A complete hidden gem! We had no idea such a great pizza place was close by as this restaurant doesn't come up in the usual searches for some reason. We are big fans of Napolese pizza and this place really is authentic. Before discovering this place. We would go to Pupatella, but this place beats Pupatella. Just go, you won't be disappointed. This place is a hidden gem. The pizza is easily among the best in Arlington and frankly among the best I've had, which isn't surprising given it's certified by the Neapolitan Pizza Association. My bride of 48 years and I decided it was time to treat ourselves to a real spaghetti dinner at a good Italian restaurant, after isolating for over 3 years. During that time we've adopted a plant-based diet, so we really wanted something with excellent basic pasta and a flavorful non-meat or dairy sauce, A Modo Mio's online menu seemed to offer just what we wanted. WE WERE RIGHT. We ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro - pasta with a cherry tomato sauce. Just what we wanted. Paired with a side salad and a bottle of chianti this meal was just what we needed and wanted. To top it off, the evening was 72 degrees so we sat in the outdoor "patio" added during the pandemic. What a way to kick off the binds of the pandemic. I know we will be back in the future. We weren't sure what to expect, as this restaurant had changed from being a pizzeria and salad buffet hangout we visited multiple times over the decades. For appetizers- we ordered the burratta e funghi and also the foccaccia bread. Both were delicious. The highlight was the pizza! I love il Canale and had to try A Modo Mio, especially since they're one of the best pizza places in the country. They didn't disappoint, the menu is the same as il Canale, but this location is a little quieter and has free parking. read more

Food is excellent authentic Italian (and I've been to Italy). The Napoletana pizza with the "00" flour pizza is light and airy and baked in a wood fire oven. The pasta is delicious the wine is excellent! Please note that authentic Italian food is not as salty as American Italian food. Expect higher quality ingredients. Great pizza. Had the modo Mia pizza and highly recommend. It's thin crust with prosciutto, arugula and kalameta olives. Tis is one of the better pizza establishments in NoVA in my opinion. The noise level is a little loud as they have a lot of families with kids who dine there. But it wasn't overwhelming. I ate at the bar since the restaurant was very busy on a Wednesday night. Our lunch was great! This is our first time after the name has changed from: Joe's Pizza to A Modo Mio. We liked this place before, so we came back and try. Our dishes were: Burrata Cheese with many mushrooms in truffles oil; Caesar salad; and a family size Meat Lover Pizza. All three were delicious. The pizza was chewy and you can smell nice flavor from the dough; mushrooms were very good and you definitely could make it better by adding some wine vinegar: Caesar salad seasoning well. Yum! What a wonderful experience. Now, a bottle of wine, a the burrata I fungi, the lasagna vegetariana, the cheesecake and a book ended meal with a frangelico and you must know that the review was going to be good and a little imbibed. My counterpart had the gnocchi and we both were super impressed. Yum, the whole way down. Now, the thing I like best is that we both are VERY good cooks and found ourselves really impressed with the whole meal. Well done :) Awesome service. Great food. Great stuff treatment. Cons: * The menu is missing many Italian classics (Chicken Parmesan, Marsala's, Scampi's, Carbonara's, Alfredo's, etc.) * Many of the pasta menu items just offer "meat sauce", unless you want to add 2 meatballs for $6 (now $7). * Price/value doesn't match up because portions are on the smaller side and many are entrees are skimpy on meat. Overall: If you live nearby, this a nice, casual neighborhood spot to visit. However, being in the DMV there are many other solid Italian spots with greater variety/portions, so I probably would not go out of my to return. read more

We had a very bad experience this Sunday afternoon, Where we were charged $20 extra for veggies to our pasta!!! See photo of our dish and the bill. We were told that for these special (!!!) request we must come on a weekday, because the chef had to cut the veggies and they are busy on weekends!! Please explain what else does the chef do???!!! And here is the photo of the damn empty restaurant with one table behind us that was occupied. Extremely snooty manager/ owner whoever it was in the black outfit. I was extremely underwhelmed by the pasta I received today . The sauce lacks any depth of flavor and for 19.00 an entree, come on guys, throw in a slice of garlic bread. If you want bread, you're gonna have to pay 5.00 for the Focaccia. The meatballs were mealy, lacked any tooth when you bit into it. The reason why I gave two stars is because the Cannoli was tasty. read more

Now I bookmarked this place.. Probably the best hearty Italian food you can taste for the price. Even the side salad was impressive. Romaine lettuce, arugula, super sweet cherry tomatoes... Again, it was just a side. I never thought salmon could be a meat choice for a pasta, but it worked so well. Within a few weeks, this place has become a weekly staple for us. We've tried the Gnocchi Sorrentina--elegant flavors and texture; vegetarian lasagna--the layers are beautiful, the sauce, cheese and vegetables are perfectly proportional. My husband loves the spaghetti amatriciano--the chef was gracious enough to take the feedback on the recipe and change it a bit. Valentine's Dinner at A Modo Mio - I got the flowers and gifts but forgot dinner reservations. I called the restaurant to see if I could make a reservation and they told me they were full, however, if I wanted to walk in, they would try to fit me in. So, we took a chance and just walked in. They said the only option was Bar seating, which we had done before and loved it. We decided on an amazing bottle of wine, 2 personal Pizzas, and a Caesar salad for two. We enjoyed the food and great conversations with others also having dinner at the bar. The establishment also gave out a single rose to female patrons. They keep things open for other patrons to get to their tables and also servers. The food was amazing as always and it was just a fun night out. read more

very decent food, the grilled octopus is always wonderful, the spaghetti is always al dente, not soft. unfortunately, i think they are overpriced - if they want to charge the price they are charging, i think they need to upgrade their interior/staff to add sophistication, pretentiousness, or anything to make the restaurant more expensive looking! you may think i am joking, but i am not! the restaurants need to spell "expensive" if they want to get away with high prices/ over prices. this one spells a nice family restaurant overcharging their dishes. by the way, i don't understand why they don't have squids on their menu. read more

Eating here put me in the best food coma you can ask for. My wife and I were greeted with a smile and were treated well by their staff throughout our experience. Their outdoor space fits several parties and is covered well from the sun. All of the food was delicious. We got Caesar salad, Margherita pizza, the spaghetti al pomodoro and meatballs, gnocchi sorrentina, and tiramisu a la mode (yes that's a lot of food for two people and we had leftovers). We love Neapolitan pizza and this pizza is on the top of our list! Everything was awesome and would definitely go back again once this food coma settles down. read more

Right down the street, Modo is a popular restaurant with pizzas and pasta. I asked for spaghetti aglio e olio with the marinara on the side. I asked from some dipping bread and they served it immediately. My wife was traveling and I walked up and sat at the small counter. Everything is very tasty, the marinara to due for with tomatoes swimming in sauce. They were getting pretty busy as I finished up and I can't say they'd bend the menu as they git very busy but I liked they did. I have had pizza there occasionally and the buffet once or twice over the last few years before the pandemic. Comfortable, decent prices, and that home cooked feeling. read more
