We tried to schedule a car seat inspection last week. We called and left a message several times, including speaking with 3 separate service representatives from this AAA site. They reported leaving a message for the person and that we would receive a return call later that afternoon. A week later, none of our phone calls were returned. Although this service is an added benefit performed voluntarily, the complete disregard for our queries was unprofessional. If you are trying to schedule your car seat inspection, be aware that you will need to schedule at least 6-8 weeks in advance and that your phone calls may not be returned at all. The CHP, select fire departments and your hospital may be more responsive and will help you find alternative locations if those institutions have no availability. read more

This review is for Bill William Miller. Thank you for helping us sort out the mess that was done by our previous consultant. Our previous consultant singed us up for a home insurance policy that was not needed since we were already insured by the builder. We tried to get it cancelled for the longest time but there was no response from our agent in SF. I went into the AAA mnt view office and got help from Bill Miller. He helped me sorted it out within 10 mins. Also he also helped me fine tune my auto insurance policy to better fit my budget + renew it 4 months later. Keep in mind, Bill did all of this without getting any commission nor credit. This review is for that. We are trying to transfer to the mntview office for our primary location instead. I've been a member for ~30 years and had the worst experience one could ever imagine with AAA. They took 1.5 hours to come out ( this is the second time they took so long - double the time to service an issue in this last year) and 45 minutes later than they promised. Then they wanted $25 more than the $127.99 they promised for the new battery they quoted me over the phone. Later they stated the prices on the website are only a guideline and that prices could be significantly more, as much as $25 more than what is stated or promised, as they do not set the prices for their batteries. They use Ellison's a horrible company with a towing monopoly in Santa Clara county). AAA is a useless membership to keep as they do not stand behind their services or their products. Ellison's didn't want to provide the warranty discount they owed us as our battery was still under a 5 year warranty. My battery went from dead to suddenly revivable when they learned it was still under warranty. AAA's Supervisor Chris is a liar and a terrible person with no business acumen or integrity. He claimed AAA does not set the price for their batteries. He also promised to solve the communication disconnect, call me back, and to provide the warranty coverage I was under. Nothing materialized and he left me stranded. In fact Ellison's/AAA drove away without helping me when I needed a jump start and new battery to make my early evening flight. I contacted them at 7 am. They never came through to help. So much for the fake concern for a customers safety and well-being. They left me stranded. I never received Chris's call back - he left me stranded. I borrowed a friend's car and I went to Walmart and bought a new battery for $49. AAA wanted $150 for the equivalent battery. Chris's lack of integrity and his horrendous lack of integrity saved me $100 on a battery. Further, I intend to cancel all service with AAA and recover all fees paid for their lack of service. I suggest everyone does that as they clearly have no intention of standing behind their word, products or services. More disconcerting is that they left me unattended. Anyone with a new driver in the family or an elderly relative ought to find a much more trustworthy entity to put faith into when it comes to roadside assistance- AAA has absolutely no integrity and should NEVER be trusted. read more

If you use their DMV service to renew your registration you now have to pay an extra $4 transaction fee when they print out your sticker. I was unhappy about this, but when I went to the DMV website to see how much they charge to do an online renewal and send you the sticker in the mail, it was $29, so I guess $4 isn't so bad. Sometimes the line looks long but I've never waited more than 10 minutes. read more

He totally rocks customer service by following through on tasks, returning calls and emails promptly, and trying to save us money. I visited AAA because I recently switched my membership and insurance from Southern California to Northern California and needed to renew my vehicle registration. Unfortunately, the two systems are not connected (I can't believe that's possible in this day and age) and my new insurance information was never sent to the DMV, so I was unable to renew my vehicle registration online. There was no prompt on the DMV website asking for a valid policy number, just a notice saying that they didn't have proof of valid insurance and that I needed to work it out with my insurance company before I could register my vehicle. I called AAA several times after, worried that something had happened and that I might be driving without insurance, despite having paid for it. The first lady I spoke to said it might take a few more days for the info to get sent to the DMV (but my insurance policy was active). She said that if I called during normal business hours, AAA could call the DMV on my behalf to get the insurance issue resolved. I waited, tried to renew online again, and saw the same notice. Then I called AAA during working hours. They told me they couldn't call the DMV (misinformation?), but that I could avoid waiting in line by renewing my registration at the local AAA branch. Ok, AAA made a mistake, but at least I wouldn't have to pay for it by waiting 3+ hours in line to resolve the issue, since I had insurance with AAA. So I went to the AAA branch, spoke with the lady at the front desk about my registration issue (mentioned that I transferred my membership and insurance to Northern California and that the DMV said I didn't have insurance). She verified in person that I had insurance and directed me to the DMV line, which thankfully was not long. I spoke with the lady working at the DMV area (there was only one window open). I gave her my registration info and drivers license. She never asked me for my policy number and told me exactly what I already knew: that the DMV had no record of my insurance with AAA and that I would need to speak to an insurance specialist at the office. Then she went on break and no new window was opened. I spoke with the insurance specialist who told me that I should've been able to enter a policy number on the DMV website (not possible--misinformation again?) and printed out a copy of the insurance card that I already had on my phone. I questioned how valuable the card was because the card clearly indicates that having it doesn't mean I actually have insurance during the period of validity. I could have at any time canceled my insurance, and I'd still have my card with me... I told them I was skeptical that it would work, considering I already spoke with 4 people from AAA, none of whom were able to give me any clarity on my situation. I was getting frustrated, and one lady tried to diffuse the situation by saying "I'm only trying to help", but I felt very much like I was being schooled on what I should be doing when this debacle was clearly caused by AAA's poor infrastructure. Even the process of getting my membership and insurance transferred was much more pained than it ought to have been, and several agents didn't know what they could or could not do, so my call was transferred many times. Anyways, some lady in line called me rude, because she assumed I wanted to cut in front of her in the DMV line, when really, I had been running around in circles because of misinformation and misguidance at various AAA levels. I didn't really care that she went in front of me. I was just voicing my annoyance at AAA. After I let her line up in front of me, the lady at he DMV desk told me to go to the front because she already had my info on the system (I was the last person in line before she went on break). When I again voiced my skepticism, she proceeded to tell me that it was my fault for not showing her my insurance card. She never even gave me the opportunity to do so previously and just told me to wait in line to speak to the insurance agent (although I had told her my insurance transfer situation, which I had already repeated several times to AAA employees that I previously spoke to). I told her that she never asked me for the info, although I had it on hand, and the lady who called me rude made a sarcastic sound. I doubt my particular situation is common, but if my time is being wasted because of AAA infrastructure issues, I'd very much appreciate not feeling like I'm being blamed and being made to run around in circles. In general, AAA (and maybe even more so, the DMV) really needs to update their systems to work in the 21st century. Evidently, they can override DMV information at the DMV desk. I just find it hard to believe that they verified my insurance info at the front desk (before I went to the DMV line) and then told me that I had to get reverified because they couldn't see or verbally confirm my info at the DMV area 10 feet away. read more

