We contacted James via Yelp based on many reviews. We needed our entire house moved locally. I spoke to him on the phone a few times to discuss how many trucks and guys we would need. We booked our move date and kept on packing. James and Will and Jeremy and Taylor showed up with two trucks and a great attitude. All of them introduced themselves and we did a walkthrough of the house. Then they just got started.... Shrink wrapped everything that was light colored and then blanket wrapped and shrink wrapped again. Everything was so very well wrapped! We mainly had bigger furniture to move, along with a large and heavy massage chair, so it took some time to wrap things for inserting the, into the trucks. I was so glad we decided on two trucks as it would have been much harder to get everything into one. When we got to the new house, we did another walkthrough so everyone would know where things would go. Then they just started unloading items and putting things together. We had zero damage to both our old house and the new house. And all of our furniture was put in the right location at the new place. Before they left, they went through the house with me to make sure everything was situated properly. They even leveled the washer and dryer. I called James yesterday with a problem sofa that took four people to bring into my house through the second floor balcony and that one moving company denied to move to my new house. James asks for the measurements and some pictures and we scheduled a move of the sofa for the next day. Mike and Sharif showed up and did the move of the sofa with precision movements through the front door! These two guys maneuvered that sofa like a jumbo jet through the eye of a needle. We hired Extra Care Movers to disconnect and move a 48" built-in refrigerator across town. We communicated with James, the owner, and received a quote of $365 for the job. We informed him that the refrigerator was still connected, was located on hardwood floors, and needed to be handled carefully. We purchased the refrigerator from a seller on Marketplace and met him at his home in a retirement community when the movers arrived. The Extra Care Movers crew consisted of two gentlemen, one of whom was James' brother. The seller, who lived in a well-maintained home, reasonably wanted to ensure his hardwood floors weren't damaged. When he asked if they were comfortable moving the unit and if they would protect the floors, James' brother snapped, "We do this all the time." It was clear from the start that he was already in a bad mood and dismissed the seller's concerns. Once they began, the movers struggled to lower the wheels and raise the stabilizing legs. They insisted that the refrigerator would have to be dragged several feet across the floor to get it on the dolly and stated that they would not be liable for the damage to the floor. When shown a video demonstrating how to properly lower the wheels, James' brother still refused to proceed unless given permission to drag the unit. When refused permission to drag the unit, he became visibly frustrated, shouted, "Jesus Christ, this is ridiculous," and stormed out of the house. His coworker, who remained professional throughout, appeared uncomfortable with the situation and apologized for his behavior. Meanwhile, James' brother started the moving truck outside and aggressively revved the engine for several minutes while we were still talking with his coworker, creating an unnecessary and hostile atmosphere. When we contacted James, he initially claimed that he had not been informed about the refrigerator's size and that the job required three movers. We provided our prior messages confirming that he had quoted the job based on the correct details. James then acknowledged the information had been provided and offered to send an additional mover. By that point, we had arranged for another company to complete the move. Their two movers lowered the wheels without issue and moved the refrigerator in under an hour for $250. We did not pay Extra Care Movers for services not rendered, and James accepted this outcome. read more

Their "Insurance" that they offer is a joke. False advertising, even. The team broke a leg off a HEAVY piece of furniture. Accidents happen and it was a big, 7.5 hour move, so something damaged is expected. I tried to claim my $0.60/lb insurance with James after the team left and all he did was send his guys back into the house for them to argue with me and accuse me of causing the damage myself. The one guy was great, but clearly afraid of getting in trouble with his obviously terrible boss: He offered to try to put some screws in it to "repair" the leg and even tried to give me money out of his own pocket. Not worth the risk of it falling over, alas, and no way was I going to take money from one of these very hard workers! Advice: If you do choose this company, I would suggest that you demand an ACCURATE quote. The move costed me DOUBLE what I had budgeted for and took more than twice as long as I was originally led to believe. read more

I hired the ECM in June when I'd found out suddenly I had to move after 31 years at the same place! Needles to say I checked reviews and sent out a Yelp request for movers. ECM wrote and after a talk with the owner, I hired them for the next month. July 10th came along and a great crew of 3 strong, young, professional men showed up. From the moment that Jay introduced himself and explained more about the service, they were on the project (wrapping things I'd forgotten, disassembling furniture, asking good questions about how things were to be handled, etc.). Jovial and careful with my things, after about 8 hours, all my things were moved and I was happy they were able to do it even on THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR! We settled up the bill and I was able to pay by Apple Pay. I was so glad I had hired them (the cost was totally worth it and a good value for the money, especially as it saved my old back and having to get friends to help as it was on a week day), so that it actually came in at a price I had planned on.
