Choice of base, then protein, then sides, then sauces and finally toppings. You just can't go wrong. The staff here has been consistently friendly and helpful. Prices are quite reasonable. The small bowl may look small, but is so filling as they pack a generous serving of food in there somehow. Parking out front is rather limited, but there is parking available in the rear. We were greeted warmly by the staff. I had the Maui poke while my husband had the Ali'i poke. The ingredients were all very fresh and the poke tasted great. I was soooooo skeptical about having shaved ice as a strawberry shortcake (minus the shortcake)!! Haha it was strawberry flavored shaved ice, strawberries, ice cream and a total AWESOMENESS supprize. i have been here a handful of times over the last 2 years and i've been pretty content each time. only downside i would say is that the scoops and cut of fish are quite small, so i wouldn't order anything smaller than a regular bowl, however, they are extremely generous with their toppings, have a great variety of toppings, and everything is always quite fresh! they do not charge extra for avocado and crab which is also a plus. being from california, it's hard to find comparable poke, but this place is good & is my go-to spot in indy that i recommend to everyone!! also there is always street parking or you can drive around to the back to park in the lot. read more

Well, I was excited about visiting here, after I had been to one up North. This place may share the name, but they were much different. First, there is limited free parking (1 hour limit) in the back and metered parking in the front. There is also a parking garage in the back. It is located in a small strip mall with a lot of restaurants that did not make it for whatever reason. They have tables and some bar seating in the front, along with a nice patio with seating off of the front sidewalk as well. They also have a self serve water area in the front. too. The place was not very clean. I sat at the bar seating and it looked like it had not been wiped down all day. The floor was also filthy. The workers did their job, no more, no less. You van make your own bowl or chose one of their signature bowls. I felt like living on the wild side and made my own bowl up. With any bowl you go with, you first have to chose a base. I went with the traditional sushi rice over the brown rice and spring mix salad. I then have to choose my protein. Your size determines how many scoops you get. The regular called for 2 scoops and I got a scoop of spicy tuna and a scoop of marinated salmon. You can also get octopus, tofu, and shrimp. Then you top it off with various toppings/ingredients and sauces. I must admit that my bowl was very good, loaded with protein. The restaurant had music playing in the background and has somewhat of a chill vibe. Unlike the other location that I have been to, this place did not have shaved ice, just poke. One of my most craved meals. I'm always down to order a bowl. Local owner Jasmine is very impressive and detail-oriented, as are her staff. The poke and toppings always seem incredibly fresh, and I'm in love with the menu offerings. While this was their first location, they now have a Carmel, Fishers, and Zionsville location too. (The Carmel and Zionsville locations also have authentic Hawaiian shave ice!) This location won a spot on Yelp's "top 100 restaurants in the US" in 2019 due to their perfect reviews. They were the only restaurant in Indiana that made this list. Very impressive. This time around, I ordered a regular-sized bowl via the online delivery system on their Yelp page. It came quickly and was well-packaged. I went with one scoop of marinated tuna (raw) and one scoop of spicy tuna (raw on my bowl. I'm not usually a fan of spice, but the flavor is so good that I do half and half. I always get a base of half brown rice and half lettuce, as well as the Ali'i Poke (House Version) toppings. They include edamame, cucumber, pickled ginger. seaweed salad, watermelon radish, avocado, unagi sauce, and creamy miso sauce. It's all soooooooo good. Not a raw fish fan? They also offer cooked shrimp and tofu, or you can opt out of a protein topping and load it up with fresh veggies. You'll love it no matter what! read more

I can't believe I had never been to Ali'i Poke before now! I have been a huge fan of Poke Bowls in the last couple years, but I always struggle to find one that's exactly what I want. I am a fan of any place that lets me customize my bowl to the way I like, but it's safe to say that the employees at Ali'i Poke know how to add an extra touch to make it extra enjoyable. I got a bowl with white rice and spicy tuna as my base. Let me just say that they LOADED my bowl up with both rice and tuna. It's refreshing to go somewhere where they are not trying to cheat you on the most filling part of the meal. It was undeniably the best spicy tuna I've had at a poke place. For one, it was actually spicy!! Two, the texture was perfect. Not too chewy, but not too jelly-like either. It's hard to get that perfect intermediate when it comes to tuna, but they succeeded. For the toppings, I tried their pickled cucumbers, and was blown away! I also got my usual poke toppings such as avocado and green onion. One thing that really sets this place apart from others is that their vegetables are consistently chopped to about the same size. I hate when I eat a poke bowl where one piece of onion is giant and one is teeny tiny. I like the size of the vegetables to be consisted so that the taste of the bowl is consistent throughout my meal. It's safe to say that they met that quirky expectation of mine. I finished the bowl toppings with the spicy mayo, sriracha, and furikake. I am just still so blown away but how delicious my meal was. The best part was that I actually had leftovers to enjoy the next day! Price wise, I will admit that it is pricy. However, considering both the quality and quantity of food, it's right around where it needs to be. I would absolutely pay to go there again, and it's definitely my favorite poke place in Indy now! Stopped in for poke first thing when I got into town. Gotta say this wasn't my favorite for a couple of reasons--mainly I wasn't a fan of the sauce options (I got the sesame shoyu and it was nothing like I expected.) I got a large bowl, which was a lot of fish (glad for the price) but felt I didn't get a balanced amount of mix-ins. I'm normally vocal but it's uncomfortable to ask for more after you've already asked for extra when they were stingy on