This branch is hovering around the 2.5 stars? Well there's a damn good reason for that obviously. I remember when AAA was the gold standard. Always had it. Was always reliable. Not now. I only had roadside through them because of my partner. I pulled my insurance with them year's ago because of the awful treatment I got at the Oakland office. It seems they tend to scrape the absolute bottom of the barrel to find competent, kind individuals. One or the other has continued to be an issue. But let me tell ya' yesterday was a doozy! Talk about ruining a whole day, like scooping up a city off a planet like the Borg! So I decided to go back to AAA because of a huge screwup from my current insurance provider Geico (oh, I'll get to you S*#ts later). So I go in to get my quote. Go through all the information rigamaroll. Then the insurance provider pops up with this little tidbit of information. Are you ready for this? She informs me that my license is suspended. We've just lost cabin pressure. In my head I'm now playing out all the possible police related: pulled out of my car, truck impounded, usual tactics that cops do when you've got any kind of a problem with licensure. Cause it's happened before! So I bolt. first I call geico. Cause they've never had any issues with my license. But I can't get any of the award Winning members of geico to give me the information I need. Four phone calls. In the meantime I'm in the DMV parking lot waiting for my turn to find out from them what's actually going on. I finally get an answer from someone at geico. She says my license is fine. I'm not satisfied. And I'm not taking any chances. So my number is up at the DMV. Yes my license is actually all good. So why did AAA think my license wasn't in good order? So I have my license printed out and storm back over to the AAA. Paperwork in hand. I show the individual handling this mess the paperwork. She just looks lost. And apologizes. She asks me if she can copy it. "Sure" I tell her. But check this out. She comes back with a quote for me. She informed me that the underwriter had the wrong information. Apologizes once again. With quote in hand. I ask her: "would you take a chance on your company after all you just put me through?" She answered honestly. "No" I bounce. So I ask you. I like triple A and the workers here are friendly, but the lines are ridiculous. If you want to pay with cash be prepared to wait behind everyone who is trying to get dmv services. Hopefully this location doesn't turn into DMV where you have to go 5 minutes before closing for them to start pushing people through faster. Why shut down the account payment side?? I've made multiple calls prior to taking a trip down to Concord AAA, making sure that they're taking out-of-state registrations, the answer I got was yes. While I was standing in line, a man approached me and wanted to make sure I had everything I needed. I was missing a VIN verification, so he referred me to the DMV across the street. I thought "okay great" then went ahead and did that. When I came back another woman said that they're NOT accepting out-of-state registrations. At this point I'm super frustrated since I've been trying to register my vehicle in CA for about 4 months now and keep getting wrong information. I asked to double check and she said that maybe another lady could help me. Yet again, I'm having to wait. However, Ms. Margie was the most patient, understanding, and helpful person there! She helped me with every inquiry and concern I had. Once I was in her hands, everything went smooth sailing from there! I couldn't and still can't thank her enough! It took 6 phone calls for me to have my car towed 10 miles. One phone said that the tow was on its way. The next phone call said that they can't tow my car because I'm not there to sign off on it. The next phone call told me that the tow truck has my Mercedes and it should arrive soon. The next phone call told me that I have to call for another tow truck because this tow truck left. The next phone call told me to call back tomorrow morning because they can't send a tow right now. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE MISCOMMUNICATION AND THE INCOMPETENCE OF THIS AGENCY FOR SOMETHING THEY ASSERT TO BE QUALIFIED TO DO! I will be cancelling my membership. AAA hates disabled customers. I have a disability that limits my mental abilities so there are some things that I just plain need help with. That's why I was so happy to get help from Damon Andrews the branch manager of my local AAA. I had been left out in the cold waiting over 4 hours at night for a tow truck just to have AAA send the wrong kind of truck that wouldn't fit into the parking structure where my car was dead (someone had tried and failed to steal it but they messed it up good and it was already a bad day). So now AAA says several more hour wait or I can use an outside tow company and get reimbursed for it. As I'm disabled and already was late getting home to take my medication I chose to use an outside towing company. At this point I didn't really have a choice due to my medical condition. So our car gets towed, I'm able to get home just after midnight (6 hours after I first called AAA). The next day I go into my local branch for assistance filing my claim for reimbursement just to find out first off it's a claim to be CONSIDERED for reimbursement. AAA could deny the claim. The girl behind the counter faxes it for me and says if you don't hear anything in 2 weeks call this number good luck. So I asked to speak to a manager as I'm still upset at being left out in the cold the night before. Enter Damon Andrews. I explain the situation in detail to him and he's VERY sympathetic. He assured me that AAA cares and he