Sides wise the fries were decent, I'd skip the Mac and Cheese as the pasta was mushy and the sauce lacked flavor. Decent spot in a pinch, but there's better spots for hot chicken IMO. Staff was busy so hard to give an opinion, I ordered from a kiosk, which is always a bit of a let down.

In all, we'll try a few more dishes but again, pricey to come here so keep that in mind. I'm all for supporting small business over a chain any day of the week.

An order of four corn burritos costs $7.49. They took about 25 minutes to prepare. They are larger in girth than the Fosters Freeze corn burritos, and thus hold more refried beans. Their red sauce is spicy and distinctive with just a little more vinegar than I would consider optimal. Bare bones presentation with sauce and grated cheese and nothing else. Nice paper container (not styrofoam). See pictures. The chocolate shake was also well made and satisfying. This beloved local institution has been here for a couple generations. It's clean, well run and friendly. The owner was kind and friendly to my dog. I'd come back any time. And they have a new location on Main Street in midtown Ventura now.

That said, when I am in the mood, I love their tri tip sandwich with the spicy barbecue sauce, and dipping it into their beans just takes it to another level. It's so good that way. I also love driving by and seeing the giant chicken on the roof.
