This was an absolute delight! We popped into here, referred by our close friends, and were so glad that we did! Once you walk in you're greeted like family. Pam, the hostess was so kind and attentive. Charles our server was excellent! He knew what we needed and wanted before we even could ask for it. Well - We haven't been here since last year:) - And wanted to see if the food was still as good as it was before. Ordered the Taylor Pork Roll (Taylor Ham for us Jerseyans!!) with cheese on a Kaiser roll with a side of their home potatoes- Excellent as always!! Kris our server was super great making sure we did not run out of coffee. The place always gives you that warm welcome feeling. This place was listed as #1 on Yelp for breakfast and that is exactly what it was. The place is small, but we were quickly seated on a Tuesday of New Year's Eve. We decided to sit at the bar and were quickly served. Our waitress never let our glasses get empty! My husband had the OG pile up and I had 2 eggs. My order looked like it had 4 eggs and there were so many home style potatoes! I ordered bacon as the side and they gave me 6 pieces. We experienced Sweet's Diner a few years ago and would make it a point to eat here when we were over that way (from Englewood). Then Covid and the girl running into the restaurant closing it down for quite some time, kept it out of action, so it's been a while for us. I was so very happy to learn that they reopened and was anxious to have a hearty breakfast here. I was seated promptly and told one of the ladies that I was so glad that they were back. She responded with an extremely warm greeting of having me back as well with a big hug. I've never been treated so much like family at a restaurant! No on to biz..............breakfast started with coffee served quickly and a small bowl of 3 mini muffins. I was hungry and consumed those quickly - very tasty. My eggs benedict and potatoes arrived in a reasonable time, hot and fresh. I am an eggs benedict sauce snob when it come to flavor. It was a relief to find that they had not changed this recipe since my last visit years ago. This sauce has a slight lemon flavor that sets it apart from other restaurants. We had a large party in the small establishment, but the service was very nice and appreciated. I went with the chicken and waffle pile up ($11?). It contained half a waffle, 3 chicken tenders, 2 eggs any style, and home fries with sausage gravy poured over everything. It was very large with a little too much sausage gravy, but luckily the gravy was tasty. The waffle was fluffy while the chicken tenders were crispy. I went with poached eggs and they were cooked appropriately. It was just a very hearty and fulfilling dish. I also tried the Philly cheesesteak pile up and no complaints there. Will I go back? WOW! This is an amazing place to grab a breakfast. Crowded on weekends and one visit will show you why. The omelets are done perfectly and offered in a variety of types. Those home fried potatoes are cooked to a toasty brown and not the slightly cooked and warmed up type many restaurants serve. I had the philly-cheesesteak omelet and it was perfect. My wife tried the farmer's omelet and thoroughly enjoyed it. Portions are generous too. It had been closed for weeks following a car driving into the building, but they are back with a passion to serve some great breakfast and lunches. Service is great even when crowded. I got the 5 oz. steak and eggs. The steak was well prepared but had a lot of gristle. The sunny side up eggs were done correctly. I ordered rye toast but was served wheat toast which wasn't toasted. The steak knife I was given had dried food on it. I could tell that the waiter saw the dried food but did not offer to change it out. The dried food was so evident that the fellow at the next table (the tables are very close together) offered me his knife.