will personally follow up for me on my claim. He then takes it supposedly emails it and gives me his card. I leave feeling much better and reassured we will recoup the money we spent. Fast forward two weeks and I haven't heard anything. So I call Damon and he promises to follow up calling me back several days later to say it's still pending be patient. These things take time. So I wait. Nothing. Finally two more weeks go by with no word so I call the call center going through the prompts to get a person - just to find out Damon NEVER FILED THE CLAIM to START with!! Now I have to try to start the process all over again on my own using technology I'm not comfortable with because going into the branch and having the Branch Manager help you is POINTLESS and frustrating. Having my disability the concentration it takes to do the computer work necessary to file the paperwork online myself was EXTREMELY challenging and I still don't know if it was done correctly as the said it won't show up in their database for 2-3 weeks. Lots of seating, and there was a person who greeted me, asked what I was here for, took my name, and told me how many people were ahead of me. I can't believe this is a AAA office. Service here was worse than the dmv and took just as long. Every single person working the day I went in seemed to have no work to do (despite the growing queue of people in their lobby) because no one was doing any. The clowns behind the dmv counter stood around gossiping like high school kids, laughing at inside jokes and having an all around good time enjoying each other's company, all while not helping any guests. It was beyond unprofessional- I really can't believe this is a aaa office. The woman signing people in as they came in couldn't give anyone an approximate wait time. She told one man, who asked if she knew how long the wait would be, "I don't know, it's pretty busy... check when you're second in line and I can give you an idea then." What?!?!?! I get emergency roadside service through my insurance company and two of my credit cards. My main aaa benefit is dmv services, but now that I know aaa provides worse service than the actual dmv, I don't see any real reason to keep my membership. The convenience of being member doesn't make any sense. An hour wait for a renewal is not convenient at all for people that pays for the membership. Posted closing time for Saturday is 2:00 pm. Arrived at 1:30 pm, along with another person. We were greeted by an agitated employee, who shouted (not spoken to, she literally shouted), "We're done for the day!!!" Both the other person and I inquired if the 2:00 pm closing time is incorrect. Again, shouting, she responded, "No - we're just way too busy!!!" There were 2 people. The other person tried to ask a question, when he was abruptly cut off and told, "Call customer service or go online. I told you we're done for the day!!!" She then turned her back on us, stormed back inside and locked the door. Prior to this, I had also spoken with an agent in the office and told her of an incident in which I was less than satisfied. The agent insincerely apologized. I told her I would really like to stay with AAA (home and auto insurance), as my family has been with AAA since 1961. She then responded, "If you want to leave, that's you're decision." I later found out that AAA no longer compensates or recognizes client retention. Employees receive no recognition or credit for retaining clients and clients are not recognized or appreciated for their loyalty. Too much money. Employees only receive recognition and credit for new clients. Therefore there is no incentive for employees to want clients to stay with them - apparently we, along with our revenue to them, are a burden. I'll be cancelling all of my policies and membership, but I'm not naive enough to think anyone at AAA will care. I'll just inform the sales person who calls later (when my departure has lasted long enough to qualify as a new policy) AAA no longer meets my standards for decency. read more

Great customer service and the lines can't be beat for DMV services! I went to this location to renew my car registration. I arrived at 9am and happily strolled into the office for a ten minute wait, excited that I could dodge the DMV line right across the parking lot about 60 people deep! My issues was slightly complicated, but the AAA rep, Sharon, completely understood everything and even recommended a great place to get my smog check done. She even let me bypass the line after I passed smog so I could get out even quicker. She even recommended an upgrade service with my AAA membership that has really been helpful for us! Incredible problem with homeowner claim. Did not fix water damage under house because they termed it "dryrot" and not "water damage". Asjed them at least 3 times what the difference is between the two. Never responded to question and always changed the subject. The original problem of leaking shower pan and ruined joists underneath were disallowed in claim. The also disallowed all subflooring replacement caused by water damage. The only thing allowed was drying floors with fans and replacement of linoleum even though subflooring needed to be replaced due to water damage. Adjuster used headset that broke up our conversations. A number of times I commented to her how I couldn't understand her because her headset was breaking up her speech. SHE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE HEADSET WAS BAD. no attempt on her part to use the phone instead of the headset. And, no apology for the bad headset. On each occasion that I talked to her, I perceived an attitude of aloofness, as if she was just "trying to get through the day". I MAY have been wrong as it was a