A team arrived and got right to work. They made quite a dent in my overgrown backyard, removing a bunch of choke cherry trees and dead branches. The next morning, they were here bright and early with a bucket truck and a wood chipper, taking down 2 completely dead trees in the back and trimming the massive one out front of the house. This company planted a tree that was near dead since day one. They came out after several months and sprayed it with some tree food and told me it was rare for one of their trees to die, but they also told me they rarely if ever follow up with customers so they don't really know how often it happens. I called again asking if there was anything that could be done, or perhaps we could look into replacing it with a tree that was alive, and they stopped communicating. Very disappointing - I would not use these guys if you want a tree that is healthy and not dead. read more

Instead of trimming it, they recommended city forestry to look at it before we wasted our money. Turns out it had to come down and it needed to happen fast. I'm happy with the tree and the planting itself so would work with them again on this piece. I do feel they could improve their communications with me though to set expectations of what is supposed to happen. We had a tree planted through this company. Day of the planting, we see a truck pull up from the nursery and the guy who drops off the tree is yammering on about how we have to dig the hole ourselves. I call the company with no response wondering if we had a serious misunderstanding. 30 minutes later, two men from the tree company finally show up and plant the tree. 3 hours later, the utility company comes out and plants flags 2 feet away from the tree but no message was delivered to us about how we were supposed to interpret the flags - are we in trouble? Were we supposed to call them first? First of all, please inform me exactly what is to happen that day: utility company needs to come to mark the gas lines so we don't trip those up (preferably before the planting and what happens if they aren't there before the planting?), and tell me that the person delivering the tree isn't the same person who plants it and make sure nursery delivery person doesn't give us the wrong information. Secondly, we had to do some serious hunting to get care instructions for our $1400 tree. The two people who did the planting gave us conflicting instructions, and once I got in touch with the owner, he kind of mumbled confusing instructions to me. Finally, the assistant emails me very clear instructions. I should have gotten that email in the first place without asking. Great tree and day-of service once we got down to it, but please PLEASE work on your communications. It's systematically failing. read more

I have to give a shout-out to the crew that removed my crabapple tree last week. There were tons of crabapples everywhere and they did a great job of cleaning most of them up, above and beyond expectations. One of the arborists took down the majority of the tree by himself while his teammates left to empty the trailer. They still have to come back out and grind the stump but I expect no issues. read more

I have hired a lot of bad tree trimmers in the past, and I have now learned from my mistakes. It was never, ever done properly before, and always cost an arm and a leg. These folks have the tools and team to do the work CORRECTLY, including one of those trucks that hoists them high in the air to get the damaged outer branches off your tree (which none of my other tree trimmers have ever done). This is the 2nd time we have used 5280 Trees this year. In August they removed a very large Aspen and two medium yews - great job. Last week (October) they trimmed the very large Maple in the front of the house. Excellent job. I always worry that too much or too little will be trimmed off the tree. Too much and my patio will heat up and garden will fry. Too little and those early snow falls could damage my lovely old tree. The 5280 Crew took just the right amount off my tree. My neighbor just finished planting a new garden partly under the tree. I requested that the crew be very careful not to damage the new plantings. Nick and a very efficient crew from 5280 Trees arrived about 10 on April 5, 2022. When I asked approximately how long it would take to remove the tree, Nick said about an hour and a half. I was surprised, but they finished very close to 11:30. Watching Nick working in the tree and the well coordinated crew on the ground was amazing. I was just quoted $800 for a tree trimming on an Ash tree in the front of our house near the street. The gentleman that came out very nice bu expressed his guys are not certified arborist, except one of the owners who does not work on many of the trees. I am one that does his homework before I have any project worked on. I had 7 tree companies come out and this one was the most expensive price. Do you homework and don't just go off reviews. I am not sure how they determined their price but this is very high compared to 7 other companies that have been around for years and have certified arborist. read more

For what we considered a very fair price we then had them trim and shape the rest of our trees.
