After last week's terrific wind, we had one aspen crash through the fence into one neighbor's yard and another large aspen that was precariously leaning (10-15 degree angle) over two fences towards another neighbor's property. I called Joe who was working another job. He no-kidding came over within 15 minutes to look at our situation and soon after began work. He explained his plans to my and my neighbors' satisfaction. When it was time, he was very careful to protect both my and my neighbors' properties as he methodically took down the leaning tree. I cannot recommend AAA Emergency Tree Service enough. We had an extremely (extremely) large cottonwood tree come down on our garage during a freak windstorm. I called AAA and they were fast to respond with a quote and fast to perform the work. The work was done to beyond my satisfaction, all debris was cleaned up, and the giant root-ball was pulled up and out with precision! Especially when having to work around multiple other homes, with not a lot of access in the alley. They had the right equipment and the right personal. WHAT A BLESSING! Finding this company was truly a g*d send. The owner, Joe Phillips, sent out a team to help remove a HUGE tree limb that took down the fence between our property and our neighbor during a storm. Then, after it was determined that the main tree that the limb had detached from had severe damage and was an immediate danger of coming down, his team returned to remove the main tree. I am glossing over my high anxiety during the wait to have the main tree removed and my fear the tree would come down before his team could take it down safely, not to mention actually having someone climb a tree that was in imminent danger of coming down, which is not relevant to the work they did but was extremely relevant to the personal way that Joe responded. Joe was the most understanding, sympathetic and compassionate person I have run across in a long time, even saying he was keeping me in his prayers because I was so emotionally stressed out from dealing with the potential danger and damage the standing tree represented before it could be taken down. We called to have a 70ft cottonwood tree with root rot removed. Amazing service. They showed up that night to look at it, and started removal first thing the next day. They cleaned up all of the debris - and then some. They educated us on other other trees and how to trim them and keep them healthy. A 60- foot tree fell on our home. AAA was there the next day. They were courteous, professional, and got the immense job done, even though it entailed getting permits to block the street for a crane, all in two days. They got the work done with no further damage to our home. They were able to help conclude that the cause of the tree falling was rot and not wind and helped us with our insurance. I called Joe last week when a storm took down half of a large tree in our front yard. The other half looked like it might fall at any time, so I needed someone to come cut it down quickly before it fell and hurt someone. I called Joe on Tuesday morning and he was able to come out that afternoon. He worked with us on the price, and quickly got to work. He and his partner took down the remaining part of the tree, and cleaned up the rest of the downed branches. They took great care to clean up our yard when they were done, and even did a little trimming on a nearby tree at no extra cost. The tree fell at about 9:30pm, I called Joe about 11:30pm, he called me right back and was standing in my backyard at 7:30 the next morning. Extremely kind and professional. He coordinated the removal of the tree, no small task....it took a 90 ton crane parked in the street and the entire day to remove the tree. He also arranged to have the giant stumps ground and top soil back filled. I am pretty OCD when it comes to things being done right...I'm a perfectionist. I find good customer service in various places in Denver but excellent customer service in just a few. I faced a very tricky situation RIGHT before hitting the road and leaving town for nearly a week. My mom was pet sitting and strong winds ended up breaking a branch partially and was leaning over my power line that goes from my house to the electricity pole and was slowly bending the metal pole that goes into the power box. I contacted Xcel Energy to no avail since "it was not an emergency since there was no outage." They didn't show up until a WEEK after! I contacted 2 companies before contacting AAA and left them voice messages (I am still waiting for their reply, it was 2 months ago!). Mr. Phillips answered right away, came to assess the predicament and came the day after when we were gone to complete the work. He even rearranged the patio and completely cleaned everything. If you are looking for a cheaper option be my guest but one cannot buy peace of mind. I didn't have to worry about my mom being left with no power during the 100-degree summer weather. I guess these guys hire contractors, but the guys they sent were Ruiz tree service. They were awesome. I got 3 other quotes for tree trimming (tree was about 35-40', about 1 1/2 foot diameter trunk). I was just going to trim it at first (around $300-$500 by quotes). We decided instead to get rid of the ENTIRE tree and stump, these guys did it for $450 total! I was expecting to pay a lot more for it. Jose was really pleasant, polite, and knowledgeable about the tree, even telling me the scientific breed of both trees in my yard. They showed up a bit late, but they took the whole tree out with stump in about an hour. They raked the dirt back over, used a leaf blower to clean up the mess, and even pulled the hose out an sprayed off some dirt from the fence. They did the entire job over the fence or through the garage, and didn't have to track dirt through my house. I thought they were really professional, very efficient and well priced. Not a good experience overall. Joe responded within one hour, which was good. However, his attitude upon arrival was annoying, and kind of weird. For some reason that I don't understand, he became very insistent that before starting work I try eating a weed he found in my planter. Odd, since I had never met this guy before. When I repeatedly declined, he kept pushing. (I later found out it was actually a somewhat toxic species that is similar to an edible one, and notified him of this but he did not reply). Not really sure what this guy's problem is, but didn't appreciate the attitude or pushiness. There were a couple of other issues which were not ok but won't go into them here. He did perform the agreed upon service of stump grinding, and cleaned up afterwards. His fee is at least 50% higher than market, but, in all fairness remember that he will respond quickly and this is why he states he commands a premium. However, he then mistakenly issued an invoice showing an amount owing, even though he was paid in full at time of service. He said he would issue a corrected one but then failed to do so. Several texts and repeated emails to issue a correct paid in full invoice were ignored and not responded to. I didn't like this, and it was unprofessional. He was also very insistent after completing the job about having us give him a great review at some review service he texted to me. My impression overall is not good. While work did get done, I regret using Joe's services and will not do so again. While I don't recommend this person/company, in an urgent situation, you might consider putting up with Joe's attitude and issues (and also pay more) in order to get work done fast. Let's face it: in an emergency, you take what you can get. read more

