I've been here twice recently to take care of some DMV-related issues and both times I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I made online appointments each time, but went in much earlier in case they could take me earlier. The first time, I checked in, sat down for literally a second, and then was called. The next time, there were three people ahead of me and I waited about five minutes. The people who helped me were friendly and competent, and even the few strangers in the waiting area seemed to be super nice--making small talk with each other and wishing each other good morning. I think we were all just happy to not be in the miserable place that is the DMV. read more

I arrived at AAA at 3:40 pm to change a car into my name , DMV services and wait time are awesome!! Kudos for that service!! However I needed to add vehicle to my policy and it is now 5:38 pm and they close at 6. No one has rushed to help me out while I wait, the guy at the front greeting people could have been trained to offer people quotes. There's another lady coaching the guy in the front about alarm systems and just ignoring the fact I am sitting at their lobby. Maybe more trained agents would help or train the DMV clerks to assist to alíviate wait time. I won't be coming back anytime soon to make changes at this branch. read more

This branch is a complete mess. I have tried to register a scooter here THREE TIMES. They keep having conflicting information as to how I can register this stupid scooter. And then after 3 denials they told me to "just go to the dmv" even though now I will be paying penalties for the late fees associated with registering it after the purchase date. Thanks AAA! No one at this branch has any consistent information. 1) the first time they did not provide me the form I needed. 2) they seem to close early based on how much they feel like working. I showed up 45 minutes ahead of closing time and they all REFUSED to let me in despite being SOME 45 MINUTES FROM THE CLOSING TIME. I worked in retail for a decade and would have been fired if I had done that. 3) they gave me conflicting info and misled me regarding signatures. the owner I bought it from is in NYC indefinitely and literally can't sign the forms except digitally. They stated any signature would be fine. I show up a THIRD time. Surprise surprise, that form isn't valid anymore. Guess I have to "just go to the dmv"! Well what's the point of my membership then??? Milton is a wonder AAA agent and he exceeded my expectations of AAA auto insurance customer service. Taking care of urgent manners during COVID is such a hassle. With COVID protocols and guidelines, a lot of procedures are out of our control. They keep their door locked to help facilitate the crowd, so not too many people are allowed in to enforce social distancing. That's the norm nowadays - especially with companies, and it is what it is. I went there on a Saturday and one of the staff members had to write my name on the clipboard (kind of old school, but oh well I guess). Which surprised me because most places have a waitlist on a iPad or something more visual to check on. What kind of disappointed me is that she was able to give other people in line a rough ETA of when they will be helped, but not me. She said it's because there are different services, but I feel like she should know at least an overestimate based on similar services and situations, but oh well. I opted for text message updates. Luckily within 3 - 5 minutes, I was called in and was helped by Milton. Milton goes above and beyond with his customer services skills. I wanted to be added onto a family member's auto insurance plan. He helped me see the difference between doing that versus having my on auto insurance plan as a first time car owner. I didn't have an exact car in mind, but he was able to help me generate quotes. He asked me to update him along the way and gave me his business card. When the day came, I gave him a heads up about how I wanted to purchase the car we discussed. He was very easy to communicate to and even talked to me during his lunchtime. Upon purchasing my desired car at the car dealership, I called him and asked him to proceed. It was after 6pm I believe and he was finishing things up with another client. I wasn't too much in a rush, but I told him I was really hoping to finish things up tonight. I realized it was after his work hours too. He was able to complete my paper work online. He disclosed he was the last person at the office and they were closing up the office as Milton was finalizing everything. So eventually, he finished things up in his car, in the dark at around 7 or 8pm. Way beyond his work hours, so I can drive the car home that night. I got conflicting info from calling versus coming in person. I wouldn't have come if the person on the phone told me the notary was available by appointment only. The circumstances around why I even needed to visit AAA are pretty tragic and customer service rep was not empathetic. In fact, she made a point to be rude. I came here because I heard the waits were shorter than the branch closer to my house but I'd rather wait in line than get rude service. read more