perception on my part. The "field adjuster" never stepped into my home; rather, he relayed on reports from his contractors. Everytime I spoke with him, young children were screaming in the background. I realize that this is a covid 19 anomaly; however, I do expect SOME professionalism. Maybe I need to be more charitable and understanding. I spoke to my underwriter of 20 plus years. She was very appreciative for my comments. She indicated that she seldom hears any feedback about claims....good or bad. She said that she would have a claims supervisor call me. I am a AAA member for car emergencies. I called up AAA to have them come out for something minor. The driver did his job well and was very friendly BUT he did not have a mask on. I greeted him wearing one myself. For context, it was 95 degrees BUT Contra Costa County requires him to have a mask on in this case as does AAA Concord per a phone call I had with them. Furthermore, I called AAA Concord to confirm it was their driver and to leave feedback. They did confirm the driver was attached to their location and also confirmed their policy that their drivers wear masks. I received an apology but was told that they do temperature spot-checks for all their drivers. Thats great but I reminded the person on the phone that those with COVID can still transmit the disease despite not having ANY symptoms inclusive of a fever. I also reminded him of Contra Costa's requirements. The person moved on from both points quickly, said something about temperature checks being sufficient (I think - he trailed off so it was hard to hear) and mentioned that drivers are supposed to ask the customer permission to not wear masks. The call wasn't going resolve anything really so I thanked him for his time and for taking the feedback and that was that. Pretty disappointing to have a service that's specifically built around interacting with many people across a geographically dispersed area with required interaction less then 6 feet (handing keys, paperwork, tablets, etc) not follow COVID guidelines. Seems like a great way to get highlighted as a key contract trace path if they don't tighten this up soon. Bad PR of course but also unnecessary risk to the public and their own staff. Response to comment from AAA: Nope. Doing so would remove the anonymity of my feedback and folks involved know where I live within a couple houses. Long shot any retaliation would happen and anything that did would get caught on my cameras but not risking my family. My daughters car was totaled when she was attempting to make a legal left turn and got ran into by a full size Dodge truck who was behind her following too close. She was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry. AAA said it was 100% her fault. The driver of the truck also had AAA and had minor damage to his truck. They decided my daughter was at fault because she didn't have full coverage and they believed only what the other driver said had happened. They didn't want to repair or replace my daughters car. They didn't even send out an adjuster to look at the damage to her car, they went by the photos my daughter had given them. They never returned her calls or kept her updated with her claim. I've had AAA insurance for over 10 years and my mother has had AAA for over 30 years and has never had a claim. My daughter is now going to have to get an attorney! I am a brand new member and was very excited to purchase my membership with them,but every time I have tried to use it for anything was denied service. Once for a tow because I was a perchased my membership 2 days prior. The second time I actually went in to this branch to have a title transferred into my name and they told me at first that I was too late to be helped. I made a stink and then she put me in to speak with another rep. I waited for 25 minutes to speak with the other rep. To find out that they will not transfer a salvage title out of state into my name.(WTF) this place totally sucks and I wish I never signed up with them in the first place. I'm choosing this office of AAA insurance because area code 925 is on the phone number of the insured who rear ended me a couple of weeks ago, because he just plain wasn't paying attention. Not that AAA gives a damn. It doesn't matter that you're the victim of their customers. No excuses... he wasn't drunk... or didn't appear to be. The CHP didn't think so either. Ethically, you'd think this wouldn't be much of a problem, except... AAA is pure crime. And of course, Crime doesn't pay! Since the total cost to repair my vehicle (by the repair shop) is more than the value estimated by AAA adjusters based not by Kelly Blue Book, but by the area in which the vehicle is registered, these crooks want to "total loss" (salvage) my vehicle. That means they don't want to pay, in this case, a few hundred bucks more that their own calculated value of my car to get it repaired. They'll give me some gratuitous amount, less $200 if I want to keep the vehicle. Not to mention $300 DMV charges out of my pocket to register a salvaged vehicle and have the DMV do a mandatory safety inspection. All because fate put me in front of this random guy in slow traffic on the Bay Bridge. I've yet to write Consumer Affairs on this one... I visited this location to buy some movie tickets for a discounted price. I walked in and there was so many people waiting. We approached the front desk and she looked so uninterested. She just asked for my name and told us to be seated. She didn't even say how long the wait would be. She seemed like she doesn't want to be bothered so we didn't ask her. About after 15 minutes, some lady called our name. This place is small and looked very disorganized and cluttered. We didn't know