Khao Soi with Tofu
Lauren D.

Started visiting 9Thai via recommendation from a friend and raving reviews on how good the Khao Soi is. Let me tell you, we've tried it at many of the best Thai restaurants in Denver and this seems to be the best! We've never eaten in, but ordering takeout is a breeze and the food is always ready upon arrival. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is usually medium busy. It's a cute little place on Colfax, not a ton of space to park but usually easy to grab quick street parking. The Khao Soi is fantastic - the fried chicken version is delicious and if you ask they will allow you to get a Tofu version as well. We've also tried the Pad Thai which was a bi disappointing, but the curries are where they really stand out. We drive nearly 40 minutes just for the Khao Soi! Well worth the visit.

Larb Chicken ($12.50)

The food here was okay. Not terrible, but I have had better Thai food. The drunken noodles were not great. It lacked flavor. The larb chicken was good, but I wish it was served with lettuce and not small quartered pieces of cabbage. The papaya salad had too many chunky tomatoes and not enough papaya. The bathroom was a little weird - very small and not very clean. The service was good. We were the only ones there so if we needed anything, our server was ready to attend to us.

Street Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, Crab Cheese Wonton

We love 9 Thai. Come here often for take out. The staff is so friendly. And every we've tried is so good but street pad thai is our favorite.

Drunken noodles

Stopped by to grab lunch - got drunken noodles and a Thai tea! Drunken noodles (3/5) - honestly for Denver this might be a 4/5, but comparing it to other drunken noodles I've had I would say that they taste good for what they are, but they are the incorrect flavor for drunken noodles. They're overly sweet and lack the umami and wok hei flavor for pad kee Mao. I also ordered it hot, and it was not spicy compared to Thai hot. I feel like what I got for hot is a mild or medium level spice. I got it with tofu and typically it's with the deep fried tofu, this tasted more like normal tofu pan fried. They were generous with the tofu pieces which I appreciated. Portions are good and prices are good! Noodles were a good consistency and although it was not a traditional drunken noodle flavor, the flavors were well developed. The Thai iced tea was good but could be a bit richer as it tasted watered down.

I've been here twice and really enjoyed it both times. I ordered the drunken noodles the first time and the street pad Thai the second time. The drunken noodles were good but the pad Thai was out of this world! So great I can't wait to go back. I love the ambiance and the service is quick. Definitely recommend!

Vegetable Pad Thai

I ordered to-go from this place. Even though it's on a busy street - I was able to pull up pretty close and park along the street. I walked in and also got a soda from the cooler fridge behind the counter. The place is pretty small so I imagine they mostly do takeout. I ordered the Pad Thai (just plain) and was asked about heat level. My fiancé said he told them "low." He got the Basil Fried rice with the highest heat level. The food was ready when they told us (15 minutes). They guy who helped me was very nice and talkative. He let me know I was the first customer of the day. We got a ton of food for the one dish. My fiancé really enjoyed his fried rice - he at the whole thing. My pad thai was just okay. It was a little more dry than expected and it was way more spicier than expected. I can handle spice but I don't like when it turns my mouth numb and the taste takes over everything else. The price for the two dishes also seemed high seeing as though we didn't get protein in either.

Food was great! They're not kidding around with the spice level - so be on the cautious side and get hot sauce on the side!

Ambiance fine, prices fine. Food okay but lacking in flavor and over salted. Service could be better.

Would absolutely come back here. I loved the menu options and quality of the food we ordered. I'm…read morestill thinking about the tuna temaki (diy handrolls). We also ordered the chicken karaage with kung Pao sauce/toppings. The staff also brought the shaved broccoli for us to try, which was so nice. Our waiter recommended 4 shareables for the 2 of us, but we felt like 3 dishes (1 veg, 1 protein, 1 noodle/rice) was the perfect amount. On a Saturday night the music inside was pretty loud making it difficult to have conversations at the table, so we requested outside seating and loved that experience in nice weather. The tables were also pretty close inside. If you like the busier ambiance like that, then indoor seating would be a fun vibe!

Kawani definitely is the place to go to grab some really good drinks and bites. Very fun, chill…read morevibe that is energetic and romantic. My husband got their Japanese whiskey and we were very impressed. Food wise, kinda meh....and overpriced for the quality. A little disappointed that the dishes we got were very Americanized and felt like we could get better foods elsewhere. Their karage reminded me of Panda Express. But, I would say their cold sesame noodle was very good! Our servers were great and took good care of us even when it got busy. All in all, I think it's a place to bring friends to chit chat, enjoy good drinks and bites, immerse in good vibes. However, if you are looking for authentic Japanese food, Sushi Den and Temaki Den are better options.

Uncle is a small, Asian fusion shrine that one should place on your must visit list. In the Northwest area of Denver, Uncle has limited seating and a show if you sit at the bar. Reservations are strongly suggested and well worth the wait. Crazy combinations, flavor bombs throughout and a culinary delight you won't regret. Tonight, we sat at the bar and watched the magic happen. These guys are cranking out amazing and delectable treats you won't forget. The Uncle salad was a great starter with charred cabbage, lemongrass, mint, cilantro, arugula, and peanuts lightly coated in a Thai coconut dressing. A slight burn only leaving you to crave just one more bite, ha! The fried soft shell crab in a bao bun with green papayo slaw, coconut mayo and cilantro nam prik was sweet, perfect crunch and memorable. Two for two with one dish left. The cold spicy sesame noodles with seasoned chicken, granny Smith apple slivers, arugula, cashews and nanami togorashi, a perfect closing dish for an exceptional meal. The service, food quality, flavors and preformance from the bar seats were second to none. The concept, portion size, flavor and cost were a real treat in the big city food scene of Denver. If you haven't been here yet, get to the internet and book a table, I promise you won't regret it. To the staff, chefs, and all members of Uncle, thank you for a surprising and incredibly great meal, we will return on our future trips to Denver.
