EXCELLENT!!! From the first interaction with Alex of setting the date of our move, to having a home visit, to receiving the estimate, AND EASILY changing our move date forward by one week with Steve, EVERYTHING was handled professionally and efficiently. Alex was very clear in explaining the process of how we would be charged based on weight, gas, milage and time. The day of the move Nolan and Miles were hard working and friendly. Moving is stressful and they didn't add any tension to the situation. In fact, they complimented us on the packing. We had moved 95% of the furniture and boxes close to the front door. I had color coded the boxes with labels that were reflected at the new house. I gave them the floor plan of the new house so they would be a little familiar with it. We moved from a single story to two story. The following day at the new house things went VERY WELL! We all worked together getting boxes and furniture in the assigned rooms and by the time they left our beds were assembled and the fridge was cooling down. Everything arrived in one piece, and we were extremely happy with the experience we shared with them. Even the bottom line invoice was a little less than they estimated!! This place is awesome!! They have moved my house and my business four times, and every time things have gone smooth!! The staff is very friendly, and very helpful. They have really good deal on boxes when you use their moving services. You get 5-6 free and a discount on any additional boxes needed. I was also able to sell the unused boxes back to them much easier than the U-haul place I purchased my first set of boxes from. The movers have always shown up on time, and are very courteous. I have never had a problem with anything breaking, or damaged. They even went so far as taking a door off it's hinges to move my huge chair so they didn't damage the door molding!! I will always use them for any of my moving needs. They really take out most of the stress associated with moving. read more

After visiting this business today I would definitely recommend their services. I was given very honest information on moving/storage and it was even recommended to me that I use another service that would better suit my needs. I love it when a business can be honest enough to recommend another company. The rates were very reasonable in my opinion but much more than I required and the storage is located in a warehouse in Natomas and not what I was looking for. This company offers truck rentals, professional movers, storage and shipping. They also sell things like mattress/sofa covers but were priced extremely high in comparison to Public Storage. I am going to give 3.5 stars for the friendly and honest service but most likely shouldn't give the 4 stars since I haven't ever used their movers. When it's all said and done however, if I ever need movers I am going back to A Better Moving Company for sure. read more

I contacted this company to move my wife's grandmother's oak chest of drawers and mirror from Citrus Heights to Texas. They did a wonderful job of packing it. We have ordered new high end furniture from North Carolina factories that were not as well packed as ABM. They were honest and came when they said they would and charged a fair price. Jeff and Chris moved my mother into a Independent living facility. They did a superb job. I had A Better Moving company move me almost a year and a half ago and I am still finding stuff the movers stole frome me. I could not be everywhere at once - telling them where the funiture went and what stuff went into the house and the garage. One guy stayed on the truck - I should have known better because this happened with another moving company that stole a ton of my stuff. Most of the items cannot be replaced. - You hire movers, invite them into your home to help you and then take advantage of you...... Make sure everything is taped up tightly and have someone to watch the loading and unloading (you can't do it all by yourself - I have learned that the hard way more than once). At least for me, moving is very emotional. Packing up your entire life and starting over. It takes time to get settled and they fact after all this time I am still finding stuff they (the movers) stole - completley pisses me off!!!!! read more