where she was so we stood there for awhile looking where to go. She then raised her hand so we approached her. She asked what we needed today. We said movie tickets and she proceeded to processing our info and our tickets. My boyfriend is a member and I'm not but my parents are. I was going to pay for the tickets so when I grabbed my wallet. She asked rudely, are you a member? I said no. She then told my boyfriend to pay. I've been to a different location and this never happened. If it's their policy, it's okay but it doesn't mean you have to be mean and rude about it. She didn't even say sorry for the wait and she didn't thank us after the transaction. Her name starts with S and ends with N. I'm not saying your name out of respect but you know who you are. Seriously, customer service needs some major improvement. Everyone seemed unhappy in there. Their employees looked unapproachable and not friendly whatsoever. Over the years I've been fortunate that my AAA membership has brought me perks and discounts far more often than I've needed roadside assistance. They've got loads of maps, discounted attraction tickets (which we used a few years back for our trip to Legoland) and a nice little travel store section where I got a purse I've used a ton just around town. Lots of places offer discounted entrance fees, hotel stays, etc with your membership card. I made a quick trip to the store today and noticed a whole rack of car/emergency accessories that I'll need to come back and peruse sometime. Stuff like an emergency blanket in a tiny packet. In preparation for my upcoming trip to Iceland this week, in which I intend to drive around the entire country, I stopped in to my neighborhood AAA office to obtain an International Drivers License. How refreshing it was to get in and out of here in under 20 minutes! From the gal who gave me the form to complete, to the clerk who processed the information, all the way to the individual who took my photos for the license, everyone was pleasant, helpful and respected my time...which is more than I can say for my agent who took 2 weeks to respond to my request as to whether I even needed to spend the money for the license ($25 total: $15 for the license, $10 for the photos). The people that I dealt with today took the time to explain that if I didn't have the license, and if I were in an accident or pulled over in Iceland, I could be fined for not carrying the IDL. I'd rather pay the $25 then try to fight a ticket in another country. I really think the cost of AAA membership is well worth the money...especially if it means I can avoid EVER going into the DMV! read more

AAA charges $56+ for the membership, a very poor value for the roadside assistance which most of people use it for. The competitors charge about 10 times less for the same thing, but people have been hypnotized to believe that AAA is the best, it will take care of them and it's worth it! Perhaps, at one time they did, but now it is an urban legend. I called AAA for what I thought was a very minor easy issue and it was till they got on the scene! I went over a wheel stop on a parking lot and only a small corner piece of the engine shield next to the right wheel was bent, about 3 inches, it was catching on the wheel stop when I tried to back up. At that point it certainly did not require a replacement of the whole shield and could be easily fixed by jacking up that side and bending it back. If the "helper" was too lazy to bend it back he could have simply rolled the car off the jack. I would be fine with either! However, because Ellison's driver, Manuel Meza did not listen to what I said and failed to notice the problem when he looked under he forced my car over the wheel stop damaging the entire shield which is about 3.5 feet long where it was way beyond repair and had to be replaced. To make matters worse not only he did not even acknowledged his oversight he said: "well, you just have to replace it, it was damaged anyway!" He was so clueless, he even asked for a good review! The damage he caused was just under $264... Thanks for helping!!! I contacted AAA and they told me to file a complaint which I did and was told that "we investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong" and "no, you can't dispute it, case closed." I replied to their customer service survey with a complaint, no answer, I contacted membership customer service, same thing and guess what, my email sent to the executive in charge of the membership did not get a reply either! Same dead end with their provider, Ellison towing, but at least the latter did reply to say they are not going to do anything, AAA is too busy even for that! Mind I say that the auto club wants to brand itself on "being absolutely famous for doing the right thing." By whose standard ignoring the customer who was wronged is doing the right thing? This review is based on their DMV services that AAA offers. Everytime I go to AAA for any related DMV service, it seems like there are only 2 people on a given day working the DMV line. The line for these services can get pretty long too. I would not suggest going on your lunch break as I did one time. I had to take an extra 30 minutes for lunch to take care of my DMV needs at AAA. On the upside, the line is very short if you compare it to the lines at the actual DMV office and it does go faster than DMV. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that AAA offers DMV services. I honestly think it is a great perk being an AAA member. I like how I'm able to go in and out for any of my DMV needs verses taking a number and waiting for a few hours at DMV. So in a nutshell, waiting in line at AAA for DMV services is way better than waiting at the DMV offices. read more
