My previous reviews explain how I met Jake at Barker Tech. This is a new review with new perspective. It's been over two years since I paid Jake and shook his hand. In those two years Jake has reached out 3 times to check on my home and his work. It just seems to be how he is. In those two years I've reached out with some admittedly stupid questions and each time he's addressed my concerns without any snark or down talk that some techie guys use when speaking to plebes. I needed additional home tech stuff and naturally I reached out to Jake. His response was timely given his work load and he immediately offered elegant solutions to an inelegant problem. (Someone in my neighborhood is actively using my gravel yard as a dog pit stop and leaving me nasty surprises ). Jake offered some very clever options up to and including an outdoor speaker paired with my existing camera system (that he installed ) to politely ask the offending dog owner to remove their dog waste. Ultimately my wife vetoed the idea of me having the ability to leave audio messages for bad neighbors. But Jake's suggestion of an upgraded new camera with AI facial recognition and a wider field of view was perfect. Within a week Jake personally came back and upgraded the camera thus negating the one small blind spot the offender had been using. He kept his word. He sent me tutorials and worked with me not even being home to ensure that I was 100% satisfied with my upgraded surveillance view before leaving. Setting standards and holding yourself to them are key to excellence. Keeping your word and delivering what you promise are key to excellence. But. Excellence isn't derived from robot like adherence to guidelines. It's a combination of many intangible things. It's rare these days to encounter true excellence in almost any field. In case you're not aware, Deep Sentinel will either sell you their wireless security cameras, their POE wired cameras, or may be able to use your existing camera system to monitor your property 24/7 with "Live Guards!" So, I contacted Deep Sentinel who have excellent customer service by the way, and asked them if they could work with my existing Reolink camera system. Since they have never tried Reolink cameras, they told me that they'd try to see if Reolink was compatible with their Deep Sentinel Hub & technology, but they could not guarantee that it would work. They then recommended that I work with their premier vendor named Avati Audio Visual. I originally contacted Drew who was very helpful and from then on I dealt with Dick Hall who turned out to be Amazing! Since I was Deep Sentinel's first customer to try working with Reolink cameras, Dick had his work cut out for him. It took months of installations, troubleshooting, out of the box problem solving, numerous talks with both Deep Sentinel techs, as well as Reolink techs, just to get all of my cameras working. That's what happens when you're the guinea pig for a camera that's never been tried before. Anyway, after months of Dick's determination and him not giving up on me, he finally got my Reolink camera's to successfully work with the Deep Sentinel system! He is definitely an asset to Avati Audio Visual, Deep Sentinel, and the tech / installation industry as a whole. He needs to be commended for all that he does and given a raise! He was able to come out within 48 hours of my inquiry. He's very nice and professional. Their rates are the best and they don't nickel and dime you. I wanted to replace our existing mounted tv with a new, larger one and Michael did an excellent job. He made sure the mount was secure and even tightened up everything. He made sure our new tv was working perfectly before mounting it. I appreciate how through he was. He even hooked up our sound bar and offered to mount it at no extra cost. He kept in constant contact, providing updates and suggestions that struck a good balance between performance and cost. With his decades of experience, he knew where I should save money and where I should spend it. Even when the inevitable snafus occurred (which they always do), Glenn handled them with professionalism. Alex and his crew built a custom enclosure for the retractable screen, and ran new wires for a whole bunch of things. It required cutting holes in the ceiling and building a custom ceiling box, but when it was done, it looked as if it had built into the house the whole time. Josh and team did the installation of the AV equipment. They were professional and friendly, and paid attention to all the little details. Everything down to the cable management looks neat and tidy. It's complicated enough that we don't want to touch anything ourselves and never worked consistently for us. They're busy, so it's weeks or months to get them to come out and we need to pay $180 for them to come out when they're able to make it. 2+ years later all bets are off whenever we want to watch something on our system. It also feels like the system they recommended is a couple levels beyond what we needed in price and complexity. I'd recommend them for the wiring but I'd find someone else to do your system. If you do use Optimal Systems I would ask them to agree to a warranty on the original system working properly so you aren't stuck paying them for their travel time and work time to fix the system they install.
