Took my dog a couple times and both times she came back with scares and scared. Do not bring your animals here. They'll leave them in small cages all day and get to them when they can. They overbook. While wintering in Mesa we've been having our Maltese groomed here and have been satisfied with the results. This is a popular salon that is consistently busy and rightfully so considering how beautiful all the dogs look when then leave. The talent here is undeniable but I had one concern that will prevent me from returning. It appears that several employees will handle various aspects of the grooming process. This isn't something I prefer, but I understand the need to delegate in order to keep a high volume salon running efficiently. Here are the facts- my female Maltese is named PJ. Everyone I've encountered here has referred to her as a boy and it is apparently noted on her profile in their computer as well. My first couple of visits I pointed this out but let the subject rest because this is about my dog and she doesn't care what you call her. Honestly, neither do I but this is a telling sign in regards to the communication protocols amongst staff. The young woman at the desk never changed it on her profile. Whoever bathed her never changed it on her profile. Her groomer never changed it on her profile. Whoever finishes her accessory never changed it on her profile. I know this because she consistently is referred to as he and always leaves with a blue bandana. One of two things is happening here. Either records for the pet are not being provided for staff or the records are not being reviewed by staff. I could not care less about the blue bandanas, but if she had an injury or another physical concern, not having every single person who handles her aware of it could become a tragedy. Sooooo......buckle in kids, this is gonna be a read, I am super upset with the whole situation. I am super NOT stoked on this place. The place I took my dog before was booked, so I decided "Hey, lemme see what Yelp has to offer".... *insert me seeing Aardbark Grooming here* So I call, I know it's busy this time of year with the holidays and such, and they were able to get me in. Great! Appointment on Friday at 930 am, got it! Friday rolls around, I am excited to get my dog groomed, she was lookin a little ruff, time for a much needed spawday. So I get there, I see one of the groomers outside, he's polite enough, tells me he's not grooming my dog, cool beans. I go inside, nobody at the front. A lady finally walks out and says, Lady: "did you talk to him?" Me: "yes" Lady: did you tell him what you wanted?" Me: "no, he informed me he's not my groomer today" So, once this exchange happens, mind you I was never greeted, no hello, nada....she asks who my dog is. Ok great. A young lady comes out and starts talking to me, let's me know she's going to groom my dog. It's at this point I let her know my dog is... 1. A rescue 2. Not the greatest at getting groomed (like "hey she REALLY sucks at this just a heads up") So I proceed to tell her what cut I would like for my dog, she never asked, even showed her a couple photos so she had a reference of what I wanted her cut to resemble. Then I asked her name, as she never introduced herself. The last thing I asked was how long this will take, to which she replied "no more than 4 hours". Ok. So I hand my little lady over to the groomer, she is just scared shaking, I've never seen her like this, EVER. Cue the knot in my tummy. **Three hours later** It's now 12:30 I call and check the status of the groom, they tell me they're behind because "they have a bunch of big dogs". Then ask if I want a call 15 min before they're done and I said yes, they asked me this before I left but apparently that wasn't communicated. *2 hours later* I left my house because I was worried, it had been 5 hours at this point. My dog is 5 pounds. On the way to go pick her they finally call to let me know she's done and read to be picked up. I arrive and there are a few others getting their dogs so I wait. So they ask who my dog is, I tell them, and the groomer comes out. Not with my dog, just to collect a payment before I've even seen the cut. So I say "I'd like to use this Yelp coupon", 7$ off. Haha. Sure why not. So then this older woman comes out with my dog, she lets me know she helped groom my dog (she's a sassy one, but obviously something is up if it takes 2 people for a tiny dog). Then she proceeded to tell me she "knicked my dog in the spot they always get knicked". So this is where things are absolutely not ok, why was I not informed of my dog being injured when it happened? She told me it happened 10 min before they called me, which means my dog sat there not being groomed for hours. The older lady was super rude. They didn't seem to care that they cut her, they just said that she was moving around a lot. They never apologized either. Also, if my dog was so hard and impossible to groom why didn't they just call me and say they can't do it? I'd much rather have them tell me they can't groom her because she isn't behaving then attempt to groom her and stress her out more and then injure her. I worked with groomers previously, so I've had to make hard calls like that. It's hard but it's better than the "surprise I cut your pet!". I walked out in tears with a stressed out little dog. I highly suggest NOT bringing your animal here, they don't have the compassion for an animal or their owners. I'd rather wait weeks for the other groomers who said she was a brat but didn't injure her and gave her the hair cut I asked for. Please learn how to handle dog and people better, you'll be able to stay open another 30 years. Sorry for the extremely long review. read more