I went there last year to renew my registration after my car was finally able to pass smog. I had to pay late fees for the previous year registration, but AAA processed it wrong and ended up charging me late fees for current registration as well. So once I looked at it closely I saw I had overpaid by $90. I then had to go to DMV where they gave me a form to fill out and send in to get my $ back. Needless to say it would have been more efficient to go to DMV in the first place. The AAA employee seemed rushed (even though no one else was in line) and didn't even offer to explain the charges, when I expressed surprise at how high the charge was. I was not happy at all. 5 stars for towing. The operator on the 1-800 number was friendly. Estimated time for the tow truck to reach me was 20-30 minutes, but it only took 5 minutes which really impressed me. The tow truck operator was friendly and knowledgeable and actually helped me to start my car so that I didn't even need to have it towed. AAA emergency road side assistance is definitely worth the money and even if you don't need to use it, peace of mind is priceless! read more

We planned a trip to Africa and asked for help with arrangements with AA travel agent inside the Mt. View office. She never did get back to use and left us hanging after several attempts to call her. read more

Just wanted to write about the superb service I always receive from Halin Chung, who works with my agent Melanie Yue. She is so efficient and takes care of my auto, home, membership renewal every year. I have auto and membership set up for auto renewal but not home so I call or email her every year during renewal time. She sends me all the docs that I need thru email attachment whenever I ask for them with my payment receipt. She also tries her best to give me promos on membership. She is so nice and so knowledgeable and very accommodating. With service like this, I will never switch to any other insurance (I had Allstate before). There was a glitch in the system last year where I was charge a little extra for membership since I got the promo and she took care of it asap and made sure I got the credit refund. I love working with Halin! What a great asset to AAA. I hope AAA treats her well so that she sticks around, I want to continue working with her every year! Thanks Halin!!! read more

A.A.A. INSURANCE SUCKS. Been 5 weeks since hit by their insured and unable to get adjuster Jillian Likness to contact us without threats of insurance commission complaints. Horrible customer service. We have witness and their insured admitted fault multiple times. He drove into the side of our car with the front of his car while we were in the fast lane. Fault is obvious. Shame on you Jillian Likness for dragging this out so long. Do your job. Get this handled. Does not even return calls to my insurance company. 5 WEEKS? Come on. My insurance co. said would have handled in a day or two. Don't waste your time with A.A.A. -- Get Farmers. They take care of their customers. **UPDATE - had some very nice people call me and the ball is now rolling for repairing my vehicle. Will continue to update and change rating as necessary. **update - car is finally fixed. I still cannot go higher than 3 stars just because of the way initially treated. terrible experience. hopefully you get someone who knows what he/she is doing. tried registering out of state vehicle. first agent pushed me off the second saying she doesn't know much, the second agent knew less! she tried turning me away 3 times, obviously she didn't meant much in her training. she was not knowledgeable at all. she kept saying she didn't know this and that and fake smiles. because she couldn't figure out an obvious issue she turned me away. lady, you should be doing all that you can to help me or at least know the basic necessities to lead me in the direct direction. the hour i wasted, i could have spent waiting at the DMV. oh bickering between employees in front of customers- not professional, bad attitudes get you no where. good luck! read more

When I recently purchased a home back in May 12, 2009, it was really stressful trying to do the home owners insurance shopping, mortgage process, document signing, different types of home inspections, title insurance company, etc all within a 14 day period. And when I say I shopped for homeowners insurance, I really meant I shopped as I have gotten no less than 1,000 quotes and being a senior member at fatwallet.com, someone mentioned American National Property and Casualty Insurance Company having the best rates so I went to anpac.com and then actually e-mailed every agent in Northern California that represented the company. Althouggh all of them replied, they were not very helpful even though there was only 1 day before the papers had to be signed at the title insurance company. Olga Ortmann was the only representative that was extremely competent, really went over the pricing of the insurance with a microscope and made sure I didn't overpay as there were some things I was interested in that was overkill and Olga O not only told me it was overkill but she actually wants to save clients money even though technically, her wallet would be bigger if it went with what I wanted. Not to mention that Olga O actually spent close to 6 hours with me on the phone and then at the time of signing the papers the next day, her certificate of insurance came in while I was signing. Not only was her rates lower than every other company out there with more coverage, her service was top notch as basically it's like having a personal assistant by your side 24/7. Even after the signing of papers, Olga O has never stopped with her personal communications as she solved lots of issues including those out of her insurance field! read more
