I want to start this off by saying this was the best taro milk tea I've ever had hands down. Gotcha is a new boba place that opened in Cypress and while many areas are starting to get saturated, it seems this area is still pretty fresh. This location is located in a plaza that had plenty of other businesses and I had no trouble finding parking. The inside decor was pretty nice and typical of your top boba shops in SoCal. I didn't really expect this coming from a place in Cypress but these were some of the best boba drinks I've ever had. I went with a group of friends and we tried each other's drinks and was pleasantly surprised by how good every drink was. The one that stood out to me most was the taro milk tea. While most places use powdered taro, this was definitely fresh and unique as you could taste and see the actual taro used in the drink. The matcha latte would be my 2nd favorite. I like a strong matcha that is not too sweet and this really hit the spot for me as well. Those two really stood out as good because it's more rare to find these two made well especially from the same shop. I don't get the hype of Gotcha. 1. When I walked in the store with another person, the cashier gave us the deadest look humanly possible. It was like as if the doors opened by themselves and nobody came in and she was just staring at nothing. No smile. No greeting. She silently and emotionlessly stared at us all the way up to us reaching her counter. 2. When my friend asked what's a "M.O.M," with the same enthusiasm as before , the cashier said "it's number 66 on the board." And that's it. 3. Another server informed us The cheese foam topping We ordered is being made right now, and the wait is 2-5 minutes. And we waited, which is totally cool w us. 4. Drinks: My matcha latte with cheese foam was the worse matcha drink I've ever had. (Other places I've tried: Gongcha, Omomo, Sharetea, Tbaar, 7 Leaves, and the likes). The freshly made cheese foam was thin and chunky. There were solid bits of cheese foam, my first time experiencing such things...and the taste was horrendous. Chunky Pediasure (the kid nutritional milk) is what it tasted like. So if you're into that, go for it. The matcha itself was uneven, with a grainy texture. I did not finish my drink. My friends drink, I forgot what it was, had tea that tasted like the cheap green tea from 85 degrees, for twice the price. 5. Presentation. My drink came in a dirty cup. It wasn't until I left that I notice my hand holding the cup is sticky with some kind of white cream. I'm guessing it's the cheese foam that spilled out. Got the brown sugar milk tea! It was exactly how I like it. The boba was a consistent chewy texture. It was not old or broke apart easily. They came in one size and the lids had different size punctures for your straw or to sip. The girl at the counter was super nice even thou I took forever to order because I didn't know what I wanted. She answered all my questions and was super patient. I was hoping for a strong Vietnamese ice coffee, but they didn't have it. My girlfriend really enjoyed her Rose milk tea. Bring cash!! Its because they'll charge if you don't meet the minimum. These credit card companies take a percentage of their sales for every card swiped. I was hoping for a nice hint of coffee to it since Tiramisu is traditionally a coffee-based dessert. But the drink was actually pretty bland & I had a hard time even catching what flavor it was meant to have. There was absolutely no other tea place in the vicinity because it was all businesses! So it's nice that they finally opened up a decent tea shop in the area. Generally, when you order taro milk tea, you can totally tell that it's made out of power. BUT NOT HERE!! The taro milk tea here is made with fresh taro and all their teas are brewed to the order! That means that they don't pre-brew the teas and have it sit around all day. Each drink is made with fresh tea leaves. This was one of the best taro milk tea I've had! I also took a couple sips of my sister's mixed fruit tea. If you are looking for a light and refreshing drink, this is for you! My hubby was craving a cup of iced coffee from Starbucks. Gotcha caught my eyes as we pulled into the parking lot. I learned that it's soft opening this week as I was paying & saw 30% slashed off my bill automatically all week this week. You get 30% off with a yelp check-in but you can always save it to come back another day. Kerri was wonderful helping me at the register to get what I wanted even though their menu is very easy to look at in a glance. I've had milky products all day so I decided to go with something refreshing. Kerri suggested a peach green tea. She also recommended their unique topping with is the gummy bear lychee. Yes! It's lychee bits in the shape of a gummy bear! Too cute!!! I like to taste my tea over the flavor. To be honest; their tea at 25% percent may be perfect for the general population but it was way too sweet for my taste. It was not a problem at all. The staff were all very attentive to making it fit my taste so they took my drink back to add more plain green tea to balance. Now it's refreshing & perfect! I couldn't be more happy with the taste & exceptional customer service. I love supporting small businesses. I learned from Kerri that Gotcha is a franchise. This is store number 2 in the United States. The first location is in San Diego. They also have other locations in Asia where their tea concept started. During these uncertain times, I am still trying to help local businesses and this boba place is one of them. On one of my daily quests, I ventured out to seek a place where they are open and operational and in terms of the safety and health precautions, I am taking full duty in wearing gloves and face masks if I do go out. This place was pretty empty and I've been here 2 times now. Very affordable and would seem like a great place to hang out if we were only able to sit and chat. One of the key points is that they are still operational with a full menu and I appreciate it because I've been to a couple places where they limit the amount of items on the menu or change their store hours to be half day. Wintermelon green tea is so good, went twice in one day. My coworkers tried the signature milk, almond milk tea and lychee tea, which they said were all good. Went back again after dinner with the fam and we tried their mango smoothie with sparkling boba, mixed fruit tea with rainbow jelly and chocolate milk tea. Happy with all of them! The quality of the tea and the drinks were really good. Typically, we would drive all the way to Rowland heights for this type of tea so I am happy there's one close by now. The price ranges around $4+ which is typical for good quality tea/boba. The place is simple and clean. Staff are very nice. Parking can be tight. Another great boba place. I wish boba places would open earlier, but I found that most open around 11am. I stopped by because I was in the area. I got the peach green tea, and I really enjoyed the flavors. There was a strong tea flavor, which I liked. I was debating whether to try the tea slush, but opted for what I knew. I wish I had the ability to give the place 0 stars. Your another trash location that's refusing to take US, cash because u don't have change to cover for the days business and no bill over a certain. Why n the world does the US Government print money that no one takes? Someone explain that one to me. The prefer a credit/debit card to make transactions. The girl with the glasses was super nice and walked me through the different kinds of teas and add on's they had. She also was kind enough to ask and change my tea to how how sweet I like and did not like. That's a plus considering you are paying for something you want to enjoy. They do have a variety of teas, milk teas and smoothies to choose from. Also they have a different add on variety to choose from versus just your standard boba. The reason I gave it a 4 rating was because they ran out of their gummy bear boba. I guess it lychee flavored jelly looking bears as add on. In fact, they used to be called Gotcha Teahouse, but changed the name recently. This is the one place that I can order a Honeydew Green Tea that doesn't taste like it has been processed through a factory. When it was Gotcha Teahouse, customer service was likable, but the last two times at AB Teahouse, the cashier wasn't particularly all there. But I won't dock a star just because someone was having a bad day, that day. The interior is sort of dark and plays KPOP music 99.9% of the time, but I am not complaining (since I know half of the songs they play, but don't understand the lyrics).