Really outstanding all around! We had them move us and store our stuff for a few months. Everyone we met from the company was friendly, courteous, and conscientious. None of our items were damaged during the move-storage-move process. At move in, they scraped a wall and broke a small sconce but immediately took care of the issues. I have used this co before and they did fine both with cost and movers. However I used them again here august 2013 and one of the movers of the two I do not know his name) kept hounding me every few minutes telling me I was a hoarder! In no way shape or form am I a hoarder! They moved my one bedroom apt and I have very little. I feel it was not his place to be saying that to me, I believe they overcharged me as they stopped working and went to lunch 2hrs after they got there! This is the worst moving company ever. I'm warning you ahead of time. They are scam artist. I have moved twice before and this is the worst experience ever. They showed up late with two guys and one truck. And then later another two come. But they charged us four 4 people from the beginning. The guys work slower than a tortoise and milked it for as many hours as possible. I moved 5 miles and it cost me more for this move than moving across the country. They broke furniture got all my white item dirty and purposely wrecked things cause they were mad about move. I had to ask them several times to move faster and quite messing around Two guys talked poorly about my family in front on me. I would never use this company again. They don't care about your items. Stay as far away as possible. I can't find anything. They threw everything in garage and I can't find anything even though I packed and labeled everything nothing was placed in correct rooms. BEWARE So I have more to add to this report. We have discovered we have several missing boxes. Where they went no ones seems to know. I went through U-Haul's website to find this moving company. Scheduling through U-Haul's website was a breeze and this company called shortly after I requested their services to confirm all information (move start time, location, etc.). They seemed professional on the phone. I followed up with a text to them with the agreed upon details. The next morning at 9 a.m, I received a call to confirm that they were "on the way and would meet me at the address at 10 a.m." They never showed up! I still don't know what happened! Luckily I was able to get a refund through U-haul. Unfortunately, My husband and I had to move everything ourselves, and with a 7 month old infant it wasn't easy! Went through U-haul web site to find movers. I didn't know I just found a great company. The company was very professional, they showed care, they helped make my move easier and less stressful. I had hired them to unload. They communicated to me when I was going to arrive. They stayed until all was unpacked off the truck all blankets folded all rental equipment was ready to go. Better Moving Company is top notch! I have used A Better Moving Company 3 times in the last 4 years. I am not talking small moves either. I am talking 2 days, 2 truck loads and some very heavy furniture, not always in the greatest circumstances. Steve the Manager always let me know in advance the approximate price which was very accurate and fair. What a Character ! The Job Manager Kyle always took the time to make sure my furniture was protected and moved safely. In April, my husband and I contracted with A Better Moving & Storage Co to move our belongings from Sacramento, California to Valencia, Spain. They were recommended by a close friend who recently moved to West Africa. We had a lot of valuable antiques, old grandfather clock, and small furniture to be shipped overseas. Steve Sterns, the manager of A Better Moving & Storage Co, assigned John and Steve as our packers and loaders. They were both very professional and conscientious. We had a sectional we needed to pick up from Phoenix, AZ.. We originally thought we could do the drive ourselves and get it, but "stuff" happened and we could not. We live in the foothills outside of Auburn and were thinking this was going to really cost a fortune, to hire a company to go get it for us, and who knows how long it would take to arrive . We were wrong, it was a really reasonable price, and they only asked if we could wait until they had a load ready to take down to Phoenix so they didn't have to go empty coming or going. No problem for us, and sure enough, just as they said, they left on a Thurs and told us it would be in Sacto on Monday. It was and in perfect condition. They helped us load everything into our own truck and trailer and were as nice and professional as could be. If we had wanted them to deliver to our door they would have. I should have known this company was horrible from the 1st time they missed my appointment, but we were in a tight spot and needed to move pretty quick. When moving day fianlly arrived, my husband did a majority of the work, as the movers were very slow and terrible at packing their own truck to maximize space. It took them all day, went way over our quote, and when they said they were done, it took my husband and I another 3 hours to move the rest of our belongings. When I called to complain about moving our own things after being charged over $1200, they offered a $100 refund, which to this day I've never seen. I chose this moving company after several calls to various movers. I spoke with their office person, Marissa, who answered my questions and offered what I thought was good advice for my move, on 5/27/2011. I was only moving 17 miles to my new home. I lived in a 1322 sq.ft. home; 3 BR, 2Ba. Small, but lots of stuff, as we had lived there for 13 years. My husband was out of town, so I was doing the move by myself. Marissa had suggested that I hire 4 men and 2 24ft. trucks. When asked about appliances, BBQ, patio furniture, etc., I hadn't thought about all of these items...so that sounded like the right thing to do. The price she quoted seemed very fair...I made sure to ask about any other charges, she assured that the price was per hour, estimated for 8 hours, possibly less; using 4 men. So I booked it. I asked what time they started, she said about 8am. Allow for commute time should be at my house by 9am or there abouts. I called the day before to make sure everything was set, all was good. The morning of 5/27, by 9:20 they still had not arrived. I called the company...they were on their way. They showed up at 9:30. We went over the contract, the quote was correct. They stated to show them the rooms, and they would get busy. The last words from this guys mouth was "we do accept gratuities, we prefer cash, cuz if it goes on a credit , we may not get it." I stated I had cash, no problem, let's see how you do! They all got busy moving things, most of my stuff was packed with all boxes labeled where to go. I told them whatever was not boxed up, not to worry about, we would get it later. At around 12:30pm, they started saying they were hungry...any good pizza places around? So I mentioned to them what I knew in the area. My friend who was their with me, noticed an dramatic "slow down". At about 1pm, they stopped and asked if found a pizza place...so I called & got pizza delivered & I paid for it. Not a big deal. However, they were in even slower motion after lunch! They finally got the 2 trucks packed, one was full, the other one was only 1/3 full. Left my house at 3pm. It only takes 15-20 minutes to the new house, I left at 3:30pm, got to the house at 3:50pm, they were not there! They showed up at 4:15pm! When I asked what took so long, he changed the subject! However, they did all leave their Carl's Jr. garbage In my driveway! They finished up at 8:30pm. During that time they restocked the 2 trucks, did not put boxes where they were supposed go...and took smoking breaks walking up & down my block! At check out time, time to sign & collect the money, here come the "extra" charges! Gas, gas time, travel time, overtime....I told them that I was not happy about this. My bill went from $1596 to $ 2760.50! I could not believe it! I told them I was going to call their manager to complain about the "hidden" charges. They were oblivious! Asked if I was upset with their services!!! I am still fuming over this! I have spoken with various people trying to get resolved no avail. They said they would credit back the gas charges, pizza cost & overtime charge. Nothing yet! I would NEVER recommend this moving company to anyone. They were gone for an hour for lunch but made us charge for a half hour of that, they were really slow trying to milk their time and they start charging you right as they get here to the point of you signing the bill.
