They scheduled pick up at my house within a week despite having a high demand for wedding dress cleaning at the time, and sent me an update about what they were planning to do once they had their wedding dress expert take a look at the dress. Their turnaround time was much faster than I expected and they even sent pictures right after the cleaning was finished so I could see how well it came out! I had not requested a steaming since I didn't have plans to use the dress again anytime soon, but they did one complimentary for me which made the dress look absolutely stunning and like it was brand new. There was not a single residual stain left and the dress did not smell like anything - it was just perfectly clean. This is a 50-year-old heirloom where each piece has a story, and it is an ongoing project. Given there were signs everywhere emphasizing their no-strinkage safety with cotton fabrics, I stupidity trusted it. It returned shrunk, each tiny piece slightly smaller and buckled, therefore not matching the ongoing work at home, and many pieces ripped off. AND the tiny stain still remained. I had a near heart attack. Staff insisted they could "fix it". I returned take 2, stain still there, but quick shoddy repair of ripped pieces and they (kindly) insisted I did not have to pay for their mistake. Then, I spent 2 weeks at home re-calibrating to the shrunk piece, and another week removing ruined torn pieces (some were over a 100 years). Lesson learnt. Literally screaming for 20 minutes straight as she argued with me that I told her the wrong length and that the unevenness was a factory defect, not her fault. She also claimed that no one had ever complained before, which I seriously can't believe. I can't express enough that she was literally yelling at me. I paid $90 for this hemming job. Once she seemed to lose her patience, she started asking me if I didn't understand her English. My parents are first generation immigrants. I grew up with "broken" English. The fact that she would start accusing me of not understanding her English and yelling at me instead of acknowledging her mistake really shows that she doesn't care about her customers. She also tried to guilt me, saying that my dress had a ton of fabric and it was so difficult to hem. Again, I paid $90 for this, presumably because it was so much yardage.
