We've had 2 other contractors in the past for a room addition and an installation of a 16 foot sliding door that required a lot of structural work. I would not allow either of the first 2 contractors back to do anything else. Joe does great work, cares about his work and has a fine eye for detail. Hard to find people like this today as most just want to get done with your project and get to the next. Joes really cares.

I would not recommend this company at all. I hired them for several major and minor projects and…read moreover the course of years I have realized that they did a low quality work (especially foundation) even though they claim they do proper engineering considerations and have the experience! 1) I hired them to redo a patio floor in 2017; They poured a thin layer of concrete over shingle sheets that were originally there. The concrete has cracked and water leaks to the garage. I am going through major redo only 6 years later by finding out about the unprofessional work they did every layer that is removed! 2) I hired them to rebuild a wood patio for me in 2018... Last year we found out that the columns where not secured to the ground, sat on a thin layer of concrete with the drain passing under it! I had to redo the post, columns, & etc. 3) I hired them to cover an in ground Jacuzzi. They used plywood and claimed they have waterproofed the edges well!! Rest assured it leaked and had to be replaced within 18 months! 4) I hired them to install an over the hood microwave. The did not sit the vent properly, requiring me to redo the work + fixing the damaged parts! 5) I hired them to do exterior stucco; they did a terrible job in matching the paint (even wrong finish) and texture... 6) I hired them to install a sliding door! they used a cheap door with a broken lock and without water proofing the base! (there are pictures to prove all of these..) I have given Ali several chances to fix any of these and unfortunately he does not take any accountability and responsibility for his work!! He always needs to "think about it and get back to me"!... Shame on me for trusting him with all this work and all the money I paid him, but shame on people like this calling themselves professional engineers and holding a license!

I hired Todd to repair three unstable spots in my bathroom subfloor before tiling. While he clearly…read morehas a good eye for structural issues and was willing to accommodate a tight timeline, there were some challenges with communication and project execution. The Good: - Flooring Expertise: Todd correctly identified a hump in the subfloor and noted that the new tile would sit significantly higher than the adjacent bedroom carpet. He proposed shaving down the joists to level and lower it--a solution my tiler highly recommended. Even with this fix, the tile ended up almost two inches higher than the carpet, so I'm glad Todd caught this before the tile went down. - Timeline Accommodation: Todd squeezed in the final repairs on his way to a family vacation in San Diego because I requested the work be expedited before guests arrived. His kids were literally sitting in the back of the car waiting for him to finish the job. I certainly appreciated him prioritizing my request to this degree. The Challenges: - Scheduling and Handoffs: Todd had to leave before finishing the joists and couldn't return for a few days. He sent a colleague, Mike, to finish the job, but the handoff was not thorough. First, Mike missed one of the three spots I originally hired them to fix. Second, Mike was not informed that a specific section of the subfloor needed to be left open to accommodate a new floor drain. Had I not caught the miscommunication, my tiler would have to open the subfloor again, costing time and money. - Follow-Through and Accountability: When I pointed out the missed subfloor spot, Todd initially stated he would need to charge his three-hour minimum, viewing it as extra scope. It was disappointing that I had to convince him it was part of the original job by referencing the picture in my initial quote request and our in-person walkthrough. Ultimately, I had to pay a premium to incentivize him to return to finish the job. - Expedited Repairs and Transparency: For his final visit, Todd did not bring his drill. As a result, he could not fasten the replacement subfloor with screws as per best practice, so he used nails instead. What was most concerning was his lack of transparency: rather than informing me he was missing the necessary equipment and giving me an opportunity to supply it, he would have left for San Diego if I hadn't caught it.

Valentin was recommended by the installers for the company that sold us our new ductless HVAC…read moresystem. We didn't need the old heater wall vents anymore, so we wanted to cover them with drywall. A couple of other drywall installers wanted to get into our attic and remove the vents from inside the walls before covering them with drywall. We thought their bids were expensive for what we needed. Valentin was able to keep the vents in place and still cover them, and his bid was reasonable. His work was even better than reasonable! He arrived on time, covered everything and kept our house clean and the drywall work looks great. The old heater vents just disappeared! (See the before and after photos.) We highly recommend A & V Restoration, and we're hoping to work with them again on another project soon.

We hired Mehmet, the business owner, for a kitchen sink installation. Our old kitchen sink was a…read morenon-standard cutout undermounted sink and we wanted a new standard rectangular sink installed. This involves cutting the granite in place, basically making the ~30"x19" cut-out large enough to fit a 33"x22" top-mounted sink (see photos). All other (~8-9) renovation companies I reached out to stated they'd need to replace the entire countertop, costing multiple thousand dollars, or wouldn't take the job at all; only Homedepot Master offered us this service. Mehmet made sure to enumerate risks and considerations (e.g. countertop scratches, dust, possible cracking etc.) which we acknowledged before moving forward. After the sink we ordered got delivered, Mehmet and Torkay arrived on the day we scheduled, professionally set up the workspace (put up a curtain to contain the dust, sealed doors/windows, etc.) and had the new top-mount sink installed within ~5 hours. No surprises with the payment afterwards either; Homedepot Master quoted us $1200 for cutting and installation, we payed $1200 and not a cent more. Overall, I'm pleasantly satisfied with Homedepot Master's service. I anticipate we'll reach out to them again for future renovations.

John Christopher Construction built an ADU to my exact specifications, worked with me on a daily…read morebasis, and brought the project to completion in the budget allotted. Ours was not an easy build due to the fact that we had to excavate quite a bit as the ADU was build in to a hillside and near a slope to the rear of my property. If I had to focus on one thing, it would without question be communication. I was assigned a job foreman who guided me through the entire process, listened to my needs, provided me feedback, and helped me along the way with all the little changes that arose during the build. We made a few changes along the way and we were given clear communication of the requested change, as well as a fixed price for the change. The use of sub contractors is a part of any build and each of the contractors selected were respectful of my property and my neighbors, did an above average job, and were a compliment to John Christopers team. I would advise anyone considering an accessory dwelling unit to choose this contractor for the project. We spent a lot of time selecting the right contractor and were even led astray by a few. I can honestly say from my perspective, there's no-one better suited to build a detached ADU than John Christopher Construction. Before choosing John Christopher, we viewed several of their builds in process as well as spoke to some of their employees and customers. We would be happy to host potential customers as the pictures I am attaching to the review don't even come close to doing the ADU credit.
