pizzas in the city! The flavors are bold, the truffle adds incredible savory and umami flavors, the cheese is flavorfully and chewy, and the egg is soft and delicate. The crust is also phenomenal - this is one of the few crusts that I actively looked forward to eating with each slice! read more

What a unique space and location part of the ABC store the ABC Kitchen is just as good visibly as your tast buds explode with all the flavors. We came in on a recommendation. Tables set to perfection, meals just as lovely. we went with the Cardamom Duthch Pankakes, and my wife went with the backed eggs. One was so savory and one just right with syrup sweetness. The presentation was wonderful! No dessert as we were stuffed! Next door, all part of the same organization was a vegan, and one was Mexican and all accessible thru the center to the ABC Home Store. Carly, the manager, stopped by for a quick hello, which I thanked here for stopping by. read more

Riley and I came here to get a pre shopping buzz going. Some d-bag spilled his Manhattan on her cape the night before at the Marlton. He promised to get her a new one till he found out how much LP goes for and opted to just pay for the dry cleaning. Chivalry is dead, and I have to assume so is Lazard otherwise Zach's bonus could have sprung for a cape. The ginger Marg is delicious. I highly recommend drinking a few. It may have catalyzed a few shoe purchases I only kinda sorta needed read more

Everything I expected and more! This has been on my list and did not disappoint. Highlights: Pretzel crusted calami comes with an amazing horse radish mustard. Bolognese is out of this world!! Total vibe of the space is cool. Kind of a soft industrial feel. Service was outstanding. I will definitely be back! read more
Terrible service, okay food. I wasn't seated until 40 minutes past my reservation time. That was already really upsetting and the food took too long to arrive. Portions were quite small and the only redeeming dishes were the pizzas, which were good but not wait-40-minutes-past-your-res-time-looking-awkward-by-the-bar good. Friend got the MP lobster, which was a really sad dish of just a poorly overcooked lobster chopped in half. I had really high expectations for this restaurant but it really, really sucked. The ambiance was beautiful and the decor was tasteful too, it just wasn't worth the time that we waited, and we weren't even full after the meal. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say that we ordered the wrong dishes, but they were just too mediocre. Will not be coming back. read more

This is a great place for dinner. We were first - arriving early for our 5pm reservation after theater (Purlie Victorious, with Leslie Odom Jr. - that's worth its own rave review but for now, just this!). Anyway, they open at 5 and we made it there about 445. The staff was helpful and generous with their time despite that we interrupted their tasting meeting. We sat at the bar and had a couple drinks. They have Athletic NA beer which is a good first sign, but I went for the Red Juice which was dee-lish-ous. Beet, ginger, carrot, etc. and really scrumptious. We had kale salad and tuna tartare for starters. The kale salad had this slightly spiced, gentle, tangy dressing that was perfect. The kale was chopped small and was properly massaged -- I highly recommend that salad. Then cheeseburgers (properly cooked just as we'd ordered them), a wood-oven fired whole wheat margarita pizza (yummy toothsome crust) and the ravioli. Quote from the ravioli orderer: "I'm glad they gave me a spoon because I'm not leaving one drop of that marinara sauce." the pizza and burgers were delightful. We didn't leave one iota. Also they kept our water glasses full which was appreciated. Only non-serious comments on where dinner could have been one degree better: no salt/pepper on table (I know, I know, they all do this now), and a friend asked for onions for her burger and weirdly could not get them? odd thing to not have around. On the other hand, who cares because the food was so good. Then we ordered dessert which was nuts due to how much we'd already consumed. But it was worth it. Chocolate layer cake with tiny little malted milk balls on it and a marshmallow frosting MMM. also a molten chocolate cake and carrot cake got rave reviews. And the waiter brought us a complementary plate of cookies, which initially looked insane due to all the dessert on the table, but don't you know we all ate em. We didn't get to the rainbow cookie but the snickerdoodle and chocolate chip were lovely with our cappacinos. I only took the one picture of the least visually interesting part of the meal because i was too busy enjoying the food to document it. read more

A dimly lit atmosphere pairs well with dishes that are packed with flavor. The pastas are the highlight here, with varieties all suited for vegetarians. The mafaldine was my favorite, with the campanelle with ricotta salata coming in at a close second! read more

Do i need to wear a collared shirt?
No you dont. But i recommend that you avoid this place. Its bellow average, treat yourself to one of the great places NYC has to offer and dont waste your time on this one.
Is it good for kids have a 1.5 and 4 yr old?
Although there isn't a kids menu, you could go for lunch. The vibes at the restaurant for dinner are more dark and intimate which could make your kids' time less fun.
Can we take a 3.5 year old kid for dinner?
I didn't see any children when I went. However, it's not super fancy, so you should be okay
