Shady business. I completed the form on their website for a quote. Within 10 seconds of hitting submit I got a call from a 619 (San Diego) area code regarding my moving estimate. The guy asked me how big the house is and if I have anything over 300 lbs. That was it. He then gave me a quote that was ridiculously lower than all the other quotes I had gotten and said if I want to reserve the date I need to put down a $200 deposit. I said no thanks, I'm still getting quotes. He then said if I reserve today he'll give me a 5% discount. I said I'll think about it. Later that day he called me again, texted me, and emailed me to ask if I wanted to reserve the move and he called me again today and left a message. Everything about this says it's a scam. I would not use this company. And by the way, I've gotten about 8 quotes at this point and not one company other than Double Move has asked for a deposit. read more

My husband got a quote from Kenny on June 2 to move our stuff from Palmdale California to Glendale Arizona. We paid the deposit on June 2 then on June 7 we canceled their service because it was better to sell everything and just buy new stuff when we got to Arizona. However, I feel obligated to share my experience with Double Move so others can make an informed decision. To be fair the staff and movers were courteous and professional. My issue is with the enormous differerence between the estimated quote and the final cost. I was originally quoted $ 5,334.00 but my final bill came to $9,282.00. Nearly $4,000 more than expected. I understand that moving estimates can change, and I would have expected some variation. But a difference of this magnitue feels unacceptable. By the time the movers arrived at 8:20 in the morning with the cost - our belongings needing to be out the the next day, I felt like I had no real choice but to proceed. There were also communication issues throughout the process, but the unexpected pricing was by far the most upestting part. This experience has been incredibly stressful and heartbreaking for me. Double Move has the worst communication skills. I can't tell you how many times I would call to find out what's going on with my stuff. I would either get short answers or get hunged up on multiple times. They are not professional at all. They took a whole month to deliver it without telling me what's going on and where's my stuff. Double Move did not honor or come through on one thing in our move. They were 8 hours late for the pick up. Then promised to take our load straight through to our destination, instead moved it to a bigger truck mishandling our items breaking many of our packed things. They went to Seattle where it rained and there was a leak in the truck which soaked over 50 boxes which the movers tried to hide. They also charged over 2,000.00 more even though we went through our items 3 times to insure we were accurate with the amount we had to move. The movers did not start to unload until after 6:00 pm mishandling many items, they told me they had to be 400 miles away next to work so they were tired and hurried with no regard to our belongings. I had to make them reassemble furniture instead of them doing what they were contracted to do. Communication with Brian was great until the account was paid in full. When the move was finished he promised to help and with/hold payment to the movers. Then we never heard from him again would not return phone calls or text. The movers took 6 hours to move boxes, disassemble beds, and a few miscellaneous big items from a 1 story two bedroom.. travel, then reassemble, move boxes, and carry in the few miscellaneous big items to a two story two bedroom. The move went smoothly, besides a few (now known) scratches in my bed frame. Fortunately, I can fix them with paint. One scratch was found during the move and Sergei was very kind and felt remorseful, compensating a discount. You're moving, things happen and things can be fixed. I reached out to Double Move, along with several other movers on Yelp in order to help us move our house into storage. Out of all the responses I received on Yelp, Double Move was the most proactive in reaching out and getting me lined up on their schedule. Thanks to Tina at Double Move, and her proactive communication, I booked them for a move on Saturday January 18. Evan and Alex showed up right on schedule. I showed them what needed to be move once, and they went on their way wrapping everything and protecting appliances, tables, etc to prevent any damage from the move. For just being 2 guys, these guys moved quick and were able to get the entire house done and into the truck. They then met us at our storage unit (our new home is not done being built) and unloaded and stacked everything in storage utilizing every bit of available space they could find. These guys were awesome, thorough and transparent and were careful with how things were moved to prevent any damage to the floors and walls. My roommate and I were fooled by these reviews into thinking we'd get an affordable, smooth move with Evan's team. But it was a nightmare--stressful, overpriced, and downright uncomfortable. THE ONLY POSITIVE: -- Our stuff was wrapped and (mostly) transported safely, in 99-degree heat. One glass tumbler broke but the rest was fine. ALL THE NEGATIVES: -- The movers were slow and inexperienced. What should've been a 3-hour job dragged out to 7 hours, costing us MORE THAN DOUBLE the estimate. -- We were left waiting for hours in our new apartment with no communication. Calls went to voicemail, and texts were ignored. We were stranded without our belongings, food, or even glasses to drink from, growing hungrier and more frustrated and helpless. -- After charging an outrageous price, they had the nerve to passive-aggressively pressure me about the tip -- rude and unprofessional! -- The worst part? After payment, they REFUSED TO LEAVE until I wrote a review right in front of them, watching my phone the whole time. As two women alone with large male movers, this was an uncomfortable, intimidating, and unsafe situation. Double move showed up on time and with all 4 guys as promised. However, we had more 'stuff' than the truck could handle so we had to do two trips. The guys moved fast - but almost too fast. We had some furniture damaged, lamp frames bent. Hey, it happens right. The only complaint I have is the guys packed the boxes too high for me to reach. They were over 5 feet stacked. I normally don't write a review; however, I am very unhappy with my service. I even called them to tell them about the complaints and was told they would call me back the next day to fix. It has been 2 days and I have not heard from them. First off, they were 40 minutes late. They didn't notify us of being late. I called them and they said they'll be there in 10 minutes but that wasn't the case. It was hard to communicate with the movers. Since it was hard to communicate, they almost broke our Kamado bbq/smoker which luckily my boyfriend caught. They also broke several other items .. One of them is a hand painted picture of my boyfriends long lost dog... luckily it was only to the frame and not the painting because it's irreplaceable. Since they offer a cheaper price with cash, we went that route. When it came to pay, they didn't have the change (We paid for 3 hr min when the work was about 1hr). They kept going back and forth about how they didn't have change and finally zelle us change. If you're going to offer a cash discount, make sure your employees carry cash. It felt more like they were entitled to get what they could give back to us in change. read more
