After my personal experience with this company, I'd feel confident recommending them to my clients, friends, and family. And not because things went perfectly. Scheduling the move with Nicole was easy and their prices are fantastic. (If you think movers are expensive, consider the work and time they are saving you!! It is truly a bargain and these guys work their butts off.) However the day of the move due to some miscommunication on both sides (mine and theirs), things went a little sideways. Our move was important, I'm sure everyone's is, but ours was even more important than we would normally feel a move is, due to the fact our daughter is having surgery tomorrow morning and we really needed to be settled. It just wasn't possible to plan more ahead for the situation. When everything goes well and a company does a great job, that's always nice. But when things don't go perfectly and a company has to respond, the way they respond is very telling. Tetris dropped everything to make our move happen, sent us a crew of 3 (one more than originally booked) who all worked hard for long hours on a Sunday, and by the way they handled it all, it was obvious things typically go smoothly for them because they were so organized and able to pivot the way they did. After some of my belongings were already loaded, their pace significantly slowed. They repeatedly stated that I had too much stuff and that the job would take much longer. The move ultimately took 8 hours instead of the estimated 4 hours, doubling the expected cost.

The team, Eugene, Mark, Baka (?) arrived promptly to our morning appointment. They moved with good speed to move our 50+ items, including some irregularly shaped ones (eg gym equipment and bikes). Suits were packed into wardrobe boxes for us. They were friendly. Large tables were disassembled and reassembled with aplomb. One mishap: their truck battery died and needed a start causing some delay but they managed a quick resolution. Main shortcomings: - transparency in pricing--the quote was rather far from the final bill and the components of the final bill were not all clear up front. - there were some minor language barrier issues in communication but generally clear. - there was an uncomfortable and rather insistent ask at the end as they were wrapping for us to leave a review and paste it across platforms--all this before they'd even given the final bill. Odd request, and one the business would do better to nix next time. Let your work speak for itself. Summary: solid option for moves in the Bay Area but if you're price-sensitive ask for detail up front how the bill will be calculated. read more

I needed help moving a 6bdrm 4 bth house at the last minute. The moving company I hired overbooked and had to drop us from their schedule. I went online & found the website: thumbtack. Smart People Moving was listed as a highly recommended moving company. I direct messaged Aleks from the company and he immediately put me on the schedule. I can't say enough about their professionalism, partial packing, & how carefully they loaded the trucks. We had quite a bit of furniture, pictures, artwork, televisions,knick nacks and other assorted items that needed to be taken.. The job took 2 days. It was done with 3 of the most well prepared and organized team of movers. The price was very reasonable and was 100's less than the competition. I had such a great experience with my movers Eugene and Nick today! They showed up right on time, worked quickly, and handled everything with so much care. Both of them were friendly, professional, and clearly knew what they were doing -- they made the whole process feel smooth and stress-free. What I appreciated most was how efficient they were -- no wasted time, but they were still careful with all of my furniture and belongings. They navigated tight spaces, long hallways, and elevators without any issues, and they even helped me set things up exactly where I wanted them. We had to have a move for our office again this year and the companies that I was calling where giving me ginormous prices with a late schedule! These guys helped me move from San Francisco to Burbank (very stressful time for me), but they made a schedule for move once I called and came on time, wrapped everything carefully and and answered about all of our concerns before the move! They delivered everything the next day and went about and beyond witH their cautious ness and service. Helped me and my sister with a small assembly and it was actually the first time we didn't have a broken office item!!!! We have a lot of glass lol. We ordered these movers to move us from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We had a lot of furniture and It was a huge concern for us. But honestly I was relieved from the moment I met with the team. They called before to confirm the move , they came on time. They started carefully packing our furniture everything was rapped. They were very friendly and gave us good advices about how we can pack our small stuff. They delivered everything the next day, as a courtesy we bought them lunch and we all had I it together, I wanted them to know that we really appreciate the hard work. And the great customer service. I don't think I would worry about moving next time!! I would definitely ask them to move again. I already recommended them to my Friends and coworkers in San Francisco. I feel very lucky to have found smart people moving on the day of in the morning, and they were very quick to respond, and even shorten the window of arrival from their regular two hours to 15 minutes and they got to the location on time. Eugine and Borris were super nice, and we realize that we were missing an item, and they were so nice to go back to retrieve the item and brought it back. Both of the gentlemen were super polite and considerate around us, surroundings, and everything was wrapped really carefully and nicely, and they moved items with a great care. I highly recommend this companies, so anybody does considering moving within San Francisco, the rates are great, and the work is efficient. We moved from our 1 BR SF Apartment to our house across the Bay. Elmer & Miguel were incredibly helpful. They were punctual (even arriving early for our 8 AM appointment), and quickly helped us pack up our apartment. They packed our couch, TV stand, coffee table, Queen size bed and mattress, dresser, Peloton, and some drawers. They packed everything up quickly and safely (lots of packing tape & blankets), drove it over to the new place, and unpacked everything so fast. They helped us with some extra items we needed to move and even quickly assembled our complex bed frame. They had a great attitude and I would work with them anytime. I just unloaded my pod after two months in storage . I also told myself that I would only leave a review after I unpacked all of my belongings from storage !. Nothing was damaged as I was worried . I had a lot of precious / high end electronics that I did not want to replace ! The movers packed my items tightly ! You may need to secure your own boxes and moving blankets and materials which helped me a lot . I requested two packers/ movers and honestly I should have requested more to be more time efficient ! At the end of the day my items weren't damaged and that is what matters the most . I recommend this coming for moves . Compared to other moving companies I have hired, Smart Moving was relatively slow. We requested three movers for our moving day. They arrived on time, and I must commend Eugene for his hard work and efficiency. The driver also assisted with the move and did a satisfactory job. However, one of the movers was quite slow, taking only a few items per trip and frequently taking breaks to smoke or talk on the phone. This significantly affected the overall efficiency and seemed unprofessional. Additionally, out of the three movers, only Eugene spoke English, making it challenging to give instructions to the other two. Adin and Adilet were the epitome of "smart people" moving today! They were easy to communicate with and were so careful with our bulky furniture and fragile pieces. We were impressed by how well they wrapped everything and loaded their truck in a strategic manner so that unloading would be efficient. We had our items moved to a storage unit where they also loaded the space very efficiently. We also added a second delivery location at the last minute for our big couch and they gladly delivered it. It was too big to turn a corner inside the house so they took the time to take off the legs of the couch and then put them back on. We will definitely hire them again! read more
