I ordered the Flounder Franchise. It was the worst Franchaise dish I ever ordered!!!!! It looked like a scrambled egg with a 3 tablespoons of a tastless cream sauce. Horrible!!!!! I sent the dish back and ordered a cheeseburger... ...my table of 7 have already finished their meal and I still have not eaten!!!!! I received an apology from the manager saying that they have a large party attending to. In my opinion.....I was here FIRST its a BURGER for God's sake!!!! My friends at the table are also horrified of this service!!!!! We came here before a comedy show we are going to and all I had to eat was Bread and Butter and a glass of wine. I've eaten dinner here during both vacations to Venice and I will always continue to come back! This most recent visit, the special was coconut crusted grouper and it was TO DIE FOR. I'll be dreaming of that every day moving forward. Our waitress was the sweetest woman and she is also the bartender. Our drinks were delicious with perfect ratios and the bread is always incredible. We decided to try Abby's this weekend. When we got to Venice, we found the Art show was going on this weekend, oh well. We got to Abby's and were seated within minutes, place was very crowded due to Art Show. Our waiter was a nice young man, although he was running around, he took good care of us. we asked what the soup of the day was, he was not sure and asked another server who thought it was a chicken soup. I went with the clam chowder and my wife went with the chicken soup. my clam chowder was very good, when my wife got hers it was not chicken soup, it was a soup with a tomato base and she did not care for it, no problem, waiter took it off the bill. I went with a monte cristo and my wife with a BLT. mine came out fine, my wife got a rueben served to her. waiter took it back and replaced with a BLT. Although there were mistakes with our meals it was still a pleasant experience and good food when they got it right. read more

Came here with my parents for lunch. They have draft beer and we ordered fried fish, tacos and a Greek burger. Servings were nice and big. Food was tasty. Abby's is one of Venice's hidden gems. Most of the tourists miss the part of Miami Ave, so, even though it is busy during season-it's not as nuts as some. I've been for both breakfast and dinner and each time, food and service has been excellent. I also like that their menu is a bit different than what most here offer, and...it isn't Italian! (Which seems to be the most prevalent restaurant type here). Our waitress was great but the food was not good enough for a return visit. The coconut shrimp had no coconut on it, none at all. Really enjoyed our late morning b'fast here & we would definitely like to return. The servers & staff all work masks (thank you!). We chose this restaurant based on the menu on their website. This included a number of delightful-sounding seafood breakfast items - crab or lobster omelettes and Benedict's, etc. when we got there, we were presented with a "summer menu" that included none of these selections. In fact, there was nothing on the menu that was particularly interesting. I decided to make the best of the situation and ordered an egg white omelette with all the available vegetables. It came made with whole eggs. I brought this to the waiter's attention. Not being a fan of food waste, I accepted it. I would describe the quality as average. Despite the fact that there were very few diners present, at no time did the manager stop by, although I did overhear him apologizing for some sort of incident over the telephone. It is not difficult to keep an online menu up to date, nor is it too much to ask for a manager to check on diners' experience, especially when the restaurant is not busy. I do visit Venice Beach, Florida from time to time, but I don't envision visiting Abby's again. read more

Went to Abby's. Not my first visit at all but it was both my friends first time. One friend ordered the seafood puttanesca, the other soup and salad and I ordered a burger. I finished my water completely before the waiter brought out the soup but he didn't notice, just left the soup and walked off. When the food comes, the seafood puttanesca sauce taste like thick salty pizza sauce. :( The burger was not good. The salad and soup were ok. The waiter asked how the food was. My friend said the seafood dish was horrible. He just said ok and immediately walked off. The waiter then remained missing most the time. We finally had to ask someone to go find him to get the bill. When he came back with it he asked if we wanted anything else and how the food was. I asked him if he was new, since I hadn't seen him there before, he replied no. We told him the seafood dish was horrible and he told him that right after he brought it out. He said no he said it was fine. I said that was the second time you came with my water and he was just fed up after you walked off the first time and did nothing. He still never went to get a manager or anything. Just took the card rang it and hid at the bar area as we left. Definitely not the typical experience I've had at this restaurant for wait staff or for the food choices I've made prior. This visit was however extremely disappointing and my friends definitely have zero plans to return. I doubt after the service here and the food this time I will not be returning either. ALLERGY SUFFERERS, BEWARE! This place left a bad taste on my plate and in my mouth. We ended up at Abby's on Miami after the restaurant where we had originally wanted to eat was closed. With a complete lack of other options, we decided to try our fare here. The hostess seemed eager to seat us until I told her that a member of our party had a severe egg allergy. She immediately started to say things like: "Well, it will be very difficult for us to accommodate your allergy on such a busy night." (WTF?) Her words made me uncomfortable but I figured if I explained to our server/the chef that my son would go into anaphylactic shock if he consumed egg, the staff would take his allergy seriously and exercise any and all precautionary measures to protect him. NOPE! SURPRISE! The first thing I noticed when I bit into my food was the distinct taste of MAYONNAISE! Even though the dish had been prepared "egg free," they had still smothered the entire thing in a pound of mayonnaise! What chef doesn't know that the primary ingredient in mayonnaise is EGG?! When I told our waiter that there was egg in my food, his voice was a flat and apathetic: "Oh. Sorry." WHAT THE LITERAL F*CK? This place is a joke and the food is mediocre at best; save yourself the time, money, and acid reflux-- Find a place where the chef knows how to cook and the staff gives a damn about whether or not they kill an innocent child with their negligence. read more

As newcomers to the area we are trying out the restaurants in downtown Venice. We came across Abby's without a reservation. The restaurant wasn't full with guests and we were immediately seated. A pianist was playing some toons of old trying to give it some ambience. The place was clean, though with not much of a view. The waitress was very friendly and the food came out quickly. We chose a bottle of red wine which was a bit pricey for the young wine in it. I ordered the beef medallions with the baked sweet potato. The beef was cooked to my specifications but the taste was a little bland. My wife ordered a salad with fish which she gave it the thumbs up. We would definitely go back to try something different from the menu but, not at the top of our list of restaurants in downtown Venice. read more

We didn't have a reservation but they made room for us, so grateful. Tip: Come a bit later. The place opens up at 7pm. Overall, great food, good drinks, okay desserts. I have been here a couple times now. The food is pretty good. I like the buffalo wings and the French dip was pretty good. Both times the service was a little slow and my drink didn't get refilled. We stopped for an early dinner here because it was more quiet eating outside rather than a restaurant on Venice ave. It was just very average. I had chicken parmigiana and it was quite bland. My wife had the kale salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked nicely but the "kale salad" was basically just kale with nothing much else. The bread served was very fresh and warm. A belated Birthday celebration brought my friends and I to this restaurant and we were very happy with food and service. My one friend ordered the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES for her appetizer and my other friend and I shared MUSSELS in wine sauce with garlic bread. Amazing is the word that comes to mind! I ordered the soup of the day ASPARAGUS SOUP (one of my favorites) but unfortunately had to send it back because it definitely tasted sour, so that was a disappointment. One friend ordered CRAB CAKES as her entree, another friend wanted SEAFOOD ALFREDO which was served with a lobster tail on top, beautifully presented and he ate every bite, obviously loved it. I too loved my choice of entree, which was SHRIMP WITH CHEESY GRITS, very tasty and I took emptied my plate. Gladly recommend this place. Service by Joe was friendly and efficient too. read more
