Yet another favorite brunch spot unlocked!!! This place is unique since they have typical breakfast/brunch menu but they also offer lunch and Hawaiian dishes. It was a random find for us but we cannot wait to go back already. The reasons are: They offer Hawaiian dishes that cannot be found elsewhere. It was my first time coming across Loco Moco in Indy, and I was pleasantly surprised. It came with two eggs, and good amount of rice. It was very satisfying. Service was friendly and attentive. Everything was correct, with extra sauce, napkins, & utensils if you want. We just finally dined in and I tried the Tapsilog and it was delicious!! I loved the steak and the egg together. So good!! When we got takeout previously, My mom raved about the burger here- she's picky and hard to please at times so I had to try it and I must say it is delicious and a great option even for breakfast! Amazing local place we go to regularly. My favorite items are the firecracker chicken, fish tacos (special), cinnamon pancakes, fish and chips, and crab cake eggs Benedict. Service is usually super fast and friendly. The ambiance is a super cute and locally owned vibe. Owners are usually here and talking to people. When walking in, it feels like stepping into a little cafe off the beach. Friendly, clean, island decor, and the smell of fresh coffee. My husband had the boarder omelette. The avocado was fresh and green. The omelette was loaded with the filling. I'm more simple so I had the American breakfast, eggs, toast, potatoes. Food was delicious, fresh, and hot. Don't worry though, service remained the Midwest nonchalant we all know and love, believe that. It's a must to kick things off with some fried biscuits for the table. I'm firmly a savory guy, but a sampler of hot cinnamon sugar dough deserves the play. Ate here with my mom about a month ago for Sunday brunch. Although it was terrible, I originally was not going to write a review because I usually try to support local business. A parking lot altercation with the owner made me forgo that rule. To start the food was gross. Eggs tasted like powder and the steak was leather. I would be happy with this if it was a free meal, but it was extremely over priced for what you get. Coffee taste like folgers but somehow worse. What can I say? I love this place! It's great food (I'm a vegetarian so I haven't gotten to try most of the specials) and good coffee. Sometimes it's hard to find a good cup of coffee!!! All I can say is wow. This was one of the most enjoyable breakfasts that I've had in a long time. Let's start with the food. Amazing mixture of traditional breakfast along with a Hawaiian/Filipino inspired options. I got the steak and eggs which were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. For the table we tried the hot and regular sausage, sweet biscuits, spam, lime slushie, rice krispy treats and different flavors of coffee. Everything was excellent. The service was also fantastic. Our waitress was attentive and took care of all of our needs. When we weren't sure what we wanted to order because the menu had so many options, she brought us samples of different things to try. Then the owner came over and sat down with us to explain the history of the restaurant and the menu. She was a lovely person inside and out and also kept bringing us samples and tastes of different menu options. The ambiance was relaxed and had a Hawaiian vibe to it. Overall it was a great experience. Our group of 5 stayed there for almost 3 hours talking with the staff, eating delicious food, and having an amazing time. The only thing I'm sad about is that I'm leaving town tomorrow and won't be able to come back here to try out some different menu options and experience the warm hospitality again. I wanted to go here because of the Hawaiian items on the menu, specifically the spam musabi. When I arrived at 12p on a Sat, they were packed! I had to wait about 3 min just for a seat at the bar. I noticed on the menu that it said the spam musubi was available in limited quantities, so I was surprised when they said they still has some. I ordered one spam musubi, one Ala carte French toast (2 pieces) and a POG to drink. The musabi was good, but I felt like it had too much rice. The flavoring of the spam was overpowered by the rice. The POG was mostly orange juice. But the French toast was good. And the service was good too. I don't know of I'll be back. I was a bit disappointed. If you've had oragne chicken and enjoyed it then you owe it to yourself to to check out this dish. On another note, all these businesses west of Allisonville are being heavily impacted by the road construction. Not long ago, we wanted to try a new restaurant for breakfast and / or lunch with selections not commonly found on a typical breakfast or lunch menu. After browsing the online menu, A2Z offered several unique entrees not on most restaurants' menus and specialty brunch dishes served on weekends. We were excited to learn they served Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, or a specialty cocktail with brunch. We enjoyed the Bloody Mary's with brunch, and the brunch experience did not disappoint. Parking was easy with several handicapped parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Booths, 4-top tables, and a small countertop are the seating selections inside with a small outdoor sidewalk patio available. It looked crowded when we arrived, but we were seated immediately in a comfortable booth just behind the partitioned wall. The atmosphere is fun and colorful, with Hawaiian decor intertwined throughout. The menu serves many of our favorite breakfast and lunch options with several delightful Hawaiian selections. A few of the Hawaiian breakfast options are Loco Moco and Hawaiian Five-O, which were very popular, and brunch options are fun and unique, with Hawaiian pulled Luau pork as well as the traditional breakfast options. Traditonal breakfast selections include biscuits and gravy, several types of omelets, pancakes, French toast, and Country Fried Steak. Note Eggs Benedicts are only served on the weekends. My husband ordered the Meatloaf Manhattan with a generous serving of meatloaf, fluffy mashed potatoes, with an unremarkable gravy. He said it was decent and would order again. Keep in mind, he grew up with a southern mother who made everything from scratch, and that is his benchmark for all meatloaf. I had the pulled pork, which was excellent. Our server was extremely friendly, answered all our questions, and checked on us often. We will certainly be back again and sit on the patio if the weather permits. I was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing all the positive reviews. However I could not be more disappointed with my experience. We were quickly sat, but then waited 30 minutes for anyone to acknowledge that we were there. Once a server did finally come to take our drink order, he apologized but then dropped off our drinks and disappeared for another long stretch before returning to take our order. We almost got up and left several times and if we had cash on us to pay for our drinks, we would have after being ignored the second time. Finally, once the server retuned to take our order he was impatient and not helpful with the menu options. I ordered eggs well done which came out runny, but I was so hungry after waiting so long that I had to suck it up. The rest of the food was pretty good, but the service was bad enough that it's not worth it to return. read more

Three cheers for this cafe. It's one of the most wonderful places to eat in Indianapolis. I've eaten here more than a dozen times. That included immediately after two surgeries, and I found it comforting. The construction nearby has really screwed things up for this mom and pop place, which is brutishly unfair. The food is terrific. I've had omelets and the breakfast burritos. My sister always gets the country fried steak and gravy. My mom and dad jump around the menu. We've always been pleased. Once we got slow service. They were packed and might have been a tad understaffed. Our server ran her butt off, but our service was definitely slow. So the next time we were there, after my second surgery, we had the same server. She remembered us, remembered the slow service, and apologized for it. I was amazed. We hadn't complained to anybody or withheld a dime from her tip. Please come to A2Z at least once if you're on this side of town. You won't find better food at a better price. The owners will be there and make frequent rounds through the dining areas greeting customers, refilling drinks, and doing whatever else is needed. It has a Polynesian theme to it so there are interesting things on the menu and wonderful decor. The ingredients on everything are super fresh. I might go tomorrow, maybe 1ish. read more