Joe Phillips is very friendly and professional, and he will go the extra mile to help. Joe recently trimmed my large oak tree to meet city code specifications. He returned calls/emails quickly and promptly came out to give me a quote on a week end. When I explained that I needed to have the trimming done by a specific date to comply with the city code, Joe assured me that would not be a problem, and he even called the city forestry inspector to let her know. In terms of pricing, AAA Emergency Tree Service offered the best price out of the 5+ companies that I called. I've noticed a growing trend of people forgetting to say "thank you" when someone is the customer. For instance, it often seems like the customer says "thank you" when they are handed whatever they purchased. When, in reality, the customer should be thanked for their purchase. Joe sincerely thanked me for the opportunity to bid on the tree project and again sincerely thanked me for choosing his business after completing projects. That stood out. I would surely go back to AAA Emergency Tree Service for any tree needs in the future. I strongly advise anyone to avoid this company if you are not in Denver. I saw national tree service and high ratings and BBB approved and associated with AAA and called. A tree fell on our home. He explained there was a 500$ deposit which would be part of our tree removal service , well it was not a deposit but a finders fee. We got charged $500 which was not a deposit as stated in our email contract but a finders fee, this was a deceptive service that took advantage of a family going through a stressful time. Just want to send a great big thank you to AAA Emergency Cat and Animal Rescue.I was missing my cat one day when he didn't come in that evening and didn't see him for another couple of days. 6 days passed before I learned that my cat was in a very high pine tree in my neighbors yard and had been chased up there by a German Shepard and a Pit Bull. He would NOT come down even when the dogs were put up. He had gone into shock "Tigger" hadn't eaten or had any water for all this time, I couldn't get any help from the fire department, animal control, or Humane Society, I believe in reality it's just a cliché to call the fire department that you'd see on tv. There's not much option on a Saturday AM when you're 75 ft tree has a crack horizontally through about 1/4 up the trunk and you can hear it cracking. Imagine it's July 4, around 6:30pm and a gigantic tree on your property has fallen down and completely blocked the narrow road in front of your hillside house. No cars or people can pass. July 4th. Evening. People are headed out to july 4th festivities.. and up the road is a popular spot for watching fireworks. Of course I panicked a bit, and tried the city tree service and fire house, but IT'S THE FOURTH OF JULY EVENING. I tried my regular gardner, and tree trimmer... BUT IT'S THE FOURTH OF JULY EVENING. I called the first emergency tree service that came up in google, and Joe answered. This man is unbelievably calm and relaxed and professional, and was able to handle a worried and upset customer, me. I sent him a picture, and he was able to get me an estimate and contract over the phone, and told me "don't worry, we'll take care of everything". An hour later (9:30pm.. nice and dark outside with fireworks in the air somewhere) his tree trimmer guy showed up. He was friendly, calm, seemed to actually enjoy his job, and took it very seriously and confidently. He worked till 12:30am to give road access to cars and my driveway which was totally blocked. And in the morning he came back at 8am and finished the job and took away all the poor tree parts. I couldn't stick around to the end, but when I came back when he finished, the place was immaculate! And what was left of the tree looked decent and will grow back. Would call them back in a second. One of the most professional companies I've ever had do work at my house. A very large cottonwood fell on my house in the middle of the night. Great customer service! A cat had been stuck in a tree for over 24 hrs when I called AAA Emergency Tree Service. It was after 8p, but they still had people taking calls. I was promptly connected to a local service rep who gave me tips to try to get the cat down BEFORE they came out. He was willing to come out that night if I wanted, but suggested trying his tips first. Sure enough, the cat came down with one of their suggestions. We had a huge pine tree go down as result of very high winds. We called this company to come take a look. They responded very promptly, but took a terrible attitude when he found out we had another company also coming to take a look. We had never experienced a downed tree before and had no idea how much it would cost, so we thought we'd get 2 bids. This company got very hostile at the mere thought that another company was there and he then refused to even give us a quote. His attitude was extremely rude and he simply left. He also bad-mouthed the other company. We hired the other company and they did a good job. The company owner called a few days later to apologize for his behavior. I appreciate that, so while our initial, brief experience was not pleasant, I am assuming he simply was having a bad day, and we all have those occasionally. Also, since we didn't actually have any work done, I cannot vouch for the company's work. I note that reviews are overwhelmingly positive for the work done by the company, so I assume they are good. Beware of this company. Two months ago, Joe evaluated our tree. He looked at my fiancée in the face and said he had nothing to worry about. And then in a wind storm, the tree came down last night. It damaged cars in the street, our fence and coincidentally landed on my fiancée who was running back to the house with our dog when the storm began. We spent the evening in the er. When I called Joe to explain the situation the next day, I asked for help. He said he'd help. He came over, quoted us no discount, did not show any empathy and ran out the door. I understand that things happen. I understand that even when the tree has some signs of rotting, you might miss that. But I don't understand how you can show no empathy and charge full price for taking care of it. I cannot in good conscious recommend this company. I am not someone who writes bad reviews.