I will never come here again. Dropped off my pup for his appointment at 12pm. Was told they would call me when he was ready. 5pm came and i still hadn't heard from anyone. I called over and over and over. I started to panic as i went to their website and saw they close at 5pm. I drove as fast as i could STILL CALLING and got no answer. I walk in and my dog is the only dog in the place STILL BEING TRIMMED and he was absolutely TERRIFIED! I asked why he was not done yet as i had dropped him off at noon and the girl rudely replied "we got busy" and told me it would be another HALF HOUR until my dog was ready. Mind you my dog is a 18lb MINI GOLDENDOODLE. He does NOT take 5+ hours to do a full groom. My dog was shaking he was so scared. It was pretty obvious this place kept my dog in a kennel and WAITED 5 HOURS TO START GROOMING HIM! The least they could have done was send some kind of update or call. But to just not answer the phone and let hours go by without communicating with me? And No apologies from the girl grooming him as she sees I'm clearly upset? Absolutely horrible experience and bad management. NEVER again. read more

I was recommended this place by a friend. I needed a new groomer for CocoBear who would be more caring since she gets scared easily and gets nippy at times. My old groomer rarely answered the phone and would take days to get back if they even did for an appointment but I was greeted on the phone right away by a very sweet lady who collected all of my information and schedule the appointment early. I was able to e-sign some paperwork she emailed right away to me with no problems. When I dropped off Cocobear I saw the place was clean and was greeted by a very friendly woman who was booking more appointments. I could see the stations where some other dogs were being groomed which made me feel comfortable because the dogs were being treated well and did not seem stressed at all. Cocobear was scared and shaking like normal because she does not like grooming. The groomer Leorra introduced herself and was so sweet and listened to my warning about Cocobear being fussy and the kind of teddy bear cut we like on her and that she needed to be shaved down a little from some matting. Leorra was so sweet and made a connection with Coco before she took her away. She told me it would be about 3 hours and would call me 30 minutes before she was ready to be picked up. They called about 2 hours later. I actually walked in when they were finishing up and saw her grooming Cocobear. This is the first time I actually saw Cocobear relaxed and happy and just letting herself be trimmed without looking stressed or upset!!! This made me so happy. We have two short haired dogs that require a good scrub and nail trim about every three to four weeks. Our puppies have never been so soft and clean before. I'm writing this review 4 days after they were washed and still soft and fluffy coats. You can tell they use high quality soaps and take pride in their work. Our beagle mix has dark nails and they are trimmed perfectly. Our Chihuahua is silky smooth. Our groomer is Leora and she's so gentle with out puppies and you can tell she loves her job. I took Maverick to PetSmart last year to be groomed when he was a puppy, and he absolutely hated it. The people there were rude and short, because he got nervous and peed a little bit during drop off. When we picked him up, he was shaking and lethargic the rest of the day. We haven't gotten him groomed since. Well I took my boy in here today, and was SO impressed and pleased with the staff! I called last week to make an appointment and immediately liked them, when the girls said "what's your baby's name?" I could just tell she loved dogs, and it made me hopeful that it would be a good experience. We had a 9 a.m. appointment, and the girl at the front was so sweet and immediately put me at ease. He peed a little bit out of nerves, and she laughed it off, and wasn't angry at all. She let him play with the other dogs before his appointment began, and assured me she would call as soon as she was done. An hour and fifteen minutes later, she called to tell me he was just about done! When I picked him up, he was happy and playful, and his tail wouldn't stop wagging. I was so glad he had a good experience! They gave him a little Halloween bandana, and a treat, and the girl told me how amazing he did. I am so glad I found this place, and am excited to take him back again! Once we got home, I wished I had the same shampoo they use, because it smelled so good! I feel like I dropped him off to a salon, more than a groomer! Thank you guys for your amazing job! I could really tell every person loved the dogs they were working on; everyone was cooing over this tiny Maltese with a pink bow, saying "you're so beautifullll" before they knew I was standing there. And she said or "you can take her home , brush her hair and bring her back or I will charge you 100 dlls. ( what a disrespectful way to talk to a customer) and she did shave her any ways. She came back all her hair sheared with some long hair in her face a non even hair cuts al over her neck, head, body and paws. When I pick her up she was crying and cryed all the way home. For me it was so weird because my dog is a happy dog. My other dog she took care, said she didn't cut her nails because she bites, which never does have that behavior before. She is always well behaved.Even though she charge me full price... And my other dog came with all her ears dirty. I am very disappointed on todays service. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. came here for a walk in nail trim for my 50lbs black lab mix. A woman came up to the front and I told her that my dog didn't like getting her nails trimmed and she was very wiggly and would try to get away. I told her that previous groomers had put her up on a table or had gotten down on the floor with her to trim her nails. She completely ignored me and had another employee pick my dog up. Of course, my dog start wiggling and flailing so badly that the person almost dropped her. When I voiced my concern at this method she gave me a snotty look and said "this is how all groomers do it". They proceeded to almost drop my dog several times before they eventually put her on the floor and clipped her nails the way I initially said. I get that it's difficult to clip my dogs nails because of how much she flails but they were just beyond rude to me and carless with my pet. Never coming back here again and I'm sure my dog, who didn't like getting her nails clipped before, certainly hates it now. read more