So under the umbrella of COVID, they have reduced almost all member services. No out of state transfers and the usual social distancing pap requiring that all paperwork be completed in the parking lot. Fine. I had my senior mother with me, and then was given one more piece of paper to fill out AFTER reaching the DMV window. It took 30 seconds to fill out - so I socially distanced and filled it out. Some otherwise frustrated pedant wanted me to drag my senior mother outside for that exercise. I was done by the time he walked over to me but I left in order to avoid a larger conflict. I went in to AAA-Pinole to apply for DMV's Handicap Parking Placard. I came in with slight pain and with a visible cast on my left leg due to a recent achilles injury I had suffered. I also was using a knee scooter that day to help me with pain management. That morning, I just gone to Kaiser-Oakland (where my podiatrist is) to secure the necessary signatures for the DMV REG 195 form. I showed the application form filled out and signed by my podiatrist but AAA-Pinole staff flatly turned it down because note on my application was not "full or with clear description". My doctor wrote "Status Post Ankle Injury". Manager (Jennifer) told me note must have medical terms in it for it to be acceptable. As a person in obvious physical disability (visible cast, knee scooter and with medical note signed by my podiatrist) I felt small, unimportant most of all disrespected all because of some "technicality" with the injury wordings to which I think can be rectified considering the situation I was in. Disabled and trying my best managing my foot pain, I had to ask my wife to drive me back all the way to Kaiser-Oakland again just to have the application form re-worded in medical terms and/or with full description. To spare myself of potential stress, I went to AAA-Oakland instead and there they granted my Handicap Parking Placard application on the spot USING THE SAME application form I presented at AAA-Pinole (I brought the revised/reworded note from my doctor as back up)! I shared to AAA-Oakland staff my experience with AAA-Pinole and they profusely apologized. They said that I didn't have to go through that experience and they would've granted my application considering my situation. I find AAA-Pinole service for people with physical disabilities reprehensible, insensitive and downright hurtful! There should be accommodations or exceptions in place! read more

I had to renew my car registration. The whole experience was quick and very efficient. I made an a DMV appointment online. Then I showed up for my appointment and checked in with the person at the desk at the front door. I waited for about 2 minutes and then saw a DMV specialist. It took the DMV specialist about 5 minutes to process my registration and then I was walking out the door with both my registration certificate and sticker. read more

I visited the Pinole branch I was greeted upon entering. I had called ahead to ask a few questions the Customer Service Rep remembered me and my name (that added a personal touch) she cared enough to remember the callers of the day. I use a cane as I waited the Customer Service Rep checked in with me and also when they called my name she directed to the window and even ask if I needed a chair because that window don't use one. Using AAA for DMV registration renewal was very smooth. Front door clerk asked for my name and confirmed I wanted auto registration renewal and asked for form of payment. They accept debit cards, cash and credit cards with a 1.72% credit card surcharge to cover their costs. Staff were friendly and professional. I was called to the next window within two minutes and the transaction was very quick. Clerk asked if I was interested in an insurance quote. Entire visit took less than 10 minutes which is definitely worth saving a postage stamp and a visit to the Post Office. read more

I was assisted by Lissette Rodriguez she made my search for insurance so simple, everything was broken down to me, she provided me with different options and explained what everything meant. I came by to pick up a license plate my wife and I ordered months ago. i showed up at 3:45 pm and was told that my wife had to pick up the plate due to only her being named as the owner on the dmv form it has her and I listed as xxx or zzz. we are both in the title and registration. So I bring my wife back at 5:30 (They close at 6) and they tell us that they don't have time to process the plate and that it was too late (did I mention that they close at 6 and since I'm on the title and registration I COULD have picked it up hours ago?) What happened to this place??? When they were over at Hilltop they were great. A big part of the AAA membership is the DMV that they have. At Hilltop there was one line for DMV, one for everything else. In this location there's a check in, and they put you in some type of queue that makes no sense at all. It's Saturday, I checked in and I am first on line for DMV. I've been waiting now for 23 minutes. Why have a line??? Many people have gone ahead of me. I asked why and was told rudely by Paul "they're here for other things. Go sit down". If they're here for things other than DMV, then why are they at the DMV counter?? Other people are being called to see the insurance agents, so yes they're here for other things. I get that. I have been posted as #1 in line for DMV since I checked in when they opened at 9am. Yet here I sit. I've had auto and home insurance with AAA for 15 years, up until last month and roadside service. I just canceled insurance last month, because I got more coverage through my union for half the price. When my roadside expires in a couple of months, I won't be renewing that either. Roadside is included in my new insurance. Between the lack of customer service, and the rates for their insurance, I have no use for AAA anymore. They used to be a good company, but it looks like they're turning into every other company. They also really need to think about running Paul through some professional development on how to speak with customers, he's rude. He was rude with other people while I was there. He's either offering people an insurance quote and free coffee, tea or hot chocolate while they wait, or biting their head off if god forbid they ask a question. AAA get your act together. read more

Wait times are like the DMV. They under staff on Saturdays on purpose. They have a system where they take your name and out you on a waiting list. There's a monitor so you can see where your place is in line. But then they also have people who are put on the list and then notified by text message. Those people can leave and will get a text when their turn is close. However, can come back in whenever and bump the people in queue on the monitor down. So for those who are in the office, as your name makes it's way to the top, other names then pop up before yours so the wait time is much longer than what they tell you, and what it appears to be on the monitor. No reason for anyone to have to wait 2 1/2 hours for CSAA services. Avoid this location at all costs! read more