the onions. Enjoyed a delicious poke bowl and soup. I'm a fan of sashimi and found their salmon to be fresh and the marinade had a nice flavor. The rice was decent and I lightened my bowl by getting half rice and half lettuce as a base. They offer lots of topping options. But in the end it's all about the sauces for me. The unagi/eel sauce was sweet and tangy and the spicy mayo had a really nice kick. It was cold out so soup sounded good. Glad I added a cup of the miso because it was tasty...Had a nice amount of tofu and wasn't too salty. Topped it all off with some fresh squeezed lemonade. Food has always been fresh and oh my stars, SO GOOD!!! At first I didn't think it was a large portion but part way through I knew it was more than enough! Their selection of raw protein is always fresh (as is their vegetables and toppings), and they also have tofu and shrimp for those who aren't a fan of raw seafood. Just moved from Hawaii, I have struggled to find somewhere in Indy where I can get a decent bowl of fish that isn't 90% vegetables. Ali'i poke got it right and gives Indy the Hawaii flare that a poke stop should have. You walk in and are welcomed with a warm "Aloha". The decor reminds me a lot of Hawaii as well, with large prints of historic views and landmarks of Oahu. You'll also hear traditional Hawaiian music playing--really setting that Hawaii vibe. The ambience isn't the only thing setting them apart from other poke stops in Indy--it's the process too. You can either get a bowl off their menu or you can build your own (which is what I always do). You've got way more options of toppings here--from wasabi Mayo and Unagi sauce to Furikake and kelp. Ali'i poke has been a new favorite of mine not just for poke, but also for when I'm feeling homesick. I've only visited the fishers location, but I was excited to find out they have one in town as well. Disclaimer: every meal created here is worth a pretty photo. Flavors and colors galore. The space offers plentiful outdoor patio seating along with a handful of tables inside. Diners work their way down the line to choose between brown and sushi rice, tofu, poke, veggies like cucumbers, chives, edamame and pickled ginger. There are at least eight sauces to choose from and the staff is very accommodating with food allergies. Note: I have a seafood allergy and have to be cautious with seafood-heavy spots like this. So, I had a chance to try the Carmel location as part of a Yelp event and in talking with the owner, learned they also owned/ran this location that is just a short walk from my office downtown! Yay! I had a small bowl, which is the perfect size for lunch, with marinated tuna, rice and greens as the base, and the house toppings. It was fresh, delicious and looked so good to some of my coworkers when I returned with my bowl that I think more business will be coming Ali'i Poke's way soon! Seriously, the small size might not look big, but it is packed full of so much good, filling ingredients including a very generous scoop of whatever protein you select. I'd been stalking this place for a while now, as soon as I noticed their sign at 10th & Indiana. After coming back from a trip to California, it was my son who first introduced me to poke (a diced, marinated fish salad....pronounced 'po-kay'). At the time, Indy didn't have a poke restaurant so it was a while before I got to try poke for myself. Being a Pacific Island native, I was an instant fan...the flavors remind me of home! I'm thrilled that Ali'i Poke is finally open at this location close to my house and close to downtown. I could have opted to choose my own toppings, but I was afraid I'd miss out on good flavor combinations if I stuck to my usual favorites, so I went with the Ali'i Poke House Version on sushi rice with marinated tuna. Definitely happy with this decision! Seaweed salad and watermelon radish were both ingredients I probably would've have missed out on because I wasn't familiar with them, but my future bowls will likely include both ingredients. The crunch of the watermelon radish was unexpected and really added good texture to balance the rest of the items. Flavor wise, poke is really no different than sushi, but a poke bowl is certainly a better value. I feel like my usual sushi choices leave my either still hungry or broke, but at $9.50 for the regular size bowl, I'll probably be opting for poke and it will be enough for a meal plus a snack later. Parking for all the businesses at this location is a bit tricky. There's limited metered spots on 10th in front of the strip, and a handful of free spots behind the building. Oh my. Y'all. I had no idea what I was getting, and I am blessed after being here. First off, I've never been to a poke (po-kay) restaurant before. I had 'poke' from Kroger via their seafood dept (note: NOT THE SAME THING AT ALL. LOL). This is right on Indiana Ave next to Stacked Pickle, so a great location. There are 15 min- 60 min parking spots behind the strip of restaurants but there is also a parking garage; if you visit the restaurant your first hour is free. Therefore, logistically there are not really issues to visit. Customer service was excellent. This may be the only poke spot in Indy, so when you walk in they asked if I had been there before or had poke, and then they walked me through their process. Like Chipotle, you get to give directions on picking your base (different types of rice, spring mix, or chips) and protein. From the latter, for a "regular" size, you get two scoops of meat and you can have each scoop be a different meat (I got marinated salmon and regular salmon. The toppings can either be a "signature" choice already designed for you or a choose-your-own. The toppings are diverse - fruit (pineapple and mango), edamame, seaweed, cucumbers, avocado, and more. There are sauces (they let you sample them) and other toppings at the end (spices, seaweed,crackers). These are high quality ingredients, and I can't believe I only spent $9.50 + tax for a regular size. Also: I was full half-way through eating the regular size. They also have a large for $12.50. Finally some fresh healthy takeout! If you're a poke lover and have a big appetite then this is the place for you! For about 13 dollars my husband got a large bowl with octopus, tuna, crab and masago. This boy eats burgers by the bucket and one plate of poke was more than enough to keep him happy the whole night! I am so surprised I have not been here before! We walked in and the place was empty, but the workers were working fast fulfilling online orders.