I decided to give Aardbark a try after a not so great experience at my usual groomer, and seeing beautiful post-grooming photos of my friend's pup. I made the appointment with no problems getting them in that coming weekend. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door stating that only one customer/family was allowed in the lobby at a time due to COVID, and that masks were required. I completely respected that. When we went in, the staff were all masked up but friendly as can be. I could see dogs on tables being groomed and they looked pretty happy. When our groomer, Kristal, came out to meet us she asked how we wanted our babies groomed. She was so attentive, gentle and sweet to our pups that our toy schnauzer, Bonnie (aka the Bonster Monster), who is extremely high strung and anxious got very quiet and calm. It was as if she was a dog whisperer LOL! When I picked my kids up, Kristal told me that the Bonster was an "angel on the table". I could hardly believe it. Both of my pups were beautiful. They smelled good, too - not overly perfumey - and their toenails were cut nicely, too. The price was fair, and while they don't do multi-dog discounts, they gave me a coupon for $7 off my next visit. We will absolutely be back again!!! read more

I have taken my maltipoo here for two years. I had tried a couple of other places that just shaved her to the bone. My friend recommended this place, and I was so happy that our groomer took the time to actually groom my dog, not shave. Last month I found out that she had moved. I was hesitant to try someone new. I gave it three stars only because the location wasn't stellar , it's on a busy road and construction. The groomer seemed nice and very friendly and it took them about four hours on moms poodle . The cut was actually kinda cute but not for a small poodle . The dog is now sporting a fro and her ears look like pigtails . I did giggle all the way to my moms. She says she'll find a new place, not thinking it was all that funny . I had them trim my chihuahuas nails also and they managed to miss about a quarter of then . Most places charge 10 dollars to trim just her nails , they charged 5 but didn't cut half so I guess we can call it even . read more

Love this place!! Found it via recommendations from neighborhood Facebook group & after seeing positive Yelp reviews, decided to reach out. They were very responsive with my Yelp messages, so we made an appt for our Goldendoodle puppy. She's been to Logan twice & both times comes home beautiful, smelling great & most importantly seems happy. They let us know when she's ready so we can pick her up & it seems they schedule appointments appropriately so dogs aren't sitting in crates all day. Today, when she got picked up a little late due to miscommunication Logan had just let her hang out with him out of the kennel since she was so happy & mellow (she's crate trained so nbd to be crated, but thought it was sweet that he let her hang out). He's been super helpful in providing tips to keep her in best condition in between visits (comb recommendation, etc) & today even gave us his own dogs collar as he recommended leather instead of hers to keep from matting. Talk about going above & beyond!!! We'll keep coming back & bringing our baby, Snickers, to see Logan often. It's very nice that they custom charge based on dog's current needs and how much time that involves. For example it's cheaper for us to bring Snickers often for minor upkeep, even if she'll only need a "real cut" every 2-3 visits than waiting til she's out of control. As a first time Doodle owner, I'm grateful for their expertise & taking time to educate us and give options which helps make the groomer-owner relationship the best it can be! (The "poofy" look is just from being blow dried & thoroughly brushed out... she goes back to the normal cute doodle look within a day or so after her appt. My wife and I relented and decided it was time to get our Goldendoodle Finnegan groomed for the first time. We were not disappointed with Kristal at Aardbark. She was very kind and courteous to us and not to mention patient with our giant 52lb puppy. He might weigh a little less after the cut. She kept us informed with phone calls the entire way to let us know what our options were and accommodated a special request on the cut of his face that we are very pleased with. At $69, it was very comparable and competitive with other groomers. We will definitely return. read more
